Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290 and Messages

I have been using Ovi Suite for a while now, I notice 4 days ago. When I would sync it was faster then normal. I didn't think about it. But today, I noticed that the last date for message in Ovi Suite is 04/04, while today is the 9th, I can browse the phone inbox with in Ovi, and see my message 20+, however when I say sync, it quickly runs and says no message to transfer.
Things I have done thus far.
-> Power Cycle Phone
-> Power Cycle Computer
-> Used the Repair Sync A few times.
-> Removed Message from Sync Setup and Saved and Restarted Program the reselected the Messages again.
-> New Software for Phone just released too, updated to that. No Change.
All other fucntions in Ovi are working as far as I can tell. Just Messages has stopped.
Anyone have any ideas.

I did the re-install now running 3.1.0.74 Beta, on first sync 386 messages are found to be new.
Now all the message that I could view on the phone are in the inbox in Ovi.
Thanks.

    Moderator, please take notice!
They lack of functionality between Thunderbird contacts and calendar and Ovi Suite is a problem many of us have been monitoring for over 2 years. It looks like still nothing has been done about it. I, for one, cannot believe that so many users have been ignored for so long. To date I still refuse to use Ovi Suite until such time as I can see evidence that will sync contacts and calendar to and from Thunderbird. In addition I see no logical reason why the Ovi Suite developers took a huge step backwards and removed another piece of PC Suite that was already working well, for several years. I am speaking of file sync. Not media files, but others, such as Office type files. The phone can open and read documents, spreadsheets, PDF's and the like. So why can we no longer sync those files? I have been doing this for 6 years, but there are others who have used it for longer than myself. It is a crucially important feature for those of us who need to carry info with us. Since PC Suite can still do the sync, I cannot, in good conscience install Ovi SUite, which I still feel is not yet ready for primetime.
Nokia developers, stop playing games. Some of us have work to do.

Ovi Suite update from 3.0.0.290 fail.png ‏41 KB

    Hi,
There appears to be several different kind of update cases mixed in this thread now.
For those who received a notification about Ovi Suite update for 3.0.0.290 please don't do anything! There was new component available for Device Software Updating functionality of Ovi Suite, which has been now withdrawn from the distribution. In some environments it caused  issues that have been identified also in this discussion thread. Please note that currently there are no Ovi Suite updates available and Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290 is the latest sw version.
In case you are experiencing other issues related e,g. to device software updating then please create a separate thread so it can be followed and the participants of this forum can help and contribute.

  • Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290 only showing some playlists co...

    Hi,
i have created around 20 playists in ovi for my music and copied them 1 by 1 to the device.
I have just connected my phone to add some more music and in the section where it refreshes and displays what music is on the device, its now only showing 6 of those playlists however all of the music is still on the phone.
Does anyone have any idea whats happening here? i want to see whats on the device in OVI.
    Thanks.

I am having exactly the same problem. Everything syncs except Calendar events.
    Nokia C7 fully updated
    Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290
    Outlook 2003 (Spanish version)
Windows Vista fully patched  (Spanish version)
When I select the sync options Ovi Suite correctly identifies the folder in Outlook.
    Notes in Outlook sync fine.
I fixed one other previous problem by making sure I only had one profile under "control panel/mail. So that is not the issue.
    Any help?

  • Ovi Suite won't sync old N82 messages to my new X6

Using the latest Ovi suite (updated through updates, not sure v number though)
I received an X6 today. Seems pretty nice so far.
However, had some issues transferring text messages between phones - it broke the dates on the MMS and left me with a bit of a messy inbox on my X6.
So, I synced messages using Ovi suite from my old N82, and they all copied onto my PC fine.
However, if I now connect my X6 to my PC and hit sync messages, it just says 'done', and doesn't copy my messages from my PC to my X6.
Is there any way to do this? I'd like to keep all my old texts from my N82 and transfer them to my X6.

    Hey,
    As per your following words
However, had some issues transferring text messages between phones - it broke the dates on the MMS and left me with a bit of a messy inbox on my X6.
So, I synced messages using Ovi suite from my old N82, and they all copied onto my PC fine.
Are you talking about MMS also or only SMS?  I'm bit confused, if its related to MMS too, NOS does not support MMS.
If its related to text messages, then same has to be checkd

  • Ovi Suite (Codecs) / k-lite etc and Windows Media ...

