Ovi player music license problems

I have a Nokia 5320 navi with the music unlimited for one year. I have registered onto one computer and downloaded the Ovi player. Downloading songs  from the store is no problem, but when i try to play them from "My music", the Ovi player says that these songs do not have a license and i cannot play them. The ovi player then requests to delete the songs and download them again. After doing this, I still cannot play the songs and the same repeats. What to do?

I have exact problem with 6120 Classic, same symptoms, same attempt to fix
Windows 7 x64 English.
PC Suite stopped working a few weeks ago, I posted here, no support. Now, OVI 'is the way' and it does not work either. Pants. Nokia, you need to lift your game, I am being inconvenienced GREATLY almost to the point where an iPhone is going to become a reality...

  • No search in new Ovi Player - Music Store tab

I like the new colors and the functionality of the new Ovi Player. It's faster than the old version, and the initial hiccup with the unstartable version is resolved, but it seems somebody in the development dep't got dazed by the new design and forgot about the functionality.
There's no Search box when you're in the Music Store tab, which means you can't search for music when you're on the store tab...
The browser verision has the search tools above the main store.
I seem to remember there was a search control in the old Nokia Music ver 1.3 above the store window, but I'm sure it's quite gone now

hello, first please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and do a full scan of your system with security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].
[[Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page]]
[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]
afterwards install the search reset addon - it will revert the most common customizations those adware programs do in firefox back to the default: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

  • Ovi Player sign-in problem (only in the Dutch stor...

    Hello,
    I need some help.
I searched al of the discussions  and can't find a simular problem.
I am using Windows Vista and Ovi player 2.0.1106.00.
I am using the Dutch store.
I start Ovi-player and and see the Storewindow.
I click on the log-in-button in the upper right corner.
As soon as the log-in-screen appears I see at the left of the screen the 'Username'-field.
My computer makes a clicking sound and the red text "Please complete this field" appears.
Then I click in the Username-field and I type the first character of my username.
Then Ovi player freezes and Vista says that the program has stopped working and has to be closed.
    Okay.
I changed to other country-stores and thay all accept typing in the Username-field.
Off course I can't log in in a different country, so I can't buy anything.
    Another important piece of info:
I tried Windows XP and the Dutch store works.
It must be a combination of: Vista, OVI Player and the Dutch store that doesn't work together.
Who has a clue how to fix this???

    Hello,
I've also the same problem. Windows Vista, Ovi Player and login, do not work together. Even when I go shopping in 'Germany' I can't login.
    Please sent us an answer.
    Thanks.

  • Music license problems on new system

I just transferred my son's music collection to a new computer. Over the years, my son has purchased music under a couple of different accounts. Finally, we changed his account to his own email. All the music he had previously purchased plays and syncs fine on his old computer. On his new computer, some of the older music asks for the old account, which, by the way, no longer exist! What is the best way to get this music to his new computer. Apparently, when we changed the name of his account, Apple did not change the licenses on the music. Do I need to make a CD, and then bring that over to the new system? Thanks for your help.....

Contact Apple customer support and request that they get the authorizations straightened out. Apparently they did not correctly handle the name change. Pls let us know when this works.
My advice is still the same. Since you can use the tracks on the old PC, use the old PC to burn them to an audio CD., which can then be used like any audio CD.
And for future reference, avoid buying DRM-protected tracks. The authorization thereof could be a lifelong distraction. Non-DRM tracks are readily available in the marketplace today.

  • Possible to let Ovi Player detect songs already on...

Well, I currently use iTunes Agent in order to sync my Itunes playlist to my phone using the Mass Storage mode.
However, I noticed that such songs do not get detected by the Ovi Player at all. I want to use Ovi Player in order to create playlists easily on my Nokia 5800 (it's hard marking individual songs to the playlist in the phone itself).
However, it seems that the Ovi Player is unable to detect songs in such a mode.
    Why is this so?
I find this rather frustrating since the Mass Storage mode has far faster file transfer rates than in the PC Suite mode. Also, does this mean that if I reformat my computer or use another computer then Ovi Player would once again be unable to detect my songs on my fone?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Ovi Player only supports MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) devices. This is required to ensure that the tracks are copied along with the licenses. In Mass storage mode, the files are copied on a bit by bit bases, which will not create a license on the phone. MTP is a wellknown standard for media transfers. Most of the Phones and MP3 players have MTP support and they all work with Ovi Player without any problems.
If you transfer the songs/playlist using the Mass Storage Mode, then refresh the music library on the Phone first and then connect the phone to Ovi Player. I would not suggest you to transfer Playlist using this method as it will not work on the Phone. It will be easy for you to create a playlist in Ovi Player and transfer it to the phone using Ovi Player. This will ensure that all the songs and the playlist are copied in a proper format, so that phone will be able to play it.

