Ovi Suite 2.0 - Notes wont sync

OK what am I doing wrong I cant get everything to sync with my outlook bar the notes! Calander and contacts work everytime regardless of whether I use cable or bluetooth but notes never works. Used to work with Nseries suite and my N95 though...

Hi ande_ellis,
I have a slight doubt here, may be i may wrong
When i tried to sync my notes with Nokia N97 V 12.0.024 RM-505 with Outlook 2003, XP SP-3, Nokia OVI Suite 2.0, once sync is successful, i can see my notes on Nokia N97 on the following options
Nokia N97's Menu > Applications > Notes.
But if you are looking your notes in Nokia N97 in following option, i guess you may not be seeing the notes
Nokia N97's Menu > Applications > Office > Active Notes.
Options may be different in Nokia N95 and Nokia N97.
So could you please check if your notes got synched in Nokia N97's Menu > Applications > Notes.
Hope it will

  • Ovi Suite + 5230 USB not working

    Preamble:
I recently connected my Nokia 5230 mobile phone to my PC via USB connection and loaded up Ovi Suite (2.2.1.23). Everything worked lovely. But alas! Both an Ovi suite update was available, as well as a update for the phone itself! So I downloaded the latest version of Ovi Suite (3.0.0.284).
Unfortunately, now Ovi Suite does not detect when I select "PC Suite" USB mode (selected on the phone screen). This essentially makes Ovi Suite useless.
So I followed some advice on other discussion pages (more on that later) and reinstalled the Ovi Suite. The problem persisted.
Here are some pictures to help you understand my problem:
    http://i.imgur.com/5IknF.jpg
The computer is able detect the phone is connected via USB. I can even browse the contents of the phone memory and memory card. Upon detecting the connected phone, and me pressing 'PC Suite' on the phone screen, it will show this:
    http://i.imgur.com/lV0rs.jpg
I cannot progress past this screen. The Ovi Suite simply does not recognise that I've selected that option on the phone.
    Defense:
I know what your thinking. "Just another USB thread". Well, I did in fact read plenty of threads on this forum before posting, and have spent the last few hours uninstalling and reinstalling Ovi Suite and drivers in various ways (as suggested in those threads), with no success.
The following is a list of forum threads which I have read and tried all the solutions found in each, and I have copied the solutions (which appear to have worked for other people), for your convenience:

Solutions which did not work for me:
Could you please follow these steps and check?
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and PC suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
    1. Uninstall all nokia related applications like Ovisuite, pc suite, connectivity cable driver,pc connectivity solutions, nokia software updater etc. from ur PC.
    2. Restart your PC
    3. Now download and install the recent ovisuite from http://www.ovi.com/suite
    4. After installation, disconnect/disable your internet connection (this will make sure that the PC use the drivers which comes with ovisuite and  prevent the PC from downloading any new drivers from internet) and then connect your mobile and wait for drivers and support software installation.
    5. After drivers installation you can connect your mobile to ovisuite from ovisuite screen.

Solution which did not work for me:
    Hi GannonC,
Uninstall the following Programs, if any, from Control Panel -> Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs.
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    Nokia Ovi Suite
    PC Connectivity Solution
Later download and install the latest OVi Suite from the following location.
    http://www.ovi.com/suite
After OVi Suite installation, restart your PC, disconnect your internet from PC and connect your mobile to the PC. This is to prevent the PC searching for a new drivers from internet. OVi suite has all the required drivers for all the nokia phones available in market.
Once all the required drivers are installed automatically, you try connecting the mobile by selecting 'Connect your device' from the bottom left on the OVi suite screen. You should be able to connect your device now.
After connecting you can go ahead and update your maps/ download new country maps.
NOTE: before updating your maps/ download new country maps, you should have used your maps in you mobile atleast once.
Hope this will resolve your issue.
You can connect back your internet anytime after the drivers installation.

