Ovi Suite SMS to Contacts and confusion about numb...

Hi,
I'm really confused here...
I have a E72 which I sync with a exchange server (Contacts, calendar and mail).
The sync part seems to work fine.
However, I would also like to sync Notes and have the ability to SMS from my computer. That's where I thought Ovi Suite came into the picture but I'm having some problems:
When sending SMS from Ovi Suite: I enter name of the contact the name appears with a preview of the phone number in the format "070-783XXXX", when I try to send it says invalid format so I need to enter the number manually in the format "070783XXXX" to be able to send the SMS
When I update a contact in Outlook, the contact is updated in phone, but not in Ovi Suite
When I use outlook number formats (specifying country, area code etc) the number appears as "+46 (070) 783XXXX", but then number recognition doesn't seem to work on incoming calls.
What I want to accomplish and wonder if it is at all possible is:
Manage my contacts, calendar and mail in Outlook. Sync through MfE
Reach my contacts from Ovi Suite to be able to send SMS to them
Use Ovi Suite to manage Map files, Music, and other phone files.
Use Ovi Suite to Sync Notes from Outlook.
I'm I on the right track here? Any suggestions for a better way of managing contacts and having the functionality I've described?

  • Swamped and confused about products

    Hi guys,
I am new to Oracle middleware products. After looking at a few articles, I am swamped and confused about those products, WebCenter (WC), Content Server (CS), Universal Content Management (UCM).
    1. WC has a built-in content database, part of Oracle database. CS also stores contents into Oracle database. Then what are differences between two types of content storage? Can I build WebCenter with Content Server as the content storage?
    2. WebCenter provides management functions on content. So does UCM. Users could contribute, review and release contents to web via both. Then what are differences between two types of content management? What more does UMC provide than the built-in content management in WC.
    3. Content Server needs a third-party web server (port:80) to publish its content. WebCenter Suite seems use Oracle HTTP Server (port:7777) to render web pages. Is it possible to integrate those two on one web server? Why is Oracle HTTP Server using a weird port?
    4. JDeveloper has the built-in OC4J container. But how can JDeveloper access or interact with Content Server or WC content database? Site Studio can access Content Server directly but only provides very limited portlet or ajax components. If I want to store web pages, static or dynamic, into WC and/or CS, which tool should I use?
Can anybody help me with them? Or please point me to the right direction. I really appreciate it.
    thanks,
    Chen

Plug it in and use the Transfer Purchases function, either from the resulting dialog box or from the File menu. If you need to authorize the computer, choose it from the Store menu.

  • Ovi Suite crushes during contacts synchronisation ...

    Hi All,
I have a problem with synchronisation between my phone and MS Outlook. After few seconds Ovi Suite crushes with error:
Unhandled exception at 0x5f252c60 in NokiaOviSuite.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x8f38150b.
    Error line (from Visual Studio):
    5F252C60  mov         cl,byte ptr [eax]
    Phone: Nokia 5230
Outlook version: 2010 (the same problem I have noticed for 2007)
    Ovi Suite version: 2.2.0.245
    OS: Windows 7 Professional
    E-mail folders location: C:\Users\rach\mail
    System language: Polish
    Ovi Suite language: English
Any ideas how to solve this issue? Is there any walkaround? How can I report this issue directly to Ovi Suite development team?
    Best regards,
    Rafal

    Hi Galusi,
Thank you for your valuable feedback. Could you please provide more information regarding this issue.
    - System Information ( Help-About Ovi Suite-System information Copy and paste in this post)
    NOS Logs
    Debug Logs
    1) Exit Nokia Ovi Suite
    2) Open the file debug_conf.txt  (File attached)
    3) Save the file in your PC in the installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite) If the file already exist, replace it.
    4) Open Nokia Ovi Suite and do whatever you need to do to reproduce the issue.
    5) Exit Nokia Ovi Suite
    6) Go to your %TEMP% folder
In XP: C:\Documents and settings\your_username\LocalSettings\Temp and In Vista and Windows 7: C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\Temp
but can be found also by entering %TEMP% to the Windows Explorer's address bar
    7) Take a copy of the files called debug_log.txt and DalMeasurementFile2.log
    Crash Dump Files
    In XP:
On application crash, you'll see the dialog asking whether you want to Debug or Close. Don't do either. Closing the dialog destroys the dump file before you have a chance to copy it.
    - Click the "For more information about this error, click here" link in the crash dialog, and copy the "Error signature" contents. The relevant content can be selected with mouse, and copied. Paste the text to the report.
    - Find the minidump file (usually C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\Local Settings\Temp\???.dmp). If there are multiple .dmp files, check the modification time the find the one that was created at the same time the application crashed.
    - Start Task Manager and end process "dwwin.exe". The dump file is locked by this process.
    - The dump file can now be copied and attached.
    In Vista and Windows 7:
    - Expand the "View problem details" in the crash dialog and copy the contents
    - Open Task manager and find NokiaOviSuite.exe from the Processes list
    - Right click over NokiaOviSuite.exe and select Create Dump File.
    - The dump file can now be copied and attached.
For Large files (more than 10MB) you can upload them on Files on Ovi
    1. Log into Ovi.com
    2. Click on files
    3. Type in your username and password
For a user who has not set up files on ovi on his computer, it will give an option to download the file connector.
    4. Click Download and install the file connector.
    5. Then you will find the Sign in to Ovi Files icon in the desktop.
    6. Close the browser and then click on Sign in to Ovi Files icon from desktop.
    7. It will connect to ovi.com again. Login with username and password.

