Ovi Suite in E63

I have Nokia E63. Recently I have updated recently software of this phone. Now when I click on Ovi Suite, then it ask for updation. But it takes more time and altimately there is increase in cost of GPRS. How to download this updated Ovi suite on computer and then install in the phone

You probably have some form of software conflict on your PC, for example another program that is running in the background is preventing it from working.
Your best option is to clean up your PC if you have lots of things running, disable anything that is running in the background and try again. If that fails remove all Nokia software, including registry entries, then reinstall and try again. If you need any help with PC maintenance you can find plenty of forums by searching google.
If all else fails try the update on another computer.

  • How to install ovi suite to a drive other than C:?...

how to install ovi suite to a drive other than c:??? my c: drive is almost full with other partitions perfectly free to install it, how do i do that? can i use previous versions of ovi suite to use with my e63? at this point, i'm unable to use ovi suite at all, because there's no room to install it on my c: drive.
allllllllso there's one more thing, when i originally had tried installing ovi suite on my computer i had more than 1gb free. after installing it i on'ly had 500mb free. i had only intended for it to use a very small amount of space, and since i also use my c: drive for virtual memory i quickly uninstalled it, looking for an option i'd maybe skipped over while installing it the first time. no luck. anyways, when i looked in the add/remove programs control panel the installed size of ovi suite was only 40-50mb. even after uninstalling ovi suite the extra memory space that seemed to all of a sudden taken up by the installation stayed used.
when looking at the file sizes of everything on my hard drive, (including system files and paging file) there is still a descreprency between the amount of memory used and the size of all files total on the drive. at this point im quite disgusted and disapointed in ovi suite as i'm mostly unable to use it to connect my phone to my computer and i'm also having problems with the CA101 cable as well. i guess i'll have to go check for another cable.
nokia!!! wake up and fix yo **bleep**!!!!
anyone have any solutions for the main problem? (installing to a drive other than c? is there support for this option in any of the new beta versions? can that be included in the newest betas? i'm suuuuuure i'm not the only one begging for this option!!!

Hi ostrenga4, sorry to hear about your experiences.
When installing Nokia Ovi Suite to PC, Windows makes "system restoration points", which are available to restore operating system to previous condition, if something goes wrong, for example in driver installation.
You can change install location of Nokia Ovi Suite with following:
    - Download Nokia Ovi Suite install package from Nokia Ovi Suite pages
    - Start Windows Command prompt
    - From Command prompt, navigate to folder containing Nokia Ovi Suite install package, which you downloaded
    - Start Nokia Ovi Suite install package with command line "Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe /TARGET="D:\TestDir\Test"
    - This results, that Nokia Ovi Suite installer creates folder D:\TestDir\Test (if that doesn't exist) and installs Nokia Ovi Suite there.
    - Unfortunately, Windows Installer still keeps installer cache files and system restoration points in C: drive (or whatever your system drive is)
As you can see, this is possible, but it is very much recommend to have enough space for installing software into system drive.
    Cheers, Samuli

  • What are third party alternatives to Ovi Suite

I really like my Nokia E63 Smartphone, and Nokia PC Suite is usable, I'll say no more than that.
Unfortunately its replacement Nokia Ovi Suite, really is a dire application, appearing to have a UI designed by a child, and the coding done by someone committed to an asylum.
Harsh words, indeedy so, but this Ovi Suite really does bring out the worst in a person when to attempt to use it.
Enough has already been written about its short comings, so I won't waste time re-visiting...
My quest is for a suitable third part application that will do the business without the problems.
Searching around I've found two possibles, OxyCube which unfortunately just will not install its required bit on my phone, and MobilEdit which works reasonably well, but has a very dodgy .CSV import capability.
So my question here to the knowledgeable is:
Are there any other third party replacements for the Nokia offering?
    Thanks
    Ax

+1 from me on both looking for a third party app, and loathing the Nokia-as-the-centre-of-the-universe approach to coding.  Nokia 5800.
Had a torrid time with the OVI 3 update which simply doesn't do the sync'ing it promises to do, so rolled back to OVI 2 which gets stuck on insisting that I reinstall (a perfectly functioning) MS Outlook.
Since my Nokia phone is now next to useless through not giving me what I paid for, I'll also start looking at other brands.  Well done Nokia!

