Ovi Suite Pictures - Thumbnails Grayed Out

All of a sudden, Ovi Suite only shows my photos as "grayed out" icons rather than the thumbnail.
Not sure what has happened. Anyone see this? Better yet, anyone have a fix?
Thanks!
DZ

HAHAHAH LOL
I used the Installation repair (started from Windows 7 uninstall programs in the control panels,) and now the Album Art is gone as well as the thumbnails for my photos.
I am currently downloading the full installer. I'll uninstall and reinstall and see what happens.
p.s. - This problem is with Ovi 2.1.1.1, Windows 7 home (licensed), N97

  • Thumbnails  Grayed out with Question over them

I have several thumbnails that are grayed out with a white question mark over the thumbnail which indicates that it has "lost" the original photo. However, the photo is in the Finder/Pictures and the name has not been changed.
How do I get iPhoto to "find" the photo?
Must I re-import it to iPhoto?
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Are you sure it's a "?" instead of an "!" ? In any case try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
    Fix #2
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
    Fix #3
Start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
    1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.

  • Using photoshop elements 13 but the option to crop a single image is grayed out and also the option to crop a scanned image into individual pictures is grayed out - any ideas?

The option to crop an image is always grayed out or unavailable - both for single images and when I want to crop scanned images into individual pictures. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

Did you try using the crop tool to see if it is working?  See the tool I am talking about.
I suspect you are in Guided Mode rather than in Quick Mode or Expert Mode.

  • View thumbnails grayed out

I have a 300-photo slideshow where I'm cutting photos, moving others around extensively, so I want to be able to see more photo rows in the thumbnail screen. But in the View menu, the thumbnail options are grayed out (as well as the Sort menu). What gives?

Create an Album of the pics you want to use in the Slideshow. That will go into Full Screen View. Arrange the pics as you wish them before moving to slideshow mode.

  • Ovi suite, picture sync, lost gps data

To organize photos in my computer I'm using Picasa.
When I synchronized images with PC Suite 7, they keep the GPS data, and Picasa (and me) can see where I've shot these pictures.
When I synchronized pictures with OVI suite, the GPS data is lost. Picasa does not recognize them at least ...
    Does anyone know a solution?

I have heard that Nokia is fixing this in near future update. So, the solution seems to be "a fix to a bug in new Ovi Suite version".

First of all it's not possible to have OVI Suite in my auto-start since all other programs stom responding after being loaded.
When removing OVI Suite I can start my computer and do whatever I want. But when I start OVI Suite manually I can do everything until it tries to log in into the server. From that point on OVI Suite does not respond anymore. Further, all other programs are crashed as well, i.e. firefox does not load new data, other programs can not be started anymore, etc... Does anyone have any idea what the cause might be,
    Thanks a lot in advance,

I've got the same problems with Ovi Suite (the actual download) and my Vista-64-PC. Whith Ovi Suite installed and the system freshly started , Ovi tells me that it cannot connect to the internet (although the pc is already connected to the net by lan) and hangs. And even without starting OVI, just after having it installed, some other programs which normally cause no trouble (e.g. Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice ...)  cannot be used any more. If I try to start them, nothing seems to happen, but the Task Manager shows that they are running as process but not as application.
Nokia PC Suite on the other side causes no problems. Seems to be a big bug of Ovi Suite. Anyone from Nokia reading this support ciscussion?

  • IPhoto Library Grayed Out

I upgraded to iPhoto 08 and now cannot go directly to my photos as the iPhoto library icon in "Pictures" is grayed out. I can get it off my external drive. This means that I cannot attach a photo in my web based email, neither Yahoo or Gmail, from my Mac because I cannot get to the file. I end up going to the mounted HDD to accomplish this task. I used to be able to do this with iPhoto 6 and would prefer to do so as I do not always have the drive mounted. Any ideas?

One of the problems with posting into a thread is that you can easily be missed. Especially when you say
I am also having a similar issue.
But it's not. The OP on this thread was talking about accessing files in the Finder, you're dealing with a damaged database.
    Some things to try:
The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder in the Finder.
Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If that fails, then it's likely that your database file is damaged.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Edit in Photoshop "Grayed out"

I have Photoshop CS5 Extended and Lightroom 2.7. When selecting 5 images, right clicking on them and trying to edit them in Photoshop those features are grayed out. Actually all feature which should work with PS are grayed out, but Nik features work.

  • What are third party alternatives to Ovi Suite

I really like my Nokia E63 Smartphone, and Nokia PC Suite is usable, I'll say no more than that.
Unfortunately its replacement Nokia Ovi Suite, really is a dire application, appearing to have a UI designed by a child, and the coding done by someone committed to an asylum.
Harsh words, indeedy so, but this Ovi Suite really does bring out the worst in a person when to attempt to use it.
Enough has already been written about its short comings, so I won't waste time re-visiting...
My quest is for a suitable third part application that will do the business without the problems.
Searching around I've found two possibles, OxyCube which unfortunately just will not install its required bit on my phone, and MobilEdit which works reasonably well, but has a very dodgy .CSV import capability.
So my question here to the knowledgeable is:
Are there any other third party replacements for the Nokia offering?
    Thanks
    Ax

+1 from me on both looking for a third party app, and loathing the Nokia-as-the-centre-of-the-universe approach to coding.  Nokia 5800.
Had a torrid time with the OVI 3 update which simply doesn't do the sync'ing it promises to do, so rolled back to OVI 2 which gets stuck on insisting that I reinstall (a perfectly functioning) MS Outlook.
Since my Nokia phone is now next to useless through not giving me what I paid for, I'll also start looking at other brands.  Well done Nokia!

