Ovi Player Crash
Another issue to raise regarding nokia's lousy software. After giving up on Ovi Suite now seeing as nobody can identify why my phone crashes when I set to pc suite mode I re-installed ovi player, but alas, it crashes eveytime I try to load it.
How can they call it a smart phone, it'snot even from a "smart" company, any one who owns one will know that the user has to be smart just to be able to use the basic features on this so so disappointing phone. The phone itself is as unpredictable as loading a game on the Commodore 64 was. I've lost count how many times it has either turned itself off or just froze with uresponsive touch screen or unock button.
How I wish i had bought an i phone now.
Could you please check, if this could help ?
1) Connect the phone in "Data transfer" mode to your PC.
2) Delete the two files in "E:\private\101FFC31" (called "mpxv1.mpd" and "pcv5.mpd").
3) Delete the files in "E:\private\101ffca9" (called "harvesterdb.dat").
4) Disconnect the phone from the PC and run the Music Player on the phone.
5) Wait a while for the app to startup. It will be rebuilding the library......
6) Just to be sure, select "Refresh".

- version 2.0.1106.00 on Windows 7
- Nokia N96 with FW 30.x
- Audio tracks are in .m4a/256/44 format.
We have another "clumky" Nokia software app.
1) takes some 30 seconds to launch (with little animation showing the pgm. is doing something)
2) There are some tenthts tracks listed in the "Unknown" category. Track details show empty tags. Same tags are correctly displayed in Windows Explorer, Media monkey, iTunes.
Editing tags into Ovi player, corrupts the .m4a header in such a way the track cannot be played anymore.... and all the tags become unreadable from other apps. How is that?
3) Ovi player crashes easily
4) Nokiamserver.exe often shows CPU spikes up to 70%; task manager->end task needed to stop sucking CPU.
Can someone help^Are your music files on a network drive (NAS or server)

Hi,
I've downloaded the newest version of ovi player, and it always crashes when importing my songs. When it reaches the 565th song, it says "ovi player is not working". Also when I open ovi player and drag the program, it crashes. Same thing when double clicking the top bar to maximize. Any ideas? I already deleted the database file and it keeps crashes.
I hope I get some help soon.nokia ovi player does not play any music at all, downloaded, from my original cd collection or from the existing files that i've transfered from the window media player. It was working fine until 3 days ago.
A fault message came up once saying something along the lines of code has been compromised contact nokia support to correct this.
well here I am!. unfortunately I cannot afford the 20pence per minute phone conversation with NOKIA as have just had operation and do not get any pay. so please can anybody help? I need this to get away from all the football comments etc that are being pushed out of my stereo speakers( as you can gather do not follow football), -
Have upgraded Nokia Music Player to Ovi Player. Seems to install ok. Click on SIgn in button and no login window appears. Can not see anywhere to enter login details. Please help.
Do this:
- Go to your control panel and go to "Add/Remove Programs"
- Uninstall the ff:
*Nokia Ovi Player
*PC Connectivity Solution
*Nokia Multimedia Common Components
*Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
- IF YOU'RE USING WINDOWS XP, DO THIS:
- Go to My Computer > C:\Documents and Settings\<<Windows Username>>\Local Settings > Application Data, then delete the NOKIA folder.
(If you can't find the Local Settings, click on Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders)
- IF YOU'RE USING WINDOWS VISTA, DO THIS:
- Go to My Computer > C:\Users\<<Windows Username>>\AppData\Local, then delete the NOKIA folder. (If you don't see the AppData folder, change the Folder Options to Show Hidden Files and Folders as well.
**After deleting the NOKIA folder, reinstall the Ovi Player application to this link:
http://musicstore.nokia.com/download.aspx
**Save the .exe file on your desktop so that it would be easier for you to see it.
(Note: Running and not Saving might cause the appliation to crash again. So better save the .exe file first).
Upon installing the application, you will see the Welcome note from the ovi Player. It has three questions. Selecting your location is very important because if not, you will have difficulties downloading and purchasing songs.
This should solve the issue. Proven and tested ^_^
Hope this helps!

