Ovi Chat account unavailable?

I have the Ovi Chat Account configured on my N900. It doesn't work any more since yesterday. Seems to be confirmed by a few other users. Any official statement from Nokia about this? Like "server under maintenance" or thelike?
Or did they simply shut down the service without telling anyone?

Nokia partners with Yahoo for Ovi chat.

Got an e-mail from Nokia yesterday that they are partnering with Yahoo to improve OVI chat experience. I'm not using either of these, you need to accept additional terms and conditions using the link provided by them. There was no mention of when this will be available, let us see how this partnership brings improvements to OVI chat.

Ovi chat with Google talk account not seamless..

With a little bit of seraching related to the above topic i didn't find many threads related to this, so its worth starting a new one.
Everytime i open Software Update application on my 5800 i see this 'Ovi contacts 1.20' so updated to it few days back all went well and to my surprise it had an option to invite Google talk accounts too, i like somthing which comes along with the device so that we dont rely on third parties too much. I found that chatting is not that seamless, when i chat with someone the message i send is not reaching them instantly nor the one coming from the other end appears on my 5800(v40), suddenly 3 to 4 chat messages pop up, this is sort of annoying the entire purpose of Instant chat or messaging is defeated, even i did one more test , opended Nimbuzz and Ovi chat and initaited a chat, message i send from Ovi to Nimbuzz comes instantly and the reverse doesn't and suddenly 3 to 4 messages pop up.
So has anyone, using Ovi contacts, facing this and found anything please reply. I haven't tested with OVI-OVI conatcts hope atleast that works instantly.

OVI chat unavailable

I have tried to chat using the application installed in my E5-00, but since the first day I got the message "Temporal service problem. Retry later (Code920)", and it's the same with Ovi chat, MSN, Yahoo, and Google. I erased the app and reinstaled again, but the same message appears. Any idea on what to do? thanks.

Ovi Chat - VoIP Where?

Hey everyone,
I couldn't find anything on this so I thought I should ask. So I have "AIM" as a VoIP account and all of my buddies import into my contacts. Now lets say I signed up for a @ovi.com account at www.ovi.com (which I did) and I used that same login to - log into the VoIp account in my n900.... it logs me in successfully and says I am available...
NOW WHAT? Where do I add buddies to it? I read somewhere ovi chat is really ovi contacts.. So at www.ovi.com I added them there under contacts but the phone does not "pull" the contacts into my phone contacts. Am I doing something wrong? Ovi Chat is like non existent. Is there a PC app? is there anything that I "log onto" to add contacts so they can show up in my phone contacts like my AIM buddies do?
Any answers would be most appreciative. Thanks!

If you open "contacts" on your phone, edit a contact (or create a new one) you can add an Ovi address.. that's it.. Now you can send them IM messages..
contacts is phone AND IM contacts rolled into one

E5 OVI Chat

Hi,
Small problem. I have an E5-00 and the Chat App shows only OVI Chat.
With the SIM on my old Nokia E75, I get all the communities.
Is it just me or this is a generic problem? What did I do wrong
and/or why can't I connect to Yahoo! IM?
Both phones are not from a carrier.
Also, I have tried with a different SIM from a different carrier. Same thing.

I can confirm what lanselmo said.
At the first run it wanted to update the communities. So I let him.
I have the exact menu the lanselmo have. I can't select communities.
I tried to click update communities/services ( the first option) and let him go through
the carrier internet connection. (also tried with the wap connection)
I only got one community. As I said, the E75 has no problems.
The only one time the E75 did what E5 does, it's when I remove the SIM.
It's like the E5 doesn't identify the newtork/SIM and doesn't wan't to load
the other communities. Hard reset(*#7370#) didn't seem to fixed this.
I only get sign in Ovi Chat or create a new Ovi Account.
(country Romania, SIM tried: Orange two different SIMs, Vodafone one SIM).
I can't select communities, because there's no such option.

