OVI Suite knocking my computer out

Detected Bluetooth stacks:
- Microsoft (Version: 6.0.6000, Build: 16386)
Problems:
First of all it's not possible to have OVI Suite in my auto-start since all other programs stom responding after being loaded.
When removing OVI Suite I can start my computer and do whatever I want. But when I start OVI Suite manually I can do everything until it tries to log in into the server. From that point on OVI Suite does not respond anymore. Further, all other programs are crashed as well, i.e. firefox does not load new data, other programs can not be started anymore, etc... Does anyone have any idea what the cause might be,
Thanks a lot in advance,
Nussi

I've got the same problems with Ovi Suite (the actual download) and my Vista-64-PC. Whith Ovi Suite installed and the system freshly started , Ovi tells me that it cannot connect to the internet (although the pc is already connected to the net by lan) and hangs. And even without starting OVI, just after having it installed, some other programs which normally cause no trouble (e.g. Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice ...)  cannot be used any more. If I try to start them, nothing seems to happen, but the Task Manager shows that they are running as process but not as application.
Nokia PC Suite on the other side causes no problems. Seems to be a big bug of Ovi Suite. Anyone from Nokia reading this support ciscussion?

Now I have uninstalled Ovi suite and can't connect my phone anymore as a  usb mass storage drive. I also found out that while installing Ovi suite, it wasn't the only nokia program that got installed to my hard drive.

  • Ovi Suite Pictures - Thumbnails Grayed Out

All of a sudden, Ovi Suite only shows my photos as "grayed out" icons rather than the thumbnail.
Not sure what has happened. Anyone see this? Better yet, anyone have a fix?
    Thanks!
    DZ

    HAHAHAH LOL
I used the Installation repair (started from Windows 7 uninstall programs in the control panels,) and now the Album Art is gone as well as the thumbnails for my photos.
I am currently downloading the full installer. I'll uninstall and reinstall and see what happens.
p.s. - This problem is with Ovi 2.1.1.1, Windows 7 home (licensed), N97

  • Transfer Ovi Suite to new computer

I have a new laptop coming and just wondered what is the best way to transfer Ovi Suite to it?  I can download a fresh copy but this would lose the history.
Is there any way that this can be done please?
Forgot to say that my telephone is Nokia N8/Symbian.

How about installing a fresh copy onto your laptop then on your old machine go to > C:\Users\Your name\AppData\Local  and copy the folders Nokia & NokiaAccount and paste them to the same location on your laptop?
    Ray.

  • Problems with OVI Suite (N79)

    Hi,
today I upgraded to the "new" Ovi Suite and since than everythings seems to be much slower
     - Synchonisation with outlook (I couldn't find where to set which sets of outlook-adresses to use )
     -  Download software (took20 min.)
     - connect with the mobile (6 min.)
     - Internet connection when using the mobile as modem (too slow)
Am I the only one with these problems or is it a general thing?
Anyhow: Dear NOKA people, please make this thing faster or provide a way to return to the old PC suite

Hi, I've been using Ovi suite since it came out, without a problem. Try removing everything Nokia or Ovi from computer from add/remove programmes then download and run Nolia PC Cleaner and try re-installing Ovi suite, there may be some conflict if you qver wrote the previous programme.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck

  • How to install ovi suite to a drive other than C:?...

how to install ovi suite to a drive other than c:??? my c: drive is almost full with other partitions perfectly free to install it, how do i do that? can i use previous versions of ovi suite to use with my e63? at this point, i'm unable to use ovi suite at all, because there's no room to install it on my c: drive.
allllllllso there's one more thing, when i originally had tried installing ovi suite on my computer i had more than 1gb free. after installing it i on'ly had 500mb free. i had only intended for it to use a very small amount of space, and since i also use my c: drive for virtual memory i quickly uninstalled it, looking for an option i'd maybe skipped over while installing it the first time. no luck. anyways, when i looked in the add/remove programs control panel the installed size of ovi suite was only 40-50mb. even after uninstalling ovi suite the extra memory space that seemed to all of a sudden taken up by the installation stayed used.
when looking at the file sizes of everything on my hard drive, (including system files and paging file) there is still a descreprency between the amount of memory used and the size of all files total on the drive. at this point im quite disgusted and disapointed in ovi suite as i'm mostly unable to use it to connect my phone to my computer and i'm also having problems with the CA101 cable as well. i guess i'll have to go check for another cable.
nokia!!! wake up and fix yo **bleep**!!!!
anyone have any solutions for the main problem? (installing to a drive other than c? is there support for this option in any of the new beta versions? can that be included in the newest betas? i'm suuuuuure i'm not the only one begging for this option!!!

