Ovi suite connection to E72

Hi,
I just got my E72, installed Ovi suite and then plugged in the USB cable. It keep saying  "pls wait while USB drivers are installing..", but it says same for more than 20 mins. I tried disconnecting, connecting cable again, same outcome. Selected PC suite from phone also. I thought it already installed drivers when installing Ovi suite.
pls help !

Hi, please try this with Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284. You can use Nokia Ovi Suite's own software updates (Tools -> Check for updates) or via direct download and install from www.ovi.com/suite

  • N97 - Ovi Suite Connection Problem - Windows 7

    Hi all.
I have N97, firmware version 20.0.019 (t mobile - **bleep** with the old firmware updates.... )
I am running windoze 7 with all updates etc.
I have the latest version of nokia Ovi Suite and the latest version of Nokia PC Suite.
I am reluctantly trying to get used to using ovi suite instead of PC ever since Nokia's update page seemed to suggest I should be using OVi suite with this phone.
Anyway bluetooth connection is working fine. I can do all syncs with everything on bluetooth.
USB connection is not, when the phone is connected, and I select PC Suite on the phone, the phone and PC then get stuck in a sort of loop where the PC is "installing drivers" and the phone keeps asking me to select PC Suite mode.  Occasionally I get an error message saying I am stuck in file transfer mode.
I have also tried this after going into settings and setting USB connection mode to PC SUITE only, with Don't Ask selected.
This is profoundly frustrating and also renders the ability to update phone software totally useless because you cannot update via bluetooth, only USB connection.
I am getting mighty peeved off with Nokia's ability to get firmware, and software products right.  Come on guys, hire some decent developers, and/or start responding to feedback from customers like me.  (I'd happily beta test any software, I've done it before for an online game......!!!!)
I am considering selling my N97 online, and just buying an unlocked HTC HD2 after over a decade of using Nokia phones.
    help!
    R

Amazing that so many have responded to this post, and not one has come close to the right answer... I've had the same problem for a while, and at first I thought it was just my old XP notebook - which had more than one problem - or the general poor performance we've come to expect from the N97. I couldn't even sync on Ovi. But with my new Windows 7 notebook in hand, I was all excited to finally update the firmware on my phone - which had been stuck on v12 for a while. Imagine my surprise when I still had the same problems with my brand-new notebook. I started browsing around for more help than this thread, and found that Nokia has released a software update program seperate from Ovi Suite. Just google "Nokia Software Updater for Windows 7" or whatever version of windows you have, download & install. You might need to kill three "Nokia..." processes in the Task Manager to let it run, because it seems Ovi suite has these processes starting up with Windows. (Amazing when they program applications to do that without your permission!) Why on earth would Ovi Suite need to run three processes on my machine anyway, if I haven't even started up the program after reboot? But still, this program wouldn't connect to my N97 via USB. I clicked on the icon in the system tray showing the drivers installing after I plugged it in, and found the culprit: The installation of the driver for "MTP USB Device" failed. Googled that, and found that there are a lot of people having problems with that, from cameras to cellphones to mp3 players. Tried a few suggestions I found, and ended up having to uninstall all my (brand new?) USB controllers (under "Device Manager") and deactivate Windows Media Player from "Windows Features", reboot, then re-activate Windows Media Player - something to do with MTP Devices getting their drivers from Windows Media Player. Not sure if it was one or both of these fixes, but then Nokia Software Updater connected to my N97 with no problem. Installed the software update, and now all is good again. Incidentally, after the software update was complete, a whole bunch of different drivers were installed when I connected the USB... the main one changed from "Nokia ... Parent ..." something to "Nokia... Flashing..." something - and Ovi Suite connects fine now as well! Good luck to everyone who had this problem - it's been fun.

  • N8 ovi suite connection not working and unable to ...

Hi guys, i bought a brand new n8 today with vodafone australia, and being naturally very excited about it i tried to download some apps from the ovi store. i was prompted to download the ovi store installer, which i accepted, but when it came to installing it onto my phone i was displayed"file corrupted". i went on to ovi suite to try and install it from my pc (vista) and i was unable to update my support software, and then my phone was unable to connect to the ovi suite.
Can someone please help me! this is literally a brand new phone and i have performed no resets, soft or hard, on it.
    Thanks, fletcher

The splitter  coax F-connector may have been installed with a small connector wrench.  Just use a small 11mm or 7/16 in. wrench, or pliers and loosen the connector about 1/2 turn.  Then you can disconnect it with your fingers.  Make sure the cable itself is straight and not putting pressure on the connector.

