Ovi player PC registration after HDD format

Hello everybody!
I tried to look for other similar posts in the forum, but I didn't find any... So I decided to write one on my own, just to ask you why Ovi player refuses to register my laptop to use with a previously set Come with Music subscription
It worked fine untill I had to format the HDD and reinstall WindowsXP on the same machine, and now Ovi player feels it like it's a different one, but it's not! How can I register my same PC again without waiting 90 days before being able to download music from the store? I know my subscription (username and pass) is still valid, and will be until next june.

Are you getting a message about you already having the purchased activated serial number on two of your computers when you do not?
If not, I do not believe that Adobe Chat activation is going to help you. But, you could ask nonetheless.

    it's already late to say but it's always recommended to backup data on the external medias. First of all, don't touch your hard drive, I mean don't format/move partitions. Once, i had the same problem while creating acronis recovery zone on the hard drive. Something gone wrong and I lost some data that I wouldn't mind but I also had some files from webmoney system (its' virtual money that you can exchange for real one). I tried many programs like Ontrack.EasyRecovery.Professional and e.t.c. Only with Power.Data.Recovery software could restore it. note, it's not free but Google can help you

    Thank you for the info. No, I do not have the installation CD.
    I went to the suggestion website and downloaded the 'installation instructions' file (ii.txt). It gave me a list of items. Does the list reprent all the drivers to install? Or do I need to download all of them including the hot fixes?

    I've purchased a Tecra A9 notebook with Vista Business. I'd like to format it because there are a lot of tools and programms on it the notebook already that I do not need, and it's very slow.
    There is a "hidden partition", but if I use that to recover it installs all the tools and software.
    Luckily, there was a Vista Business DVD in the box.
    So I would use that one.
    Now my question: A few of the tools (Toshiba HDD-protection, Fingerprint-Software) seem useful and I'd like to reinstall them once it's all running again. Where can I download them? I did only find drivers on the Toshiba website.

    Please do not be mad on me but you make it pretty complicated. If you want to optimize operating system you must not install it again. Leave preinstalled version. Preinstalled version is perfectly configured and all hardware components will work well.
    All you must do is to remove Toshiba specific stuff that you do not want to use. Thats all!
    I do this all the time. I use recovery DVD for OS installation but after finishing the first thing I do is to remove preinstalled Norton or disable autostart of all disturbing tools or utilities.
    Before you reformat HDD try to make the same thing.

    Hi,
    I downloaded some applications a few weeks ago and now I formated my HDD. My question is: How can I get back my application without going to the specific application and manual download it again. Isn't there something in iTunes that knows which applications I got and then automaticly download them??? Among these applications are someones that I paid for. Will I get the applications without paying again??

    I tried to re-download the purchased applications and it still ask me for money. I really don't want to pay for them again. How can I get my applications back without buying them again. The applications are in Purchase History.

    I reformatted my hard drive the other day but the driver support for my laptop is poor.
    The sound drivers don't work, i have several unknown devices in device manager that need drivers but i'm not sure which drivers to install.

  • Ovi music player stopped working after 2 weeks. Ca...

    Dear all,
    I have had the Nokia OVI player with comes with music feature working fine for two weeks now.
    I am using a Windows 7 o/s.
    All of a sudden when I try to open Ovi I am greeted with a blank screen sign in screen. All I can see is the Home icon, comes with music, sign in and join now options.
    When I click on one of those buttons absolutely nothing happens.
    I have tried reinstalling and reinstalling after deleting the MDataStore.db3 from the dataApps folder on my hard drive but still the same thing happens.
    Please someone help! I feel cheated that I cannot download music when paying for this service.

    I am having a similar issue.  However I've had my airport express for over 3 years.  Yesterday we had to reset the router as it wasn't broadcasting.
    Today having same issue so we reset the router again.  And now still blinking amber.  When I go to the Airport Utility I can't even go to the Manual Setup as I'm getting the Error 4.  Internet works fine as the router and modem are hooked up to my computer via Ethernet cable.
    I did a factory reset and the AE is broadcasting again.  but I can't get in to protect the network.  And it's still blinking amber.
    Any thoughts would be great.

  • URGENT - NOKIA OVI PLAYER FAILURE AFTER WINDOWS 7 ...