  • Nokia Ovi Player License Problem(Need Help Asap)

    Greetings to everyone,
I am using nokia ovi player to download songs as I have gt the license to do so since i bought an X6 but now after i have restored my laptop i was told to redownload DRM by the ovi player. The problem is it does not want to download DRM as an error comes out that states it is not authorised to use the computer. Can anyhere here help me to solve this problem??
    Thanks

@teishi: If you have been in contact with the contact centre, and they have confirmed that the device you are using is in fact associated with your account, next step would be for you to delete the "drm folder" on your PC:
DRM is an acronym for Digital Rights Management, a broad term used to describe a number of techniques for restricting the free use and transfer of digital content. DRM is used in the Nokia Music Store application. Occasionally you may receive an error which specifies a problem with the Digital Rigths Management.
This problem suggests that the DRM component of Windows is corrupt and is not recognising that you have a license in order to allow you to play, burn or transfer the tracks that you have downloaded.  In order to correct this error message you will need to reset the DRM folder on your PC. This is accomplished by first renaming the folder and then relaunching the track you are having difficulty with. To complete this process first close the Nokia Music application and/or Windows Media player then follow the steps below:
    Double Click on My Computer.
Double click on C: The DRM folder in both Windows XP and Vista is hidden by default so you will need to take the following steps to make it visible:
    Click Start, then Run.
Type control folders in the box and press Enter.
In the window that appears, select the View tab.
Select Show hidden files and folders.
Deselect Hide protected operating system files/folders.
Deselect Hide extensions for know file types
If you are using Windows XP, Browse to C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/DRM for Vista go to C:/ProgramData/Microsoft/Windows/DRM
Right click on the DRM folder and choose rename.
Rename the folder to DRMBACKUP [or something similar] Occasionally, attempting to rename this folder will cause an Access Denied error. If this occurs, follow the below steps otherwise continue to step 6.
Reset the DRM security component by going to http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=34506 and Clicking upgrade to upgrade the DRM security component Note: If the Upgrade button is greyed out You may need to install the Active -X control by right clicking on the security banner at the top of the windo and choosing Run Active X Control then clicking Run when the security window pops up.
Note: When you access this site through Internet Explorer on a Windows Vista-based computer, you may receive a user account control popup message that requires that you enter the administrator password to continue.
Note: If you are running Windows Vista x64 and the Upgrade button on the site listed earlier in this step appears dimmed, you will have to start Internet Explorer by using an account on the computer that has Administrative privileges in order to continue.
If the DRM protected tracks from Nokia Music Store are now played, your system will perform a security upgrade, which resets all the necessary DRM files. Each track requests a new license when first played.
If you are still receiving the error message, the DRM component can be manually installed from http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/crlupdate/en/crlupdate.html (Use Internet Explorer for this link). Once upgraded, try to play your downloaded tracks again. Each track should then request a new license when you first play it and will then play as normal and should be burnable to CD This will download new licenses for your entire library.
For additional information on DRM visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management
if this does not help, try to format your memory card and/or mass memory of you phone.
let me know if it doesn't help!

  • OVi Player does not allow download music with prox...

    Hello,
i've noticed that OVI Player deos not allow to download music when I am inside the firewall or under a corporate proxy. ANy idea if this is a restriction from Nokia Player or is it specific to my connection ?

    Dear svenks,
If you scroll down the discussion topics, you will realise many other users are facing music download problem after upgrading from Nokia Music to Ovi Player.
Same for me, whether I connect my WinXP Prof 32-bit notebk behind my company firewall or at my home's ADSL broadband with Windows Firewall off, antivirus off, http://music.ovi.com set as trusted site, the downloading still fails.
Per advised by Nokia careline, I have already sent them a log file and now waiting for their investigation.
I wonder if anyone in the world is currently successful in downloading songs using Ovi Player. If yes, I would really like to know what PC configuration they are running under.

  • Problem with the new OVI player - no access to com...

Yesterday i've done the forced update to the new OVI player - now for the second time. Two weeks ago i deinstalled the new player and returned to the old Nokia Player by reinstalling, but this doesn´t work any more. This time i have the same problem. The new player seems to run fine - much faster, but when i try to download (comes with music) a song the download doesn´t start. The symbol of the button is changing to the the dots but nothing happens. My account is ok, because download of songs with XpressMusic 5800 is possible.
I tried already a lot of things and now i'm going now a bit mad. Reinstalling the Ovi Player, reinstalling the whole Ovi Suite, reinstalling .NET Framework, checking and updating all OS components - I am using still Windows XP.
Is there anybody out there who has the same problem or anybody of the software developers that can help?

