OWA issue

I have an issue with owa on OSX 10.7. I seem to be missing contacts in my address book. If I adjust the number of users displayed on screen I can bring back of them, but not all. I have read that this is an issue with Lion and Exchange that has not been resolved. This issue is present only on our Mac's and it does not matter who is logged into OWA. I was hoping to get confirmation of this on this forum and maybe pointed toward an article that discusses this. If anybody has any fixes, please feel free to send those as well. Thanks in advance.

Server Configuration...> Client Access...>Right Click on Outlook Web App and click on Properties...>Public Computer File Access...>Enable Direct File Access...Customize...> There are 2 options... Either you click on Allow and remove .pdf from
the list or Add it the extension in block List.
Uncheck "Enable Direct File Access" if you don;t want any of the files to be downloaded from OWA.
Do it for both Public and Private.
Post the update

  • ASA 5505 vpn/OWA issue

I have a client that is running Win2003 Server R2 with Exchange Server 2003. OWA was setup and clients could connect to their exchange mailbox from the internet with no problems.
We recently configured vpn on the ASA 5505 and now no-one can connect to OWA since that time.
    Any thoughts?

Have you been using the ASDM to configure the VPN? In that case, you may have removed the required portforwarding or modified the access-list that allows traffic from the outside.

  • SBS 2011 OK but OWA unavailable

We have migrated from SBS 2003 to SBS 2011 this weekend and are now on page 73 of the migration documentation (we have NOT clicked the last step to 'Complete Migration'). Our users are logging onto the network successfully this morning (about 50),
documents are being directed, Exchange to Outlook working, etc. Overall, very little pain so fa this morning.
Last night, after returning home, I logged into remote successfully. All items work EXCEPT OWA. I install my user name and password in the login screen and then I receive a 'HTTP 500' error with the message 'Can not display Page. Most likely problems are
the page under maintenance, or a programming error'. Once at work I tried the same using the remote address (https://remote.domainname.com) and have the same error. I used on my computer in the network to browse
to OWA (https://servername/owa), same error as above. Thinking it may be a certificate error, I downloaded the certificate installer from \public\downloads and tried to install it on my local computer. The installed
opens to the page where it asks where to install (computer or mobile device), I choose 'Computer' and an error message pops up saying that it can not install the certificate.
Do I need to run the last 'Migration' step before OWA issue will be resolved? Or is there another issue?
    Best Regards,

    Thanks for the reply, Susan.
The certificate is the self signed cert. I have not closed my 'Complete Migration' wizard yet (the last step is all that is left; does it actually do anything or just give you the next instructions on removing the SBS 2003 server?), and was a little afraid
to run the fix my network wizard. Any problem at this point?
If the next step in 'Complete Migration' is just more docs without other maintenance happening behind the scenes, then I will complete that and run fix my network.
    Best Regards, Mark

  • Problem recreate OWA Exchange 2007 (no solution found in these forums before posting)

    Hello,
I am trying to recreate the owa virtual directory, from a powershell (Windows 2008 SP2 + Exchange 2007 SP3)
A error occurs within powershell after writing this: "remove-owavirtualdirectory "owa <default web site>" "
This is the error message: "can't found the object "owa<Default Web Site>" in the domain controller dc1.domain.com"
The directory exists both in the IIS 7 console , in ADSIEdit and when I write in my powershell "get-OwaVirtualDirectory".
    Thanks in advance!
Luis Olías Técnico/Admon Sistemas . Sevilla (España - Spain)

    Hello,
Please check it in ADSIEdit again.
    Configuration-->CN=Services-->CN=Microsoft Exchange-->CN=Your Organization-->CN=Administrative Groups-->CN=Exchange Administrative Groups-->CN=Servers-->CN=Exchange CAS
Server-->CN=Protocols-->CN=HTTP. In the right pane, please check whether the CN=owa (Default Web Site) is
    present.
Please use dcdiag /test:replications command-line tool to check DC replication.
Please use ping command-line tool to check if your exchange server can communicate with DC server.