Hi ostrenga4, sorry to hear about your experiences.
When installing Nokia Ovi Suite to PC, Windows makes "system restoration points", which are available to restore operating system to previous condition, if something goes wrong, for example in driver installation.
You can change install location of Nokia Ovi Suite with following:
    - Download Nokia Ovi Suite install package from Nokia Ovi Suite pages
    - Start Windows Command prompt
    - From Command prompt, navigate to folder containing Nokia Ovi Suite install package, which you downloaded
    - Start Nokia Ovi Suite install package with command line "Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe /TARGET="D:\TestDir\Test"
    - This results, that Nokia Ovi Suite installer creates folder D:\TestDir\Test (if that doesn't exist) and installs Nokia Ovi Suite there.
    - Unfortunately, Windows Installer still keeps installer cache files and system restoration points in C: drive (or whatever your system drive is)
As you can see, this is possible, but it is very much recommend to have enough space for installing software into system drive.
    Cheers, Samuli

  • Ovi suite and nokia c5-03

I have tried continually today to get my phone to be recognised by ovi suite.
It see's the phone model when adding a new device, but when i click on the phone, it comes up with the phone is not in ovi suite mode????
What the heck, its the only mode available apart from mass storage etc.
It IS in ovi suite mode, I have done this several times, unplugged the phone from the USB cable and replugged it in. restarted ovi suite. restarted the computer, all to no avail.
Cannot even use pc suite, which is the program i actually prefer to use. PC suite recognises i have the c5 connected but wont allow me to do anything either
Please please help i need to back up and put stuff on the phone that i had saved from my old phone (old phone lost somewhere on the motorway so cannot sync that way)

    Hi,
Can you try the suggestions below?
-Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel (called Programs
and Features in Microsoft Windows 7).
Select Nokia Ovi Suite in the list of applications and click
    Change/Remove.
In the dialog that appears, choose Repair.
    - Click Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver and repair
-Try creating the connection between your phone and computer
totally from scratch. Start by disconnecting your phone. In
Nokia Ovi Suite, select Tools > Options > My devices. Select
your phone at the top of the window and click Remove this
    device.
Then, select Tools > Add new device, and follow the
    instructions to reconnect the phone.
If this doesn't solve the problem,
-Uninstall the following programs withAdd/Remove Programs in
Control Panel (called Programs and Features in Microsoft
    Windows 7):
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    Nokia Ovi Suite
    PC Connectivity Solution
Then, download and install the latest version of Nokia Ovi
    I hope this helps.

  • 'Nokia PC Suite' & 'Nokia Ovi Suite' for my Nokia ...

'Nokia Pc Suite' & 'Nokia Ovi Suite' are same softwer?
Bcz my nokia C1-01 have nokia ovi suite, when my computer install Nokia pc suite & connect, then my mobile display show 'nokia ovi suite' & 'mass storage' when click 'nokia ovi suite' can't find my mobile in my computer!
    why??
Moderator's note: We provided a topic-related to the subject to the post so other users can easily identify and answer the concern.

The USB mode in your Nokia might be called Modem, PC Suite or Nokia Suite, or even Nokia Ovi Suite. In your phone, all these four USB modes are the same.
The PC Suite and the Nokia Suite are two different software titles which can be used in parallel. Furthermore, the Nokia Suite is the successor of (replaced) the Nokia Ovi Suite.
Before you download and install all these software, I recommend to install the latest Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver first.
If that did not help, please, plug-in your Nokia, select that Suite mode, and go to to Windows » Start » Contol Panel (» Hardware » Devices) » Device-Manager » USB » right-click on your Nokia » Update Driver Software. Did that help?

