OVS 2.2.1 install on HP ProLiant BL465c G7 Blade

I'm installing OVS on a HP ProLiant DL465c G7 Blade. The installation bombs at the beginning because it doesn't recognize the storage adapter. It prompts me for a driver disk but I need advise on how to do this. The server uses a HP SmartArray P410i Controller. [Would this be the correct driver to use|http://bit.ly/hjAgGZ] (64bit Redhat 5)?
Can I use a USB Thumb drive to install this driver when booting/installing OVS from CDROM? Should I modify the installation source? Any help/advice/prayers would be appreciated!

Nevermind, I figured it out. In case any other noobs (like me) need help in the future - here's what I did:
I created an ext2 formatted 1GB USB stick (single Linux partition).
     1. I downloaded the driver RPM's from HP's website (Use RHEL5 x64 i386 drivers)
     2. I copied the drivers to the USB stick (root directory)
     3. Inserted the USB stick in the server (server powered off)
     4. Booted to the OVS 2.2.1 installation CDROM
     5. The installation automatically loaded the drivers from the USB stick
I should have tried this before posting. I hang my head in shame.

  • Win 8.1 install on HP ProLiant ML10 server

    If i want to install win 8.1 proff on HP ProLiant ML10 server ( xeon 3.1 ghz processor ) so it can work or not ???????
    Please help .....

    Hi,
    For ProLiant ML10, we can get following information in this link:
    http://www.windowsservercatalog.com/item.aspx?idItem=3d94ac2f-058b-25af-7225-f6119e3c25f9&bCatID=1282
    Regarding to install Windows 8.1, please refer to
    System requirement of Windows 8.1, and then check if HP ProLiant ML10 server meets all system requirement of Windows 8.1.
    In addition, I suggest that you can post the question in
    Windows 8.1 forum, or contact with your hardware vendor to confirm this issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • Windows 2008 R2 install fails on ProLiant MicroServer G7 N40L

    The system has 4 x 2.5SATA drives. I have tried RAID10 and RAID1. Used a 500GB partition for the Windows install. Every time the install gets all the way to the end of the initial install after it completes copying the Windows files and it about to reboot when I get:
    Windows could not prepare the computer to boot in the next phase of the installation. To install Windows, restart the installation.
    This has happened 3 separate times all at the same place. What am I missing here? Is there some incompatability issue with Windows 2008 R2? The system has 2GB of RAM. I can't tell what kind of memory it is (ECC, non-ECC, etc.)
    Thanks, Michael

    Alec,
    Some ideas:
    1) Do you have .Net running simultaneously?
    See: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10573_02/relnotes.902/addendum/oem.htm#1007067
    2) Do you have a fixed IP address or DHCP?
    See: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10573_02/relnotes.902/addendum/ipchange.htm#1004903
    3) Did you install the infra & the middle tier in separate ORACLE_HOMEs?

  • [SOLVED] Console screen garbled installing to HP Proliant ML10 server

    Hi,
    We have bought a new HP proliant ML10 for replacing the machine that is being used as the main server of our school and running debian-edu / skolelinux.
    Considering the cutting edge software and etc benefits of arch, I'm planning to setup dual boot the main server with skolelinux for current use and arch alongside. I can experiment with arch in the time when no one uses the server/clients (night time). My plan is to setup arch to server diskless clients and do a migration from debian-edu / skolelinux. This seems ok to me from security standpoint as we used to have all MS win machines with no firewall at all before we migrated everything to linux a few months back.
    Now to the problem,
    While using the latest dual USB arch install media, I do get an initial root console but it is looking diagonal and totally garbled, hard to read.
    here is the lspci output obtained by booting the HP server as diskless from our old debian server

    Suggestions…? Well yes… simply forget about that! Oracle treats OVM server as an appliance - or least they'd like to and sell us the hardware as well. Since they can't do that, they decided to "craft" the system to their likings and omit lots of things one might consider either necessary or nice to have.
    Oralce did intentionally leave out all the gcc stuff and a lot of the other tools as well, to make sure mortals don't mess around with the system. If you want to use OVM then you will have to live with that or risk breaking any part of OVM and rendering your installation unsupported by Oracle.
    Besides, I don't actually see, why one would need to install libvirt/virt-install on a OVM server?