  • N8+OVI Suite connection problem

    Hello all.
I have a problem since I update ovi suite to version 3.0.0.029. I can't connect the phone to ovi. It is always tell me "connect your device to your computer with usb". It's done but ovi don't detect the device . I have try with ovi suite, pc suite, software updater and noone detect the phone.
I read a lot of people with the same problem but noone could fixed it. I try to uninstall all nokia programs and reinstall but the same. I try with other computer and same.
OS in both computers Windows 7
    Ovi suite 3.0.0.029
    ¿Any idea here?
    Thanks.
PD: sorry for my english. I'm from spain and i tried to dont use a translator

I have the same problem with my N8. I've tried everything.
Ovi Suite does not recognise my phone, but the computer does (so I can sync with Media Player etc.).
I was hoping that PR 1.1. would fix the problem, but it did not.
Everything worked fine with the old Ovi Suite.
So, this is simply a problem of the NEW Ovi Suite, not the problem of computer or cable or anything like that.
    Here are the specs:
    Windows Vista
    Cable Nokia CA-179
Other specs from Ovi Suite system information:
    Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290
    Ovi Player 2.1.10304.0
    Nokia Photos 1.6.387.0
    PC Connectivity Solution 10.50.2.0
    Connectivity Cable Driver -ohjain 7.1.36.0
Nokia Ovi Suite Software Updater 2010.44.0.60888
    Maps Service API 4.0.24.1
    Nokia mPlatform 2.7.44
Waiting for a solution from anyone...and no, I will not upgrade to Windows 7 or anything like that. I will upgrade to another non-Symbian phone, however, if this can't be fixed.

Sorry, but I'm not sure what the actual issue is. Do you mean that you're not able to sign into Ovi with Ovi Suite or not able to sync or maybe something else? Maybe you could attach a screenshot about the actual error message?

    Where the H... is Nokia!!!
Yesterday I was very close to smash the phone against the wall. I applied all the solutions from the different posts and still not solved. (Ovi-suite related)
Obviously this phone was not ready to go to market. !!!!
    My list of additional issues:
overheating: happened yesterday: despite no application being opened, the phone started heating. The battery was done in 15 min.
Black screen or phone freeze: somehow the resources management is poor. The lag goes sometime over 10 sec between actions resulting by a black screen or the phone is blocked.
Twice a the nokia repair center in Dubai, but still no solution.
Put my old E65 in repair and going back to basic.
    Disapointed I am.

  • N96 & PC Suite & Ovi Suite connectivity - USB

    Hi
Forgive me if this has already been covered.  I've searched the forums and have not found a definitive answer.
    Win XP Pro SP 3
Micro USB cable supplied with N96, standard USB cable for N95
    N96 Type RM-247
    Software version 20.050
    N95 (01.01) RM-159
    V 31.0.017
    PC Suite 7.1.26.1
    Ovi suite
I have an N95 and two N96's.  Both N96's have been updated to the above software using PC Suite.  After the update, neither N96 is recognised by PC suite.  N95 is happily recognised.  I've installed Ovi in desperation and it opens knowing that I have an N95 but will not connect to either N95 or N96
The N96's connect as unknown USB devices.  In Device Manager I have 5 USB 2.0 devices with Yellow question marks.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled PC suite 5x.  I have also uninstalled the cable drivers and PC Connectivity.
Also, connecting the N96 to the USB cable will sometimes result in BSOD - a driver conflict.  Has anyone any ideas how I can get the N96's recognised?  The software update seems to have caused the problem.
    Thanks

I uninstalled again last night, used CC Cleaner to clear all traces, checked DM - only the N95 is listed and then reinstalled PC S 7.  The instant I connected an N96 to the USB cable, I got a BSOD and a driver error notification.  Went to bed after that......

  • Ovi suite connection to OVI-Store

was so happy when I saw that OVI suite is showing features from my home store (Germany) even I in China at the moment.
But the positive surprise had an sudden end when I tried to select and install something.
It is sending the link to my phone in China....yes it really does.... but when I want to install it then the old problem pops up. It says......this app is not available in your country.
I brought up this point in other forums already, but NOKIA does not have any plan to change this.
I can only say OVI-store is useless for me and many many other foreigners here, if they cannot access the store of the country where they belong to.
None of them wants to install all the Chinese scrap on their phones.
This also means all travelers and business people cannot access the ovi-store, when they are not in their home country. Nokia seems to be too rich, they obviously don't need this business.
My wife already switched to Android, she can access her home store. As I am a blind long term NOKIA addicted user I suffer and write this post hoping that NOKIA will change one day.