Just bought a Nikon d750 and confused about adobe LR4 and PS6 support for the RAW files. I have DNG 8.7 but wondering if LR and PS will import direct soon Thanks for any advice

Support for the Nikon D750 was introduced in the latest version of LR 5.7 and ACR 8.7 on Novemder 18th 2014.
Further updates to LR 4 were stopped when LR 5 was released on June 9th 2013. No further updates for bug fixes and new camera support.
Nada, LR 4 will never support Nikon D750. The Nikon D750 was introduced into the market in September 2014 some 15 months after further development of LR 4 was discontinued.
You can use the Adobe DNG program (free download for the package) to convert the Nef (raw) files from your Nikon D750 to the Adobe DNG format which will permit you to import those into LR 4. This is the crutch provided by Adobe to allow for the processing of raw files with outdated versions of LR and ACR.
You can also update the ACR plugin for PS CS6 to version 8.7 which can also work with the raw files from the D750. For direct support in Lightroom you will need to upgrade (paid) to version 5.7.

  • E71x, Ovi Suite 3.0.0, and Outlook 2010 Contact Sy...

I was unsure whether to post this here, or in the E-Series Forums - I believe this is primarily an Ovi issue, though.
I've had this e71x for about four months now. In all that time, I still have yet to find a lasting solution to my contact sync problems. It's always been something - device recognition, drivers, software updates... just name it.
When Ovi 3.0. was released, I thought, 'Maybe this update will resolve the problems, finally'. Well, It did - for maybe two syncs. Then we were back to errors. Specifically, error code '8004fd02' (see attachment).
That's what I see every time I try to contact sync. It seems to be a problem with the online Ovi, because every time I sync via the Suite, then check Ovi.com, I have a stack of seemingly duplicated contacts. And I don't mean the same person, listed a couple times, with slightly varying detail labels: I mean the exact same entry, repeated half a dozen times, but only in Ovi.com. The only pattern concerning which ones get duplicated, as far as I can tell, is a recent update. Everywhere else my address book is, by and large, updated accurately, although Ovi and Outlook do seem to occasionally diagree on semantics.
That's about the gist of it, at the moment *crosses fingers*. I just need to straighten that out so I don't have a dozen or more extra contacts to delete online and on my phone each sync. The Suite is consistently recognizing my phone though, so that's progress...

    Outlook 2010 32-bit
    Ovi Suite v. 3.0.0.284
    e71x software v. 03.28
    Thank You.
P.S. I don't need to hear for the umpteenth time about 'unplugging and reattaching the phone', or 'checking for software updates', or 'making sure I have the drivers installed'. I've had plenty of time to check the basics by now -

  • OVI Suite messes up contact when syncing my N8. Wh...

Tried this to confirm these problems:
    1) Deleted all contacts in OVI Suite and on the phone.
    2) Restored the contacts from OVI sync to be sure they are OK
    3) Checked that standard values are set for phone, sms and e-mail
    4) Synced with OVI suite, no contacts updated on phone, all updated in OVI Sync
    5) Did another sync with OVI Suite straight at once.
Now these annoying problems has occured on the phone (and in OVI suite):
    a) Standard settings have been lost for all other than phone. This is annoying becuase the phone will now ask when sending SMS if you want to use the phone number or the e-mail address :-(
    b) Most of the contact have a "Note" added with the text "<< unnamed >>". This is annoying because this not is displayed next to the contacts picture instead of the name or address :-(
So WHY is OVI Suite removing the standard settings for messages?
And WHY is OCI Suite adding the "<< unnamed >>" note for most (but not all) contacts?
(tried to find some logic, but can't find any thing common about the contacts changed)
    Lars-Erik Østerud - http://www.osterud.name/nokia.html

For me even the regular sync gives lot of problems. I can't find the simplest setting of "One way Sync, i.e. only from Mobile to Ovi Suite". And that's what has been creating a problem for me.
Whenever I sync my contacts with Ovi using Ovi Suite many of my updates (which I'd made on the phone since last Sync) are lost.
    This is quite irritating!
@Nokia: Please suggest any solution for this issue.

  • N8 ovi suite connection not working and unable to ...

Hi guys, i bought a brand new n8 today with vodafone australia, and being naturally very excited about it i tried to download some apps from the ovi store. i was prompted to download the ovi store installer, which i accepted, but when it came to installing it onto my phone i was displayed"file corrupted". i went on to ovi suite to try and install it from my pc (vista) and i was unable to update my support software, and then my phone was unable to connect to the ovi suite.
Can someone please help me! this is literally a brand new phone and i have performed no resets, soft or hard, on it.
    Thanks, fletcher

The splitter  coax F-connector may have been installed with a small connector wrench.  Just use a small 11mm or 7/16 in. wrench, or pliers and loosen the connector about 1/2 turn.  Then you can disconnect it with your fingers.  Make sure the cable itself is straight and not putting pressure on the connector.

