OVI Suite problems with N97

Hi,
I have received my new N97 and installed the bundled OVI Suite.
All went well and it found and conected to my phone and I played with it for around an hour or so.
I reconnected later in the day and the suite would not start automatically as before or recognise the phone when i searched for connected device.
I have turned my phone on and off and restarted my PC but it still won't recognise the phone.
I seem to remember having this problem with my N95 and a version of PC Suite but that was a couple of years ago and I can't remember the solution (if there was one).
Any help would be much appreciated.

The ovi suite thats supplied with the phone is a bit unreliable.
Try using PC suite instead or the new ovi suite beta.

Yesss, i have found the problem.
The problem was in Latvian localization. There was something that didn't let to start the programm.
What i did:
I changed phone language to English, the phone restarted;
than opened navigation and it started. Accepted the agreement, and everething went OK.
Then i changed back to Latvian language. The phone restarted. and for some time was very slow. I opened the navigation, and navigation started. Went in some menu. Then phone somehow restarted(some bug?) for 2 times, in time when i was in navigation soft.
But then it went OK, and everething worked as well.
Also there are some words in navigation soft that are not translated, and stays in Lithuanian language, but i hope soon they will be fixed
I hope this post will help to some people, and they will save some time, while searching for solution

Because it was on all of my 3 PC's with Vista and Windows 7 I believed it is because of changes on the phone which was working since one month without problems.
It also was regardless if I connected via BlueTooth or USB.
Anyhow, I started to deinstall SW on the phone which I installed last 2 days. but at the end I found the problem somewhere else:
On the day when problem came up I sent via bluetooth from my PC a text file to the phone.
This appeared in the Dialoge/Message listing like an SMS but the suite seem not to be able to handle it.
When I deleted the message on the phone the suite was working well again!
The weired thing was that even if I set the suite not to synchronize anything the error was generated which mean that it still scans some phone parts.
This post should help Nokia to correct the problem and you to avoid it!

C7-00 OVI suite problem with Outlook exchange 200...

   sorry, I closed previous thread by accident, without having a fix.
   OVI suite having problems sychronizing contact, when data are on a exchange server.
   There is also a difference, using USB or BT conection.
Using USB searching for all (contacts, calendar and notes) search for ever.
Using BT my phone can quickly update calendar and notes, but no contacts.
BT and USB have same problems, when selecting Microsoft Outlook 2007 contacts and then
scanning for a folder with data - never finds a folder or end...
Setting up a direct connection to Exchange server is possible for me, but not 1st option.

Ovi suite problem with V 50

Hey all,
I have a nokia 5800 xpress music and I just update the software to V 50 using the ovi suite but I can't sync my phone with the program or to download new themes since then it keeps rolling and saying setting up, I tried to fix this by repairing and uninstalling ovi suite but it didn't work, I searched for an answer and I couldn't find one, so is this a public problem with no solution or what.
I like the new software although it eats the battery but it is cool, so can anyone help

I'm also having the same problem, although with a different phone, I don't think the phone model matters in this case.
Here are the steps I did :
Downloaded the Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 from the Nokia Canada web site. To confirm whether it is the E72 phone or the PC that is the problem, I tried to connect from another computer with Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241 connected to my phone, and from this other computer (a work colleague's computer), it was able to connect just fine.
On my PC, I had Nokia PC Suite installed previously, which I've since removed and then re-installed Ovi Suite several times, and tried Repair of Ovi Suite. Nothing seems to work.
One observation that may be related, I noticed the "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" in my list of programs in Control Panel and removed it, rebooted many times (after uninstall) and after re-install (just to be safe), still no luck. It looks like after re-installing Nokia Ovi Suite, it appeared again in the list.
Any ideas out there? The message "Setting up" is where I'm stuck. I'm wondering if I can try downloading an older version of Ovi Suite, or install a diagnostic program (or tool to cleanup the registry after removal of Ovi Suite)

Several Ovi Suite "problems" with N82 | Need'sum h...

I've got a few questions about my N82 and the new Ovi Suite Beta.
• The first of all, I pressed the "tools>Software Updates", and it said to me that I could download the new Ovi Maps 3.0. When I tried this, after a while the phone said "Cannot install, it is built in" or something. I have the Maps 1 version I think, and I just can't get it to update it!
• Where can I find the "Nokia Applications" on the Ovi, so that I can install .sis files (like games, themes and etc).
• How do I delete music on my phone via the Ovi Suite?
• How do I sync pictures from my phone with Ovi Suite instead of the "Images" folder on my computer?
...these are some questions I have atm now,
but don't get too comfortable with this, cuz' there may be more.
I hope that people are positive, and that they can help me (and the others who're in the same position) with these questions.

