OVI Suite 2.2.0.241 connection issues

Hey guys, seriously what's wrong with nokia?
PC suite used to work, and they go ahead and changed it to ovi suite which doesn't work!
N95/96 used to work, and they came up with n97 which is a headache! What's the matter with nokia?
How many people here who have ovi suite 2.2.0.241 that works? I can't get this lil devil to install updates or backup my data on N97.
These nokia things have destroyed me mates.

Good advice from Rad (as usual), I use Ovi Suite and haven't had a problem, if on occasion the phone fails to connect quickly removing and re-inserting the usb cable usually works (as it did with PC Suite !) but the final solution is a clean install, but you need to go to add and remove programmes and remove EVERYTHING with Nokia or Ovi in the title, including drivers. Also just leaving things for a few minutes sometimes gives the phone and computer time to 'bond' !
@Radical24, quiet day at the office ? you seem to be spending a lot of time on here ! surely photography must be more appealing ?

    Hey,
    This is just my experience
For storing SMSs, i have chosen my memory card.
Whenver i tried to use my phone in Mass storage device(even after safely removing the hardware option ), after disconnecting the phone, whenever new message comes, it will say, messages will be saved on phone memory only   which is i felt is fewer devices which has got memory card, mass memory and phone memory.
When your SMSs are stored in Memory card and if you have synched, then all ur messages will get sycnhed with Nokia Ovi Suite, as in my case, i was surpriesed to see not all the messages are synched, then i realised whenver i connect my phone as mas storage, then i wll manually go to settings on messaging, select memory card/mass storage(which ever you have selected for storing your SMSs), you can select and then sync.
As i said earlier, this was my exp, May b this cud also b in ur case too.

in PC suite, I can choose the different folder to sync with my Nokia device, I downloaded previous versions of Ovi Suite several times when it is released, but everytime I am disappointed, then I remove Ovi Suite and use the PC suite again.
Is this time still letting me disappointed or giving me supprising??
Nokia, it is shame on you, when you release a new suite, but remove all useful function in your program, I guess you have a very detailed specification for the PC Suite, but why not develope your new Ovi suite according to the latest PC suite specification??
I am not disappointed with the Ovi Suite itself, but disappointed your way of working really!!

    Hi,
I'm trying to uninstall my OVI Suite, but the software always reinstall, over and over again. I do it through the pointer remove programs in WinXP.
Where I find the menu uninstall in the ovi suite, if this menu is not showed?
Has someone a good idea to delete it? ( Register, Folders....)
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
I have just the same issue and I don't have any idea about how to fix it! :-)
Is there anyone who can suggest how to proceed?

  • Help me !! Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241 can neither be inst...

The upgrad of the OVI suite 2.1 to version 0.241 caused a Vista installation and
a win7 installation to run in problems to recognize a nokia 5800.
After the update: neither the ovi suite 0.241 of the vista OS nor the win7 OS
could recognize the nokia 5800 any more.(driver could not be installed)
I de-installed the ovi suite on both systems and tried to re-install again.
I managed this on the win7 system ( to do this i had to clear all nokia folders and also clean
all registry entrys of the ovi installation).
Finally the re-installation of the ovi suite 0.241 on win7 OS was done.without problems
The great problem is the vista system.
i also cleaned the whole system with entries of the ovi-suite, nokia installation, folders
registry and so on.(i used special software to to this professionally).
    Now the following problem resists:
If i want wo install the new ovi-suite i get a screen either to repair or to de-install the
    ovi-suite.
Both possibilities lead to an error code 1610/1612.
So i can not install and i can not repair nor can i deinstall the ovi-suite.
I feel sure, that i have cleaned all folders and the registry from the installation of the
    ovi-suite 2.1
Please give me some hints what i can try more to manage the re-installation.
    My ideas run out.

    thatsa,
If you can't uninstall or upgrade your installation you can use Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove Ovi Suite so that it's possible to reinstall it. http://www.filestube.com/2889cc34930c97e403ea/go.html . Microsoft used to offer this utility online, but have removed it. The file behind filestube link has Microsoft's digital signature so it should be safe to use.

  • New Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241 problems

I though that it was going to be different to the older version when I downloaded it and tried it again this week.
    It doesn't seem to be improved at all;
    - Backup - the SD card is included and can't be left out of the backup cycle! This takes a tremendous amount of time and space.
    - Synchronisation - No details of changes are given and no report of changes made.
    - Calendar sync - I need to keep years of calendar history and appointments months into the future. No good.
    - Photos - I don't need to know I have 18,000+ photos on my PC. This part seems useless. I can't seem to be able to back up/sync selected folders (camera shots only) from phone to PC.
    - Software updates seems to be buggy and not connecting.
    - Overall is slow and unresponsive.
    - It takes waaay to long to start up and to do a sync.
It this new Ovi Suite for teenagers or for business?
It's no good for my business.
I do sincerely hope Nokia keeps supporting PC Suite, because it is the only software that gets the job done for me.

  • PC Suite 7.1.30.9 connectivity issue xp pro and E6...