    My Nokia Ovi Player has ceased to function following an automated update of Windows 7.   The update included 7 security tweaks, a malicious code remover tool and a security update specifically mentioning Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
    When I restore the computer to a point previous to the updates, the Ovi Player works fine.  I can only presume that there is a conflict as a result.
    The messages I receive tell me;
    "There has been a problem starting Ovi Player.  Running the Repair option for Ovi Player in the Add Remove Programs section of Windows Control Panel may resolve this problem."
    Followed by;
    "Nokia Ovi Player has stopped working.  Windows is checking for a solution to the problem."
    Neither method fixes the issue.
    Any ideas??  My phone is the Nokia 5800 and I have been successfully downloading music as part of the Comes With music package for 11 months.

    It's not the first time that Nokia has had to make Ovi Player catch up with changes that are introduced by Windows updates. A few months ago, there was a conflict between Ovi Player and the version of .Net Framework offered to users of the Dutch-language version of Windows.
    Unfortunately, if a full remove and reinstall (ie: don't just uninstall from Control Panel, also delete all Ovi Player files from the user folders) doesn't work, then it might just be that you have to wait for a new service release of Ovi Player before you can reapply those particular Windows updates. It's inconvenient, but using combinations of software from different providers that are constantly subject to changes and updates is frought with difficulty.
    Nokia seems to have dealt with past problems pretty quickly, so hopefully your situation will be no different.

  • Having problems installing Ovi player.

    This problem would not happen if I did not format my PC.
    After format using Vista SP2, I can't install my  Ovi Player but before the format it was fine.
    The installation starts normally but until half way the downloading process the status turns to fail and says network error.
    What is the problem ?
    I have tried every solution on the internet. From turning off all anti virus programs to deleting files in registry.

  • Ovi Player only displays .mp3 files on my N97

    Hi all,
    I'm having problems with Ovi Player. First it caused severe problems with my music library app on the phone, which wasn't able to read any files from the file system. I managed to fix this by formatting the whole mass storage.
    Later, after importing music files from PC to N97, Ovi Player doesn't display any.m4a files (which I ripped from original CDs using the very same application!), only .mp3 ones. Any ideas on possible causes and solutions?

  • Nokia Ovi Player License Problem(Need Help Asap)

    Greetings to everyone,
    I am using nokia ovi player to download songs as I have gt the license to do so since i bought an X6 but now after i have restored my laptop i was told to redownload DRM by the ovi player.The problem is it does not want to download DRM as an error comes out that states it is not authorised to use the computer.Can anyhere here help me to solve this problem??

    @teishi: If you have been in contact with the contact centre, and they have confirmed that the device you are using is in fact associated with your account, next step would be for you to delete the "drm folder" on your PC:
    DRM is an acronym for Digital Rights Management, a broad term used to describe a number of techniques for restricting the free use and transfer of digital content. DRM is used in the Nokia Music Store application. Occasionally you may receive an error which specifies a problem with the Digital Rigths Management.
    This problem suggests that the DRM component of Windows is corrupt and is not recognising that you have a license in order to allow you to play, burn or transfer the tracks that you have downloaded.  In order to correct this error message you will need to reset the DRM folder on your PC. This is accomplished by first renaming the folder and then relaunching the track you are having difficulty with. To complete this process first close the Nokia Music application and/or Windows Media player then follow the steps below:
    Double Click on My Computer. 
    Double click on C: The DRM folder in both Windows XP and Vista is hidden by default so you will need to take the following steps to make it visible: 
    Click Start, then Run.
    Type control folders in the box and press Enter.
    In the window that appears, select the View tab. 
    Select Show hidden files and folders. 
    Deselect Hide protected operating system files/folders. 
    Deselect Hide extensions for know file types
    If you are using Windows XP, Browse to C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/DRM for Vista go to C:/ProgramData/Microsoft/Windows/DRM
    Right click on the DRM folder and choose rename.
    Rename the folder to DRMBACKUP [or something similar] Occasionally, attempting to rename this folder will cause an Access Denied error. If this occurs, follow the below steps otherwise continue to step 6. 
    Reset the DRM security component by going to http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=34506 and Clicking upgrade to upgrade the DRM security component Note: If the Upgrade button is greyed out You may need to install the Active -X control by right clicking on the security banner at the top of the windo and choosing Run Active X Control then clicking Run when the security window pops up. 
    Note: When you access this site through Internet Explorer on a Windows Vista-based computer, you may receive a user account control popup message that requires that you enter the administrator password to continue. 
    Note: If you are running Windows Vista x64 and the Upgrade button on the site listed earlier in this step appears dimmed, you will have to start Internet Explorer by using an account on the computer that has Administrative privileges in order to continue. 
    If the DRM protected tracks from Nokia Music Store are now played, your system will perform a security upgrade, which resets all the necessary DRM files. Each track requests a new license when first played. 
    If you are still receiving the error message, the DRM component can be manually installed from http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/crlupdate/en/crlupdate.html (Use Internet Explorer for this link). Once upgraded, try to play your downloaded tracks again. Each track should then request a new license when you first play it and will then play as normal and should be burnable to CD This will download new licenses for your entire library.

