Ovi Suite Outlook meeting and task reminders

Hello, when working I strongly rely on Outlook's reminders window. When a reminder for a task or a date is active on the mobile, I have to stop the alarm in order to not have the alarm start every couple of minutes although the task might not be finished. Upon the next synchronisation with the PC, the reminder will be removed from the task/date on the PC and the task/date will no longer show up in the reminder window although the task might not be finished. Repeated tasks also have their reminders removed once and forever and future instances of these tasks will no langer call attention. This is proper performance of the mobile calendar software and Ovi synchronisation (apart from the repeated tasks maybe) as far as I can see still I would need to work around this behaviour because of the aforementioned reasons. What I would need is to stop the reminder on the mobile and still have the task/date stay in outlook's reminder window. Any ideas apart from the trivial "don't synchronize" solution? • Ovi Suite + Outlook 2010 Calendar/Tasks Nightmares...

As of the latest Ovi update (v. 3.1.1.78), my persistent troubles with syncing my phone (e71x) with my Outlook 2010 Calendar & Tasks have gone from bad to intolerable. Previously, only occasional events, such as anniversaries, would be incorrectly changed by Ovi - always one day before they should be.
But now, on every other sync, my ENTIRE task list is moved to the prior respective due dates. I don't know what to do, but I'm sick of this **bleep**. This has been going on for almost a year to some degree, and that's totally unacceptable. It's not even worth syncing anymore - it takes longer to correct all the stuff it screws up than it does to just update manually.
I'm thisclose to going Michael-Bolton-in-Office-Space w/ a baseball bat on this POS phone.
    Help???

please fix the q10 so it can sync outlook notes and tasks - a very important feature!

I find it shocking that this "issue" has still not been resolved.  Why do you keep giving people reasons to switch?  Tasks and notes are integral to many people's BB experience...

  • Ovi Suite 2.0 and Maps

I've recently downloaded and installed Ovi Suite 2.0 and I am mostrly satisfied with its functionalities. I have some questions though regarding navigation maps handling (I have a Nokia 6710 Navigator phone):
    - it seems like there is no way of knowing which version of maps are installed in the phone and which version are available for download: this is no good, since I can't tell if I need to update the maps in my phone
    - the same apply to downloadable voices
    - why I can only delete ALL the maps in my phone (using Ovi Suite) and not just a selection of them?
    - what happens if I don't delete the maps in my phone and I download a map which already exists in the phone?
Thanks in advance to whom might answer to the above.

I have the same questions, hope someone add info to this.
One more question is how to know which maps are in the phone. Recently I did the download of Hungary map, went to that (really nice!) country on vacation and to find out that my Nokia, the first time I used the maps, did the download from internet in roaming. That took long and was costly.

  • N86 no longer syncs with Outlook Calendar and Task

I have been having much troubles with syncing my N86 (recently updated to 30.009 firmware) to my Outlook 2003 with Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1.
At first, the Contacts kept duplicating themselves.  I have about 1000 contacts in my Outlook, but Ovi Suite (and my N86 device) ends up sometimes with 1800 contacts -- of which 800 are duplicates.  This is very annoying and time consuming to clean up of course.  I have discovered that the problem is somehow linked to Ovi.com.  I have since turned off syncing to Ovi.com and only keep my N86 device in sync with Outlook and Ovi Suite.  But that wasn't before I had to basically delete all my contacts from the N86 device and from Ovi Suite, followed by a sync to Outlook.
Around this same time, I have noticed that my N86 device was missing appointments that I had entered into Outlook 2003.  I discovered that the N86 device no longer syncs to Outlook through Ovi Suite.  I keep getting the error message "Sync Canceled -- Could not sync calendar items and tasks. Plug the USB cable into your device again or connect via Bluetooth. Then sync again."  I did reconnect my N86 device but the same error message shows each time.  Basically, Ovi Suite has stopped syncing Calendar items with my N86 device now.
Can anyone suggest what might have gone wrong?  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  What can I do to get my calendar items back into my device?

