Ovi Suite installation fails: something's gone wro...

Ovi suite installation fails: "Something's gone wrong. Nokia Ovi Suite Installation requires that PC Connectivity Solution 7.0.0.0 or later is installed before you can continue." I tried all possible options; removing all related items, drivers, registry entries. Nothing helps. No decent logging. Where can I find this PC Connectivity Solution? No decent help. Complete lack of information. After failure, lots of items are still installed and remain. No decent rollback. Windows installer cleanup is no longer available from Microsoft due to issues. So I'm stuck with an invalid piece of installed software. Just tried the third time I'm giving up. Spent the whole day on this. Has this been tested properly anyway on Windows 7 32 bits? The message in itself "something's gone wrong" does not really give me any hope on this. Please provide a solution.

  • Ovi Suite Installer Hangs on Windows XP SP3

    Hi,
I'm getting really frustrated trying to Install the Ovi Suite Installer 2.2.0.241 on my Thinkpad T400. I still have about 8G free, but the installer hangs at about 50%. I have tried to install numerous times, with and without restarting the machine., but get the same unsuccessful results. For now I have to do with the Nokia PC Suite which was successfully installed, but I really look forward to using the OVI.
I just purchased a Nokia N97 mini after having spent 5 years on Windows Mobile due to hardward and software issues. I hope I did not make another mistake by moving back to Symbian! Even when I cancel the installation, it still hangs. Help please.
    Thanks.

    HI WM2Symbian
I am not sure whether this will solve your problem but if have not followed this can try it once.
    1. Uninstall Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove
    2. Delete the files from here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Nokia\Ovi Suite
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache

  • Ovi Suite update fails

Hi, Ovi Suite started to prompt me to update to the latest version recently.
The installation runs, but fails with the error:
"Installer: The older version of Ovi Desktop Sync Engine cannot be removed. Contact your rechnical support group."
I've since uninstall all the Nokia/Ovi apps via Windows Add/Remove and tried installing again but get the same error.
After uninstalling everything from Add/Remove, All entries in the Start Menu are removed, but I can see in Program Files there is still a "Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite\NokiaOviSuite.exe" which I can run. The Help-->About info shows me this version info:
    PC Connectivity Solution 9.45.0.0
    Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.23.0
    Maps Service API 3.0.38.0
    Nokia mPlatform 2.6.40
    Ovi Desktop Sync Engine 1.1.0.77
    Operating system:
Microsoft Windows XP 32-bit Edition, Service Pack 3
    Language: English
    Detected internet browsers:
    - Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13
    - Mozilla Firefox 3.6 (Default browser)
    Detected Bluetooth stacks:
    - Microsoft (Version: 5.1.2600, Build: 5512)
    - Broadcomm (Version: 5.1.0, Build: 3000)
When I try to install the new version, I can see new versions of "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solution" are listed in Windows Add/Remove Programs list.
Any suggestions on how to cleanly remove the existing version so i can install the newest version will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Ravi
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi, I have heard this problem before. Can you try following instructions:
You can try to run repair and then uninstall Ovi Suite. If it
uninstalls then installing new Ovi Suite should also be possible.
If this doesn't help you have to download Windows Installer CleanUp
    Utility. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
    Direct link: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983...
First clean Ovi Desktop Sync Engine with this utility and then try to
install Ovi Suite again. You may need to clean some other msi entries
    too. Hopefully this helps.
    Cheers, Samuli

  • Ovi Suite Installation Error (Error Code 2)

    Hi I was using old OVI suite(ver: 2.x.x.x.);
yesterday I downloaded the latest version of ovi suite (3.0.0.290).
But when I m trying to install it exits with saying error code 2 what it is ????
I already removed my old ovi suite ...
I want some help on this

    Hello,
Could you check that the 3.0.0.290 installation file has not been corrupted during the download? This can be done by right clicking the Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller_ALL.exe. Then from the Properties -> Digital Sigantures (tab) you should be able to see Nokia signature. Select that and then push the Details button and you should see a new dialog and there the text "This digital signature is OK." if the file is valid. If you can get find the signature, the file has got corrupted and you should try to download the latest version again from here.