  • Photos grayed out

Some, not all, of my pictures are grayed out in the All Photos view. I can click on the light gray square and the picture is revealed. But when I return to the All Photos view it reverts to a light gray square. Any ideas?

Oh, that is baffling, since obviously 5D Mk II is a supported camera, and I even did some tethered shooting with the Mk II yesterday. Have you tried just copying the same files using other software like DPP as Dorin have asked, or even view it in Bridge? I also remember that one incident similar to this, because some files were corrupted for some reason and I was not able to import same files using LR or even just simple copying.  I was able to recover some files  using a data recovery software then added them to my catalog.

  • Problems with OVI Suite (N79)

    Hi,
today I upgraded to the "new" Ovi Suite and since than everythings seems to be much slower
     - Synchonisation with outlook (I couldn't find where to set which sets of outlook-adresses to use )
     -  Download software (took20 min.)
     - connect with the mobile (6 min.)
     - Internet connection when using the mobile as modem (too slow)
Am I the only one with these problems or is it a general thing?
Anyhow: Dear NOKA people, please make this thing faster or provide a way to return to the old PC suite

Hi, I've been using Ovi suite since it came out, without a problem. Try removing everything Nokia or Ovi from computer from add/remove programmes then download and run Nolia PC Cleaner and try re-installing Ovi suite, there may be some conflict if you qver wrote the previous programme.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck

  • IPhoto pictures grayed out

I tried scanning a picture for the first time...I sent it to iPhoto, dragged it onto Library, and--it is fine, but all previous photos in Library and other albums, are now all grayed out. How do I resolve this? Thank you.
    PowerMac12,1 Mac OS X (10.4.3)

That's a bummer. It seems maybe a data file got corrupt.
See if creating a new library will get your images back.
    Close iPhoto
Rename your messed up iPhoto Library to "iPhoto Library_old"
Drag this library to your desktop
Hold down the Option key and launch iPhoto
This is the window you will get
Create a new library or choose a library to open
Choose to create a new library
Once this new empty library is open it is time to import the images from your old library
    Go to File>add to library
Navigate to the old library on your desktop and highlight it in the window, then click the "open" button.
iPhoto will start importing the images from your old library
    This is what to expect:
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
Once all you images have been imported, check through the library and make sure everything looks ok.
You can now start making your Albums, and do your keywords or any other organizational steps.
You can also delete the old library on the desktop.
It is also a good time to backup this new library to CD/DVD by burning the iPhoto LIbrary folder in the Finder, or copying the iPhoto Library folder to an external drive formatted for Macs, or copying the iPhoto LIbrary folder to an iPod.
    Good luck!
    Lori

  • OVI Suite 2.0 steals focus when phone goes out of ...

I know it is usual methond of SW developer to think, that their program is so important that for most of the events, the SW must pop up and take focus from other windows, or at least start to blink. But in OVI suite it is bad, becouse when this happens (phone is taken out of BT range for example), OVI suite main window pops up and starts scrolling contacts, shows last pictures and messages in the screen.
I understand that the UI designer thought that every sensible user will either lock down the PC when leaving it, or at least close the screen. But it is not always the case. I can imagine very embrassing or even "terminal" results to either working career or personal life, when for example last picture taken with the phone pops up into screen when user walks away with phone in the pocket. At least I have taken pictures with my phone that are not meant for everybody that happens to walk by my PC in the office to see without me showing those.
Same goes to contacts. People will have contact names in the phones that are not stored wihtin any conservative reasoning. Gay **bleep** or STUPID_CUSTOMER are pretty bad phrases scrolling in your workstation screen automatically when you walk to get cup of coffee. No, I dont want to judge people by their sexual behaviour or way they treat their colleagues and customers, but think this as an example.
Further more, it shows the last messages. Of course anyone can walk into PC and start looking your files if it is not locked. But this is only SW ever that does it for you without your approval.
Can this behaviour be cancelled by tweaking the registry or something? There is no config option for it.

I am having the exact same concerns. Please fix this! I am thinking of going back to PC Suite if this annoyance continues.

  • Lync 2013 client - part of Office 2013 Pro Plus - unable to edit or remove picture, option is grayed out.

    Hi Team,
Lync 2013 client - part of Office 2013 Pro Plus - unable to edit or remove picture, option is grayed out.
Using Exchange 2010 Server and Lync 2010 Server at the back. To the best of my knowledge, this option is only available when using Exchange 2013 rather than Ex 2010.
Can somebody confirm this as I am not 100% sure about it.
    Appreciate your help. Thanks

    Hi,
The photo precedence in Lync 2013 is high-resolution photo from Exchange 2013 -> Photo from web address -> Active Directory photo. The "Edit or Remove Picture" button is available if you integrate Lync Server 2013 with Exchange 2013.
Since you are Lync server 2010 and Exchange 2010, you can choose the following two options:
The thumbnailPhoto attribute on the user's object in Active Directory Domain Services
A URL configured by the user

How can I move photos from pictures to my external hard drive? I have copied all photos, however it won't allow me to paste the photos.  The paste button is grayed out.

Do you want to copy some pictures to the external drive, or do you want to move your whole iPhoto library? The latter will free up hard drive space on your start up disk; the procedure is explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2506
Note this is not the same as a Time Machine backup.
If on the other hand you want to copy some photos from one drive to another, you can just drag and drop them from one location to another. This is a true copy, the originals will remain intact.