    Hi Tickles,
Could you be more specific about your issue.
Which operating system do u use?
Are you trying to connect thru cable or thru Bluetooth?
Go to OVI suite -> help -> About nokia OVI suite -> System information. Paste the information...

  • Nokia Ovi Suite 2.0 and Calendar Sync

Why did Nokia get rid of the calendar sync function that allows a user to sync years into the future and past.
Nokia Ovi Suite is a poor replacement for Nokia PC Suite.

I sync with Outlook calendar all the time.  Ovi Suite also takes all the time in the world to sync, but the ability is there.

  • OVI problem replace calender and tasks with those ...

    hi all,
I have a brand new Nokia C2-01 that I love. But I am struggling with the OVI suite and beg for your help
Using the latest version of OVI (3.1.1.85), I want to keep the calender on the mobile up to the date with those in my Outlook. As I mainly change my dates in Outlook, I want this calender as the only source for the mobile calender.
here is the problem: whenever I sync the calender with the C2-01, it does not recognize the changes made in Outlook. it simply mixes the dates both calenders and creates a mess in both (same when I allow to delete dates)
in the old nokia pc suite - which, unfortunately, does not suppert the C2-01; I already tried - there was this nice feature that first deleted all entries on the mobile phone and then but the content of the Outlook calender in there. OVI, for whatever reason, does not have it anymore
what can I do to make this work?
    thanks a lot!
    harry

Yes I've checked the link too. But I still can't sync the notes (and only the notes) from my Nokia E65.
OVI Suite will happily copy all other content at start up but failes when it starts to copy the notes each time giving the "Reconnect USB...." message with error number 83860005 (if that means anything to anyone).
After many attempts yesterday I copied the notes to my Outlook, but again I now get the same mesage and it won't update! The only thing that I can think of is that some of my notes are pretty long and that there maybe a limit to the number of characters copied befor the process terminates???

  • Ovi Suite annoying alerts and pop-ups

The features of the Ovi Suite are OK. User interfaces also are nice. But what's with these alerts and application pop-ups??? Why do I need to get alert "No internet connection" if I'm even not using the application? Why the application pops up when doing something in background (sync I suppose)? Additionally because of the huge memory usage I always switch the application off and on when required.
As I've already told I like the application. But these few things spoils the party.

As I use wifi connection on my laptop the internet usually switches from one wifi router to another and I get this OVI "no internet" alert. Sometimes when I'm away and come back I have 5-10 alert pop-ups.
Maybe you would make a tick box in the options menu to diable this message. OR let the alert popup dissapear when the internet is back?
Now I simply kill the ovi aplication when not needed.
Using Windows 7, with N81. Ovi is 2.0.2.42.
What happened to old good Nokia PC Suite?

  • Ovi Suite Syncing Messages and Contacts

I have Ovi Suite installed on my desktop and laptop and both computers are not syncing contacts and messages, just keeps saying syncing messages do not disconnect, I've turned off the phone and back on again and sometimes that fixes the problem, turned off and on bluetooth and sometimes would fix the problem also but now whatever I do does not work. Also tried connecting via USB cable. I have also tried repairing, deleting the device on the phone and even gone back to Nokia PC Suite 7 and still nothing, can someone help me out here please?
    Thanks