I just uninstalled the 3 items and downloaded and installed as prescribed by going to nokia.com/support and downloading and reinstalling Ovi Suite.... Merry Christmas

After re-starting the computer, I also followed this portion of a suggestion from another post (don't know if it made a difference or not):
"connected the device, waited till all the drivers were loaded.
    Then launched Ovi suite"
     (From /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/E52-Sync-Error-8393f010-838c03ee/m-p/740481)
Ovi Suite then recognized my device and the sync appears to have gone smoothly.  I hope it works for you too!  It's ridiculous that it causes so many problems though--I've wasted many hours on something that should have installed correctly the first time.

    Zship's revelations:
So this is not really a problem for me. I have the working, older (2.2.1.23) version of Ovi Suite installed on my netbook, and sure enough, it works fine, I just tried it. I wont be updating Ovi Suite on it though. I also could probably just download the update via 3.5G using just the phone itself, but the problem remains that a simple software update has caused a critical connectivity problem between your software and hardware. Given that many Nokia customers would have less technical know-how than say, myself or anyone else on this forum, this problem is a quite likely a huge inconvenience to them, they probably wouldn't visit these discussions and spend 5 hours reinstalling software like I just did, and they surely would be thinking twice before purchasing another Nokia device in the future.
tl;dr - Nokia recommended update breaks connectivity between software and device, various attempts to fix seemingly simple problem don't work.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

SAME PROBLEM. And none of the many suggested solutions has worked for me yet. I want to thank all on this thread (and many others) for their help. I've learned a lot but I haven't gotten to the bottom of it. I think maybe Nokia needs to ... uh ... bloody well BOTHER TO FIX THIS ISSUE themselves, maybe. Like, cuz they're PAID FOR IT and I'M NOT. Harrumph.
I run Windows XP, and was on Media Player 11, but have rolled back to 9 and 10. I have a Nokia E 72. I have all the latest Nokia cable-drivers, PC Suite, OVI Suite, Connectivity software, etc.. The symptoms are as follows: when I plug in the phone by USB cable, the laptop won't recognize it. It says "USB device faulty" or "failed to load properly" and refuses to get the hardware into its brain. The Device Manager shows only a "Unknown Device" which I cannot install drivers onto. Taking the extra media-card out of the phone doesn't make any difference -- nothing I've done will make the computer recognize the main (built-in) card in the phone. I can't browse to it via any sort of populate / repopulate disk drive, or any other method of connecting it.
As I understand it, this is some conflict with the phone and the new concept of MTP. Media Transfer Protocol confuses the computer, causing it to kind-of think that the phone is kind-of a media player, when in fact it's a whole lot more. So, the "parent" doesn't get loaded, then the rest of the phone doesn't get loaded, then it kind-of tries to load some MTP but fails, etc.. If I could browse to the phone through a non-Nokia connection I'd be happy to do so in order to implement any of a number of the suggestions above. But I can't get the computer to recognize the phone when the phone is plugged in by USB, regardless of all the solutions above.
The problem began a few days ago. It just up and wouldn't recognize the phone. I hadn't installed any updates that I knew of on either item, but it's possible that my memory is faulty and a newer version of this or that snuck in there and screwed it all up. I have tried a serious roll-back to a Restore Point about six weeks old, but that didn't solve the problem. This suggests to me that the problem is phone-resident, since the rollback was to a computer-based Restore Point and I don't have phone rollback capability.
This seriously hampers me. PC Suite, OVI, and some future version of Nokia Suite, will all be useless to me unless Nokia accomplishes the stunning act of supporting their software. I won't hold my breath. Just in general, you'd think that plug-and-play of a phone into your computer would be a lot simpler. Just take the cord -- stick it in the phone; stick it in the computer -- and shazam, you're plugged in. But NOOOOOO we're on NOOOOOOKIA ... Now I know why Microsoft wanted to buy them so badly. They knew they'd all get along and have the same assumptions about software -- that it doesn't really matter whether it works reliably on a user's computer at his home, as long as it works in theory on some programmer's ideal personal computer in Seattle once in a rare while. Nokia? Meet Microsoft. Microsoft? You and Nokia will get along juuuust fiiiine ...

  • Ovi suite and N8 won't sync.