As of now Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 as you mentioned is still in BETA stage, it may take a while to graduate from beta labs You can search for n-gage www.n-gage.com/
So you are using Nokia OVI Suite 2.0(NOS 2.0) i guess, if yes, sync your phone's music file with NOS 2.0, once sync is over for a test, delete a song from NOS, it will ask if you want to delete from phone too, if you want you can delete the song, if it goes successfully, you can try to delete the unwanted songs
To sync your phone's pictures with the pc, i recommend you to install Nokia Photos, a pc application, your personal way of managing your digital multimedia diary

Problems with n97 apps connecting to network (Vodafone UK – 3G)
Recently a number of my apps which used to connect automatically to the internet (which ever was available – known wi-fi or 3g) have stopped doing this. They now only connect to one known wi-fi.
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling each app, but this hasn’t solved the problem. I’ve checked for software updates and do not believe any have been applied or are available. All apps have been downloaded via Ovi on the phone. I still am able to access the internet by the web browser which was installed on the phone and via google maps (which also still manages GPS position, search, etc).
The apps which I notice causing a problem are:
Sainsbury’s/nectar
Tesco
Map my tracks
Snaptu
Opera Mini
Any one got any ideas???

I have the same problem since i updated my mac to 10.5.6.
Each time I have to do a diagnostic and retype the WEP password to have the internet connection.

Ovi Suite 2.0 + N97 with latest firmware.... Devic...

Just got phone, installed software cd, when prompted to update software from internet i did and then once it was all installed connected phone no problem, did a firmware update like it asked and now the Ovi Suite no longer recognises the phone, but the Ovi Player and my computer recognise it perfectly fine.

My suggestion to you would be, In control panel, Add or remove programs, select Nokia OVI Suite and then Change/Remove option, you will be get Repair and Uninstall. I would suggest you to repair Nokia OVI Suite and check, if it has resolved your issue, if not, Uninstall Nokia OVI Suite, PC COnnectivity Solution, Nokia Connectivity cable driver, Nokia flashing connectivity cable driver(if any got installed on your PC), Run reliable PC Cleaner, install Nokia OVI Suite from www.nokia.com/ovisuite, Reboot your pc and check

Do the follwing below
FOR WINDOWS XP/VISTA/7
1st: click>START>RUN> type MSCONFIG
2nd: go to STARTUP TAB and click ENABLE ALL then "apply" "ok"
3rd: reboot ur PC
also after PC rebooted, connect first ur phone by using PC SUITE mode, after then wait to phone to be recognize by PC suite (open MY COMPUTER to check it if the phone logo device is there) and also be sure the pc suite is running and everything in task bar with a connection sign glowing GREEN nokia in taskbar
4th: open ut NSU and start the update, your phone should be recognize now, if problem persist uninstall the OVI SUITE and all its components including its folder (so it wont cause conflictions, because i have reason to believe both hidden clients are running

Nokia Ovi Suite problems

I am having several problems with the program that I got on the CD together with my Nokia N97. I am trying to use the program Nokia Ovi Suite, but it's just not working.
Below there is a picture with errors that I get, even while installing and booting the program.
I realise it's in dutch - but I guess the most important ones are the 4th and 5th.
1 = While installing
2,3 = While launching the program
4 = When I connect my phone to my computer (so it does say its connected)
5 = Always. It keeps 'Loading' or 'synchronising' or I don't know what it's called in english.
That little circle keeps running and nothing happens.
I am quite annoyed with this. Because I don't know what the problem is. Also I don't see the problem.. There is a CD, and a computer. It should just work correctly.
Also if needed: I am running WIndows XP - and have the Nokia N97 for the ones that missed it .
If you know something that can help me, please let me know.
I will be looking forward to a reply.

Hi, I cant decipher if its a problem with Windows settings or the program itself since I can understand the language in the picture, could you provide translations? Also could you try to download the ovi installer from the net instead of the one on the CD?

