I've got problem with OVI Sync, the content in note (in Calendar) keep repeat it self after sync. Is it a bug in Nokia service?

    Hi,
    I am using OVI Sync tool, to copy/sync my Phone contacts regularly on Outlook Address book.
    There i found the bug in the OVI Sync manager, that if i have changed mobile number of contact "A"in my phone, i do sync using OVI suite on my PC, to update my same Outlook contact "A", the sync tool does not have intelligence to check whether the contact "A" has chnged its Mobile number in the phone, and it is mismatching with the one present in Outlook... (It simply does the sync process..and says no updates foundin the phone) i have marked the sync preference such a way that, "Always copy Nokia phone contents to Outlook"
    Eg. Initially Outlook and Phone are in sync. Contact A - mobile numer - 111 (in outlook and in phone)
          I change mobile number  111 to 000 in phone.
          Now Outlook has 111                                   Phone has 000 for contact A
          I do sync using OVI Tool
          After sync complete, the Outlook contact should get updated to 000. Which is not happening

  • Ovi sync incompatible with N96

    So, I've just spent the past hour or two trying to make head or tail of this.
    I was finally able to create a new Ovi account today so I could start from scratch.
    Step 1: Create Ovi account, confirm mobile number and have sync settings sent to you by SMS
    Step 2: Sync calendar, contacts and notes with the setting "to server only". Your calendar entries, contacts and notes will be sent to the server.
    Step 3: Log in from the web. Your contacts and notes are there but not the calendar events.
    Step 4: Delete a note. Reset the sync profile on your N96 to "both ways" so that the removal of the note is synced to your phone.
    Step 5: Re-do a sync. Instead of removing the note from the phone it is reinstated online...
    Conclusion: Either Ovi sync and the N96 are not compatible, or incorrect settings are being delivered by SMS.

    Not necessarily if your username is available in both Nokia account & Share on Ovi you can obviously create two identical username/password pairs. But you need to register separately to both of them.
    I actually red from another forum (I think it was Symbian freak or guru)that Nokia has plans to merge the user databases. Let's hope for the best..

  • OVI sync doesn't work

    It goes through some kind of 4 stage setup, but then says it's logging in & fails. Not surprising really because I've never had the opportunity to enter my login details. I also want to change the settings to send only as have been burnt before by the on-line sync doubling up on every entry, but am unable to do this. Is there another app I can download to do on-line backup?

    You should be able to, but I've never really gotten around to fixing mine. For some reason if I sync over it lately it doubles all my phone book entries if I use the Ovi Sync app. The settings should be in the Settings>Connectivity>Sync Content if I remember correctly, but I've been feeling a little bit hassled to mind the correct settings for it when I can just use the PC.

  • Help in restoring the contacts which ovi sync mess...

    I had meticulously organized all my contacts and synced them with OVI suite to my N8. Then when i trie to sync using OVI suite to OVI.com suite started crashing repeatedly. Then i tried to sync from my mobile and ended up messing up all my contacts with the old ones already on the server.
    Ok, now what i want is to delete all these messed up contacts and put contacts from either outlook or ovi suite (yes, luckily the contacts in outlook and ovi suite are intact since i synced only with my handset). Can anybody help?

    I have a similar problem with messed up contacts by OVI Sync. Duplicates to all of my contacts where created in my OVI Sync database as well as in my N95 after I was trying to synchronise my N95 with my OVI Sync online database (I don't really understand how that happened, however, the problem is happened there are no settings what to do in case when duplicates are found). Right now, the only correct and actual data (contacts, calendar, notes,...) are in my N8, my N95 and OVI Sync online database are messed up (duplicates). And because there are no synchronisation settings (such us where to take the information from when different information are found) neither in my N8 nor in the OVI Sync online server, I am afraid to proceed with any synchronisation using my N8. Thanks for your help and suggestions in advance.

    One day i was backup my phone contacts using ovi sync . Unfortunatly Today i format my phone due to hang. My all contacts lost but now i remember i backup on ovi sync. after that i logged to ovi.com site . i m happy to saw all contacts are safe on ovi site . Now big problem is that i m trying to restore to phone always shows this msg " Your device is partially configured. Please complete the configuration by synchronizing the device or remove it to add another " 
    Main thing is that my phone already configured with sync settings. Plz give any solution . If ovi.com add option in the site to direct download backup to PC then it will be resolve. 

    - Sign in to contactsui.ovi.com and open link to manage your device. Then select restore your device and confirm (if not already done).
    - On phone side open Menu / Applications / Ovi sync / Synchronise (or  Menu / Applications / Tools / Ovi sync / Synchronise)
    Did it start to sync now? If not remove device from Ovi.com. Then open phone Menu / Apps / Ovi Sync / Options / Unsubscribe Ovi sync and start over with Ovi Sync wizard (Menu / Applications / Ovi sync / Synchronise)
    Alternative option is to send sync settings via SMS to phone by adding new device on Ovi.com / Manage your device. Follow step by step instructions on web. After receiving sms on phone, open it with code given on web and save sync settings (open sms message / options / save). Then on phone open Menu / Applications / Ovi sync / Synchronise.

    Yes.
    An application called Setup Assistant will appear on the new iMac at startup to ask if you if want to setup the iMac from a Time Machine backup. The "new" iMac will look just like the "old" iMac when  you do this.