Hi, please try this with Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284. You can use Nokia Ovi Suite's own software updates (Tools -> Check for updates) or via direct download and install from www.ovi.com/suite

    Salutations,
I'm trying to backup my mums nokia X6 but for 2 years I'm getting this error over and over again. My last successfull backup was made in 2K10, since than it's **bleep**ed up. I'm afraid to do phone restore, coz I have no backup, nor I'm afraid to do system update.
I tried everything, forums, MTP trick, reinstalling, register, pc suite cleaning software, and nothing works. Please advise,

Hi Lexicanum, Welcome to the Nokia Forums!
    Please check the following:
Your phone is not in the ''USB Connection On Standby'' mode. Newer Nokia phones enter a power save mode if a USB cable is connected, but the connection has not been used during the last few minutes.
Your PC is not in the power saver mode.
Your USB cable is not damaged.
    You could also try:
Disconnect the USB cable from your phone.
Press your phone’s power button for about 10 seconds.
    Reconnect the USB cable.
Wait for the backup to continue.
If your problem persists I suggest taking it to the Nokia Care point as it seems you have tried many various other troubleshoots.
Let me know how you get along.

  • Why is Nokia Phone to Ovi suite connection such a ...

I  have a Nokia E63 and if I had as much trouble with my computer's network connection as I have with a plain and simple old USB connecttion between the E63 and the OviSuite (PCSuite is the same)  and my windows were not double glazed, I would have chucked the lot in to the garden.
If the phone is attached to the computer when the computer is Cold booted, then no problems, it appears and conversation between Phone and computer is okay.
If the computer is already running, and I then connect the phone, the Nokia connectionapp   insists there is no phone connected and will not find or make a connection.
The phone reports it is connected by PCSuite and USB, unfortunately the Nokia software on the PC doesn't think it exists.
Probably because in Control Panel-System-Hardware tab the Nokia items now have the Yellow exclaimation mark on them.
Properties on them shows "This Device cannot start".
Even manually forcing a Start doesn't solve anything.
If I go to  Control Panel-Add or Remove Programs, find the  Nokia connectivity cable driver and force a repair, then upon connecting the phone I get a note of  a new device and some stuff is reinstalled.
USB Mass storage is not a problem, regardless of when the phone is connected.
I've had a look around the net for advice or solutions, but the general concensus seems to be, Nokia connectivity is the Brown waste stuff.
FWIW. I've uninstalled/reinstalled a number of times, I've changed the USB port used by the cable on the computer, it is connected directly to the computers USB (Rear) port, NOT through a Hub.
I'm totally lost now, so hoping someone here might have a useful thought or two.
Have contacted Nokia support but just got the usual crib sheet answers.
    Dave
Forgot to mention, it is the latest version of the Nokia Connectivity cable driver.
    D.

Summary of  where I'm at now.
I've done the total uninstall... Excise Nokia from the Registry, remove stuff from My profile Application data, and the file from Sys32\Drivers etc, three times.
    Thereafter done the reinstall.
I'm still in the same boat as I was before, the problem resolutely refuses to be fixed.
So Phone connected at Boot works, thereafter force a Nokia cable driver repair.
On XP that's Control Panel- Add or Remove Programs, scroll to Nokia Connectivity cable driver, Hilight it and click 'Change' up will come the Repair or uninstall window.
(Make sure phone is disconnected for this operation).
On Win 7  it's Control Panel- Programs and Features.
Nokia support, via crib sheet readers only seems interested in two things.
    1) Are you using a Nokia brand cable?
    2) We'd like you to go through the total uninstall process...
No ...king chance, after doing it three times already.
So I've worked on this with three total uninstalls.
    Three different cables.
A number of emails and a couple of phone calls from Nokia support, nada.
This problem is only evident on one machine running XP-SP3.
On the Win 7 Laptop it works perfectly okay everytime.
Interestingly, this problem is on  the newest computer I have, only just two years old.
On another old computer I dug out of a cupboard and set up again, also running XP-SP3 the connectivity works perfectly okay.
There's just some niggle between the USB on this particular computer and the cable driver.
I get the impression, not only from this forum, but hints from the support guy that this problem has been around for a while, and my concerns have been escalated to a higher support level.
Luckily I only really need to Sync my data once a week, so I can manage with the Force cable driver repair measure, but if I needed to sync every day, I would be really p*ss*d off about it.
It has been suggested... Why don't I just use the Win 7 Laptop to backup and sync the phone... Think about it for one second... As both the phone and the Laptop are out and about in the 'Wild' world together, it not going to be a very secure backup arrangement.