  • How to change default Ovi Player store ...

    Hi, 
    I need help from you people.  
    I had installed Ovi Player. Whenever I try to open Ovi Player, the default store gets’ open is "India". I change the store location to "Germany". When I do the search for particular music, it will again take me to "India" store instead of "Germany" store. In addition, most annoying is that I have to re-login but my user id and password will not work as its different store. Also when I go via music.nokia.de and try to login, it open Ovi player and since default location is "India", it takes me to India store and my login credentials do not work.  
    I ask Nokia care on how to change default Ovi Player Store location but they are unable to provide any good answer.  
    I already un-install / re-installed but won't work. Do any of you have answer to my problem? I want my default Ovi Player location to be "Germany" instead of "India".  
    More information, my regional settings have location as “Germany” and language as “English”.  
    Please help.

     Thank you for your response.
     This error is sometimes caused by a corrupted MDataStore.db3 file used by the Ovi Player.  This file will need to be deleted with the Ovi Player closed.  Then open the player and the datastore file will be rewritten by the application:
     Close Ovi Music Player and delete the MDataStore.db3 file:
     Vista C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
     XP C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
     Both of these locations are in hidden folders.  So, to view them users will need to: 
     Open Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders
    Once Ovi Music is opened again the MDataStore.db3 file will be rewritten to this folder.
      After that manipulation try to install the Ovi Player once again:

    i had installed nokia music store player, after update avilable I update my player to OVI Player but it did not start. The player display Application error and automatically closed.

    after i click CANCLE button it againg display NokiaOviPlayer encount problem.

    Similar problem here. Havn't used ovi player in a while but when I open it now, Message stating "Nokia Ovi Player has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Win will close and notify you if solution is avail"  However no additional information is given.  This occurs immediatly on startup.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled ovi player to no avail. I am running Vista and Ovi Suite seems to be working correctly?  Any Suggestions?

    I'm trying (and trying, and trying) to get Ovi Player to work properly. I might be really fu''''ng dumb, but why does my library contain more and more duplicates and non-working songs?
    Ok, i get that it's because i've moved around _alot_ of music files, renamed, retagged, and so on and so forth - but why dosn't Ovi Player get it? Is there a big red "UPDATE LIBRARY NOW AND REMOVE OUTDATED STUFF *BEEP BEEP*"-button somewhere that i'm just... not... seeing?
    My last not-so-genious move was to manually try to delete all 15000 songs from the library. Which - of course - made the program freeze, steadily chunking away at 40-60% of my cpu (the other 40-50% is ocupated by that nice little useless NokiaMserver.exe thingie)
    NokiaMserver.exe. W-T-F-?! If i'm using a good app like, say, Songbird, my laptop goes to it's knees immediately - especially if i'm retagging stuff, or something similar. Seriously, 30-40% cpu? without me running a Nokia app and having no intention of hooking up my phone for the moment?
    And... my laptop isn't allt bad, P8400 cpu, 4 gig ram..
    I would appreciate a bit of help. :-)

    (and don't get me started on the battery life of my N86, or how often it freezes with the only solution being removing the battery, or the non-working GPS, or one of a kazillion more little annoyances. Yeh, it did indeed have a shutter for the 8mp-camera, but man... why didn't i get that SE w995 anyway.)

    depends how knackered your file system is & how much music you have, as to whether it'll be quick/easy, but one thing that does seem to work is if you make sure that your 'music folder location' in ovi player is correct & then delete the albums etc with duplicates in them from inside ovi player, choosing delete from 'my music collection only'. the album will then disappear from ovi player, but when you close & restart ovi player it will rebuild its lists based on whatever is actually in your music folder location - if there's only one album, it will now only reimport that album with no duplicates etc
    wouldn't advise deleting too many at one time though, since ovi will have to reimport a lot of tracks when you restart it - & ovi doesn't seem to be the most stable application at the best of times . . .
