Ovi suite stuck on "Setting up"

After the latest upgrade I can't use my Ovi suite at all. I've tried reinstalling, repairing cable drivers, using Nokia's cleaning tool - everything.
With the latest incarnation Ovi recognises the phone being connected over USB and brings me to the home screen where it's showing the phone icon in the bottom left corner and "setting up". It doesn't get any further than that.
Any suggestions?

I have the same problem - I'm afraid that procedure didn't help at all.

  • Nokia Ovi Suite - how to set up oneway sync?

    Hello,
untill now I used Nokia PC Suite to update my calender entries from corporate Outlook into my Nokia phone. It was one way sync, the entries I entered on the pohone were not transfered into the corporate Outlook, because I dont want that.
I have recently bought the new Nokia 700 and was therefore forced to upgrade to Nokia Ovi Suite, I have got version 3.1.1.75. I would like it to be set the same way. To transfer new and modified entries from corporate Outlook to phone, but no transfer the other way.
I havent found that option in Nokia Ovi Suite Synchronization settings. How can it be done? Do I need a newer version?
    Thanks

No, Firefox Sync only works with the Firefox data that is stored in the Profile folder in specific files. Plus the file type that Google uses probably isn't compatible with Firefox Sync and Firefox.

  • E72 software update, ovi suite stuck on preparing ...

I am trying to install a software uodate on my E72 using Ovi Suite. I have not updated before.
My phone is connected to my PC with a USB. I am using Windows XP.
Ovi appears to have identified relevant updates and backed up the data on my phone.
Ovi suite states that it is preparing to install. It has been like this for 4 hours. There is a warning not to disconnect the USB or switch off the phone or the phone may stop working. IWhen I try to close Ovi suite it says it cannot be closed because it is busy. There is no option to cancel the instal.
My only options appear to be to shut down the PC or unplug the cable.
Wish I had not started on this process. Any ideas?

Thanks guys. No I didn't miss anything on the phone and its working normally. I finally bit the bullet and terminated Ovi and all seems normal, except no update of course.
Presumably update via FOTA was not an option, go to Menu > Ctrl. panel > SW update or this instructed you to update via PC?

    Hi Nmarexnoob,
You can try removing the phone from OVi suite application and then re-add it.
Goto OVi Suite -> Tools -> Options -> My Devices
Select your previous entry for your phone and click on Remove this device.
Later exit the OVi application then connect your device and wait for it to get recognised by the Operating system.
Then connect your phone and connect the device once again.
Hope this should resolve your issue.

  • C5-00 No connection with ovi suite possible

Since 4 weeks I attempt to connect my new purchased mobile with ovi suite. I tried every version to connect but without success of chance to get in to ovi suite.  I have Vista SP2 and used last release  ovi suite 3.0.0.290
Each time of several installations and new set up of my PC-system I get the message from ovi suite: No device connected.
Also I used the correct USB-cable 101 and cable driver which has been installed on my PC during installation of ovi suite.  I set up my C5-00 device for connection USB-PC-Suite.
Does every body have a advise what is to do. Never I had such huge problems with a mobile software. I suppose finally there is a software problem within of ovi suit data.
Would highly appreciate to get advises from Nokia support or other members.

  • OVI Suite v2.1.1.1 issue ( Need Help)

The problem is that whenever I put back the messages to my N79 using nokia ovi suite v2.1 or v2.1.1.1 or nokia PC Suite v7.1.40 using drag & drop , the messages are displaying in the last name then first name format, however it should be First name then Last name format as my contacts are already set to first name last name format I had already tried updating phone software done by nokia care centre, hard reset, drag & drop, use different versions of ovi suite but nothing is working. So tell me which software is causing this problem. So plz help me in this problem Is it a firmware problem or Is it a bug in nokia handsets or it's a international standard formatbecause if it's the 3rd case then make a fix for India because here people likes to have first name last name format. • Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 broke Outlook 2010 sync, stuck...

241 worked pretty well, but with 245 I cannot sync with Outlook 2010 at all.
The preparation phase will not complete:
      "Preparing to sync notes..."
"Preparing to sync calendar and tasks..."
    It also cannot be aborted.
When setting up sync, the selection of Outlook folders is very slow (several minutes), but it eventually does allow me to choose a folder. Still, I'm guessing the problem lies with the Outlook interface (MAPI?)
I haven't tried to re-install Ovi yet, but looks like I have to.
    Related info:
    - 245 was an update to 241 (no re-install)
    - Nokia E71

I am not sure this will solve your problem but you can try this once.
    1. Uninstall Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove program if anything is there.
    2. Delete the files from here If anything is there

    3. Please download MSI clean up utility from the below link

Once installed please select the programs related to Nokia and click remove.
    Restart Computer.
Then download and install Windows Installer, so that the installer is upto date.

