Ovi Suite doesn't have an application installer?

Hello :-)
when i used the PC Suite, i could double click a sis or jar file on my pc and if my phone was connected via bluetooth, the installer was automatically transfered to the phone and the installation started. since i installed the new ovi suite this behaviour is missing?! is this feature coming later?

If you mean by the new Ovi Suite i.e Ovi Suite 2 then yes there is no app installer, I installed it a couple of hours ago, it's sleek and nice but then I realized that it didn't have the app installer so I downgraded to my previous Ovi. It's a beta version so may be they'll include it later, I have no idea, but without the app installer Ovi Suite = Epic Fail

Ovi Suite doesn't detect Phone

Well I have N97
Used to have problem 'USB phone parent' driver couldnt be instaled - Just done PC suite cleaner and fixed that problem.
Now its installed driver wise, so 'My computer' sees N97, and phone says its in PC suite mode BUT
Ovi suite doesn't detect it. I tried 'add new device' it still didnt find it.
I can browse it fine through my computer.
And before you say - yes phone is in PC suite mode.
I also just did hard reset of phone

Please follow the steps provided below and check.
Uninstall the following from add/remove
- Nokia Ovi Suite
- Nokia Connecting cable driver
- PC Connectivity Solution
Then go to device manager ( Right Click My Computer-Manage) then ports- Uninstall all the ports which is by name nokia (
there might be multiple entries, but remove them), but please dont remove any other from there which might lead to
malfunction.
- go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache and remove all the sub folders inside that.
For windows vista and windows 7 it will be C:/Program Data/OviInstallerCache
- Restart Computer
- Download and install ovi suite
- Restart computer
- Then connnect the device and wait till all the drivers are downloaded.
- Then launch Ovi Suite connect the device.
This has solved the issue in many cases.

OVI Suite Doesn't Sync Car Phone and Pager Fields

Hi,
I'm very very disappointed with this new suite, but I had to start using it as Nokia PC Suite doesn't work with x64 version of Windows.
Now, I'm facing this annoying issue. Fields such as "Car Phone" or Pager never get synchronized to my E90 device. Even when I'm creating a new entry on the device it doesn't sync to my OVI or Outlook!!
It looks like if the OVI suite doesn't recognized these fields at all!!!!!!
Any suggestions?????

This is OVI and Nokia style of ignorance. I have sent them several request last months, no reply at all.
They don't batter about this issue at all. I have the same problem on my N8 and from what I can see, Nokia has forgotten to implement Carphone in Nokia Suite, which I expect to be an easy task for them to solve.
Where is a responsible Nokia manager?

Ovi suite doesn't recognize device

Hello, new problem:
I start ovi suite as always.
I connect my cellphone N97 with usb, as always.
New: ovi suitedont recognice my decive!!
Reinstall Ovi..connect..nothing.
Connectivity N97: usb modus.
I realy dont know what to do.
Does anybody recognise the problem and know the solution for it?

I donot have any problem with my N97.
I am not sure this will solve your problem but you can try this?
1. Uninstall Nokia Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove
2. Delete the files from here:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Nokia\Ovi Suite
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache
3. Restart your PC
4. Download and install latest Nokia ovi Suite http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite
5. Restart PC again and try to use NOS
if this does not help then check whether you are using latest phone software or not. you can upgrade your phone software by following bellow mentioned steps...
**** before going for upgrade donot forget to take backup else you might loose your phone data****
1. Download Nokia pc suite and use NSU or Nokia ovisuite (For Windows User only)
2. Try over the Air update (MAC/Windows User)
If your mobile data rates allow, try doing an over the air update. Support varies by phone, variant and software
Go to tools >Utilities> Device manager (location may vary by device)
There should be an updates tab
This functionality may not be available in your device. Contact your service provider for more information
To view or update the current software version of your device or to check the date of a possible previous update, select Menu> Tools> Utilities> Device mngr
To check whether software updates are available select Options> Check for Updates
First off BACK UP YOUR DEVICE! make sure you have a back up of the memory card and also the device memory and make sure that the battery of your device has enough power or connect the chager before starting update. To start the update select access point. The device starts to download the device data.
When the data is downloaded the update description is displayed. Select Accept to accept the download of the update package or cancel to cancel the download. IT may take several minutes and you can use your device during the download but not during installation time.
Server Profile Settings
Menu> tools> utilities> Device Manager
to add a new server profile seleat Options> New server profile.
Contact your service provider for correct settings
Server name- Enter a name for the configuration server
Server Id- Enter the unique ID to identify the configuaration server
Server Password- Enter a password to identify your device to server
Access point- Select the access point to connect to the server
Host Address- Enter the url address of server
Port-Enter the port number of the server
User name & password- Enter your username and password for the server
Allow configuration- To allow receiving configuration settings from this server select yes
Auto Accept all requests-To have your device ask for your confirmation before accepting configuration from this server. Select NO
Network Authentication- Select if network authentication is used. Enter your Network username and Network password to identify your device to the server.