I'm having the same problem. I'm running a Nokia E63 on Windows 7, Nokia Ovi Suite software version 3.1.0.91, and the firmware version (device software version). on my phone is 200.21.012.
This being very old firmware, I want to upgrade to the required 500.21.009. However, whenever I try to upgrade, I get the error attached (Error code: 12008). Can someone help me as I've reinstalled Ovi Suite to the latest version and still no joy.

  • Problems with OVI Suite, in under 24 hours...

I recently upgraded my Nokia software to OVI 2, or whatever its called. I will admit, it does look a bit better than the previous version, seems a bit nicer to use, and I like the fact that music, syncing and updating, is all now done from the same application.
Its about time I didn't have to have 3 separate applications installed for my one cellphone.
    But I am having problems.
    1. I use my phone to connect to the web, and within the first few minutes I was notified that OVI 2 has stopped working, and needs to close etc. I mean, I hardly used the app, and it crashes just from connecting to the web!?
    2. I did a software update for my E63, and halfway through the update, OVI threw up an error and said the device was disconnected. I was nowhere near the USB cable. Thankfully, the software update must have completed, because the phone restarted, and when I checked my software version it was up to 2.00.21.
    3.  So, I unplugged the phone, plugged it back in to restore my contacts, etc. which worked fine, except I don't have any contacts. Why did the calender entries restore, but not the contacts? Luckily, I have all my numbers saved on my SIM anyways, so I just copied them from there.
Did I do something wrong during the backup/restore?
    4.  As I write this now, I thought I'd plug my phone in, and just check if I could do the restore again, but the phone no longer comes up with that selection menu allowing me to select PC Suite. I decided to restart my phone.
It has now frozen on the screen where you enter your PIN.
     *sigh*

    Hi,
OK, I have not had any problems since the incident, rebooted my computer and my cellphone, and now both are working. Maybe there was just something wrong in the update process. Will let you guys know if I have any more problems.

  • Ovi Suite will not recognize E72

    Dear All,
I have recently installed ovi suite. My computer keeps asking me to install the driver for the "bluetooth peripheral" device (and it can't find the program to install). But that is not the real problem. problem is when i connect my phone to the pc it doesn't recognize it, i've gone through all the help files and done everything, checked the connection was right, disconnected, rebooted both devices and reconnected, and made sure it was on use as Ovi Suite when the option comes in the beginning.
Furthermore, although my computer sees the phone as a Bluetooth device and i can browse and copy files to and fro the phone, the pc suite doesn't recognize the phone via the bluetooth route either.again, i've gone through all the help suggestions.
What could possibly be the problem?

OVI SUITE DISCUSSION SCREENSHOT.jpg ‏123 KB

I also encountered this issue recently..
The methods mentioned above may probably work, but what finally got mine to work (PC Suite and Ovi Suite not recognizing connection type, even when WinXP already recognizes the device and can use the Nokia Phone Browser to browse the cellphone's folders) was the following:
I've posted it in more detail here:
    /t5/Connectivity/Can-t-connect-N97-to-PC-via-USB-cable/m-p/716873#M31885
Seems to me that there might be some bug with the Nokia Connecitivity Cable Driver and/or PC Connecitivity Solution which caused the cellphones to not be recognized by PC Suite/Ovi Suite sometimes (it worked the other day, but suddenly doesn't recognize today).
Re-posting the steps I tried and got it to work:
    Summary:
    0) (the phone/USB cable must not be connected to the PC during this time):
    1) Uninstall Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    2) Uninstall PC Connectivity Solution
    3) (reboot if necessary)
    4) Install Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver (Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver.MSI)
    5) Install PC Connectivity Solution (PCCS.MSI)
    6) Now connect your cellphone; wait for the cellphone to be installed properly in Device Manager (may take a while since it installs several devices like "Nokia E72 USB Phone Parent, Nokia E72 USB OBEX, Nokia E72 USB modem, etc). It installed around 8 devices on the E72. Similar for E63.
    7) Try running Nokia PC Suite: Connect a phone. It should be able to recognize the "USB cable type of connection" and identify the phone's model.
    8) Try running Ovi Suite, which should also identify the USB connection type and the cellphone model.
If you've previously installed Nokia PC Suite (or maybe Ovi Suite?), there seem to be a backup copy of the required installer files residing in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Installations\{<CLSID-a long string of numbers>}\Packages\CCD\Setup\Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver.MSI and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Installations\{<CLSID-a long string of numbers>}\Packages\PCCS\Setup\PCCS.MSI .
Hoping this might work for you too.