  • Can I set OVI suite to skip unneeded apps?

    Hello everybody!
Is there any way to set the Ovi Suite to  no longer offer unwanted/unneeded apps?
I have installed "Internet radio", "Scribble" and a few other apps, but I found them useless, so I have uninstalled them from my device, but Ovi Suite keeps offering them as updates, which is outright  annoying...
    Thank you!

There is more info on folders in the manual which can be downloaded from here http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad - there is a section called +Organizing with Folders+ in Chapter 3 Basics. Some people find it easier to do when connected to their computer's iTunes via it's apps tab (if doing it this just remember to click apply when you've finished so as to apply them to the iPad).

  • Problem setting up ovi suite with N86

I've just downloaded the latest v of Ovi suite and installed it on my PC, but when I try to connect my phone (N86) I get a message:
"an error occured while copying file ccdcmb.sys
cannot copy file to destination directory
click retry to retry the operation or click cancel to"
when i click cancel i get a message stating:
"do you want to continue setup without copying the file"
    i haven't.
when i started the setup, i got to teh screen asking whether i wanted to connect via usb, bluetooth etc. or skip. usb was automatically highlighted. at that point i connected my phone via usb before clicking 'next', but from the wording on the following screen i gather that i should have clicked 'next' first and then connected.
    so....
    1) how do i fix the ccdcmb.sys issue please? from other comments on ccdcmb.sys in the forum, am i correct in thinking i need to uninstall everything and start again?
    2) could someone recommend to the guys who write the installation screens that it is made clear to users whether they should connect before clicking 'next' or after
    3) also to the guys who write the screens, please finish the last line of the first error message
as an aside, earlier this month i tried to install an earlier version of ovi. that time the software wouldn't even install on my pc, giving an error code 9508.
my pc is running fully updated xp pro.
    thanks.

An odd thing about the phone is that I actually did run the s/w update at the end of Jan or start of Feb and it reported as successful. So beats me why it now states 'not updated'. I ran this update soon after I got the phone, after I successfully installed a previous v of Ovi. I had to restore my HDD soon after this, which is why I was trying to install Ovi again this week.
    Anyway, any help much appreciated

  • Ovi Suite doesn't recognize my N97's PC Suite sett...

Hi all. Sorry if this is a double post. I tried searching, but didn't find anything.
I've recently tried to transfer music from my PC to my Nokia N97. I did this once before using Ovi Suite with no problems, but now I'm having some serious trouble.
When I plug my phone into a USB port, it asks me the USB mode I want to use, and I select PC Suite, however it then tells me to reconnect my device using PC Suite mode, which I already have done! It doesn't matter how many times I do it, Ovi Suite is adament that my phone is connected in file transfer mode. I've downloaded all the updates, but it hasn't helped.
I can still connect with Bluetooth, but its slow, and if I connect by dragging and dropping (going to My Computer then to my device) then the music doesn't actually show up in my phone.
Can anybody give me some advice on what to do?
    Thanks

If you set Ovi Suite to full screen, does your computer not remember that setting? It should make Ovi Suite fit to screen.

  • Ovi suite doesn't show contact details set to stan...

    Hi,
I am using right now the latest for me available version of Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 but the problem started to appear 2 or 3 updates before already.
I am using Ovi suite on a Vista 32bit german machine.
My mobile is a E71 v400.21.013 connected normally via Bluetooth (but cable shows same problem)
I started to define some contact details (e.g. mobile (home) as default for phoning and sms) and now ovi suite syncs and shows everything but theses defaults. On the mobile the details are still there (luckily).
The messages part of the ovi suite shows for those entries just the numbers and not the contact names anymore.
Can someone tell me how to fix it or at least how to undefine these standards?
    Thanks in advance

Hi issue fixed by pressing "Refresh " in the choose receipt screen .

