Ovi Suite sync issues

My N95 and PC Suite sync'ed perfectly, then came Ovi. What a pain, however I got used to it.
In the last week I have installed the latest bug fix for Ovi Suite. Now my phone will not sync. Ovi suite sees the phone, and I can message etc from my PC keyboard, but Ovi suite just sits inert when asked to sync. It shows in the various boxes "waiting to sync" but just does nothing and frquently hangs.
Any solution?

N86 Ovi Suite Sync Issues

I have N86 8MP s/w rev 2.1.006 and I am trying to sync contacts, calendars podcasts, photos etc using Ovi Suite rev 2.2.123 running on pc with Windows 7.
Ovi has never really worked properly so I have deleted all Nokia programs using Control Panel in W7 on pc and done a fresh install from web site. Ovi recognises the N86 and tries to synch, but every item says ' waiting to be synced'. I have checked all the menu options and they look OK.
I would be grateful of advice.

I beleive I've answered my own question: deleted every Nokia app via Contol Panel, then searched in Windows Explorer for any folders and files with 'Nokia' reference and manually deleted. Then did a new install and it seems to be working - sure to be other issues lurking, but am being +ve!

Ovi Suite - Sync frequency

Hello,
The Ovi Suite synchronizes with the phone only when the bluetooth connection is established. I can have the phone connected to Ovi Suite whole day and at the end of the day when I leave my work, none of that day's changes (either to the device or to the Outlook) will be synced!
This is a huge problem.
It seems that Ovi suite synchronizes with Outlook only at the first connection and then only at disconnect/reconnect of the bluetooth connection.
How can I configure Ovi Suite to sync more often during the day? Ideally, asynchronous sync (after each change) would be best.

X6 and ovi suite sync problem - usb connection

i recently bought an x6 and set up ovi suite etc which all worked fine! yesterday i updated maps and the x6 operating system using ovi which again seemed to work fine. Now however when i connect phone to my pc the pc comes up problem with hardware installation and ovi suite only occassionally recognises phone - even when it does it will not sync music! help please - wish i hadn't updated anything as it all worked fine before !!!!

I have a similarly frustrating sync problem with my X6. It's my second phone too.
I've had Ovi Suite installed on my computer for about 9 months. I had difficulty getting it to sync with my X6 phone at first but after some troubleshooting I got it working reasonably well.
However over the last few months it doesn't initiate the syncing process after I connect my device. I can open Ovi Suite and click the sync buttons but it doesn't do anything.It doesn't freeze or crash either which is strange considering it is not processing the request.
I've tried everything including reinstalling the software and resetting my phone. This worked once and since went back to it's old tricks.
The only thing that works is removing the X6 device in OVI suite, rebooting the PC and adding the device again. This is real pain in the backside as you can imagine doing this each time I want to sync it.
In contrast the previous version - PC Suite - worked well with my old Nokia phone.
Nokia support have provided some guidance after pushing for a reply but you dont get expert or timely help from them.
Come on, we cant be just a few people having these issues? I reckon lots of x6 owners aren't getting full value from these devices.
It's at the stage where I'd not recommend a Nokia x6 or other Nokia phone to anyone wanting the PC connectivity which is one of the major benefits of a phone these days.
Go on Nokia give us some love!

Ovi Suite/N97 Issues with recurring tasks

I have finally managed to get my N97 to work with Ovi Suite (v 2.0.1.35) but am having some very annoying issues when it comes to syncing calendar & tasks (personally I wish I could just sync the calendar and not the tasks...).
I have several recurring tasks in Outlook. They feature in my task list on Outlook as just one task with the recurring symbol next to them. Whenever I sync my N97 for some reason, on both the N97 and Outlook the recurring tasks disappear and are replaced by a years worth of the recurring task. This means that both my N97 & Outlook task lists are suddenly overflowing and impossible to manage.
Has anyone else experienced this & is there a way round this, or a way to simply sync calendar and not tasks??

Just tried editing my previous post and forum wouldn't let me.
Anyhow, I just discovered that Ovi suite didn't mark my tasks as complete - it deleted them. It also deleted quite a large chunk of my completed tasks as well. I have absolutely no idea why it would have done this, but to say it's very frustrating is a massive understatement, I'm now having to rebuild my task list from memory.
Never had any of these issues with PC Suite....
P.S - In my Ovi suite options I have conflict resolution set to Outlook not Device...

Outlook Express and Ovi Suite syncing problems

I just installed the Ovi Suite for my new N5230 phone.
I tested syncing contacts for the first time from Outlook Express to the phone and my account at Ovi.com via Ovi Suite. All went fine.
However, I undertook a major edit of all my Outlook Express contacts data (thankfully backing it up afterwards on my PC) but when I went to use the sync fucntion in Ovi Suite again I was not given an option of (a) whether to merge or replace or (b) where to start sync from if not a merge. Consequently my phone and Ovi.com contacts lists filled up with duplicates through a botched merge. Where a contact was deleted in Outlook Express no Sync Conflict message appeared to ask me if I wanted to delete the same entry in Ovi.
When I deleted all the contacts in Ovi Suite and tried to sync again my Outlook Express contacts list was deleted! Thankful for the backup before I started this waste of a Sunday afternoon.
So basically, is it the case that if I want to use Ovi Suite and Ovi.com for contacts then I have to use Ovi.com as the master list and not my contacts list in Outlook Express on my PC? If the software simply merges data all the time how the heck am I meant to delete a contact from all three storage areas?
Any advice appreciated.