Hi
I have some feedback and requests on the Ovi player and didn't know where to send it so I just post it here. I like the simple clean style of the player and
1. First and foremost is the syncing. I have a N97 so I can store all my music on the phone. So I set Ovi player to transfer all my music to the phone and so it does. The problem is that every time I connect the phone it starts all over again and transfer all my music to the phone even though it's already there. And it does not ask if I want to overwrite the existing files. I know I can set it to only transfer latest added music but it is the same thing there, even if I've transfered it once it keeps transfering it every time I connect the phone. I think it would be an appriciated option to be able to set the phone to completely mimic what I have on the computer. That way I can change and re-arrange however I like on the computer and this will be transfered to the phone. To sum up: Ovi player needs a more intelligent sync that reckognises whats already on my phone and an option to keep the phone and computer library identical.
2. Album art seems to be quite low-res after being optimised. Maybe this is not a problem for phones with smaller display, but for the N97 you definately notice it.
Thanks
JosefHi Josef,
I'm having similar problems with Ovi Player. Syncing is difficult to manage, I've tried various methods to work-around this, but all involve manual processes without than any assistance from the application.
The performance is also horrific, I'm running on Windows XP on a fairly high spec. machine and every other appliance runs fine. Ovi Player seems to kill the CPU as soon as it's opened, it also crashes frequently, especially when trying to delete off unwanted tracks.
On the whole it's not good at all. If anyone knows of any other software that can be used to manage the music on my 5800 I'd like to know. It's a 'Comes with Music' phone so I fear because of the licensing I'm stuck with it.
Any advise kindly received.