    Hi everyone,
I have encountered this issue before and at long last finally got a resolution. After following the steps provided to me, I was finally able to run Ovi Player, see the buttons sign in, comes with music and join now and login to my account. 4.             Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver

    1.             Delete the following folders if they are present, but first make hidden files and folders visible:
    a.                   Open a windows explorer window (for example, My Computer or My Documents).
    b.                  Go to Tools - Folder options…
    c.                   On View tab, go to Advanced Settings.
    d.                  Ensure that “Show Hidden files and folders” is selected.
    2.             After selecting “Show hidden files and folders”, delete the following folders:

***REINSTALL using this link: http://musicstore.nokia.com/download .aspx
***Open the application and on WELCOME TO OVI PLAYER page choose your location.
I am using Win XP also by the way so there you go guys... Hope it helps...

  • Failure to access music store via ovi player!!

Has anyone any idea how i get this system back online. In the Ovi player I click the Ovi Music tab, but only get the following message now.
We are very sorry but we cannot access the music store at this time
Please check your internet connection or try again later.
Worked fine up until the 23rd December.
    Thanks for all your support.
    MBK

I'm sorry but I get this almost every time myself and the whole service can't be trusted, I'd recommend just not using it whatsoever as it just can't cope with demand, as I was unable to download two albums I purchased either and this was because of the same error and neither the PC or mobile software seems to be able to cope with downloading from the service and I think the servers aren't able to cope.

  • Having trouble searching for music on Ovi Player

    Hi,
Is anyone else having this issue? Since the Ovi Player was 'Upgraded' yesterday, whenever I search an artist's name in the search field at the top of the home page, the player thinks for a few seconds, then returns to the same home page. The only artists catalogue I can view are the ones already on the home page, or under the various playlists. I also found that the Sign In button didn't work and I had to sign in via the Music Account at the bottom of the screen.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help. I don't see "Server Share" anywhere on Easy Find. Am I missing something? What's frustrating is, I was able to find something out of an excel file made yesterday. The search paramater was something that was one character short of the entire content of a cell. When I search for something that would be contained in another, longer (sentence-sized) cell, it does not find it. I have:
    Search For: File Contents
    Operator: Any word
    Comparison: Ignore Case
    Include: Netiher are checked
"Scan all files" checked in the settings thing.
I just tried Find Any File, and I don't see any option that allows me to search within a file? Looks like I can only search names of files along with date created, etc.

  • A problem with nokia ovi player on n8-00

    hello,
I'd like to have some help about nokia ovi player.
Recently I had a french singer (léo ferré) but ovi playe doesn't recognize this artist and so it doesn't how to classify this album so he rename some songs, use some single song as an album ...
And it's the same thing in my computer "my music" file. Ovi player consider some song as an album and not those song as part of an ablum.
This is really annoying because ovi player only does what it wants and i can't do anything to do what I want with ... !!!

I hope some one can help me, perhaps a nokia member team.

  • Nokia Music changed to Nokia Ovi Player - Lost 'Co...

    Hi there,
I installed Nokia Music onto my laptop several months ago and activated the free 'comes with music' offer which came with my mobile phone. After a recent update, the application changed to Nokia Ovi player. I am able to sign in with my original details now I have lost the offer. I've tried to re-enter my activation pin and was informed pin is already activated.
How can I get the original offer back?
    Nikki32

    Hi,
What I can advise is to completely remove Ovi player again from your computer thru Add/Remove Programs. You need to delete also the Ovi player components: Nokia Multimedia Common Components, PC Connectivity Solution and Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver. Then delete the following folders:
    XP:
    Nokia Ovi Player - C:\Program files\Nokia\Nokia Music
    MPlatform - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Mplatform
    Nokia Data Store - C:\Documents and settings\<<Windows username>>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store
    Nokia Ovi Player -  C:\Documents and settings\<<Windows username>>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Player
     Vista:
     Nokia Ovi Player - C:\Program files\Nokia\Nokia Music
     MPlatform - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Mplatform
Nokia Data Store - C:\Users\<<Windows Username>>\AppData\Local\Nokia Data Store
Nokia Ovi Player -  C:\Users\<<Windows Username>>\AppData\Local\Nokia Ovi Player
Then download the setup file again from the musicstore website(http://musicstore.nokia.com/) and install the Ovi Player.
This is actually the same email that I received from them and it worked for me. Hope it'll work for you too.
    Hope this helps.