  • Ovi Suite 2.0 - Tasks and Calendar Sync doesn't wo...

Since updated Nokia Ovi Suite to the final version and tried to Sync my Tasks and Calendar, the new Ovi Suite made a mess in all my tasks entries. It doubled most of them an also tripled some. Tried to clear all my tasks from Outlook and rebuilt them, then cleared all the phone tasks as well and then re-synced again...and guess what a big mess again. What a pain...I had to rebuild all my tasks for the second time and stop using the OVI Suite for syncing.
Had no problems with the beta versions, all worked fine.
It is also a huge inconvenience that you can't see a log of what was synced after a sync session has finished (as you can with Nokia PC Suite) and also no Calendar in Ovi Suite (if I remember correctly it was a Calendar in the first beta version and you were able to see the differences between the phone and the system. Now this option is only available for Photos, Messages, Contacts, Music, Maps -  but not Calendar).
My conclusion is that the new Ovi Suite does looks nice, but the functionality is disappointing.

  • OVI Suite crashed during contacts syncing

When it is syncing contacts, it crashed without any error messages.
    What is going on??
    I'm using Windows 7 64-bit
    OVI Suite Version: 3.0.0.282
    Phone Model: 5800XM
It also failed in syncing photos, it said [Photo not synced]
There was a problem with syncing your Photos. Try restarting your device and computer. If the problem persists, check if there is a new version of Nokia OVI Suite available. If not, try updating your device software.
I have done all of the above and still cant sync.

I too am having a crash when contacts are syncing using Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284 (latest) connecting to an E55.
Edit: After retrying repeatedly, contacts have synced without crashing (without changing the software or the data to be synced).

  • I'm new and confused about "connection" things

I'm new to BlackBerry--I have an 8320 Curve, I'm a small business owner and I'm not connected to a BES. I use the BB Desktop Manager to synchronize with Outlook and to back up my BB and I've done pretty well on most things, but I still have a few things I'm confused about. In this forum, I'll ask my "confusion questions" concerning data options.
I have a "pay as you go" data plan with AT&T, my provider, because there is virtually no cell reception at my home where I also work. (I'm not using my BB for email since I'm in front of my computer most of the time). I have a home network set up and I've incorporated a router that supports wireless. I've connected a netbook to the wireless network and used it to surf the Internet, so, I know my wireless connection works. I've also managed to create a wireless connection on my BB to this network and on the Home screen, it will display my wireless network's name when I'm here at home, so, I know the device is connected to my network.
BUT, I don't think I'm actually using my home wireless network...I tried the other day by browsing the Internet and then AT&T told me I incurred data charges--which I thought I shouldn't have if I wasn't using their network. Either I'm wrong about assuming they won't charge me if I use my network or I have something set up incorrectly on my BB...can anyone provide some guidance?
Next, I don't truly understand what BIS is...I searched through the KB and couldn't find anything that actually defines BIS...could somebody please explain what BIS is?
Finally, can somebody please explain the difference between "mobile network" and "wi-fi"? It seems, if I turn off "mobile network" I have no connection at all, including wi-fi. Is that the way things should be? But, I can turn off wi-fi and still get a connection (if I go outside as far from my house as possible and face south <g>).
Thanks...and now I'm off to the BB Desktop Manager forum to ask a few questions there!

Hi and Welcome to the forums!

BIS is Blackberry Internet Service...a service, hosted by your carrier, that provides a conduit between internet facing email systems (e.g., Yahoo, GMail, etc.) and your BB. Inside of BIS, you create conduits for each of your email providers that you desire to receive OTA email for on your BB. BIS will check your provider on a periodic basis (documented to be every 15 minutes) and only when there is something that needs to come to your BB does it generate any traffic over the carrier network with your BB. BIS is an add-service, only available to those who, from their carrier, contract for The Blackberry Data Plan (as it is usually called) -- a generic data plan is not usually adequate to have access to BIS.

Mobile Network is your carriers network...data and/or voice services provided OTA for your BB. WiFi is wireless networking (802.11a/b/g/n) through your home WAP, hotspots, etc. I don't know if turning off Mobile Networ should or should not affect your ability to continue to use WiFi...I would think they are separate, but I don't have a BB model with WiFi.
I know nothing about the pay-as-you-go programs, but from all you describe, it seems that you may well be using your carrier network at times. You will need to find out (and there are others here who know) how to shut off your carrier network yet leave WiFi running so that you don't incurr the costs of surfing via the carrier network.
    Hope that helps a little!

I have a first or second gen older ipod. i set up an itunes account on my boyfriends computer and purchased 10 songs on it. i put them onto my ipod and then his computer fried. so i have a new computer now and i re set up my account and i was wondering if i could get those songs off my ipod back into my library since i did purchase them?

Plug it in and use the Transfer Purchases function, either from the resulting dialog box or from the File menu. If you need to authorize the computer, choose it from the Store menu.