Well for anyones information. Syncing with ovi suite.
I have successfully got ovi suite working.
For those with problems this is what I did. I have vista.
    1. I uninstalled all programs from nokia.( ovi suite using the online uninstaller. Pc suite using the installed uninstall program.
then i ran pc suite cleaner.
    2. using search for nokia then using advanced search for all nokia folders remaining (important to use advanced search or you will miss some of the folders and files. Then deleted them. Some you may have to change the user permissions to delete them. It is important to delete these as they hold data and i think might be one of the conflicts stopping sync working.
    3. Delete any remaining files except bookmarks pics etc.
now there should be nothing on the pc.
Then download and run ccleaner. Cleaner and registry.
    Reboot pc
    Then download ovi suite.
A wizard might pop up but if not start ovi suite and connect your phone. I turned bluetooth off and used usb.
The phone will download settings. You can select pc suite on the sync settings in the phone. not ovi.com.
the program is good and worth the trouble. It saves your messages and contacts as well as syncing contacts and calendar with your required program, also bookmarks can be saved with firefox and explorer in your phone folder in favourites. It creates the folder. To transfer bookmarks from pc to phone ensure they are in this folder.
This took me a lot of reboots and time with a few calls to nokia and i am still waiting for their callback!!!
It also works fine on my xp computer too.

  • Outlook Calender and Tasks Scheduling forecast Improvement

Often times task assigned don't end in one hour or a few hours or few days.  It would be nice to have a feature whereby I can select "To be completed in" 10 "weeks" or "days" or "hours".  So I can custom
enter my number, but also custom choose how long the task will be:  weeks or days or months.  Something of the likes of a "Scheduling wheel cart" given out by our Vendors for advertising.  This neat feature if incorporated will give
the user an instantaneous outlook of the forcast for specific tasks and can plan other items or make important schedule planning decisions.

    Hi,
The Task is an Outlook feature which data is saved in mailbox in Exchange server. Since the issue is related to the Outlook feature instead of Exchange server, please refer to Ed Crowley’s suggestion to ask a question in Outlook forum for more help:

  • C7 problem with OVI suite and Outlook exchange 200...

    Hello,
I'm now own a NOKIA C7 and need to switch to OVI suite, PC suite is not supported for this  handy. OVI suite is not synchronizing my contacts from exchange to my C7.
With my old N73 and PC suite I did not have the problem on my DELL M4400 notebook.
What I've found out, in case of using a USB cable connected nothing was able to synchronize,
no contacts, calendar and Notes. The OVI suite did nothing for 15 minutes, only searching for somewhat.
Crazy is, in case of using a Bluetooth connection (removed the USB connection), it was possible to synchronize the calendar and Notes, but contacts were still not possible, some issue as before.
We verified this problem, using a NOKIA N8 from a colleague - exactly same happened.
I was happy to have at least the calendar synchronized, because I need this for my job.
Nevertheless the contact synchronization issue need to be fixed...
I've bought the C7 with symbian, because I expected no problems in compare to other available Handy Companies and now this...
My personnel opinion, the OVI suite is currently not was the people expecting - support for consumer people and flexible for business people. For me PC suite was much more, what I need.
Now, I'm waiting for support to fix my problem...
    Best regards,

I never had problems with my old N73, using PC suite - this worked well over years.
I did, what you proposed. Completly uninstall all. Afterwards, I did a registry cleaning and program files cleaning, so nothing from th e PC suite and Ovi Suite was longer on my Notebook.
Next step was reinstalling OVI suite, including cable and BT driver - this was resulting nearly the same - advantage was only, that I can now use BT and USB to update Calender, tasks and notes.

  • Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 broke Outlook 2010 sync, stuck...

241 worked pretty well, but with 245 I cannot sync with Outlook 2010 at all.
The preparation phase will not complete:
      "Preparing to sync notes..."
"Preparing to sync calendar and tasks..."
    It also cannot be aborted.
When setting up sync, the selection of Outlook folders is very slow (several minutes), but it eventually does allow me to choose a folder. Still, I'm guessing the problem lies with the Outlook interface (MAPI?)
I haven't tried to re-install Ovi yet, but looks like I have to.
    Related info:
    - 245 was an update to 241 (no re-install)
    - Nokia E71
    - Windows 7 x64
    - Office 2010

I am not sure this will solve your problem but you can try this once.
    1. Uninstall Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove program if anything is there.
    2. Delete the files from here If anything is there
    C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Nokia\Ovi Suite
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache
    3. Please download MSI clean up utility from the below link
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Once installed please select the programs related to Nokia and click remove.
    Restart Computer.
Then download and install Windows Installer, so that the installer is upto date.