  • Ovi Suite + 5230 USB not working

    Preamble:
I recently connected my Nokia 5230 mobile phone to my PC via USB connection and loaded up Ovi Suite (2.2.1.23). Everything worked lovely. But alas! Both an Ovi suite update was available, as well as a update for the phone itself! So I downloaded the latest version of Ovi Suite (3.0.0.284).
Unfortunately, now Ovi Suite does not detect when I select "PC Suite" USB mode (selected on the phone screen). This essentially makes Ovi Suite useless.
So I followed some advice on other discussion pages (more on that later) and reinstalled the Ovi Suite. The problem persisted.
Here are some pictures to help you understand my problem:
    http://i.imgur.com/5IknF.jpg
The computer is able detect the phone is connected via USB. I can even browse the contents of the phone memory and memory card. Upon detecting the connected phone, and me pressing 'PC Suite' on the phone screen, it will show this:
    http://i.imgur.com/lV0rs.jpg
I cannot progress past this screen. The Ovi Suite simply does not recognise that I've selected that option on the phone.
    Defense:
I know what your thinking. "Just another USB thread". Well, I did in fact read plenty of threads on this forum before posting, and have spent the last few hours uninstalling and reinstalling Ovi Suite and drivers in various ways (as suggested in those threads), with no success.
The following is a list of forum threads which I have read and tried all the solutions found in each, and I have copied the solutions (which appear to have worked for other people), for your convenience:
    /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/Ovi-Suite-PC-Suite-USB-Connection-Problem/td-p/682828
Solutions which did not work for me:
Could you please follow these steps and check?
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and PC suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
    1. Uninstall all nokia related applications like Ovisuite, pc suite, connectivity cable driver,pc connectivity solutions, nokia software updater etc. from ur PC.
    2. Restart your PC
    3. Now download and install the recent ovisuite from http://www.ovi.com/suite
    4. After installation, disconnect/disable your internet connection (this will make sure that the PC use the drivers which comes with ovisuite and  prevent the PC from downloading any new drivers from internet) and then connect your mobile and wait for drivers and support software installation.
    5. After drivers installation you can connect your mobile to ovisuite from ovisuite screen.

    Hi GannonC,
Uninstall the following Programs, if any, from Control Panel -> Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs.
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    Nokia Ovi Suite
    PC Connectivity Solution
Later download and install the latest OVi Suite from the following location.
    http://www.ovi.com/suite
After OVi Suite installation, restart your PC, disconnect your internet from PC and connect your mobile to the PC. This is to prevent the PC searching for a new drivers from internet. OVi suite has all the required drivers for all the nokia phones available in market.
Once all the required drivers are installed automatically, you try connecting the mobile by selecting 'Connect your device' from the bottom left on the OVi suite screen. You should be able to connect your device now.
After connecting you can go ahead and update your maps/ download new country maps.
NOTE: before updating your maps/ download new country maps, you should have used your maps in you mobile atleast once.
Hope this will resolve your issue.
You can connect back your internet anytime after the drivers installation.

After re-starting the computer, I also followed this portion of a suggestion from another post (don't know if it made a difference or not):
"connected the device, waited till all the drivers were loaded.
    Then launched Ovi suite"
     (From /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/E52-Sync-Error-8393f010-838c03ee/m-p/740481)
Ovi Suite then recognized my device and the sync appears to have gone smoothly.  I hope it works for you too!  It's ridiculous that it causes so many problems though--I've wasted many hours on something that should have installed correctly the first time.

    Zship's revelations:
So this is not really a problem for me. I have the working, older (2.2.1.23) version of Ovi Suite installed on my netbook, and sure enough, it works fine, I just tried it. I wont be updating Ovi Suite on it though. I also could probably just download the update via 3.5G using just the phone itself, but the problem remains that a simple software update has caused a critical connectivity problem between your software and hardware. Given that many Nokia customers would have less technical know-how than say, myself or anyone else on this forum, this problem is a quite likely a huge inconvenience to them, they probably wouldn't visit these discussions and spend 5 hours reinstalling software like I just did, and they surely would be thinking twice before purchasing another Nokia device in the future.
tl;dr - Nokia recommended update breaks connectivity between software and device, various attempts to fix seemingly simple problem don't work.
    Solved!