Ovi Suite doesn't see music on SD card + Won't use...

I seem to have to problems with Ovi Suite - Or is it just me?
(1) Ovi Suite can't see any of my music which is on my 32 gig SD Memory Card (the obvious place for it). My N8 doesn't have any trouble seeing it!
(2) Ovi Suite won't let me nominate my music library location, because it isn't on the C drive.
Effectively, I can't use Ovi Suite for my music for these 2 reasons - Currently I'm using drag & drop to load music onto the N8

Things have moved on today.
I have a long conversation with Canon and finally got the images off my camera by connecting it directly to my iMac and using Canon's EOS Utility to download the images. The EOS Utility saw both yesterdays images and the ones taken last Saturday.
I have to say it took several attempts to finally get all the images off the card and a similar number of attempts to get Lightroom to import them - but it has been achieved.
Interestingly the chap at Canon said that they (Canon) believe there is a problem with Lightroom's Library (not quite sure how I go about proving that). Anyway I have tried formatting the offending SD Card and none of the images are deleted which leads me to suspect, as you do that it might be a faulty SD card.
All the relevent serial numbers, invoice and photographs have been sent to Sandisk and I await their reply. Thankfully I purchased the card through Amazon UK who are the official retailer for Sandisk, so hopefully I should get my card replaced IF it is found to be faulty.

Ovi Suite doesn't recognize my N97's PC Suite sett...

Hi all. Sorry if this is a double post. I tried searching, but didn't find anything.
I've recently tried to transfer music from my PC to my Nokia N97. I did this once before using Ovi Suite with no problems, but now I'm having some serious trouble.
When I plug my phone into a USB port, it asks me the USB mode I want to use, and I select PC Suite, however it then tells me to reconnect my device using PC Suite mode, which I already have done! It doesn't matter how many times I do it, Ovi Suite is adament that my phone is connected in file transfer mode. I've downloaded all the updates, but it hasn't helped.
I can still connect with Bluetooth, but its slow, and if I connect by dragging and dropping (going to My Computer then to my device) then the music doesn't actually show up in my phone.
Can anybody give me some advice on what to do?

If you set Ovi Suite to full screen, does your computer not remember that setting? It should make Ovi Suite fit to screen.

OVI SUITE Doesn't update my contacts

Hi, I have a E71 and a new C7.
I use OVI to keep contacts up to date between the two phones.
Now I experienced trouble when I want to sync my contacts from my E71 if I previously used OVI to sync contacts for my C7.
I proceeded as follows: Start OVI,connect C7, sync contacts. exit OVI. than: Start OVI connect E71 start sync. contacts.
I got this error message: 80043bd4
I tried as suggested to disconnect, switch off computer and also to repair sync.
NO WAY still impossible to sync.
I also backed-up my E71 and tried again. no way.
Any help ???

Nokia's unreliable Ovi suite lies to me as well to other posters here. Ovi release v.~284 wastes my time by repeatedly claiming it has synced my Contacts data & Calendar items, when in fact it has failed to do so.
Upgrading and re-installing various Ovi versions have brought no improvement. My handset is a 6220 Classic, my laptop runs Outlook 2007 on Windows 7, and connects via USB cable. So please, Nokia, no excuses about any rare combination of equipment or legacy applications!
When backed up, my 1500-plus contacts & 1000-plus calendar entries in Outlook contribute to a 105 MB file. That should be no problem, though, given that a 2GB memory card is installed in the 6220's expansion slot. And I keep very few photo or music files (less than 10) on the 6220.
On similar boards as this, I notice several posters complaining from as early as 2009 about Ovi's frequent shortcomings with syncing. A shame, then, that two years of Ovi clearly haven't been enough for Nokia to sort out its problems. Its Nokia predecessor PC Suite was intuitive & reliable; Ovi is neither of these things.
I hope a Nokia technican reading this board can a) remedy Ovi's failure here and b) apologise for its waste of users' time.  The wider, clever choice for Nokia would be to dump unreliable Ovi, and put its development & support budget back into PC Suite.