P.S.: Why can't I access Yahoo IM without a SIM? If you would like to see the menu I get
just remove the SIM, update the communities and you'll get the menu I have.
I did use the phone, sent SMS to MyNokia, made phone calls, received/sent SMS.
Still, no dice.

OVI Chat Error

I have a problem when I'm adding OVI accounts.. When I add OVI accounts it said that the account cannot be add. I check the OVI account and it is correct. So what is the problem? Can somebody help me..

I believe it would work. Check your connection, Ovi Chat uses the default connection set in Settings / Connection / Destination

"24/7"chat is unavailable, I can't call customer support because it's saturday. Any ideas on what to do before it ruins my chances to getting a refund?

I have been trying to contact customer support because I was unable to cancel my membership before they charged me the monthly usual. they charged me and took money from my bank account and I wish to get this months refund and cancel my membership, reason to cancel is because money is tight. But "24/7" chat is unavailable and they don't take calls on Saturdays. What do i do! Help anyone?

John, You've been posting this a lot lately and it's as unhelpful as it is incorrect.
The support options listed for canceling a membership include this forum, and staff have helped members cancel via this forum in the past - you only need to go back a handful of pages to find instances of this.
Additionally, as you may've gathered from reading the threads you've posted this in, the 24/7 chat hasn't been working for a week or more, and the phone support option is hit and miss too - mostly miss.

Nokia C3-01, only ovi chat

Hi, I am using nokia C3-01 since 3 weeks. It is a good cell phone. But when use chat, it only gives the Ovi chat without any option to select other client like yahoo messenger, gtalk etc. Hoping for next firmware update to solve this issue.

LDAP Authentication "Network Accounts Unavailable" on 10.8

Hello,
We've been successfully authenticating against our LDAP servers on our 10.6.8 machines without any problems. I've setup a test machine running 10.8 to see if we will have any issues when it comes time to upgrade our lab OSs. I setup our LDAP authentication on the machine as per our usual methods. I get the "Green Light" in the Users/Groups preferences pane that our LDAP server is found. I can search through our LDAP users in the Directory Editor and I can access LDAP user accounts through terminal.
My problem is at the login screen it tells me "Network Accounts Unavailable". This seems contradictory as when I'm logged into a local account, I can access our LDAP server. It seems to work everywhere except at the login screen.

Any ideas?

I see the same problem as a result of having the same UID number for both my local account and my LDAP account although the account names are different. It appears that upon providing the correct login/password to the LDAP server, 10.8 looks at the returned UID , identifies it as the same as a local UID and then rejects the login.
A security measure I want to work around but perhaps there is a better way of accessing both my local and LDAP accounts but keeping it as easy as it would be if both accounts had the same UID.

Nokia C2-01 IM service contains only ovi chat comm...

I bought a new Nokia C2-01 on 23rd of june this year. I have no other complaints till now but one is that my IM application shows only Ovi chat i've no friends in ovi chat and I want facebook chat in that how can i get it can anyone tell of the way my SW version is 11.20

I also have this problem. When i sign in to ovi community, it says error, visit messaging.nokia.com which is a non-working address. And pressing anything on that bring me back to the sign in screen. This thing needs to be resolved. Help please

When I try t o conect to ovi chat its says that it cant connect. Code Error "409"

Nokia X2 Ovi Chat crashes with lengthy chat msg

Hello There,
I tried to use Nokia Ovi chat application and it crashes continuously if the replying message exceeds 60 characters whereas it is supporting 256 characters. Once the application is crashed, I cannot get it back untill I reboot the phone. This makes me not to use the app at all. I am just wondering how these issues weren't found during the testing phase. Bet you guys, you need good test engineers.

How exactly it is to upgrade the nokia messaging client?
I have recently buy this phone and satisfy with the service it gives. But, as for the chat, it really frustrating remember there's only one chat service added by Nokia. Would there be anyone who could explain this to us, X2 owner about the step by step for adding other chat services?