Ive just spent 3 solid hours trying to connect my E65 to my xp pro pc.
Ive read all manner of threads and ive tried :
    1.removing nokia pc suite
    2.remove nokia connectivity cable driver
    3.reboot
    4.turn off mobile phone
    5.turn on mobile phone
    6.reinstall PC Suite 7.1.30.9
7.reinstall Nokia connectiviy Cable Driver Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_rel_6_82_4_eng.zip
    8. switching usb ports
9.switching phones (also have exact problem with nokia 6280)
    10. pc suite connection wizard
11.pc suite mode / data stoarge mode / sychronisation from mobile
    12. directly upgrading usb driver from device manager on pc
    13. changing cables.
(and yes the ports and cable connectors are dirt/dust free)
14.repairing nokia pc suite from add remove programs on pc
    15. turning off all firewalls / antivirus
and timing the combination of the above in different order.
in case i ran over a bus of chinamen i didnt know about ive just bought another cable off ebay which should come this week (making this the 3rd cable)
the resounding answers im picking up from all manner of forum threads is that pc suite USED to work (which in my case it did) until i did the probably retarded thing and upgraded it to the latest (which is popularly recommended).
so, im asking for more advice really, as to what could possibly be wrong that i have not done or thought of, to make my pc realise that i have connected my E65 and 6280.
I guess the resounding piece of evidence is that in device manager the connection displays as an unknown usb device....................(these 2cables did work with an older version of pc suite i might add some months ago, so im not altogether sold on the idea that they both could be stuffed)
thanks for reading and in the event, thank you for answering, ill check back soon.
    Cheers

  • Ovi suite problem with V 50

    Hey all,
I have a nokia 5800 xpress music and I just update the software to V 50 using the ovi suite but I can't sync my phone with the program or to download new themes since then it keeps rolling and saying setting up, I tried to fix this by repairing and uninstalling ovi suite but it didn't work, I searched for an answer and I couldn't find one, so is this a public problem with no solution or what.
I like the new software although it eats the battery but it is cool, so can anyone help

I'm also having the same problem, although with a different phone, I don't think the phone model matters in this case.
Here are the steps I did :
Downloaded the Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 from the Nokia Canada web site.  To confirm whether it is the E72 phone or the PC that is the problem, I tried to connect from another computer with Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241 connected to my phone, and from this other computer (a work colleague's computer), it was able to connect just fine.
On my PC, I had Nokia PC Suite installed previously, which I've since removed and then re-installed Ovi Suite several times, and tried Repair of Ovi Suite.  Nothing seems to work.
One observation that may be related, I noticed the "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" in my list of programs in Control Panel and removed it, rebooted many times (after uninstall) and after re-install (just to be safe), still no luck.  It looks like after re-installing Nokia Ovi Suite, it appeared again in the list.
Any ideas out there?  The message "Setting up" is where I'm stuck.  I'm wondering if I can try downloading an older version of Ovi Suite, or install a diagnostic program (or tool to cleanup the registry after removal of Ovi Suite)

  • Ovi Suite Won't Connect to Internet

Downloaded and installed Ovi Suite.  It won't connect to server through the computer's wifi connection.  All other internet-related programs are connecting and working just fine.  I have gone into my firewall and made sure that Ovi Suite is allowed to connect.
Seriously, **bleep**?  Nokia just keeps going further and further downhill.  I can't stand iPhones, but at least they work.  Help me to get with working before I fly to Scandinavia and throw my brickphone at the CEO's fat Finnish head.

  • Ovi Suite silently connecting to Internet via Phon...

Since upgrading to Ovi Suite (2.2.1.23) I've found that it will silently connect to the Internet via my phone (E72) if there is any interruption to my wifi connection. I guess that it's tyring to do something "smart" and keep my connection alive, but at the expense of my mobile data plan.
I've managed to spot this as the speed drops markedly, but I don't think that I'd be so lucky if I was in an Internet cafe etc. where the difference in service might not be so great.
I haven't seen anyone else report this exact issue, although Ovi Suite does seem keen to connect via the phone instead of established Internet for some operations.
So have I missed something in the setup that can stop this?

This seems to be working now. I tried today to download US maps and it completed and installed without any issues. Guess there was some problem with the map server.

  • Connecting e52 to Ovi Suite

I want to backup my phone contacts and I tried to install Ove Suite on my pc. My problem is, that I can't connect the phone. Even if I use the cable and choose pc suite on the phone, it seems like there are no connection between my laptop and e52. How can I solve this? can I find a more easy way to synk my contacts?

In ovi suite Go t Tools-->Options->Connect to internet. There you select Home country and home operator. This will connect your mobile yo net. Then Go to Ovi.com Se up ovi - sync. A seetings message sent to your mobile save those. Then go to tools--> sync and click on ovi.com. Then all your contacts are made a copy on ovi com. When you lost your contacts just go to tools on mobile and sync ovi.com

My computer is connected to the Internet via mobile boardband and it works fine.  Now, I'm using Ovi Suite 2, and when I check for any new software through Ovi Suite, it insists on connecting to the Internet via my phone or it just says there's no Internet connection available.  Why can't Ovi Suite use my computer's connection?  This problem existed with Ovi Suite 1 too.

    Hi there,
altough I'm not from Australia, I'm facing same problem with NOS connection while checking for updates.

    Connection: USB
    Nokia 5230
    Firmware: 10.0.071.259.02
Whenever I try to check if there're any updates for both NOS and 5230 firmware, Ovi Suite gives me an error saying my connection is broken or the firewall is blocking ports.
I'm 100% sure BitDefender allows NOS to connect to the internet, the machine was restarted after the installation.
    Any solution for this?