    I just tried it by doing in that way:
    - Go to "Accounts"
    - Choose your Nokia account.
    - Enable "Schedule" and configure it according your personal need (Peak time intervall, Peak time, Peak days, Off-peak time intervall)
    - For synching with Ovi Sync click on the Sync button in case you want to sync it manually.
    I just tried it and can see an actual timestamp in Ovi Sync for my N9:
    (Unfortunately in German language )

    Hi I want to know if there is a way using Ovi Sync to backup at a given time (example, a week time back) not only to latest backup.
    I've deleted some contacts then an automatic Ovi Sync, I want to backup my contacts to about a week back, but backup option just offer make a backup to latest sync... sadly my contacts remain deleted.

    Not bad for the battery. The iPhone includes a lithium based battery which can be charged at any battery level.

  • App Shortcut Widget - Ovi Sync available, but not ...

    I've set up a SyncML profile for Google Contacts (so I don't have to waste my MfE) account using the Sync app on my N8.
    I want to add an application shortcut of "Sync" (not Ovi Sync) to the shortcut bar.
    When I browse the list of applications, it is nowhere in the list.
    I would be happy with a "main menu" item if that is all we have available. I set one shortcut to "Tools" which shows "Ovi Sync" as a menu item, but not plain old "Sync".
    When I browse the available apps using the Grid Application (from Ovi Store), I can see an Ovi Sync, and a Sync icon. 
    So why can't I select plain old Sync from the apps menu?
    Am I missing something really basic here?

    Hi Spamthroat,
    When you see Shazam in the updates available, it means that you can download this application and install it in your mobile. For this, it is not mandatory to have it installed already.
    If you want to install this application, go ahead and install it by updating. If that fails you can also try installing the same by downloading the same from OVi store too.
    If you dont need to install the application, you can ignore that update

  • Ovi Sync Settings for US N82

    Hi,
    I'm in the US and tried setting up Ovi Sync on my N82 last night, but I have not received the SMS with the Sync settings. I've double checked, and the phone number I've provided is correct.
    Does anyone have the settings so that I can input them manually?

    I am from Malaysia and I own two handphones (one N80 and another N82) with each registered with Malaysia's Maxis and Singapore's Singtel mobile service provider.
    When adding my device to OVI SYNC, I was able to receive the setting SMS to my Singtel N82 phone. However, the Maxis N80 phone is not getting any SMS settings.
    I have tried to access OVI.COM through S60 browser but with no luck, it will only direct me to the WAP site (connected through Wi-fi).
    Feedback from Nokia Ovi Support is that certain mobile service provider, particularly for Malaysia, Maxis is having problem getting the setting SMS from an external foreign service provider. Ovi Support has also told me that their SMS will be sent through a three digit short code (which is quite unusual, normally it is 5 digits), "354" for Malaysian numbers. They have also informed me that the other Malaysian mobile users are not having problem getting the message. OVI Support also suggest that I contact Maxis regarding the issue.
    After numerous calls to explain my problem and introducing the Maxis customers service personal to WHAT IS OVI.COM and OVI SYNC, they agreed to look into it. They have contacted Ask Nokia Malaysia. But guess what? Ask Nokia ask me to downloan OVI PC SUITE to sync my contacts with OVI. LOL!!
    Totally full of **bleep** and a waste of my time dealing with Maxis and Ask Nokia. They must have not heard of OVI.COM and simply dismissed my problem as not installing OVI PC Suite!
    I have written a mail to Ask Nokia Malaysia to clarify my problem and is still awaiting reply. keeping my fingers crossed!

    I updated the firmware of an X6 and it appear a new icon, an Ovi Sync app, that lets you schedule syncs and /or sync every time there is a change in the phone or in the ovi.com database. It is incredible, what Ovi Sync should always be, but my main phone is not the X6 is an N97 and I want that function, is there any place where I can download it, I use Ovi.com as my PIM manager so I really need to get it sync constantly and I don't like to do it the Palm Pilot way (clicking the hot sync) Thanks!

    The PIN code for synchronisation settings is generated randomly every time a message is sent. You will see the code displayed on the page after you confirm your details. Make a note of the PIN code. If you forget the code, you will need to go through the process of adding your device again to get new settings.

  • OVI Sync now available for N85 and N79!

    Atlast, after months of wait, OVI sync now supports N85 and N79 officially!
    Just installed the settings and synced with the servers.
    Although, to switch to OVI sync profile in the sync app on your phone, you might have to change the active sync profile from the Sync Menu.

    Unfortunately I can confirm what others are reporting about the loss of data when attempting to OVI sync the N85 (and other models, it would seem) .
    What happened to me on my N85 was that every attempt to OVI sync eventually fails with a no response from server (according to the phone log). Browsing the phonebook in the phone I see that some seemingly random picked entries have had all numbers removed.
    Strangely, all the entries and numbers have actually been succesfully copied into my OVI account (despite the sync errors). Calendar entried never made it, though.
    So now I'm rather stuck: my OVI backup is now my only good phonebook copy, but I'm too scared of the broken OVI sync feature to try to restore it back to my phone.
    Sorry, Nokia - I think you went public with this OVI sync thing a wee bit too early. It will be an awesome feature when it's ready, though!

    I would like to only sync with my personal contact/calendar with ovi sync contact and calendar.  Is it possible to do that?