I was using K-Lite codec pack, Cyberlink Power DVD 10 and Divx Plus player in my PC (Win XP SP3 and WMP 11) until I get a nokia phone I was able to play mp4 videos (regular and also 1080p and 720p) in Windows media player and all other players. (Haali Splitter inside k-lite codec pack was preferred filter.)

So by my choice H.264 codec preference of me were Cyberlink 10 or Divx H.264...
And I installed latest ovi suite 2.2.1.23 and it installed own filters by default. (inside k-lite codec tweak tool it says unknown third party filter ......)
It's selecting Nokia & Emuzed codecs for playing videos. standard definition mp4's and also smaller ones working without problems in windows media player (and media player classic) but not 720p and 1080p videos (they're playing only audio- and before that giving an error) (When I selected internal filters in media player classic 720p and 1080p videos are working in mpc)

I tried to back my own splitter selections (haali) I used codec tweak tool. And Everything back to normal. But this time when I add a video (only mp4- avi's work fine) to nokia ovi suite's (or nokia photos) library, the video not appearing in library. (it's actually in database but not showing) Until uninstalling-reinstalling ovi suite and deleting C:\Documents and Settings\"MYUSERNAME"\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia I cannot add any mp4 video to library.
so I have just two option
1- Use external media players only (like mpc, gom player, power DVD) and not opening mp4's in WMP
2- Not using all features of nokia ovi suite... (not being able to send mp4/avc videos to directly from ovi suite & also from phone to PC ovi suite library)

After installing OviSuite3.x on Windows7 it broke all mp4 files. OviSuite installed several Emuzed* filters. Most mp4 files no longer worked, video stuttering and/or audio missing.
Setting a merit "Do not Use" for all Emuzed* filters did not help, players still was given EmuzedMP4 source filter by DirectShow pipeline.
Then sort of disabling it by adding ":" character to the start of CLSID id in a registry did not help. This is a trick what InstalledCodec.exe does when choosing "Disable filter" but was not working for me.
Finally made it work, uninstall one codec and now all mp4 files are handled by HaaliSplitter and ffdshow codecs.
    - open  dos prompt as an administrator user
    - cd "c:\program files(x86)\common files\nokia\codecs"
    - regsvr32.exe /u emzmp4source.dll
You can open a dos prompt in admin mode
    - click winmenu icon in a desktop bottom left corner
    - type in the command to run "cmd"
    - press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER and application is run with an admin privileges
Nokia please do not mess with MP4 codecs, thank you.

  • Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290 - Music library problems...

    Hello,
Just bought a Nokia E5, looks to be a sweet phone so far...
Only, Ovi Suite is just annoying. Very slow on communicating with the phone (USB connection) and some big problems.
Impossible to delete music from the library ! How is that ?? And also the library takes ages to add a new folder.
Also, not seeing the playlist i've made on the phone ? Either on mass storage connection, in the playlist folder of the phone, nothing... But should be on a other threat.
Hope you can solve the library problem because it's quite annoying.
Thanks in advance for any answers.

    @satari
    Yeah, alright already!
We get that without you plastering this message over EVERY single thread dealing with issues of that truly useless and pathetic piece of  software called Ovi-Suite.
Especially since the new version DOES NOT SOLVE ANY OF THE ISSUES AT HAND IN THE THREADS YOU MASS PASTED INTO!
Ovi-Suite 3.x still no longer syncs music, which IMHO is a basic function. Who on earth wants to be forced to manually update the phone playlists and songs whenever songs are added on the PC? That is beyond backwards.
    Hello? It's 2011, not 1991.
Ovi Suite 3.x still randomly refuses to add songs to the library on the PC (e.g. it skips several songs from an album folder, yet they play fine when added to the phone manually outside Ovi-Suite), an issue that can only be corrected by deleting the entire library on the PC and recreating it. A "repair library" function is notoriously absent.
I'd like a so called Smartphone to make tasks easier and more comfortable instead of harder.
Newer Nokia handsets may be slightly less bad, but the N97 with Ovi-Suite is still the smartphone/desktop combo from hell.
The fruit phone/ITunes combo is sadly restricted by the greed and desire to control everything of Apple, but at least the products work reliably and consistently for the most part. The same is true for 'Droid devices.
Ever seen a black lemon? They turn black when they rot. My N97 is black. 'nuff said

  • Ovi Suite Synch Problem - Outlook Calendar and Not...