  • What are third party alternatives to Ovi Suite

I really like my Nokia E63 Smartphone, and Nokia PC Suite is usable, I'll say no more than that.
Unfortunately its replacement Nokia Ovi Suite, really is a dire application, appearing to have a UI designed by a child, and the coding done by someone committed to an asylum.
Harsh words, indeedy so, but this Ovi Suite really does bring out the worst in a person when to attempt to use it.
Enough has already been written about its short comings, so I won't waste time re-visiting...
My quest is for a suitable third part application that will do the business without the problems.
Searching around I've found two possibles, OxyCube which unfortunately just will not install its required bit on my phone, and MobilEdit which works reasonably well, but has a very dodgy .CSV import capability.
So my question here to the knowledgeable is:
Are there any other third party replacements for the Nokia offering?
    Thanks
    Ax

+1 from me on both looking for a third party app, and loathing the Nokia-as-the-centre-of-the-universe approach to coding.  Nokia 5800.
Had a torrid time with the OVI 3 update which simply doesn't do the sync'ing it promises to do, so rolled back to OVI 2 which gets stuck on insisting that I reinstall (a perfectly functioning) MS Outlook.
Since my Nokia phone is now next to useless through not giving me what I paid for, I'll also start looking at other brands.  Well done Nokia!

  • N97 sync with new OVI suite

I had my N97 mini and my laptop syncing fine. I have installed the latest OVI suite and now I cannot get the phone into PC suite mode. The OVI suite seems to think it is connected OK but when I click the icon I get a message to change the phone to PC suite mode. The laptop does not see any of the phonrs drives. If I switch the phone to mass storage mode, the laptop sees the drives on the phone.
I have tried re-installing the OVI suite but the result is the same.
It seems to be the phone rather than the OVI suite as the computer does not see the pnone in PC suite mode.
    Any ideas?

    Hi pbhadley
I am not sure whether this will solve your problrm but you could try this once.
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and Ovi suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.

  • OVI suite never starts up!

After downloading and and installing, all of which the computer reported was successful, the OVI suite doesn't start up...
When I start it, it took me through a device definition sequence and then opens the program ( I also believe that it gave me error saying something about not being able to connect to a music server, of which I don't care because mainly I want to sync to my outlook calendar).
When I get to the contact area, I get a couple of rotating circles of dots (like it's working or something).  It also shows my device @ the bottom left and it also has a rotating circle of dots by it with some verbiage about setting it up.
I thought maybe the 1st time you start it might take a while, but I left it alone for a couple of hours with no apparent change.
    HELP PLEASE.
All that I want to do is sync my outlook calendar, so if there is an easier way please let me know that also.
    Solved!

I have a similar problem.  I have recently installed OVI Suite on my computer at my place of work.  When I click on it to start it, the splash screen is displayed and after a few second it goes away.  The little green OVI icon is displayed in the notification area.  When I move the mouse of it is also goes away.  The event log shows a number of information items and warnings including the following warning...

  • Ovi suite - message create - Recipient list not di...

In message suite creation option when I search the name of a recipient it displays several numbers correctly but does not display the legend of that phone number (e.g. Mobile or Telephone Home) . It is therefore impossible to know if the number is a  mobile number or a fixed line. For your information in  the contact module the contact type is displayed in the correct category (e.g Telphone Home). Please add this telehone number legend so that I can upgrade from PC suite. Thanks

In ovi suite on my computer when i list reciept phone number i have several numbers under the same name but the program does not show if the number is the mobile number or the phone numbe ror the work number. SO i don't know if i am sending it to the person's mobile number.

