OWA breaks after moving mailbox to exch 2010

All my users are on exch 2003. I build a 2010 CAS server, re-directed my webmail.domain.com name space to the new 2010 CAS server. That works fine. The
2010 CAS re-directs exch 2003 OWA to Legacy.domain.com – works great. (EX 2010 windows 2008 R2 and the exchange 2003 is on windows server 2003) CAS server running CAS and HT, separate win 2008 R2 server is mailbox server. My users are using the exch
2010 URL..
But as soon as I MOVE a user’s mailbox from Exch2003 to 2010, the users cannot open OWA. OWA logon just hangs while trying to login. users are able to login to their mapi sessions just fine.
This is happening to all users, regardless of the domain they’re in.
So far I’ve confirmed that permissions on the users accounts are set to inherit.
I’ve added domain users group (domain\domain users) to the local users group – Did not resolve the issue
I’ve confirmed that domain users (in both Domains) have ntfs permissions to the OWA Virtual directory – Still having issues…
What can we try next?
Your help is appreciated!

Everything else on the CAS works fine i.e. Outlook anywhere, autodiscover, mapi, activesync, even OWA all seem to authenticate the user. then as soon as I moved the users mailbox to ex2010, all the above still work except Auth to OWA. The results of

  • Error 500 After Moving Mailbox To Exchange 2010

We moved a mailbox from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 through the Local Move process in EMC. That user can still access their mailbox through Outlook, but no longer through OWA.
An error page appears for after logging into OWA:
Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The number of HTTP requests per minute exceeded the configured limit. Contact the server administrator. (12219)
Other users (moved previously) can access their mailboxes on the same Exchange 2010 server through OWA.
We are using ForeFront TMG 2010 and Exchange 2010 with Basic Authentication.

    Hi,
Glad to know that you have sloved this issue.
    Thanks for your generous sharing.

  • Outlook 2010 SP1 Profile Does Not Update After Moving Mailbox Between Exchange 2010 SP2 Sites

I am working on a large mailbox migration from one AD site to another.
    Exchange version at both sites:Exchange 2010 SP2
    Two Mailbox Servers: MBX01 in site A / MBX02 in site B
(There is a DAG but keeping this simple)
    Two CAS Arrays: CASA.domain.com / CASB.domain.com
The RPCClientAccessServer property is set accordingly.  Where MBX01 is set to CASA.domain.com and MBX02 is set to CASB.domain.com
    Clients:Outlook 2010 SP1
Scenario: I successfully move a mailbox from Site A to Site B.  The Outlook client does not automatically update its server settings to point to the new cas array (CASB.domain.com) and continues to connect to the old CAS server (CASA.domain.com).
I have seen a few articles regarding this pointing to workarounds such as:
    - repairing the outlook profile on the client
    - delete the existing outlook profile
    - run a script to update the prf file (re-cache's email at the client)
I am interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced this, what their solution was for a large migration and if any roll-ups or service packs have possibly fixed this problem.
I would also like to know if you have seen this affect ActiveSync devices.  I am getting mixed results in my tests and thought it may be contributed toward different device types, mobile os versions, etc...
I have posted this to the Exchange 2010 forum as well, just wasn't sure where to start.
    Thanks.

  • Message tracing breaks after moving mailbox to cloud

I have Exchange 2010 set up in Hybrid configuration. I currently have admins that use
https://localexchangeserver/ecp to track mail messages and perform other tasks.  When I move their mailboxes to 365, and try to log on to the above link, I get the error
    access denied:
You have to be signed in to your account to open this page. If you don't have an account on this Microsoft service, please contact your helpdesk.
Using the message tracing in 365 just works on mailboxes that have been migrated to the cloud.  What do I need to do to get this to work to be able to search on-premise.
    Thanks in advance.

Message tracking in Exchange Online (Exchange 2013) will track messages that have gone through the Hub Transport associated to your tenant.  Message tracking on your hybrid coexistence server (Exchange 2010) will track all messages that have gone between
your local and cloud Exchange environments.
Based on what I understand, the message tracking is different between versions, so the EAC in Exchange Online won't be able to access the information in Exchange 2010 or vice versa.  More message tracking info can be found here:

  • OST corrupt when moving Mailbox from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2010

    Anyone come across this?
Moving a mailbox on Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 - the outlook client wont connect, if you remove the OST and allow outlook to recreate it comes good again.
outlook client knows the mailbox has moved as it connects to the new server
    Not happening to every mailbox
    thak=nks

    Hi,
After you move mailbox from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, Outlook should still work.
Is there any error message when these affected users try to connect? If there is, please post here for further analysis.
I saw someone failed to connect to the new Exchange server after they moved mailbox, then they restarted the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service and restarted Outlook, it worked.
If you haven't tried this, you can restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service to check the result.

