Ovi Maps 3.04 missing weather icon

After installation of the 3.04 update, in my E52, I missed the Weather icon, even when I am online (with SIM card).
Any help???

If you have the 'MORE' option.. you may find under that...
Though yesterday for some time it went missing on a few phones.. (Maps v3.06)

Ovi Maps 3.04 - POI's icons

How can I set Ovi Maps 3.04 to show only the icons of my saved favourite places?
Sometimes, when I browse the map of a major city like Lisbon, Ovi Maps shows a large number of icons for its standard POIs.
I have already tried to turn off the 'places' option at the map view menu, but the icons of all POIs still are showing.

I know what you're talking about, but that's not what I meant.
What I tried to turn off is the 'places' option, which is at the menu with the map view options satellite view, terrain view, 3D view, night view.

Ovi Maps 3.03 Weather icon is still absent (E72)

Weather icon in Ovi Maps 3.03 (E72) disappeared on May-1-2011 and still seems to be absent.
It's in Online mode and other Ovi Maps online services work OK (Lonely Planet, More, Events)
I did notice similar recent messages posted here about weather icon being gone on Ovi Maps 3.04 and 3.06.
While the original posters replied that the icon has since been restored (due to service technical issues), however it's still absent in Ovi Maps 3.03, at least on E72 (in USA).
I'm not sure if anybody else could confirm this issue in similar configuration.

Ovi map - My Position icon MISSING (N8)

Hi,
I just got my N8 few days ago. After updating Ovi maps to the newest version ( 3.06 if not mistaken ) I have noticed a few problems.
1) My Position icon is totally missing, that means i can't locate my current position in gps. that's really bad.
2) Gps cant lock even after a pro-long scanning time, moreless 30 mins anywhere. I'm using intergrated positioning. Red signal blinking, no data found.
3) I tried to delete the CITIES folder and qf file, and reinstalled the ovi map downloaded, but problem still remains.
I haven tried anyform of hard or soft reset yet, as i found lots of people facing problems doing that. Is there any other way to ocmpletely remove ovi map & reinstall it again, or i need to do a reset ?
I would like to get some advice from you guys on solving my gps issues. Thank you

Some cars have coated windscreens which can reflect gps signals and this will slow down position fix. One way of testing would be to compare how long it takes to get a fix in the car as out of the car. I generally get a fix after about a minute.
My suggestion if it is a windscreen coating problem would be to get yourself an external bluetooth gps receiver. They are very cheap nowadays. The advantage of using this is the external receiver is usually much more sensitive and you can also place them anywhere in the car to get the best possible signal. I have a few of them. They work well and would normally get a position fix in seconds.

Weather icon missing

Im missing the weather icon on my iPad just like the one on the iPhone. What can I do pelease help?

It is possible the iPhone's Weather App is not compatible with the iPad, so it was not transferred when you synced the iPad.
Run iTunes on your computer and select Apps on the left side. The various Apps will appear in groups according to what devices they are compatible with.

Ovi Map 3.3 Problem, wants to reinstall it.

I installed ovi map 3.3 on my n97 today. The weather and some other feature won't run. It simply gives me a running sign on the upleft corner of the icon, but does not really run.
I figured it might be the problem of having old ovi map running when I was updating to the newest ovi map.
Anyway, I want to reinstall it. However, I can't find ovi map in the installed apps list. Not on the phone or from pc suit.
Anyone knows how to reinstall it w/o formatting everything?

E52 and Ovi maps 3.04 long gps waiting time

After upgrading to newest 3.04 I noticed that internal gps needs much more time to find satellites.
I have checked "internal gps" method only. After downgrading to 3.03 it works much faster

I think that you will find that your 5230 has OVI Maps v3.03_10wk10_b02 pre-installed in device firmware, so that if you remove v3.04_2010wk32_b03 you will revert to previous version.
It has been commented that upon 5230 v3.03 seemed to lock on to position faster and has satellite reception icon which is missing from v3.04 onwards. One of the main benefits of v3.04 was the additional positioning method WiFi/Network introduced which can have quite marked results especially upon devices WLAN equipped which unfortunately your 5230 is not.
OVI Maps v3.06 which utilises a newer set of maps is probably quite near to general release and for some users in certain regions this maybe quite beneficial.