Well for anyones information. Syncing with ovi suite.
I have successfully got ovi suite working.
For those with problems this is what I did. I have vista.
1. I uninstalled all programs from nokia.( ovi suite using the online uninstaller. Pc suite using the installed uninstall program.
then i ran pc suite cleaner.
2. using search for nokia then using advanced search for all nokia folders remaining (important to use advanced search or you will miss some of the folders and files. Then deleted them. Some you may have to change the user permissions to delete them. It is important to delete these as they hold data and i think might be one of the conflicts stopping sync working.
3. Delete any remaining files except bookmarks pics etc.
now there should be nothing on the pc.
Then download and run ccleaner. Cleaner and registry.
Reboot pc
Then download ovi suite.
A wizard might pop up but if not start ovi suite and connect your phone. I turned bluetooth off and used usb.
The phone will download settings. You can select pc suite on the sync settings in the phone. not ovi.com.
the program is good and worth the trouble. It saves your messages and contacts as well as syncing contacts and calendar with your required program, also bookmarks can be saved with firefox and explorer in your phone folder in favourites. It creates the folder. To transfer bookmarks from pc to phone ensure they are in this folder.
This took me a lot of reboots and time with a few calls to nokia and i am still waiting for their callback!!!
It also works fine on my xp computer too.

Where can I find OVI suite synced messages after P...

Hi All,
I have done a message synch some time back in Nokia OVI suite and removed all messages from my Nokia N73.
After that I did format my PC and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7.
How can I get those messages back. Before formatting I have taken backup of windows folders like My Documents where apps save there data generally.
Please help. TIA.

...but since you Formatted the PC all this Synced data is gone...
..because they are saved in c/Users/ <your user name>/application data/local/Nokia..and in sub-folders there-in ..

Why can't OVI Suite sync files?

I have an N97 and use if quite a bit with office files. With PC Suite it automatically synced files in the Briefcase to a directory on the PC. This very useful feature seems to have been removed with OVI suite and I now have to manually copy files backward and forward.
Anyone suggest any alternatives? I'm currently considering going back to PC Suite as it contained more Sync capabilities and basically worked better. It also didn't keep popping up the main application screen on the PC each time I plugged my phone in.

Ovi suite is still very new compared to PC suite.
I use both Ovi and PC suite which allows me to use the best bits of both. They will happily run alongside each other.

Ovi calendars syncing issue

Hi, I started using a new feature to share calendars with friends in Ovi suite, but I encountered one problem. When syncing Ovi calendar with phone, all events from all my friends' calendars will transfer to my phone, which is not good. The phone does not have the ability to switch between multiple calendars, so my events are mixed up with the events of friends. Can I solve this somehow? It would be great to add an option to synchronize just my own (default) calendar.

Should not give any trouble..
I personally never had any problems with any updates till now... Not with OVI suite.. Not with firmware update.. Not with Maps update... touch wood...
so.. its your choice whether to take the risk (as you have encountered problem in the past..) but you can't get better without taking them too...

Ovi Suite Sync

Hi all,
Is there an option to select only photo syncing and not videos? I ripped some movies to the N8 and now OVI suite copies it as well when it sync.

you can rag & drop the message but that will remove message header format i.e. last name comes first & first name will come last & also the message details like the no. of the sender also gets removed from the details only the sender name will be there but this causes a problem when a sender has more then 1 no. so plz check this thing & post the results so that we can help you more on this thing.

Could you please follow this step by step process? 1. Uninstall Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove program if anything is there.
2. Delete the files from here If anything is there
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Nokia\Ovi Suite
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache
3. Please search and download MSI clean up utility from microsoft website
Once installed please select the programs related to Nokia and click remove.
Restart Computer.
Then download from microsoft website and install Windows Installer, so that the installer is upto date.
4. Restart the PC
5. Download and Install latest OviSuite http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite
6. Connect the device and try

Ovi Suite Syncing Messages and Contacts

I have Ovi Suite installed on my desktop and laptop and both computers are not syncing contacts and messages, just keeps saying syncing messages do not disconnect, I've turned off the phone and back on again and sometimes that fixes the problem, turned off and on bluetooth and sometimes would fix the problem also but now whatever I do does not work. Also tried connecting via USB cable. I have also tried repairing, deleting the device on the phone and even gone back to Nokia PC Suite 7 and still nothing, can someone help me out here please?

Why isn't ovi suite syncing the msgs on my memory ...

I have an E5 and everytime i try to sync my phone with my laptop the messages on my memory card dont show. I dont have a problem with the music, pictures and videos that are on my memory card, they sync just fine but none of the messages show. I have many important messages that i need to keep. Can anyone help me please?

Ovi suite only tends to sync properly with contacts in phone memory C, try transferring messages to C and see if it ayncs ok ? Messaging>Options>Settings>Other>Memory in use, change to C Phone memory, and you should be offered the option to move messages. Hope that helps.

OVI Suite / Sync / N8-00

I've got a problem, I'm trying to sync my N8-00 with my laptop and whenever I press Sync - it shows me a msg saying reconnect the device or use blue tooth, settings on my phone are set correctly and I never had any problems with my USB devices, so please is there something special that needs to be done in order to sync N8-00 with OVI Suite ? Or am I just very thick ...

I've got a problem with my N8 when I want to download an App. Everywhere I read in the manuals it says that you need to go via the ovi picture on the phone's 'desktop' and go to the shop.
However everytime I want to do this my phone/ nokia Ovi says that it can't connect with the service, I tried different stuff but nothing seems to help. I'd really like to install WhatsApp on my nokia N8.. Does anybody have advice for me?