  • Service Pack for Proliant installing successfully but returning failure in OSD task sequence

    Building bare metal servers with SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2 OSD and running into an issue with HPs where they attempt to install the Service Pack for Proliant 2013.02.0.  I am using a package with a program.  Here is the program command line:
    Hpsum.exe /use_latest /allow_non_bundle_components /current_credential /silent
    The application installs successfully but there is a distinct delay and then errors thrown that fails the TS.  Setting 'continue on error' is a work around but not what I want to have in the production environment.  How can I get around this issue?
     This is the same exact package and program that ran perfectly fine in SCCM 2007, but we are seeing this as a new issue since the migration to SCCM 2012.
    I'd like to solve this issue as well as get rid of the "Waiting for job status notification....InstallSoftware"
    Any suggestions?

    Hello Guys!
    HP ProLiant Support Pack / Service Pack uses different Exit Codes, due to that this software support other operating systems than Windows. Therefore HP has standardized to use other Exit Codes, which Windows Detect as failures.
    HPSum Exit Codes:
    ExitCode 1 = "Installation Successful"
    ExitCode 2 = "Installation Successful, but a reboot is required"
    ExitCode 3 = "Installation was canceled, or no components were updated"
    EcitCode 9009 = "Installation did not complete.  Check the path and make sure that the Installation exists at the specified location"
    HP recommends to use following Batch File to workaround this issue for SCCM:
    =======================START_BatchFile=============================
    :Init
      @Echo Off
      Cls
    :Main
      Echo HP Proliant Service Pack Setup

  • OVS on HP DL 380 G5 (1CPU + 5GB RAM + SATA RAID)

    Hi,
    Virtual server is running too slowly on hardware in subj. For example unpacking 2.1 GB database template takes about 12 hours. If anybody had more luck with HP ProLiant hardware for OVS:
    1. Is there any point in installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux drivers from HP Smart Start CD?
    2. If yes, where do I get rpm-build and rpm-devel packages? do those in Oracle Enterprise Linux 5U1 fit for OVS?
    3. Where else should I look for performance improvement options?
    Any advice would be appreciated

  • Proliant U/Wide SCSI Devices

    Hello all,
    When Installing onto a Proliant, and a Prosignia Server, the disks detect in the hardware lists, but ask if they have been powered up, after the console has started on the interactive installation. Should I be using any "switches" to allow the use of the U/Wides.
    P.S. Thankyou for letting us have the best O.S. I think there will be hoards of us migrating from Microsoft now...

  • No disc found when trying to install OS - Blade x6270 M2

    Hi. Did we get answer to this? I have the same issue. No disc found when installing OS onto new X6270 M2 Blade. I see the disc however from the LSI Configuration interface. I don't want to create any raid as I'm planning to use software raid (disksuite). Also, what is the difference between SGX-SAS6-R-REM-Z 2 and SGX-SAS6-REM-Z. I have SGX-SAS6-R-REM-Z installed so I have a feeling I'm required to create a raid device otherwise I won't see the individual disc when booting the server. Correct? Thanks in advance.

    Thank you so much for the documentations. Let me try to figure out how to give you the info. Right now what I'm seeing from the server is different from what's in the doc you sent. First off there is no CTRL-C when I see the LSI banner. THere is CTRL-H and when I press ctrl-H I see a difference interface which show's me one adapter
    bus no. 1
    dev no. 1
    type LSA MegaRAID SAS 9262-8i
    Firmware 2.90.23-0961
    Thanks again!

  • Installing Cloud Control 12c agent on other blades thru RPM and response file sets wrong cluster name