No problem with Synch ie contacts etc. However Ovi refuses to synch my calendar and notes. The message is to reinstall Outlook of Fix Synch - I have done both but nothing to it, Ovi will not Synch Calendar and Notes... What can I do ? Obviously synching my calendar is paramount if the phone is to be of any use to me. I have an E7.

Are you using latest nokia ovisuite i.e 3.1.0.91?

  • Ovi Suite 3.1.0.84 and slow/failed software search

With Ovi Suite 3.1.0.84 the checking for new software for Ovi Suite and telephone software is SO slow? Especially looking for update for phone (C6-01) is taking ages or I get a timeout with some message of my firewall or proxy settings or something like that. But that is all fine and I don't use no proxy nor did I set a proxy setting somewhere.

Don't know if I should be in this discussion as my version is 3.1.1.80, newer, but even so, it does not resolve an issue mentioned here: slowness. I started BACKING UP yesterday evening; process it's moving along, has not hung, but this morning, 12 HOURS LATER, it is only at 56% (using Vista Business, which is Windows 7-like not Vista-consumer like). This promises to be a 24-HOUR BACKUP, hey, I need my phone! What good is this? And if I ever need to RESTORE from the backup copy, do I want to wait 24 HOURS for that?!
Can someone please tell me if it's slow the first time? After this first pain, will it be fast?

  • OVI Suite 2.0: memory consumption and disk activit...

    Hi all,
the new Ovi suite is consuming ridiculous amounts of memory:
    - nokiamserver.exe - 150 MB
    - Nokiaovisuite - 240 MB
    Come on!
in addition to this the nokiamserver.exe keeps the hard drive extremely busy in every boot for more than 20 minutes!
I have this latest OVI suite now installed now in my BUSINESS laptop and I just don't need or want mediaservers running in it. Just want the internet connectivity and occasional photo/message sync.
Is there a way to disable it and start it I ever happen to need it?
    JH
    Running on XP SP2

    Absolutely the same here.
It seems so avid of resources because it is in "Watchfiles" mode (absolutely consuming if you, like me, use OVI on a virtual machines whose folders (almost ever on VM) are located on a net share.
I didn't try it on a normal machine, but IMO if OVI have to handle large pictures/music folders its background watchfiles process do a hard job to monitor changes in real time.
So I launched regedit and removed (or you can leave it putting "REM" before the path) the registry key
    REM C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\MPlatform\NokiaMServer /watchfiles startup
    that you can find here:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

My Nokia N97 don't want to work with me anymore
Iv'e got a backup of all my contacts on my computer, but how do i export them from Ovi Suite? The easiest way would be if there is some third-party software that will export all my contacts to a csv-file or similar, but i haven't found anything? When the phone was working i was stupid enough to not sync my contacts with Outlook

Download and install Noki from here http://www.nokisoft.com/

  • OVI Suite 2.2.0.245 and Thunderbird 3.1 sync

    Hi to all,
I have been using OVI Suite 2.2.0.241 with TB 3 previously and with some ups and downs the sync process was acceptable.
Unfortunately the world goes on, so I upgraded to Thunderbird 3.1 and the Sync extension wasn't working anymore. I decided to take the risk and force the extension's compatibility and it started working again.
Bad luck again, Nokia came out with OVI Suite 2.2.0.245, so I decided to uninstall the previous version to install the latest... To discover that Thunderbird is not recognized anymore by OVI Suite!
I have tried several times to reinstall or repair OVI, but with no result: the only client listed in the options is Outlook Express, which isn't even installed on my PC!!
Anyone experiencing the same problem or -even better- anyone got around this problem?
BTW, this doesn't seem to affect those who upgraded both TB and OVI without uninstalling.
    Cheers,
    Alex

    Hi,
Looks like we've found a workaround in that discussion.
    Good luck

  • Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290 Can not play Video taken with ...

It is quite amazing that software by Nokia can not replay Video taken with phone by Nokia.
VLC player plays the video OK so the video (MP4) looks to be all right.
All thet Ovi says is that the video can not play. Format may not be supported .

I have the same problem, in that I can't get my video's recorded on the phone to play.  If I try to double-click and play within Ovi Suite it crashes Ovi Suite, if I open Windows Media Player and try and run it then WMP crashes too (is Ovi Suite using WMO under the skin?) and the best I can get is when I try it with QuickTime I get sound from it but just  black screen for the video.
So yes, I suspect it's a problem on my PC but can anyone give ideas on how to fix it?