    4. Restart the PC
    5. Download and Install latest OviSuite http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite
    6. Connect the device and try to sync

  • Ovi Suite truncated Outlook 2007 PST!!! please be ...

Today morning when I turned on my PC, Nokia PC Suite asked me to install a software update and I agreed to download I think updates always are a good thing. BUTTTTTTTTT........ After the update I sync Outlook calendar and tasks plus contacts and for my surprise now I open outlook and experience 2 BIG PROBLEMS. I have all my birthdays entries changed one day before the day it is really loaded in contact details. and worse of all all my task have been reaped off, I enter them and see them with typographic changed, all of them have lose the format and are incomplete the content is truncated! incomplete, unusable!
PST repair tool won't help, ovi suite had made permanent changes to the file even when I have selected that when conflict occurs, outlook data overcomes phone.
I'm completely dissapointed, tryed everything even uninstalling product of course and nothing give's me back my outlook and my whole life organizer indeed! I think nokia should test this kind of products better before destroying data like this !
    I'm angry, yes I'am!.
I will have to return to a saturday backup and lose all the huge data entered till now!
bad work boys, I will keep using pcsuite that worked well. And I will suggest to other people never, NEVER make an update from nokia anymore. not at least making a full computer backup wich is ridiculous! just to sync a few items from a mail program that has so much years in the market and is very well known.
I Hope other people may be more wise than me and check this forum before ruining his outlook datafile.

I experienced virtually the identical problem using OVI 2.0 to sync with MS Outlook Contacts as mikaelgreen.   I have over 1500 contacts in MS Outlook 2003, many with Note fields exceeding 300 characters.  After syncing with OVI 2.0, all the contacts with longer note fields had been truncated back to between 224 and 267 characters.
But worse, when OVI 2.0 sync'd back to the Outlook database, it updated all the note fields in my original Outlook Contacts database on my PC with the truncated note fields.  Really bad.
It is one thing for new software not to work perfectly ... that is understandable.  But for released, non-beta software to destroy data in another program ... that is simply irresponsible and incompetent on the part of the OVI 2.0 development team.  Fortunately I had backed up my Outlook database before installing OVI 2.0!  But several more trusting users may not have done that, and thus may have had years of data destroyed because the OVI 2.0 developers did not bother to test the syncing process properly.
Phone: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic RM 428 (firmware 31.2.101)
    Computer: Dell SX-270, 2GB RAM, Windows XP SP3, MS Outlook 2003 (11.8313.8221) SP3
I deleted OVI 2.0 and installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1, which seems to sync perfectly well ... no truncated note fields.
This is an important issue for Nokia if they hope to make a headway in the smartphone market in the USA (where they have virtually no presence). If users feel that they cannot trust Nokia/Symbian to be careful with their data (and honestly, after this experience, I don't think they can be trusted), they will not buy.  With this kind of "kindergarten" testing effort they demonstrated with OVI 2.0, Nokia/Symbian is rapidly building negative rather than positive "buzz".  For me (a mostly business-oriented user), before I found the alternated PC Suite 7 syncing solution, I was actively looking to abandon my newly purchased 5800 for something not Nokia ... e.g., go back to Blackberry, or try Android, WebOS, etc.  And frankly, I may still do so.

    Ovi onT'InterWebThingy  was being stupid
    said could not see device
device was not synched since Dec
    could not load settings
sorry could not retrieve device information
    etc, etc
    SO
removed device - well I tried, kept failing
said could not remove - persisted, round and round again and again
removed and setup new device BUT - at one point said I had three devices
loads of txts to phone to configure
FINALLY removed all three! and added only one!
THEN uninstalled Ovi suite on PC and re-installed
    Then it all worked !