Hi everyone! I have my N8 working perfectly and i have successfully installed ovi suite 3.O.O.290.

Here is my problem! It will saty stuck at this particular step and won't connect or go any further! I have been able to perform the phone update from ovi suite but i can't sync contacts photos or anything. Phone's content won't appear! THX

  • Ovi Suite 3.0 Not Connecting to 5230 via Bluetooth

    Hello,
Got the 5230 for Christmas, very very pleased with it, but I have run into a small snag.
I have onstalled Ovi Suite 3.0 on my laptop (Vista) and bluetooth visability is on on both mobile phone and laptop. I can connect to the device through  my normal bluetooth connectivity from the bluetooth tray icon, and I have successfully transferred some music over to my mobile phone.
When I try and add the device on Ovi Suite, it finds my device name, yet when I click on my device, and click "Next" I get the following message:
"Bluetooth modem might need to be installed on your computer".
Ovi Suite then seems to spend a long amount of time "checking" the device, and eventually, a pop up comes up with "Could not detect device".
I have tried and tried (and searched and searched for the solution) and I have had no luck!
I'm running Windows Update to see  if it will make any difference; can anyone offer any ideas of how to get this working!

    Hi saylinen,
I followed your instruction. I dont have to accept now all the time. But Ovi-Suite still is not able to establish the connection.
In my hardwaremanager I found under "Modems" the "PC Connectivity Bluetooth Modem". There under properties in the tab "modem" is written "connection: COM5"
Under COM&LPT Connections in the COM5 properties the connection is located as "path 2 (Bluetooth_Device)". The connection is refered as ok.
In the bluetooth configuration of my laptop I find a tab "local services". There is a table containing several rows. One is "serial bluetooth connection; Start: automatically; secure connection: obligatory; COM-Port: COM3". No other COM-Ports listed.
In the tab Client applications is another table containing the row "Application name: Serial Bluetooth Connection; Secure Connection: Obligatory; COM-Port: COM4".
In non of the tabs is an entry for COM5. Maybe this is a hint for the problem?
(I added the max of 3 screenshots of the described menues. In the answer on the question from satari I will add some more. Unfortunately is my system german.)
Best thanks for your quick response

  • OVI Suite 2.0 doesn't sync with Lotus Notes!

I am disgusted with the new OVI 2.0! First it keeps bugging me to download and install it. Next I found out that it doesn't support sync with Lotus Notes. Unlike my Nokia PC Suite v 7.0, it doesn't sync at all with Lotus Notes.
Even worst, Nokia claimed that OVI Suite is the only application available from them.
What am I to do with my calendar and contacts entries on my Notes then? I will not hesitate to switch to a different mobile phone maker if Nokia doesn't fix this problem!

    saylinen wrote:
Hi, recommendation is to use Lotus Notes Traveler for S60 application for using Nokia device with Lotus Notes. Lotus Notes Traveler for S60 supports syncing email, contacts and calendar over the air with Lotus Notes servers.
That's recommended way to sync Nokia device's with Lotus Notes.
The Lotus Notes Traveler might be recommended, though I am working in a company that provides Lotus Notes Traveler it is not an alternative for me, since:
    a. The company does not pay the data traffic costs on my phone, so I must cover the cost of use of Traveler from my own pocket.
    b. Traveler have impractical limitations in the range of how long in the future calendar data is sync'ed.
Now, that is my situation, but not all companies does provide or plan to provide their employees with Lotus Notes Traveler, but they allows their employees to choose their phones themselves. You can say I am just being difficult, but they who have no alternatives are not. For them it is Nokia being difficult.
The current solution for most of us is to continue using Nokia PC Suite until it is time for a new phone, and then change to another mobile phone provider, if Nokia still has no new solution for sync'ing with Lotus Notes.
It is not wise of Nokia to remove a feature from its software that have made people loyal so far, and changing to other phones is, as we all know, easy, and Nokia can not afford to lose more customers. As customers most of us can, however, easily live without Nokia. I abandoned Ericsson some ten years ago as they did not provide new features and functions as Nokia then did. Now it is Nokia that discontinues features and functions and is slow to implement new ones.
With the exception of the calendar and contacts, which can be sync'ed as long as the PC Suite works, the Nokia backup solution does not backup much I can not backup by using the memory card and a computer (and/or the USB cable), and it will be a simple matter to drop that back into a mobile phone from another provider, and sync my calendar and contacts into it as well.
I believe Nokia employees reading these discussions should forward their concern to their colleagues and superiors at Nokia, and I know the culture in many Finnish companies implies a relatively flat structure and allows for good contact along the lines of command in the companies, so I believe that can be done.
I would like to be able to continue using Nokia, but I am more dependent on features and functionality than brand.
My postings are done on basis of my own opinions, and are not done on behalf of organizations I am or have been member of, nor employers I have or have had.