  • Free space on HD after moving MailBoxes

Hello Exchange experts, I am using exchange 2010.
I have space issues in one of my HardDrives, so I moved some of the mailboxes to a different database.
I also ran a script to remove the mailboxes from the "disconnected mailbox" group.
This was all done on Sunday (3 days ago), and from what I know this space will not show up again but the hard-drive is not supposed to grow because the free space will be used.
So far this is not happening, and my HD keeps shrinking.
I have verified that maintenance is running daily.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    David

I am not using any backup software because the data center where I host the server takes daily images of the computer.
I just need to know what needs to happen for the server to start using the space from the moved mailboxes.
I would do as suggested by Ed - determine what directories are using the space. The directory holding the database in question, in particular. Does it grow from day to day? If nothing else, you could look at the properties of the .edb file of that database,
comparing the size on Day 1 to Day 2, and so forth.
When you say the logs are on a separate HD, is this literally a separate physical drive or simply a different volume on the same HD?
Lastly, I have no idea what technology the datacenter is using, but in general, taking images (snapshots) of an Exchange server is not a supported backup method. You might want to double-check with them about that. What if you needed to restore a single
mailbox? Could you do that without reverting to a previous snapshot?
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

  • After moving mailbox to iCloud, iOS mail not in date order

A few days ago I uploaded a large Hotmail mailbox to a new iCloud one.
I did this by using OSX (Mountain Lion) Mail selecting all mails in the Hotmail folder Inbox and dragging them to my newly created .ME iCloud mailbox.  I repeated this for the Sent mailbox
All worked great.  I now have all my 12,000 emails and attachments in iCloud.  Everything is in the correct order and when I open up iCloud on Safari my mails are correct there too.
When I open up mail on my iPad(3) or my iPhone 4s, the mails are in a bizarre order.  E.g. the first page will show me an email from yesterday, one from a couple of years ago.
If I do a search "Load More Messages" for any particular mail or sender, all the mails pop up in the search.  When I close the search, I get the same bizarre list of non date-ordered emails again.
I tried setting the phone/iPad to Fetch, Push, Manual.. all combinations to no avail.
I just tried a complete iPhone restore.  Same problem.
Next step I was going to delete/re-sign in my iOS account. Bit wary of deleting the iCloud account on the iOS devices at this stage as I'm worried I may delete cloud data as well as my iOS device data.  Maybe this is not the problem anyway.
    Any suggestions welcome!
    Thanks

Lets just call that a glitch.
I repeated the whole process (deleted iCloud mails first) and it works fine now

  • How many system mailboxes should be in exchange 2013 after moving from exchange 2010?

Hi, I am moving mailboxes from exchange 2010 to exchange 2013, I noticed that in exchange 2013, besides discovery search mailbox, there are other 5 system mailboxes.(especially, there are 2 x Microsoft Exchange system mailboxes) Please see the pic attached.
    Does this look right? thanks

Looks perfectly fine - Why MS decided to name two of the five arbitration mailboxes the same (Microsoft Exchange) is unclear but it is what it is :)

  • Exchange active sync cannot connect to server after migration mailbox user from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 coexistence

Hello, everyone, my name is rafl
I have a problem with exchange 2013 active sync.
I have installed exchange 2013 coexistence with legacy exchange 2007, I have to migrate user mailboxes: [email protected] from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013.
but any problem with active sync connection on the mobile device after moving mailbox user. I reconfigure the exchange ActiveSync external connection domain (latest.domain.com) on mobile device replacing legacy exchange ActiveSync external connection domain
    (legacy.domain.com)
the process of moving mailboxes successfully without error.
Access OWA for exchange 2007 and exchange 2013 is running normally
access mail from Outlook running normally
Certificate request has been installed and has no problem with it
The OWA virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
The autodiscover virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
ActiveSync virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
user mailboxes are still on exchange 2007 is not problematic.
only problem with Exchange Active Sync on mobile devices, where I set up an email with android, iphone, windows phone. the error message: cannot connect to the server.
but, if I create a new user and create user mailboxes directly in exchange server 2013, ActiveSync can run without error on mobile device, access through OWA, MsOutlook, Outlook Anywhere also run normally.
only the results of user migration from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 which is troubled with exchange ActiveSync connection.
any ideas for this problem, and what should I check on the exchange server ..?

i have run the activesync test connectivity and get some error :
Testing TCP port 443 on host domain.co.id to ensure it's listening and open.

I have allowed access to port 443 (https) and 80 (http) on the firewall and re-run testconnectivity, but still with the same results. if I enable active sync for users who created directly in Exch 2013 there is no problem with the ActiveSync, just a problem

  • Exch 2010/Outlook 2013 - Accounts limit reached

Trying to connect to mailbox in exchange 2010 with Outlook 2013, got message (translated):
Unable to add another accounts to server Microsoft exchange server.
Maximal allowed number of accounts of server Microsoft exchange server was reached.
If you want to try to configure this account with POP3 or IMAP protocols, click to NEXT button.
Googling for solution but have no luck with translated error message. Anybody have idea? Is there built-in limit to mailboxes in exch 2010 or it is limited by some internal settings? I do not know how I can recognize versions of Exch 2010 but probably
    taken from Action pack.
    L.