Ovi Suite 3.1.0.84 Application Error when scrollin...

Start Ovi Suite, login to Ovi and then start scrolling through the recommended apps. Then I get the application error attached. This has happened twice in the 1-2 hours.
PC is an HP ProBook 6450b with 2GB of RAM. The only other applications running were Windows Explorer, Firefox and one open PDF document.

Just a note to say this is also happening with Ovi Suite 3.1.0.91 and I filled out a new form with a new set of NOSlogs attached. Similar to before before except perhaps the problem is less common than with 3.1.0.91.

Hi guys
I am having certain issues with my Nokia N8 device, which was once bricked and the motherboard was changed by the service center. The product type is RM-596 and the product code is 059B288. Though I managed to install Symbian Anna without any troubles as soon as the update was made available, wondering with one particular annoyance!
I cannot see the "reinstall" option for my device after an update check using OVI Suite, when both my E7, E72 devices provide me the "reinstall" option. Could be this because of the Product Code? If yes, then how I could do a fresh firmware update on my N8?

Not clear from your post whether Symbian Anna upgrade was via FOTA or Ovi Suite, as you usually need to have installed an update via this method (Ovi Suite) previously for the re-install existing software option to be revealed.

A while ago, finally I could sync music to my Nokia N900 with Nokia Ovi Suite. But now, he doesn't sync anymore.
Any ideas how to sync music on my mobile now?

i dont understand why people are still trying to "sync" music on this device.
it does not require any conversion and plays almost all the different formats that music is in.
just connect in mass storage mode and click-n-drag the items to your audo/sounds folder on your n900.
90+% of all the music is in mp3 anyway.

5800XM / Ovi Suite - Doesn't find anything on devi...

Hi, the most recent version of the Ovi suite can't find anything on my device, no contacts, no messages, no music, nothing, it just shows the loading sign, and after some time it just says nothing found. Im on windows 7 x64
Only ovi player works with the music in mediatransfer mode. Any ideas?

There are still issues with OVI and W7 (64bit). Use Nokia PCSuite. Install as admin and in XP compatibility mode.

Ovi suite doesn't show contact details set to stan...

Hi,
I am using right now the latest for me available version of Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 but the problem started to appear 2 or 3 updates before already.
I am using Ovi suite on a Vista 32bit german machine.
My mobile is a E71 v400.21.013 connected normally via Bluetooth (but cable shows same problem)
I started to define some contact details (e.g. mobile (home) as default for phoning and sms) and now ovi suite syncs and shows everything but theses defaults. On the mobile the details are still there (luckily).
The messages part of the ovi suite shows for those entries just the numbers and not the contact names anymore.
Can someone tell me how to fix it or at least how to undefine these standards?

Ovi Suite doesn't work properly

Well, I recently installed the Ovi Suite and it hasn't been useful at all. As soon as it boots up, it gives me an error message like: "It wasn't possible to read the tracks". And when I try to import music from the pc, the same message appears and it won't import my music. This is extremely annoying, 'cause now I can't transfer my songs to the phone.. Anyone knows how to solve this?

OVI SUITE - DOESN'T LIKE MY COMPUTERS RESOLUTION S...

Last update I downloaded for Ovi Suite has prevented me from using it. Basically home screen is too large for my monitor display. If I go to control panel and alter my screen resolution then re adjust it back to the highest my monitor can handle Ovi Suite works ok - for that computer session. However, after power down - then up problem returns. Ovi Suite home page is too tall for my monitor meaning many functions are off screen so I cant click on them. Anyone got any suggestions cause I'm baffled by this one, never had anything like it before!

Automator doesn't have 'Launch Application' action

I'm trying to use the application Automator > Service to create a keyboard shortcut to launch an application. Under 'Library' should be an action called 'Launch Application', however this isn't there.
Do I need to download actions from somewhere? I've tried searching for it on my computer (no luck) and searching online for help regarding this missing action but all I find are guides on what I'm trying to ultimately do.
Any ideas why this action is missing?

Well for anyone with this same problem, I figured out how to find it plus several other actions that didn't show up initially too.
I went to ~/Library/Automator and dragged all the files here to the desktop. Then, I just launched Automator again and the actions were all there.
Just goes to show that sometimes it's better to search more and figure out how to do things yourself because "help" forums like this one and its users are utterly useless.