Nokia Music Player crash on start-up after upgrade...
I have upgraded Nokia Suite from Ovi Suite and found that the Ovi Player cannot start after the next restart. I have tried to upgrade the player to Nokia Music Player and had error during software download for multimedia common component. There is no problem using Nokia Suite. Can anyone help to troubleshoot what has gone wrong and where should I begin to get Ovi Player work?
I was a Nokia Music Unlimited user and has all my songs on the PC with Ovi Player can't start. The last crash I had has caused me to redownload some of the songs due to drm licensing problem. I hope the recommended suggestions would not cause me to loose the drm licenses again. thanks!
Running on a Windows Vista system with updates.
was: 3310--> N80 v5.0719.0.2--> N82 v31.0.016; now: 5800xm v40
KeN82NyHi GoldenChylde,
Nokia Music is not a virus, as other users have found that sometimes their anti-virus software may cause conflicts (not only with Nokia software but other programs), as the AV program brings up the program as a false positive (i.e. incorrectly detects the program as being an invasive process that is seeking to damage the user's computer through installation/operation etc). Is impossible for all AV programs to have a database that knows to exclude Nokia programs, and the same goes for any other computer program out there. -
Ovi player won't create N97 playlists
I am using the latest Ovi Player on my NAM N97 with firmware v20 and I cannot create playlists directly on the N97 from Ovi player on my PC (Windows XP). I can create a PC playlist using music stored on the PC, yet when I transfewr the eplaylist to the N97 all I get is the name of the list without the songs.
Accessing playlists on the phone will not work as the plus (+) sign will not let me select to add new.I have to say I am absolutely disgusted with the level of support offered by Nokia for what was once their "flagship" model phone; the n97.
I have the same issue with my N97 v20(blank playlists on the phone after a transfer), except now, when I close the Ovi Player app on my PC, and go back in, most of my playlists have emptied themselves.
In my opinion the terrible PC software is the tip of the iceberg, Nokia have demonstrated time and again that they don't seem to care about their customers post sale. Just look at this posting...orignally opened in Jan and after 2 months no replies, no suggestions, no help.
If this was my only issue I wouldnt mind as much but after:
Lock switch slider falling off (repaired under warranty as a known fault)
Unable to turn phone back on due to residual charge in the sim card. (known fault)
Random crashes during phone calls (nokia screen just appears on screen and have to take battery out to fix it) (known fault)
(...the list goes on) I've lost all patience and faith in the company. -
Flash Player Crashing every time it is opened
About a week ago I decided to remove the trial version of PSE from my computer. The trial period was over and to be honest I like Gimp much, much better (even more so now given all the problems I have encountered this past week.) I had a very difficult time getting PSE removed from my computer; even running my system as an administrator with full permissions granted, I kept getting the message that I did not have permission to change this file, it required an administrator. WTF big time! I contacted tech support to find out why I was having this problem, but unfortunately poor Gilligan was so lost all he could do was imply that I must be lying. Yes, that actually happened folks. I asked to be connected to a higher level and was supplied with a dead link. I finally got this Adobe crapware off my computer using brute force-yes Virginia, I did try using uninstall utilities of several flavors. There was no uninstall feature with the PSE software which led Gilligan to tell me I did not know what I was doing or talking about; I don't work for Adobe so I do know a little bit about what I am doing, sorry Gilligan. In cleaning the registery I was shocked to see what Adobe had placed in my system and even more shocked to see where it had been placed; why does Adobe feel the need to hide data miners in their crapware?
Since this issue with PSE, Flash Player has completely stopped functioning; prior to this everything functioned flawlessly. However, now every time I encounter flash content on a web page I am greeted by that familiar greyed out message, "Adobe Flash Player has crashed, send an error reort." I am not exagerating when I say that I have submitted well in excess of 100 error reports just in the past day alone. I have uninstalled and reinstaled new copies of Flash Player several times now, the latest version, 11 I think it was, as well as some of the archived older versions; after every install I have been directed to an Adobe web page telling me that Flash has been properly installed. My drivers are up to date on EVERYTHING, I utilize a utility that checks for updates regularly. I am running Windows 7 in a 64 bit environment (and yes I know for a fact that it is 64bit as I installed the 64 bit OS, and have verified it.) Using the latest version of IE, 9.0.8112.16421 (both 32 and 64 bit versions), when Flash Player crashes so does IE, every time. I open a web page containing flash content and poof, adobe error message followed by the IE error message, "something has caused IE to stop working properly." Using the most current version of FF, 8.0.1, this happens about 50% of the time and wipes my RAM completely clean clean when it crashes. I have removed everything branded as Adobe from my computer, and attempted starting from scratch. The only option I know of that is left is to wipe the drive clean and reinstall everything from scratch (yes Gilligan, that really is the only thing that has yet to be tried that I personally know of.)
So do I just give up and resign myself to never again see an online video until web developers realize just how crappy Adobe software has become and cleanse the web of flash and all things Adobe?? Or is there by some slim chance someone out there that has found a work around? What would really be nice is to have an alternative to Adobe Flash; I guess this shows why monopolies are a very bad thing as it allows for this sort of crap (trust me, I want to say so much worse right now, I really have come to despise Adobe) to go unchecked as long as they can turn a profit. So, any suggestions????I dont know what's happening, Abode crashes all the time. I installed the latest version of Java, Mozilla, all updates on windows XP. Ca you help me?

Flash player Crashes every time 3 items or more running...
Since I updated to Flash Player 11,7,700,169 every time 3 or more Flash player items run, Flash Player crashes.
This happens in either Firefox or IE!
Eg.If the problem occurs in Firefox when I also have IE open then it affects IE & Vice Versa...
Is there a fix for this as it's becoming ridiculous now with the amount of crashes happening?