    Hi,
To learn more about Exchange 2010 Store Limits:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff477612(v=exchg.141).aspx
    To understand Client Throttling Policies:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd297964(v=exchg.141).aspx
In addition, Outlook 2013 allows up to 10 Exchange accounts to be configured in a single mail profile by default.
You can modify the relevant Group Policy key for Outlook 2013 to change the number of accounts.
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Exchange
    DWORD: MaxNumExchange
     Type: REG_DWORD
    Values: a number between 1 and 9999
To solve your issue, I recommend you to create a profile to check it:
    Close Outlook.
In Control Panel, click or double-click the Mail module.
    Under Profiles, click Show Profile.
    Click Add.
In the New Profile dialog box, type a name for the profile, and then click OK.
If this issue still exists, please let me know.

  • Decommission Exchange 2010 after all mailboxes have been moved to Exchange Online

Currently very confused on what to do.
I'm looking to migrate mailboxes to Exchange online using a Hybrid deployment with Dirsync. The users have multiple email and domain addresses. They are moving away from their SBS 2011 and Exch 2010 server. They have an AD and File and Print server. Once
all mailboxes are moved and mx records are changed and everything is running smootkly. I would like to then decommission SBS and Exch 2010 box and still use DIRsync
    Few questions
Once I remove Exch 2010 what wont I be able to do. Cant find anything specific online
Will I still be able to create a user in AD then login to Exchange online and assign a license then
    the user would have mailbox
Edit a user and add smtp email address.
As I don’t have many users should I rather use PST migration or will I run into the same problems.

Yes, you should move the arbitration mailboxes - they are organizational mailboxes, not mailbox database mailboxes.
Make sure all Exchange resources and operations hosted on this server have been moved to your Exchange 2013 system before you remove Exchange from this server.  If you try to remove Exchange (in either the GUI or the command line) and something is
still using this server, you will be alerted that something is still using the server and will be told what it is.

  • OWA Error after Exchange 2010 Mailbox move to 2013

    Hello,
We have been experiencing an issue when we move a users mailbox from Exchange 2010 on-prem to Exchange 2013 on-prem.  As a domain admin I was able to access the users mailbox via OWA 2010 with out issues.  However, now that they have been
moved over to 2013 I am getting the following error message:
    X-OWA-Error: SDServerErr;Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.AccessDeniedException
    X-OWA-Version: 15.0.995.28
    X-FEServer: CASServer
    X-BEServer: Mailboxserver.domain.com
    Date: 1/29/2015 5:27:38 PM
Full Access permissions appear on the mailbox still via the 2013 ECP console for my account.  I have tried running the
Set-Mailbox UserName -ApplyMandatoryProperties command but receive a message that no settings have been modified.
I have also tried to remove/re-add inheritable permissions on the users AD account to no avail.
I have a large group of mailboxes to move over to 2013 and hoping their is a decent solution out there to prevent this from happening.
Greatly appreciate any feedback on this request.
    Cheers

    Hi,
Please re-add the full access permission for the administrator:
    Get-Exchange Server "servername" | Get-Mailbox | Add-MailboxPermission -User Administrator -AccessRights FullAccess
If Administrator is still located in Exchange 2010 and has the full access permission to an Exchange 2013 mailbox ([email protected]) which is moved from Exchange 2010, please use the following URL to open the mailbox:
    https://Exch13.domain.com/owa/[email protected]/
Then check whether the issue persists.

    Winnie Liang

  • OWA can't be accessed after moving data files to new volume

    SBS 2008  Exchange 2007
Used the Move Files wizard in SBS Console to move Exchange files off of system drive to a storage drive.  Wizard said move was successful.  Opend Exchange management Console and verified path to files under Server/Mailbox.
I get this error and the details when trying to access OWA. Server and user names have been changed to protect the innocent.  :)
Can anyone offer a suggestion or solution?

    Hi Esyxx,
Based on your description, I understand that you move Exchange Server Data to a new volume. And then encounter
issue when access OWA. If anything I misunderstand, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
    à
I get this error and the details when trying to access OWA.
Would you please let me know whether all users encounter the same issue? Or just some specific users? After
    moving, did you
manually mount the mailbox database? If access mailbox via Outlook, will still encounter any issue?
In addition, please run Exchange BPA and
SBS BPA, then fix all that they can find and monitor the result.
By the way, I noticed that you post screenshot here. However, pictures seems to be damaged. Would you please
provide the screenshot again or upload it in
OneDrive, then post link here? Thanks for your understanding.
Regarding to moving Exchange Server Data, please also refer to following article and check if can help you.
    Move the Exchange Server Data
    Hope this helps.