    Hi,
    Hopefully someone can help me with this. We installed em Cloud Control 12c and its agents on miscellaneous machines.
    We first proceeded with two target-nodes part of a Grid Infra cluster (let's call it proclu_1). OS is RH6.
    Then, using the same method (1/ yum -y install /tmp/oracle-agt-12.1.0.3.0-1.0.x86_64.rpm and then
    2/ /etc/init.d/oracle-agt RESPONSE_FILE=/usr/lib/oracle/agent/agent.properties) we installed the agent on 2 other
    blades that are part of another cluster (proclu_2). The agent.properties file above just contained the usual key-value lines:
    OMS_HOST=omsmachine.stuff.be
    OMS_PORT=4889
    AGENT_REGISTRATION_PASSWORD=ametemp
    AGENT_USERNAME=oracle
    AGENT_GROUP=oinstall
    AGENT_PORT=3873
    ORACLE_HOSTNAME=promachine.stuff.be
    Now if I change dir to /usr/lib/oracle/agent and search for the name "proclu*" from there, I find the name of the
    first install (on first cluster proclu_1):
    [oracle@bladb0406 agent]$ pwd
    /usr/lib/oracle
    [oracle@bladb0406 oracle]$ find . -name "proclu_1*"
    ./agent/agent_inst/sysman/emd/state/has/proclu2/cluster/proclu
    ./agent/agent_inst/sysman/emd/state/configstate/cluster/proclu_1
    ./agent/agent_inst/sysman/emd/state/statemgmt/cluster/proclu_1
    ./agent/agent_inst/sysman/log/targets/cluster/proclu_1
    My questions:
    1/ on the first two nodes (blada0204 & blada0406) of our first cluster doing this 'find' returns the
    same directory names with "proclu_1", this is what we expected: where did the oracle-agt script pick up
    our cluster name ?
    2/ why has it set the same -and wrong- "proclu_1" name on our two other nodes (bladb0204 & bladb0406) ??
    (we would've expected "proclu_2"...)
    Is there a way to correct this, or should I reinstall the agent (after configuring/modifying something somewhere
    so that it picks up the correct cluster name...) ??
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Seb

    Unfortunately, this goes back to the RAC install procedures.   Check the cluster name for each cluster.   If they're all installed the same, then you'll need to manually discover/edit name when you promote so that your clusters are unique in EM.
    To verify name set for clusterware installation:
    <CRS_HOME>/bin/cemutlo -n

    Hello!!
    Why are you performing a silent install? Can't you perform a normal one?
    Anyway...something went wrong during installation process since OVMM was not added as a service.
    I'm not an expert but the parameter:
    OVMUpgrade:
    install : Yes
    sounds wierd to me...what's its function??
    If Weblogic, ADF, Java, XE are correctly installed you can try to manually add OVMM service.

  • Server restarts while working

    We are using Novell version 6.5 installed on HP Proliant ML350G5 server configured for RAID 5 since 2005 without any trouble. However recently we are facing problem that server automatically get restarts. Some time restart may occur twice or thrice in a day. Sometime not at all for 4-5 days. We are using In house application developed in Visual Foxpro 9 and using since 2005 without any trouble. Mostly it has been noticed that server restart occurs mostly in the morning session. Morning session most users are attemp to logged to server to start working. One thing is to be notice that there is no dabtabase (.dbf) corruption ocures if server restart.

    Well, first of all we need to know the service pack of that server
    (enter "version" on the console). Next we need to see
    sys:\system\abend.log (only the last entry starting with "Abend 1", but
    in it's entirety, including the module list)

  • Physical Disk

    Hi,
    I am unable view my Physical Disk in my VM Manager console , can any help me solve the problem.
    I am using HP ProLiant BL460c G6 Blade Server

    Hello.. I've tried multiple times too, to get the local disks to be discovered, but having no luck.
    Hardware.. IBM x346 server.. 2 x 73gb drives (mirror)... 4 x 146gb drives (raid 5).
    Install OVM Server 3.0.3 server and it installs to /dev/sba no problem... It trys to install the / to the /dev/sdb, but I remove it and put it back on /dev/sba, so that nothing but Free Space is showing for /dev/sdb.
    After it's all installed/rebooted, etc.. I go to the OVM Mgr (3.0.3 build 240) server and discover the new box.
    It sees the oelvmibm02 server. I'm able to add it to the ibm-pool, and when I discover Physical Disks.. nothing shows.
    I've ensured that iptables is OFF for the vm mgr server.
    I've looked at the multipathd service on VM Svr.. it's running.
    However, when I issue the command multipath -ll
    here is what I get:
    DM multipath kernel driver not loaded
    I've reinstalled OVM Svr 3.0.3 multiple times on this box, with different configuration trying to get it to recognize the 2nd array so I can have a repository, but nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas on what to try next? I'm all open for suggestions.