  • N97 - Ovi Suite Connection Problem - Windows 7

    Hi all.
I have N97, firmware version 20.0.019 (t mobile - **bleep** with the old firmware updates.... )
I am running windoze 7 with all updates etc.
I have the latest version of nokia Ovi Suite and the latest version of Nokia PC Suite.
I am reluctantly trying to get used to using ovi suite instead of PC ever since Nokia's update page seemed to suggest I should be using OVi suite with this phone.
Anyway bluetooth connection is working fine. I can do all syncs with everything on bluetooth.
USB connection is not, when the phone is connected, and I select PC Suite on the phone, the phone and PC then get stuck in a sort of loop where the PC is "installing drivers" and the phone keeps asking me to select PC Suite mode.  Occasionally I get an error message saying I am stuck in file transfer mode.
I have also tried this after going into settings and setting USB connection mode to PC SUITE only, with Don't Ask selected.
This is profoundly frustrating and also renders the ability to update phone software totally useless because you cannot update via bluetooth, only USB connection.
I am getting mighty peeved off with Nokia's ability to get firmware, and software products right.  Come on guys, hire some decent developers, and/or start responding to feedback from customers like me.  (I'd happily beta test any software, I've done it before for an online game......!!!!)
I am considering selling my N97 online, and just buying an unlocked HTC HD2 after over a decade of using Nokia phones.
    help!
    R

Amazing that so many have responded to this post, and not one has come close to the right answer... I've had the same problem for a while, and at first I thought it was just my old XP notebook - which had more than one problem - or the general poor performance we've come to expect from the N97. I couldn't even sync on Ovi. But with my new Windows 7 notebook in hand, I was all excited to finally update the firmware on my phone - which had been stuck on v12 for a while. Imagine my surprise when I still had the same problems with my brand-new notebook. I started browsing around for more help than this thread, and found that Nokia has released a software update program seperate from Ovi Suite. Just google "Nokia Software Updater for Windows 7" or whatever version of windows you have, download & install. You might need to kill three "Nokia..." processes in the Task Manager to let it run, because it seems Ovi suite has these processes starting up with Windows. (Amazing when they program applications to do that without your permission!) Why on earth would Ovi Suite need to run three processes on my machine anyway, if I haven't even started up the program after reboot? But still, this program wouldn't connect to my N97 via USB. I clicked on the icon in the system tray showing the drivers installing after I plugged it in, and found the culprit: The installation of the driver for "MTP USB Device" failed. Googled that, and found that there are a lot of people having problems with that, from cameras to cellphones to mp3 players. Tried a few suggestions I found, and ended up having to uninstall all my (brand new?) USB controllers (under "Device Manager") and deactivate Windows Media Player from "Windows Features", reboot, then re-activate Windows Media Player - something to do with MTP Devices getting their drivers from Windows Media Player. Not sure if it was one or both of these fixes, but then Nokia Software Updater connected to my N97 with no problem. Installed the software update, and now all is good again. Incidentally, after the software update was complete, a whole bunch of different drivers were installed when I connected the USB... the main one changed from "Nokia ... Parent ..." something to "Nokia... Flashing..." something - and Ovi Suite connects fine now as well! Good luck to everyone who had this problem - it's been fun.

  • Ovi suite problem with V 50

    Hey all,
I have a nokia 5800 xpress music and I just update the software to V 50 using the ovi suite but I can't sync my phone with the program or to download new themes since then it keeps rolling and saying setting up, I tried to fix this by repairing and uninstalling ovi suite but it didn't work, I searched for an answer and I couldn't find one, so is this a public problem with no solution or what.
I like the new software although it eats the battery but it is cool, so can anyone help

I'm also having the same problem, although with a different phone, I don't think the phone model matters in this case.
Here are the steps I did :
Downloaded the Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 from the Nokia Canada web site.  To confirm whether it is the E72 phone or the PC that is the problem, I tried to connect from another computer with Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241 connected to my phone, and from this other computer (a work colleague's computer), it was able to connect just fine.
On my PC, I had Nokia PC Suite installed previously, which I've since removed and then re-installed Ovi Suite several times, and tried Repair of Ovi Suite.  Nothing seems to work.
One observation that may be related, I noticed the "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" in my list of programs in Control Panel and removed it, rebooted many times (after uninstall) and after re-install (just to be safe), still no luck.  It looks like after re-installing Nokia Ovi Suite, it appeared again in the list.
Any ideas out there?  The message "Setting up" is where I'm stuck.  I'm wondering if I can try downloading an older version of Ovi Suite, or install a diagnostic program (or tool to cleanup the registry after removal of Ovi Suite)