    Hi all,
    New user of an e71.
    I have Windows 7 32 bit
    Outlook 2007
I have tried both versions of Ovi Suite (2 and 3), and the contact sync is absolutely terrible.  I have no confidence that I am getting the proper info at either place.  It either munges the contact at the phone, or in Outlook.
A simple fix for this would be to follow RIM's lead, and allow OVI to choose (before the sync), which side wins when in conflict.  (or stop the sync on each conflict, and allow us to choose the one which is correct)
Anyhow, after fighting OVI for over two weeks, I uninstalled OVI and tried PC Suite 7 for the first time, and it synced my contacts and all other notes, tasks, and calendar items like magic.
Love the GUI on OVI Suite, but I can't keep fighting this sync issue.

  • Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 sync outlook 2003 broken

A new version of OVI = a new host of problems. When are you going to get it right Nokia! Pathetic! I cannot believe how much time I have had to waste to get this fixed.
Ok, enough of the rant. Now for my solution:
Uninstall Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 + USB Connectivity driver + Software Updater i.e. anything that is called “Nokia …”
    Reboot.
Run the Nokia PC Suite Cleaner – I used Nokia_PC_Suite_Cleaner_7_1_1.exe
    Reboot.
Install Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245, or whatever version you were using before that actually worked.
One other thing I did was turn my anti-virus off for each step but this may not be necessary. My OS is XP SP3.

I am not sure whether this will work for you but please try it one.
    1. Uninstall Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove program if anything is there.
    2. Delete the files from here If anything is there
    C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Nokia\Ovi Suite
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache
    3. Please search and download MSI clean up utility from microsoft website
Once installed please select the programs related to Nokia and click remove.
    Restart Computer.
Then download from microsoft website and install Windows Installer, so that the installer is upto date.
    4. Now download and install latest NOS and try to sync

  • OVi Suite 2.0.2.42 Syncing Music Problem N97

    Hi,
I have tried to sync the music from my system to my N97 handset using OVi Suite (OVi is runnning on Windows 7) and the sync process was successful but I'm facing problem in finding the song files now in Nokia N97.
I have choosen the  Mass memory for the sync path, but I'm unable to provide a path say (E:/my_music). It takes default path of E:/Music. Is there any way to change this path from Music to some other path.
Under music folder, the song files are copied further under an artist folder. Why OVi suite while syncing categorizes the music files on artist basis. I don't have that artist folder in my hard drive. Why its not maintaning the same folder structure as its on my hard drive. Is there any way to achieve this.
    Thanks,
    nazz

I still like PC Suite as it treats the file as data files and maintains the folder structur unlike Ovi. Only problem which I have seen with PC suite is that it does not allow you to create multiple watch points.

I have latest Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23 installed and have tried to uninstall/install the suite+connectivity drivers several times without any success. So please do not recommend such procedure...
What does this error mean exactly? Where do I have to search the conflict?

It just says: Computer memory is full
I have repaired the cable driver but it doesn't help. Still can't sync messages. In the picture (if you even see it) is Task manager, the error report and Windows Explorer. No memory is full...

  • OVI Suite messes up contact when syncing my N8. Wh...