Ovi Maps does not launch anymore on my 5800 Xpress...

I have the latest ovi maps for my nokia 5800 (3.06, and also the latest firmware of the 5800), and everything was working fine until yesterday when I click the Map icon, the application is not launching... I did not install anything new, it just does not want to launch the application (no error message, just like i did not press the icon). I had the same issue couple of weeks ago when suddenly the ovi maps stopped working (i had to reset my phone and reinstall everything), and today it's the same all over again...
Do you have any idea how to fix this? (i have around 40Mo left in my phone memory, so there should not be any memory problem i guess....)

Presumably you have Ovi Maps v3.06 (688) installed http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/ ovi_maps_installer_3.06_11wk23_b05_s60_5...
Don't know whether you restored from a backup after resetting device and have re-introduced a problem.
Perhaps try removing E:\Cities + .qf fle from 5800 and store safely on PC desktop, as empty folder structure re-created when you next open Ovi Maps application.

Weather icon should show current weather

if they can have the Calendar icon show the current date and day, they need to have the Weather icon show the current temp and weather.

Nevermind, read the question wrong. I missed the word "icon" and to spare myself embarassment, I'll just delete. I agree with the OP, it would be cool.

Reuters is reporting that Nokia will offer free navigation on its smartphones. However, instead of just the US (the current Google limitation sans hacking), Nokia will be demonstrating its reach by offering free turn-by-turn directions in 74 countries and 46 languages - a move that should cover 20 million smartphones globally with Ovi Maps available in over 180 countries.
Update: The original San Francisco Chronicle report has been pulled but Google cache caught a bit more saying that Nokia's navigation service is "capable of operating completely offline" unlike Google Navigation which requires data connectivity.

Update 3: And it's official. Starting today, Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation is free across the globe. Drivers receive turn-by-turn voice guidance including lane assistance, traffic information (in 10 countries including the US), and safety camera and speed warnings while pedestrians will be guided on shortcuts through parks and pedestrian-only zones in over 100 cities across the globe. It all works offline too, which should extend battery life and keep that navigation humming even while puttering about in data dead zones without racking up international roaming charges (take that, Google). Whilst in OVI Maps click "Search" (turn phone into landscape mode so that you can use full screen alphanumeric keyboard) and input co-ordinates as DD MM SS.SSS n DD MM SS.SSS w but you can miss off "leading zero's".

Nokia Maps / Ovi Maps Installer

Hi All,
I heard that we were now able to get maps and navigatoin for free, is this correct? I have a n95 and when I go to use the navigation feature in Nokia Maps (just updated it), it says that navigation is a premium service and that I have to pay for it.
I thought there might be a new program available so I tried to install Ovi Maps from the Ovi Store on the phone but it just gets to "preparing to install" and then says "Update Error" and quits.
I have tried reinstalling the firmware but get the same response. Does anybody know what is going on, have I missed something?

As your phone is a S60 5th edition, I believe that the last stable release of Nokia Maps was 3.06. Versions afterwards like 3.07, 3.08 and 3.09 were solely for Symbian^3 devices running Symbian^3, Symbian Anna and Nokia Belle: http://betalabs.nokia.com/trials/ovi-maps-for-mobile-v3-07/download_and_installation I'm not too sure if 3.06 graduated from Beta Labs into Nokia Store, but you can always check Nokia Store for the latest version listed there.
Yes, you could always switch your SIM card and memory card with your son's phone if you believe it is a software issue, or that it is a hardware issue. Likewise, checking the Maps data and installations when your phone is connected to your computer in Nokia Suite. Apart from Nokia Suite and Nokia Maps on the Nokia website to download the installation files, there is not really any other place to source the installation files.

Avoid internet connections when using ovi maps.

I own a E60 and have the latest version of Ovi Maps for Belgium on my cell phone.
In my internet settings I mentioned: connection -> Offline. As such I expected not to connect to internet at all and only usethe local maps.
But my last bill mentioned quite a few internet-connections. Is this in order to search (faster) for my own position ? If yes, is there a way to avoid these connections ? If not, any idea what another reason could be (although I don't use mail-functions, ... on my cell phone) ?

