Ovi Suite password login

Hi all,
here's a suggestion for a new feature: open password-protected login for Ovi suite.
I use a family computer with just one account, I don't like everyone can see all my contacts and messages. What do you think?
Greetings,
MG10000100

i've always thought ovi suite shd be password protected!!! especially the messages and photo's.. sometimes people leave their computers on/ have shared computers accessible to others, you can imagine someone going through your messages even when you're not there!!! nokia guys keep telling us to protect our windows accounts which isn't possible for some of us, plus its not appropriate for nokia to tell us how to use out windows, let nokia talk about protecting ovi. i've resulted to disabling 'synching' in ovi suite, iv even deleted the ovi icon from the desktop hoping no one is smart enough to look for it in programs...
nokia should do something!!!

  • N97 Windows 7 Ovi Suite vs PC Suite

I upgraded from a working N95 to an N97 that's giving me too many headaches and would like some help.
There are problems with the phone itself.  If I place/take a call with the phone operating as a speakerphone, the the other person always has difficulty hearing me.  Then there are the GPS problems, which is the main reason I bought into the N Series - the N95 worked so well, even though it never seems to update its maps (some roads and roundabouts are missing, as well as the postcode errors common to all satnavs).  If the upgrade to V2.0 firmware (still waiting on Vodafone UK to release this) doesn't sort this and the frequent freezing that requires removing the battery, I'm returning this phone.  To those who've successfully upgraded to the latest firmware, does it solve these problems I mentioned?
Then there are problems with the PC software.  It appears as though the designers of Ovi Suite wanted to focus on form and ignore function.  I upgraded to Windows 7.  No upgrades have been released by Nokia for Windows 7 to date, despite the long public beta programme.  According to other posters on this forum, the Ovi Suite and PC Suite software work with Windows 7 but it hasn't been perfect.
First, Windows 7 doesn't include Windows Calendar and Windows Contacts anymore (included up to Vista).  They're forcing us to use Outlook or Windows Live.  Ovi Suite 2.0.1.35 doesn't work with Windows Live - so if I want to manage/sync my calendar on/with my PC, I have to use PC Suite.
PC Suite may not look as impressive as Ovi Suite, but it is significantly more useful.  PC Suite also doesn't work with Windows Live (at nearly £100, I won't be buying Outlook!).  But at least I can directly manage my calendar via my PC.  Also, I couldn't get Ovi Suite to login to my Ovi account - complained about no Internet connection when that's not the case.  So Ovi Suite 2.0 is being replaced by PC Suite as I write this.
Even before moving to Windows 7, Ovi Suite did not sync properly with Vista's Calendar and Contacts - so since getting the N97, I've had to stick with PC Suite.  After upgrading to Windows 7, I started getting problems installing the MTP driver (it would always fail) - I found a registry hack on this post that solved that problem.
Also, I've put about 2,500 tracks on my phone, but the Nokia Music app is very slow to upload any tracks and is not as user-friendly as Sony Ericsson's MediaGo app, or iTunes.  And if I'm in the view that shows every track, if I make a change to a track, it automatically pops back to the top of the list - I waste too much time moving back to where I was in the list.
I hope the N97 becomes a useful phone, and Nokia release proper software for Windows 7, by Christmas - if not, this is the last time I trust any advertising from Nokia about its products.  I'm stuck on with this phone until 2011, thanks to Vodafone.  Between the poor N97 phone and PC application performance, and Vodafone's inexplicable delay in releasing Nokia's firmware upgrades, I think both Nokia and Vodafone UK will be losing this customer in 2011.  The Apple iPhone may be pricier, but the darn thing works.  And HTC, Samsung and Sony Ericsson are good enough - my wife has no problems with her SE W715.

    Hi edmundgall,
As you said there are few of our forum members facing issue in using OVI Suite with Windows 7.  Officially NOS 2.0.1.35 was not compatible with Windows 7, but few customers are saying in our forums, they dont have any issues with Windows 7.  After listening to our forum members like, we expect that NOKIA will start supporting Windows 7 officially from its next Nokia OVI Suite release onwards.  Keep your fingers crossed.  Its not only slowly people will migrate to Windows 7, so it should be in supported Operating System list of NOS 2.0

  • Ovi Suite does not recognise special MP3 files

My Ovi Suite does not import some of my MP3 files, even though they have proper ID3 tags (there are even albums where some files are recognised and others not, although I can see no difference in the "quality" of the tags). If I directly choose one of those to add, the program always states "0 files added".
I would like to get ALL of my MP3s (approx 2GB) into Ovi suite, not just 80%. Can anyone give me a hint why Ovi suite dislikes some of my files?
    Thanks!
    Fabian

  • Ovi Suite Crashes When Connecting Phone: How to re...

Ovi locks up a minute or two after connecting the phone, always.
Cannot do a backup.  Cannot do Outlook synchronization.
Initially it worked for a while.
How do you reset synchronization to start over?
What Ovi Suite files do you delete on the phone to do a synchronization reset?
To use maps properly, you need Ovi Suite.
    Configuration Details:
    XP SP3, 1GB of memory
    Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Model: 5800d-1b RM-428
    Ovi Suite Now Uninstalled: V2.2.0.241
PC Connectivity Solution Now Uninstalled: 10.24.0.0
With Firmware: V40.2.005 was able to download maps.
After updating to firmware to:  V50.2.005 phone connection crashes began.
    Phone itself is working ok.
    My solution:
Remove Ovi Suite & all traces of Nokia on PC.
    Install PC Suite.
    Now sync'ing works fine.
    Notes:
    * All other devices work fine on same USB connection.
    * Rebooting makes no difference.

  • Can I sync two Nokia phones with Ovi Suite?

I have 2 different Nokia phones. I'd like to save my data to my PC, so I've just downloaded and installed Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23.
When I connected the second phone successfully, there was a green link that said something like "Get tips on syncing several phones with Ovi Suite". However when I clicked there, nothing happened.
When I click "Help->Nokia Ovi Suite Help" on the toolbar, nothing happens, no help tips.
The first phone synced all 82 photos and Contacts and messages to Ovi Suite.
I created a new album with that phone's name, and dragged those pictures from "All"  to the new album, to try & keep them organized.
When I connected the second phone all of the Contacts synced (there were a lot) and now they are mixed in with the contacts from the first phone. However the photos would not sync. Then a few photos synced, making a total of 156 shown in All (which included the 82 photos from the first phone). When I would click "Sync" nothing visible happened.
But I did see the photos from the second phone on the PC. I did drag them from the PC into the album created with the name of the second phone.
Now when I look at the photo album with the first phone's name, it says "You have no photos or videos in this album, Drag photos and videos to this album." Yikes! But they are still on my PC.
This is very confusing. I agree with the others, Nokia PC Suite worked well, Ovi Suite seems very confused.
Is any of this uploaded to my online Ovi account?
    Thanks for your advice.

    ronni333 & boing,
Somewhere on the nokia ovi website it says you need to use seperate windows logins. Have one login for work and use that when you use ovi to sync your work phone. Other login to sync your personal phone. I lost the link to that webpage, but that is about all it said.
ronni333 - I also had problem with ovi help, the link appeared to be empty. I was using Google Chrome to surf the net. Problem solved by using Internet Explorer instead.
Hope this info helps you guys.
    Cheers,
    chillimuncher