SAME PROBLEM. And none of the many suggested solutions has worked for me yet. I want to thank all on this thread (and many others) for their help. I've learned a lot but I haven't gotten to the bottom of it. I think maybe Nokia needs to ... uh ... bloody well BOTHER TO FIX THIS ISSUE themselves, maybe. Like, cuz they're PAID FOR IT and I'M NOT. Harrumph.
I run Windows XP, and was on Media Player 11, but have rolled back to 9 and 10. I have a Nokia E 72. I have all the latest Nokia cable-drivers, PC Suite, OVI Suite, Connectivity software, etc.. The symptoms are as follows: when I plug in the phone by USB cable, the laptop won't recognize it. It says "USB device faulty" or "failed to load properly" and refuses to get the hardware into its brain. The Device Manager shows only a "Unknown Device" which I cannot install drivers onto. Taking the extra media-card out of the phone doesn't make any difference -- nothing I've done will make the computer recognize the main (built-in) card in the phone. I can't browse to it via any sort of populate / repopulate disk drive, or any other method of connecting it.
As I understand it, this is some conflict with the phone and the new concept of MTP. Media Transfer Protocol confuses the computer, causing it to kind-of think that the phone is kind-of a media player, when in fact it's a whole lot more. So, the "parent" doesn't get loaded, then the rest of the phone doesn't get loaded, then it kind-of tries to load some MTP but fails, etc.. If I could browse to the phone through a non-Nokia connection I'd be happy to do so in order to implement any of a number of the suggestions above. But I can't get the computer to recognize the phone when the phone is plugged in by USB, regardless of all the solutions above.
The problem began a few days ago. It just up and wouldn't recognize the phone. I hadn't installed any updates that I knew of on either item, but it's possible that my memory is faulty and a newer version of this or that snuck in there and screwed it all up. I have tried a serious roll-back to a Restore Point about six weeks old, but that didn't solve the problem. This suggests to me that the problem is phone-resident, since the rollback was to a computer-based Restore Point and I don't have phone rollback capability.
This seriously hampers me. PC Suite, OVI, and some future version of Nokia Suite, will all be useless to me unless Nokia accomplishes the stunning act of supporting their software. I won't hold my breath. Just in general, you'd think that plug-and-play of a phone into your computer would be a lot simpler. Just take the cord -- stick it in the phone; stick it in the computer -- and shazam, you're plugged in. But NOOOOOO we're on NOOOOOOKIA ... Now I know why Microsoft wanted to buy them so badly. They knew they'd all get along and have the same assumptions about software -- that it doesn't really matter whether it works reliably on a user's computer at his home, as long as it works in theory on some programmer's ideal personal computer in Seattle once in a rare while. Nokia? Meet Microsoft. Microsoft? You and Nokia will get along juuuust fiiiine ...

  • Update from 3.04 to 3.06 by Ovi Suite on n X6-00

When I open Ovi Suite, connect my X6 and go to Maps, I can check which maps are available and which maps are installed.
However, there seems to be no method to check the version numbers. Thus, I risk to reinstall all my 3.04 maps(which I think are installed on my phone) again.
    How to check version numbers?

Probably missing some thing here but OVI Suite would tell you whether newer map data than 00.01.25.114 available for v3.04 as also delivers 00.02.42.122 for devices using v3.06

  • Ovi Suite doesn't detect Phone

    Well I have N97
Used to have problem 'USB phone parent' driver couldnt be instaled - Just done PC suite cleaner and fixed that problem.
Now its installed driver wise, so 'My computer' sees N97, and phone says its in PC suite mode BUT
Ovi suite doesn't detect it. I tried 'add new device' it still didnt find it.
I can browse it fine through my computer.
And before you say - yes phone is in PC suite mode.
I also just did hard reset of phone

Please follow the steps provided below and check.
    Uninstall the following from add/remove
    - Nokia Ovi Suite
    - Nokia Connecting cable driver
    - PC Connectivity Solution
Then go to device manager ( Right Click My Computer-Manage) then ports- Uninstall all the ports which is by name nokia (
there might be multiple entries, but remove them), but please dont remove any other from there which might lead to
    malfunction.
    - go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache and remove all the sub folders inside that.
For windows vista and windows 7 it will be C:/Program Data/OviInstallerCache
    - Restart Computer
    - Download and install ovi suite
    - Restart computer
    - Then connnect the device and wait till all the drivers are downloaded.
    - Then launch Ovi Suite connect the device.
This has solved the issue in many cases.
    Hopefully this works.