If you have set your connection to Offline mode, your maps will not connect any more. So your case should be caused because of some other application or feature of the mobile.
Try to check if you have any application (like social networking apps or weather app, etc..) which use internet to function. Also check if you have any settings enabled in your phone to use internet (like check for automatic software update or somehting like that). You can take the timing of the usages from your bill, that might help you to understand your phone usage more.

[INFO TIPS] How to survive with Ovi Maps 3.0 insta...

Quick info tips. I wanna made this post earlier but I was on few days trip so didn't have a chance... but it's good coz I was tested GPS in real touristic environment.
I'm from Europe so I don't know how all links posted below will be works for people outside Europe.
My hardware: E63 with latest firmware + external GPS module LD-4W
Everything what we do here, we do with phone connected to the PC via USB cable in PC Suite mode and with fully battery charged.
If you have Maps 2.0, everything works well for you and you payed for any of licences - better stay with that version and don't touch Ovi Maps 3.0. Waste of time and nerves.
1. Please make phone data backup in PC Suite. Please make data backup of your memory card.
2. Check if you have firmware upgrade for your phone (click on some icon in PC Suite). But if you have cracked Symbian and you using cracked software better stay away from firmware upgrade. There's new cracking method for newest firmwares, ask Google. I don't use it, I'm clean. If you have new firmware - update the phone.
3. Download MapLoader - http://europe.nokia.com/explore-services/maps/download-maps/map-loader Do fresh install or update old MapLoader
4. Bluetooth MUST BE turn in phone. Why? Ask Nokia. -_- Just kidding but unfortunately it's not funny. Without Bluetooth Ovi Maps 3.0 installed in next step (6.) is crazy as hell. Application is completly unusable, skipping, switching... one big hell on the screen. I don't know how it looks like in phones with build in GPS module.
5. Download Ovi Maps 3.0 - http://europe.nokia.com/explore-services/maps/download-maps and update with this installer old Maps 2.0 in the phone.
6. Run Ovi Maps 3.0 and allow to download via Internet connection in your phone (wifi, gsm, 3g) some portion of initial data - 300 or 400kB - something like that, up to 1MB maximum then disconnect from Internet. It's needed to save some file (I don't remember name) and make structure of catalogues on memory card.
7. Leave Ovi Maps 3.0 and run MapLoader. This application is one big pain in **bleep**. Sometimes doesn't see your phone, sometimes doesn't recognize correctly your memory card size (when you are finished downloading your map/s data that stupid soft can say to you "you don't have" or something like that)... horrible! If something goes wrong - try restart your PC and phone then connect again via USB cable - still in PC Suite mode.
8. When luckily you have maps on your phone, try to pair your phone with your GPS module via Bluetooth or turn on build in module in other models (I think it works like that?).
9. When you will be look out for licence for walk navigation... you cannot find it. You can see only your region name (in my case it was Europe) and you have an option to buy... licenses for drivers. ROTFL! Licence for walk navigation is "hidden option". You must go here - http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/maps-support/how-to/how-to--use-map... - it's mini FAQ how to obtain it.
What I see, there's NO MORE free trial licenses in Maps v3.0 You must pay from day one. I buyed that licence for walk navigation for 10,12E (10 euro 12 euro cents) and it's not time restricted - looks like lifetime, ofc for the phone that you use (I think). Other licenses (for drivers) are time restricted (30 days and up as I remember).
Everything works fine for me. I was over 220km away from my hometown in awesome town Wrocław and Ovi Maps 3.0 helps me A LOT with navigation and searching for monuments in this town.

Because maybe you must be format memory card for proper maps installation (instead upgrade from Ovi Maps 3.0 installation level old installed maps from v2.0).

I saw on the Nokia.nl website that there is a Ovi Maps 3D app/program. How can I download this app? I couldn't found it in the OVI-store.

Sorry for any confusion here as this refers to maps.ovi.com and you will find 3D icon at top right hand corner of screen.
