OVI Suite Crashes on Calendar or Task Selection

I have a 2330 Classic. I am running it with OVI Suite on Windows XP. My Outlook version is 2003. Bluetooth connection WIDCOMM version 5.5.0.3200
I am unable to even select sync with Outlook under
Tools|Options|Calendar & Tasks or
Tools|Options|Notes.
It doesn't matter what connections are made, OVI Suite Crashes immediately if I touch either of those selections above:-
When Outlook is running
When Outlook is NOT Running
When Signed in to OVI.com
When NOT Signed in to OVI.com
When the Phone is connected
When the Phone is NOT connected
When Bluetooth is ON
When Bluetooth is OFF
Surely this must be something wrong with the OVI SUITE Software ??? I'm sure it worked under some previous version of OVI Suite, I wish I hadn't updated it.
is there some access to old versions of OVI Suite that might work?
Error txt file is attached
Someone help please?  The Contact Us on the Nokia website just goes round and round in circles, I am not impressed. There appears to be many, many complaints re: Outlook Sync?

  • Ovi Suite Crash during Calendar Sync

    Hi,
I previously used the latest PCSuite and Sync (7.1.40.1) to sync my calendar and contacts over Bluetooth.
I installed Ovi Suite 2.0.35. Contacts sync OK but Calendar sync crashes Ovi Suite. The complete environment details is:

Same problem here... My installation does not even sync contacts, it just crashes after approximately 30-60 seconds of trying to sync. I'm using a Bluetooth connection, haven't really tried with a cable because I move alot with my phone and need it to  be hassle free (which Ovi Suite apparently is not).
I need the sync to work, because my everyday work depends on it, and it is totally unacceptable that the synchronisation does not work. I'm really irritated about this, why does Nokia have to roll out new program versions if the sync works in older version just fine? I've only quickly looked through the Ovi Suite, and it just seems to have a new user interface, and a broken sync functionality - what was the point of updating it anyway?
BTW: I did not find any option to "Automatically synchronise every 15 minutes when phone is connected" in the new Ovi Suite. The old PC Suite did have a drop down menu for selecting either "Off", "15 minutes", "30 minutes", etc. for the auto-sync interval. What's up with this? Or is the option just hidden somewhere within the new "cool" user interface?

My phone is a E51, and here are some characteristics that I picked out from browsing around it's menus. I don't know how to get more detailed information from the phone, maybe there's some kind of "#1*" key sequence that needs to be used?

It seems that I'm gonna have to try uninstalling Nokia Ovi Suite and Nokia Ovi Suite Software Updater next from "Add/Remove Programs" and reinstalling PC Suite. Just have to check that it is still available from Nokia site... and then save the PC Suite installation file somewhere safe, and worship it as a holy relic to the end of times, and never-ever-ever update anything again after getting PC Suite and synchronisation to work once again...

  • Ovi Suite/N97 Issues with recurring tasks

    Hi
I have finally managed to get my N97 to work with Ovi Suite (v 2.0.1.35) but am having some very annoying issues when it comes to syncing calendar & tasks (personally I wish I could just sync the calendar and not the tasks...).
I have several recurring tasks in Outlook. They feature in my task list on Outlook as just one task with the recurring symbol next to them.  Whenever I sync my N97 for some reason, on both the N97 and Outlook the recurring tasks disappear  and are replaced by a years worth of the recurring task.  This means that both my N97 & Outlook task lists are suddenly overflowing and impossible to manage.
Has anyone else experienced this & is there a way round this, or a way to simply sync calendar and not tasks??
    Thanks
    Nick

Just tried editing my previous post and forum wouldn't let me.
Anyhow, I just discovered that Ovi suite didn't mark my tasks as complete - it deleted them.  It also deleted quite a large chunk of my completed tasks as well.  I have absolutely no idea why it would have done this, but to say it's very frustrating is a massive understatement, I'm now having to rebuild my task list from memory.
Never had any of these issues with PC Suite....
P.S - In my Ovi suite options I have conflict resolution set to Outlook not Device...