avrt.dll C:\Windows\System32\avrt.dll 6.2.9200.16420Hi Chris,
I'm not the original reporter, but I can confirm IE9 crashes in my wife's Windows 7 computer every time, on this site: http://dk.timefor.tv after latest update. Whenever she presses the "TV-Guide" link, it'll crash. It also happens if she opens the http://dk.timefor.tv/tv-guide directly, but in that case not until she leaves the page or closes the browser. Other sites are not quite as consistent, but after the update she sees a _lot_ of crashes, to the point that she's had to disable the plugin and use Chrome for sites using Flash instead.
IE9 in my own computer doesn't have the same problem (Both are 64-bit Windows 7, her computer is a T420 with a Core i5-2410M and 4 GB RAM).
I'm sending you the dump now (John, please note that you need to use -f * instead of -f "" to actually get it to create the dump, -f "" just shows that there was an exception, it wont dump it).
A funny thing I noticed is that her add-on manager thought that the plugin was 10.x (can't remember the exact version), even though more information said that the file was "Flash32_11_7_700_169.ocx" until I completely removed the Flash plugin installation and installed it again. However, the crash persists, even though the version is correct now (the dump is from the freshly installed version).
Another difference I saw between our machines was that the Flash updater on my PC did not require IE to be closed, but hers did, both when trying to re-update and doing the fresh install.

Having problems installing Ovi player.
This problem would not happen if I did not format my PC.
After format using Vista SP2, I can't install my Ovi Player but before the format it was fine.
The installation starts normally but until half way the downloading process the status turns to fail and says network error.
What is the problem ?
I have tried every solution on the internet. From turning off all anti virus programs to deleting files in registry.

How to change default Ovi Player store ...
Hi,
I need help from you people.
I had installed Ovi Player. Whenever I try to open Ovi Player, the default store gets’ open is "India". I change the store location to "Germany". When I do the search for particular music, it will again take me to "India" store instead of "Germany" store. In addition, most annoying is that I have to re-login but my user id and password will not work as its different store. Also when I go via music.nokia.de and try to login, it open Ovi player and since default location is "India", it takes me to India store and my login credentials do not work.
I ask Nokia care on how to change default Ovi Player Store location but they are unable to provide any good answer.
I already un-install / re-installed but won't work. Do any of you have answer to my problem? I want my default Ovi Player location to be "Germany" instead of "India".
More information, my regional settings have location as “Germany” and language as “English”.
Please help.
Thanks for your response.

Subhendra

Go to Solution.I had got message from Nokia on how to correct this issue. This had solved the problem. Below is the mail from them ...
Dear Chakraborty,
Thank you for your response.
This error is sometimes caused by a corrupted MDataStore.db3 file used by the Ovi Player. This file will need to be deleted with the Ovi Player closed. Then open the player and the datastore file will be rewritten by the application:
Close Ovi Music Player and delete the MDataStore.db3 file:
Vista C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
XP C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
Both of these locations are in hidden folders. So, to view them users will need to:
Open Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders
Once Ovi Music is opened again the MDataStore.db3 file will be rewritten to this folder.
After that manipulation try to install the Ovi Player once again:

This is my problem:
The newest flash player crashes everytime I open certain web pages like failblog or tinychat which requires a webcam
I'm not sure what is causing it but it's only when i'm on those webpages that it crashes...
I can go on youtube kongregate steam and I can play tons of games the only thing I cant do is go on certain websites that messes with the newest version of flash for some reason...
I can use ANY other version of adobe flash and it won't crash at all but the problem with using the older versions is that I can't use my webcam on certain sites.
Will there be another update release for adobe flash that will fix this problem? The previous version was fine I don't know what was changed but will it get fixed?
And yes I have also been into the error logs but it doesn't show anything and the codes that it does show, people don't know what the hell it means lol just a bunch of binary number like data...I could post that but I doubt it would be of any help it's just a few short lines of numbers on each crash...I have purposely crashed my computer about 2 times to check if error logs popup and to see what is crashing the flash player but nothing changes in the crash log..
So to sum my problems up into a short paragraph....newest flash player crashes my computer when I go on webcam/webchat/certain websites with flash videos on it, also if I right click and try to tamper with the settings it also crashes my computer...I would like to know if there's a possible fix for this or will there be another update released anytime soon?
Please help and thank you for all future responses I will continue to use older versions of flash player till this problem is resolved, also on my newer i-7 620 processor 5850 ati laptop it crashes but rarely although I can use my webcam on msn on that computer but this is one has problems....Sorry I wasn't able to respond for a while I work two jobs so I really don't have time for this although I would still like to get this solved very much.
In the event viewer all it says is that there was an unexpected shut down.
I have checked and updated everything on both computers I tried to disable hardware acceleration and that still didn't change anything.
Sometimes when I try to just right click on a flash player and change the settings it crashes, if I try to load certain pages it crashes, if I try to use a webcam chat on a webcam site it crashes. Though I can still view other people's webcams in chat ex: tinychat I could be in there chatting away with some friends from across country and nothing will happen until I click webcam and flash player asks to allow, it will crash if I try to right click anywhere and that little flash settings popup it crashes.
All of this happens when I use the most current version of flash player any other previous version will not crash when doing any of this although I can't use my webcam since the website is running an updated version which is why I would like to get this problem fixed.
The new firefox update didn't help at all it still just freezes. There is no blue screen, no crash error report, no event log. The event viewer just says it was shut down unexpectedly.
I also tried uninstalling all webcam applications unplugging my webcam and that didn't affect it at all. I've done everything that people have been doing on here to solve there problems, I used the search button and tried options from various threads but none work for me.
I can do everything normally that requires flash player like play games, watch videos, and other stuff but it just crashes when I do those certain things as stated above. It's weird that there is no log, no anything just a freeze and I can't do anything to the computer i've tried letting it sit for about 15 minutes but it didn't respond. I used ctrl alt del after a while, alt tab, alt f4, holding down certain keys, holding the power button in for a while and nothing will happen. It just sits frozen untill I unplug it.
Is there anything I can do to get an error log of the crash since event viewer isn't working? -
Flash Player crashes when losing network connection
My flash player crashes every time i lose internet connection. That happens alot, because the networks i use keep jumping between eachother and they suck, quite frankly, but it's out of my control.
I got alot of tabs up, 24/7, all using flash player, so when it crashes, that sucks.
No, it doesn't crash because of the amount of tabs i have open, or the load on it. It happens when i have only 1 tab open too, barely using flash player ..
So, is there anything i can do about this?
This didn't happen with the older versions of adobe (I mean alot older, don't remember at which version this started happening, this/last year atleast) ..
Im running Windows 7 32 bit. But it happens on my Win XP 32-bit computers and Win 7 64-bit computer too.So i have the same virus on all my 4 computers?
1 computer has a updated version of the latest Symantech antivirus, and 1 has an updated version of the latest AVG antivius. They should've found a virus if i had one. And i haven't visited any "suspicious" sites, downloaded anything "suspicious", and have all ads blocked .. The chance of it being a virus is equal to zero.
When the computer changes from a network (With connection and internet access) to a different network (With connection and internet access) real quick, then it usually doesn't crash.
But when it changes from a network (With connection and internet access) to a network (With connection, but hotspot, so no internet access before i enter the password and username in a new tab/window) it crashes. Same happens if i simply click "Disconnect" when im on a network.
It doesn't however do that if i go into "Work offline" mode before disconnecting, but it crashes then when i reconnect to a different network, and go back into working online.
This is an adobe problem, no virus.
Happens with both Firefox 3.6, Firefox 4, Google chrome and IE (Whichever version it was i had) .. -
Flash player crashes 100% of the time
Over the past several weeks, Adobe Flash Player crashes 100% of the time. How can this be fixed?
I also have a problem with the AMD graphics driver and the catalyst manager.
Also, the g, h, 4, and / keys only work about half the time.
Are these problems all tied together?Turns out, there were crumbs of an old DW (cs1) still hiding out. With the newer UNINSTALL option, there is no more drag-app-to-trash (which caused the conflict). I used the adobe clean script to reinstall fresh, and all is good.