  • Ovi Suite 2 and Internet Connection

My computer is connected to the Internet via mobile boardband and it works fine.  Now, I'm using Ovi Suite 2, and when I check for any new software through Ovi Suite, it insists on connecting to the Internet via my phone or it just says there's no Internet connection available.  Why can't Ovi Suite use my computer's connection?  This problem existed with Ovi Suite 1 too.
For some reasons PC Suite 7 won't connect to my phone at all in Windows 7, but Ovi Suite is OK.
FWIW, I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, connecting to my phone via Bluetooth.
P.S.  Why is Ovi Suite so slow?  A basic sync of contacts and calendar was done in seconds in PC Suite, now it's minutes...

    Hi there,
altough I'm not from Australia, I'm facing same problem with NOS connection while checking for updates.
    The specs:
    Nokia Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1
    PC Connectivity Solution 10.18.0.0
    Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.29.0
Nokia Ovi Suite Software Updater 2010.18.0.60492
    Maps Service API 3.0.38.0
    Nokia mPlatform 2.6.86
    Ovi Desktop Sync Engine 1.1.0.82
    Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit Edition
    Language: Polish
    Connection: USB
    Nokia 5230
    Firmware: 10.0.071.259.02
Whenever I try to check if there're any updates for both NOS and 5230 firmware, Ovi Suite gives me an error saying my connection is broken or the firewall is blocking ports.
I'm 100% sure BitDefender allows NOS to connect to the internet, the machine was restarted after the installation.
    Any solution for this?
    Thanks!

  • Ovi Suite will not recognize E72

    Dear All,
I have recently installed ovi suite. My computer keeps asking me to install the driver for the "bluetooth peripheral" device (and it can't find the program to install). But that is not the real problem. problem is when i connect my phone to the pc it doesn't recognize it, i've gone through all the help files and done everything, checked the connection was right, disconnected, rebooted both devices and reconnected, and made sure it was on use as Ovi Suite when the option comes in the beginning.
Furthermore, although my computer sees the phone as a Bluetooth device and i can browse and copy files to and fro the phone, the pc suite doesn't recognize the phone via the bluetooth route either.again, i've gone through all the help suggestions.
What could possibly be the problem?

OVI SUITE DISCUSSION SCREENSHOT.jpg ‏123 KB

I also encountered this issue recently..
The methods mentioned above may probably work, but what finally got mine to work (PC Suite and Ovi Suite not recognizing connection type, even when WinXP already recognizes the device and can use the Nokia Phone Browser to browse the cellphone's folders) was the following:
I've posted it in more detail here:
    /t5/Connectivity/Can-t-connect-N97-to-PC-via-USB-cable/m-p/716873#M31885
Seems to me that there might be some bug with the Nokia Connecitivity Cable Driver and/or PC Connecitivity Solution which caused the cellphones to not be recognized by PC Suite/Ovi Suite sometimes (it worked the other day, but suddenly doesn't recognize today).
Re-posting the steps I tried and got it to work:
    Summary:
    0) (the phone/USB cable must not be connected to the PC during this time):
    1) Uninstall Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
    2) Uninstall PC Connectivity Solution
    3) (reboot if necessary)
    4) Install Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver (Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver.MSI)
    5) Install PC Connectivity Solution (PCCS.MSI)
    6) Now connect your cellphone; wait for the cellphone to be installed properly in Device Manager (may take a while since it installs several devices like "Nokia E72 USB Phone Parent, Nokia E72 USB OBEX, Nokia E72 USB modem, etc). It installed around 8 devices on the E72. Similar for E63.
    7) Try running Nokia PC Suite: Connect a phone. It should be able to recognize the "USB cable type of connection" and identify the phone's model.
    8) Try running Ovi Suite, which should also identify the USB connection type and the cellphone model.
If you've previously installed Nokia PC Suite (or maybe Ovi Suite?), there seem to be a backup copy of the required installer files residing in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Installations\{<CLSID-a long string of numbers>}\Packages\CCD\Setup\Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver.MSI and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Installations\{<CLSID-a long string of numbers>}\Packages\PCCS\Setup\PCCS.MSI .
Hoping this might work for you too.