  • Ovi Suite crashed and my 6210 won't turn on

    Hello everybody,
I have a nokia 6210 navigator (rm-367) and Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1 on Windows 7. Yesterday I connected my phone via USB, and I intended to update my phone since it had been slow lately. There were no updates available, so I chose to reinstall the latest version. The software was downloaded, and a few seconds after the installation started, Ovi Suite crashed, delivering a not responding blah blah message. My phone doesn't work anymore since the process was not complete. When I turn it on all I see is a black screen and 3-4 seconds later phone turns off. It's not about the battery. I've tried hard reset (by pressing on/off + 3+ * + green keys together). Nothing would help. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Try opening the case and see if the power button contact is properly aligned.  Once the case is open, inspect for bulging or leaking capacitors.
    You can also run
    Disk Utility
       1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
       2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
       3. Click the First Aid tab.
       4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
       5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
       6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then reboot and repair perm issions.

I'm afraid I have the same problem, repeatedly. I got an e-mail from Nokia suggesting that I un-install and re-install Ovi, including hidden files. And then I managed to re-snychronize with Outlook, but once, and once only. And now Ovi crashes when I try to synch with my Nokia, AND when I try to sync Ovi with Outlook. It's infuriating to see that this problem is not being properly addressed by Nokia. But encouraging to realize that I'm not alone, not just an idiot who can't work it out for myself!

  • Ovi Suite Crashes When Connecting Phone: How to re...

Ovi locks up a minute or two after connecting the phone, always.
Cannot do a backup.  Cannot do Outlook synchronization.
Initially it worked for a while.
How do you reset synchronization to start over?
What Ovi Suite files do you delete on the phone to do a synchronization reset?
To use maps properly, you need Ovi Suite.
    Configuration Details:
    XP SP3, 1GB of memory
    Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Model: 5800d-1b RM-428
    Ovi Suite Now Uninstalled: V2.2.0.241
PC Connectivity Solution Now Uninstalled: 10.24.0.0
With Firmware: V40.2.005 was able to download maps.
After updating to firmware to:  V50.2.005 phone connection crashes began.
    Phone itself is working ok.
    My solution:
Remove Ovi Suite & all traces of Nokia on PC.
    Install PC Suite.
    Now sync'ing works fine.
    Notes:
    * All other devices work fine on same USB connection.

  • OVI Suite crashed during contacts syncing

When it is syncing contacts, it crashed without any error messages.
    What is going on??
    I'm using Windows 7 64-bit
    OVI Suite Version: 3.0.0.282
    Phone Model: 5800XM
It also failed in syncing photos, it said [Photo not synced]
There was a problem with syncing your Photos. Try restarting your device and computer. If the problem persists, check if there is a new version of Nokia OVI Suite available. If not, try updating your device software.
I have done all of the above and still cant sync.

I too am having a crash when contacts are syncing using Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284 (latest) connecting to an E55.
Edit: After retrying repeatedly, contacts have synced without crashing (without changing the software or the data to be synced).

  • Ovi Suite + Outlook 2010 Calendar/Tasks Nightmares...

As of the latest Ovi update (v. 3.1.1.78), my persistent troubles with syncing my phone (e71x) with my Outlook 2010 Calendar & Tasks have gone from bad to intolerable. Previously, only occasional events, such as anniversaries, would be incorrectly changed by Ovi - always one day before they should be.
But now, on every other sync, my ENTIRE task list is moved to the prior respective due dates. I don't know what to do, but I'm sick of this **bleep**. This has been going on for almost a year to some degree, and that's totally unacceptable. It's not even worth syncing anymore - it takes longer to correct all the stuff it screws up than it does to just update manually.
I'm thisclose to going Michael-Bolton-in-Office-Space w/ a baseball bat on this POS phone.
    Help???

    Hi maf_afonso,
We have edited your post. It is not wise to include personal information like full name, mobile/telephone number, IMEI, e-mail address, etc. here in the discussion board. Please be advised and have a nice day ahead!