Tried this to confirm these problems:
    1) Deleted all contacts in OVI Suite and on the phone.
    2) Restored the contacts from OVI sync to be sure they are OK
    3) Checked that standard values are set for phone, sms and e-mail
    4) Synced with OVI suite, no contacts updated on phone, all updated in OVI Sync
    5) Did another sync with OVI Suite straight at once.
Now these annoying problems has occured on the phone (and in OVI suite):
    a) Standard settings have been lost for all other than phone. This is annoying becuase the phone will now ask when sending SMS if you want to use the phone number or the e-mail address :-(
    b) Most of the contact have a "Note" added with the text "<< unnamed >>". This is annoying because this not is displayed next to the contacts picture instead of the name or address :-(
So WHY is OVI Suite removing the standard settings for messages?
And WHY is OCI Suite adding the "<< unnamed >>" note for most (but not all) contacts?
(tried to find some logic, but can't find any thing common about the contacts changed)

For me even the regular sync gives lot of problems. I can't find the simplest setting of "One way Sync, i.e. only from Mobile to Ovi Suite". And that's what has been creating a problem for me.
Whenever I sync my contacts with Ovi using Ovi Suite many of my updates (which I'd made on the phone since last Sync) are lost.
    This is quite irritating!
@Nokia: Please suggest any solution for this issue.

  • Nokia Ovi Suite install does not complete

I am trying to install Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller_ALL.exe file ver 3.1.975.40757  and product version 3.1.0.0 on my windows vista Home Premium.
The installation seems to be stuck, i.e. not proceeding forward.
    Please let me know how to go about solving this. Attached is the dump from C:\Users\All Users\NokiaInstallerCache\ProductCache\{D5878294-C113-43c5-A24F-FC333C52015A}\{3FC42713-B6E7-49AA-A553-A224FE9828A8}

    Could you please try this?
    1. Make Sure all Windows Update are run.
    2. Run the following MSI packages

    3. These packages should be installed successfully
    4. After this a repair of NOS is required from Add/Remove or Program and Features in Control Panel. Select NOS and click remove/uninstall then click the repair button. After this the customer can try to sync.

Surely it is not too much to ask.

  • Nokia Ovi Suite 2.0 and Calendar Sync

Why did Nokia get rid of the calendar sync function that allows a user to sync years into the future and past.
Nokia Ovi Suite is a poor replacement for Nokia PC Suite.
    Switching back.

I sync with Outlook calendar all the time.  Ovi Suite also takes all the time in the world to sync, but the ability is there.

  • Ovi Suite (latest version) not recognizing my devi...

I have just installed Ovi Suite and get this message when trying to recognize my N97: "port_#0002.Hub_#0007"
I installed PC Suite and it recognized my phone at once.
    Any suggestions?

Well I again repeated the posting by 'stray-photon' but it wasn't a quark! No it did not work I removed all the Nokia sftware, I ran the Nokia cleaner, I rebooted, I downloaded for the sixth time the Ovi suite and I installed it.
This time I did  NOT let windows look for a driver to recognise the device I cancel that bulletin. OVI proceeded by it's self. It found recognised and named the 5800XM. This time it asked for my Nokia account and sign in - that has not happened before - are the software chaps and chapeses not adhering to software realese progressions!!!! Tut! Tut! When this had finshed it present the OVI primitive styled screen and as anticipated went into the 'setting up..' phase seemingly ad infinitum. It does occasionally seem to send a packet to the internet but I have no means of proving that as I do not have a sniffer. It cannot find the map server or indeed do anything else. Structurally the map server should be a separate entity so maybe they have a common issue.
So now three weeks to my knowledge Nokia have known about this fundemental problem and in three weeks nothing has happened. In three week a connection can be made to almost anything. I can only assume from this that  it is a) of low priority - sold the device so who cares or b) the software dept have other higher priorities == a) or b) no one is actually capable of doing it or c) OVI is structurally incompatible with Xp = BAD design.
Which ever, they are treating their customers with zero respect. In over 40 years I have connected many different devices from pyrometers to weigh scales to radio data terminals they are all easier than printers used to be. Nokia wake up, face the music and deliver.