Ovi suite and the N97

Has anyone else encountered problems with Ovi Suite? I installed it on my PC from the disc in the box with my N97 all seemed fine first time I used it to back up then on the second occassion it would not load. So I deleted it from PC and installed it on my laptop. First backup was fine, then today tried to open Ovi Suite to backup phone and check for software updates and it fails to load. Also there is a new version of Nokia Software updater that it tried to download and also failed on installaion.
Just wondered if anyone else was having problems?

i am not sure which version came with your phone but these links will take you either to ovi suite beta 2 update, or nokica pc suite. either one is good i tend to use nokia pc suite more as ovi suite still has some growing pains to go through. you can reinstall ovi or install pc suite and remove the ovi suite if you have any components left on your computers first.

Nokia Ovi Suite problem

When I make some new pictures I can't transfer them to PC with Nokia Ovi.After synchronisation I have message "..0 files successfuly copied to PC".
Ofcourse in Settings>Synchronisation Copy Images,Files,etc. is checked.

I too am facing the same problem. In my case the transfer files check box is greyed out, when i do a sync. I have a feeling that is because my phone (e71) isn't supported by Ovi suite.

Ovi Suite not syncing N97

Ovi Suite will not sync anything on my N97.
it was working fine then the other day after no changes to phone or computer it says it synced 0 files, i have taken photos and received sms's and they are not being synced, anyone got any help they can offer?

1. Whats the difference between Ovi Suite Sync option and the PC sync options that you have in programfiles-?Nokia->PC Sync in terms of functionality?
2. Also the PC Sync in program files is synching my calender, contacts but the Ovi Suite Sync option give me a message box in the end stating Calendar not synced and 0 files transfer, etc. i.e. nothing happens? What is the issue with this?
3. How can I Sync online? What needs to be done?
4. Lastly how can I sync my files and folders? what steps needs to be taken?
Any help would be appreciated!!

N900 PC SUITE / OVI SUITE Problems. Need help.

I am having big issues with conecting my N900 to my PC. Had a long list of troubles uninstalled everything after expeirencing Driver issues on to get Phone parent issues after re install. went through it all again and downloaded latest version of PC Suite 7 from nokia site and it's been installing for 2 hours now and is stuck at 32%.
Really frustrating just upgraded from E75 which worked perfectly with OVI Suite. now i have N900 that i can't back up or update. Non of the solutions i've read on the board have helped, i'm now into day five of uninstalling - re installing and downloading. Doeas anyone have a solid fix for this soon to be thrown out the window N900 ?

Surprise surprise USB Phone Parent (no file located) !!! So disapointed, Somebody at Nokia must be able to offer a Solution. Without PC connectivity the N900 is just a very expesive Brick.
Firstly i live in the poorest contry in Africa so when i paid over 1000 USD for the phone i was annoyed that it had a chrging problem as many people have had i notice from the boards. I go to Europe and take it to a Nokia shop, I am told "no we can't fix it it must be done in the country you bought it". Well thats kinda impossible as Nokia have no facilities in Mozambique, so another 800 USD trip to South Africa to get it repaired.
Secondly Absolutely no assistance from nokia with the PC connectivity issue for either OVI or PC Suite.
I knew the iPhone was the smart choice ! anybody wanna buy a 1000USD Brick OR Help me resolve the PC connectivity issue?

Nokia C3 chat & Ovi Suite problems.

dear Nokia,
my chat function on my Nokia C3 isn't working.
every time I start up my MSN acc. it freezes and stays white.
also i've got problems with the Nokia Ovi Suite, It says that my phone is not in the Ovi Suite position while it is.

For Nokia Ovi Suite:
Go to Control Panel--> Right click and Programs and Features or add/remove programs "Repair" Nokia Ovi Suite.
Go to
Control Panel--> Programs and Features or add/remove programs - > Right click and "Repair" Nokia Connectivity cable driver & PC Connectivity solution.
If it does not help:
Uninstall the following Programs,from Control Panel -> Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs.
Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
Nokia Ovi Suite
PC Connectivity Solution
Later download and install the latest OVi Suite from the Nokia.com/support.
After OVi Suite installation, restart your PC, disconnect your internet from PC and connect your mobile to the PC. This is to prevent the PC searching for a new drivers from internet. OVi suite has all the required drivers for all the nokia phones available in market.
Once all the required drivers are installed automatically, you try connecting the mobile by selecting 'Connect your device' from the bottom left on the OVi suite screen. You should be able to connect your device now.