  • Nokia Ovi Suite has lost connection with your devi...

5 months has passed and many hours on the phone to Nokia. The phone has been completely reset /reboot by Nokia time and time again and still the phone gets this message when trying to update software..."Nokia Ovi Suite has lost connection with your device"....We were optimistic that the software upgrade would solve the other problems we are having with all the Nokia phones at work. They are all E52's

Having the same issue currently with an E72 software version is 054.005.266.02 and Ovi Suite 3.1.1.80
Actually I had connection lost all the time with all previous versions of Ovi Suite too... it has never been reliable.
Using original Nokia USB cable, connected securely. Tried different PCs, different USB ports, same issue.
Just now I'm trying software update and it looses connection during the backup process all the time... very disappointing. Screenshot attached if anybody is interested.

  • E5: Ovi Suite has lost connection with your device...

I am trying to update the software on my E5 using OVI suite but I keep getting an error during the install phase (after backup). The following error and instructions are displayed in the OVI suite window but makes no difference when I follow these instructions (just end up back with the same error).
"Nokia Ovi Suite has lost connection with your device. Follow these steps to help reconnect your device:
    1. Remove USB cable from your device.
    2. Restart the device (turn off and on again).
    3. Re-insert the USB cable.
    4. Click 'Ok' below to continue updating."
Current E5 software version is 042.007.
I am trying to update to E5 software v. 043.115
    Any ideas?

Yep having the same issue. Just got a replacement handset due to the random restarting issue, soon after setting up the new handset I get a message on phone saying software update is available. Both OVI suite and Nokia software updater say version 43.115 is available (about 200mb in size), I currently have the same version as you 42.007. It claims to do a lot of improvements to the handset. The update downloads fine but when it comes to installing I keep getting the same issue. Phone simply will not restart automatically and the update restarts then fails at the same point over and over. Had the same problem with my previous handset.
I spoke with my network provider to see if it was an issue with the handset needing firmware specific to them but they said no it is an issue with the firmware itself and has been happening to everyone since its release!!! They said I should not download it until Nokia has resolved the issues with it. But how do I know when that will happen as I cannot find anything put out by Nokia stating there is an issue or anywhere on web forums saying there is actually a problem.

  • Installing OVI Suit on Windows Vista Enterprise di...

    Hy,
I have a great problem with the OVI suit installation on a Windows Vista Enterprise 32Bit.
Before i install ovi suit, there was the "Nokia PC Suit" on the PC this software is uninstalled now, and also i run the “Nokia_PC_Suite_Cleaner_7_1_1.exe“.
Also i have browsed the Support Board and Google/Bing for solutions,
But nothing of these entries can help me with this installation.
OVI Suit version is actually downloaded yesterday (3.0.0.290).
The installation stops at 1/3 of the normal run.
I have tested the installation on 3 machines like the problem PC, without a problem.
So i have no idea what i can do to run the installation to the end.
Now I have started a new try to install the OVI Suit, and deleted before all Registry-Keys.
By the way, is this really normal that the installation needs more than 120MB RAM?
So it’s 16:30 at your site next business day is Monday, i hope you have all details and can help me.
    Greats from Austria

    Troubleshooting so far:
    ===============================================================
Uninstall Ovi and re-download from Nokia web. Reinstalled Ovi Suite but that didn't work.
I then uninstalled all Ovi and all Nokia related software, cleaned Registry and reinstall Ovi Suite: Failed to fix.
Then I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1 which worked just fine with 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006). I had no problems making backups or to synchronize.

    How to solve this problem?

    LOL
I just tried Nokia Ovi Suite again to copy the full error report that it sends to Microsoft.... lo and behold it started to work again?????

This I did before I tried

Then I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1 which worked just fine with 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006). I had no problems making backups or to synchronize with Nokia PC Suite.
Made a complete backup on my phone.
Installed Nokia Software Updater and I reinstall the latest FW 51.0.006 to my phone.
Then I organized my content for a few minutes.
Shut down Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater.
    Started up Nokia Ovi Suite.
Connected my phone and clicked on PC-Suite on the options.
    It now works again????
Something happened when I installed PC Suite that enabled me to use my Nokia 5800 with Ovi Suite again.