  • Nokia Ovi Suite installation

How can I install the Nokia Ovi Suite to another hard drive than the standard "C" drive?

Hi, if you want to install Nokia Ovi Suite to for example D: drive, to directory "D:\Program files", you could start installation application from command line following way:
    Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller_all.exe /TARGET="D:\Program files\NokiaOviSuite"
This would create a new folder "NokiaOviSuite" under D:\Program files\ and install Nokia Ovi Suite there.

  • Ovi Suite installation/uninstallation kills Putty ...

Hi! I noticed during the beta testing that Nokia Ovi Suite kills all Putty processes which are running while installing or uninstalling Ovi Suite. The problem still exists in the latest Ovi Suite versions. The problem can easily be reproduced by downloading Putty (from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html), opening a SSH connection to any server, leaving the connection open and then installing/uninstalling Ovi Suite. Can someone else reproduce this too and why does Ovi Suite kill these processes?

    - reboot
    -re install OVI SUITE.
Please please cna you make an upgrade install work.

Try to check if you are using the latest OVI suite. You might be using the CD that goes with the phone upon buying it. Try to install the latest software found in this link:

  • Nokia Suite Installation failed!!!!

Hi I am trying to install Nokia suite!! But as i start it ! I get an error " Problem With the installation file".Plz help me what is this error?? I am already using Nokia pc suite and having windows xp sp3 and using x6.

    Hi samurai307,
I can see this is your first post so let me welcome you the Nokia discussion forums.
There are currently three workarounds available towards the solution of this problem:
    1.      Download/update the Windows Media Player 11
    2.      The installation problem can be because some  .dll  files have been missing in Windows XP. Download Update for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 from
    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?amp;amp;displaylang=en&id=2292
    3.      Please go here: http://www.verisign.com/support/verisign-intermediate-ca/code-signing-intermediate/index.html to update your Intermediate CA certificates.
You will see 2 boxes with garbled text - one primary and one secondary. Please copy and paste the text each into a text file using a text editor such as notepad. Then save those files with a .cer extension, and then import those certificates into Windows by right clicking on those .cer files and selecting Install Certificate from the menu. Then follow all the defaults.
    Kindly follow the URL too.
    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27771
If the above doesn't help have a look at this thread:

  • Nokia Suite : Something's gone wrong Internal Erro...

Today I started Ovi suite as usual and it shows me the new update is available and you must need to install it because it is very important update. So I updated it and it automatically began to install.after few minutes, occured an error. "something's gone wrong. Internal error 2381. C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite\Help\whdata\whfts.js . I don't know what should I do . I decide to uninstall and reinstall it. But unfortunatly I cannot uninstall old Ovi suite.when I try to uninstall it ,it shows the same error.I tried to delete that file.but I cannot install it. so then  I supposed to change the installation path of this program and used that methord.
You can change install location of Nokia Ovi Suite with following:
    - Download Nokia Ovi Suite install package from Nokia Ovi Suite pages
    - Start Windows Command prompt
    - From Command prompt, navigate to folder containing Nokia Ovi Suite install package, which you downloaded
    - Start Nokia Ovi Suite install package with command line "Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe /TARGET="D:\TestDir\Test"
    - This results, that Nokia Ovi Suite installer creates folder D:\TestDir\Test (if that doesn't exist) and installs Nokia Ovi Suite there.
But still I'm getting same error.please any suggestion for this problem.
I attached couple of screenshots of this error.

    Hi,
It seems that for some reason SYSTEM or Administrators group on you computer doesn't have file permissions to that file. Installation can't delete/modify that file and therefore installation fails.
Browse to C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite\Help\whdata\ with Windows Explorer and right click whfts.js. Check that both Administator and SYSTEM have full access to it. You can try deleting C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite\Help\ folder to see that permissions are correct and help files can be deleted.
More info about adding file permission: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727008.aspx
It's also possible to add full permission to a folder. Then files under that folder should inherit those permissions.