    TechNet Community Support
I already did so (ADSIEdit) and OWA is there.
Of course, I tried "ping" , I mean, the basic troubleshooting is done.
As for "Please use dcdiag /test:replications command-line tool to check DC replication." , I don't see the use of testing Active directory replications for this OWA issue.
Thanks a lot for your kind reply.

  • OWA App for iOS devices

There isn't a lot of info out there on the OWA app for iOS. I saw a reference where the current version is supposed to work with an on premise Exchange 2013 SP1 deployment but I cannot get it working at all even when going directly to my 2013 CAS server.
Has anyone be able to get this app working with an on premise deployment (no hybrid or O365).
Accessing OWA through the native browser works fine so I don't think it's an OWA issue.

Yeah, that's what's got me.  There's nothing to the app setup.
It goes through and does the autodiscover and asks if I trust the server I'm being directed to with the option of "close" or "no".  Then it comes back with "Couldn't connect to server".  I go through the advanced settings and fill in all the options
there and it still comes back with the same message.  All my Service URL's are working correctly and the testexchangeconnectivity tests all pass.
I get the same thing if I go directly to the CAS server's address or through the external URL.
Sounds like a cert issue. Is there a 3rd party trusted cert applied to IIS on the CAS with the correct Subject name?

  • OWA & Outlook Anywhere problem

    Hi,
For several months I did my migrationfrom  Exchange 2010 to  2013 (CU4)
Currently I work with Exchange Server 2013 and 2007 (in coexistence mode).
Since migrating my Exchange 2010 to 2013, customers who still have mailboxes on Exchange 2007 encounters problems in Outlook anywhere that become non-functional (prior to Exchange 2010 migration to the 2013 Outlook Anywhere works correctly for mailboxes located
on Exchange 2007), and another more serious problem is that some users on my Exchange 2007 when he opened their mailboxes through OWA are randomly in switched to other accounts so that access to other messages which is a very serious breach of security for
    our customers !!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have an idea about these two issues please ? !!!!

    Hi,
Please make sure the External host name for Outlook Anywhere in Exchange 2007 is pointed to Exchange 2013 (mail.domain.com) and choose NTLM for IIS authentication. We can run the following command to check Outlook Anywhere configuration:
    Get-OutlookAnywhere | FL

  • Unable to open office documents

    Hello,
I have a test SharePoint environment (1 SQL and 1 Apps/Web Server).  I am trying to implement Office Web Apps on my farm (by the way, I have it functional on my prod environment with https) using http.  I setup a new server to run OWA, I installed
it and also installed SP1 on it.  I set my farm (Get-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig).AllowOAuthOverHttp to True and SPWOPIZone to use internal-http.
When I try to open/preview a Word document, I get the following error message:
    Any Ideas anybody?

    Hi abdielh,
    What error did you meet?
Whether you met this issue when you opened/viewed others type files, like Excel, PPT.
Please check the log file to find more information about this issue. The path of the log file is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.

  • Yosemite vs Exchange

Customer recently upgraded to Yostemite. Now his mail client doesn't work right. He is connecting to an exchange server. After rebooting the machine, the first time he opens Mail it will update and sync. Then after "a bit," which I'm unsure of how long because he didn't tell me, it will no longer update. Today when I got on the machine his last update was at 10am.
On top of that, when he first boots the machine up, his OWA site is inaccessible. It later becomes accessible, and then goes back to not existing to his machine.
He is one of two macs in his office, with the 2nd one having no issues. I was unable to get access to the 2nd machine to verify settings.
No one else is having any issues. I have full access to the OWA site, and even logged into it on my computer so I know it's not password related.
I've unchecked the automatic settings, but was not able to rebuild his profile as he was mad that I was working the mail app issue and not the OWA issue. He was certain it was a problem with the server.
I'm lost, and I can't find anyone have the exact same issue. I've given basically as much detail as I have, and the customer has gone home for the day and I no longer have access to the computer for this evening.

For a while it seemed like Internet Accounts pane of System Preferences was altering my exchange server public address.  I had to manually change it for several days and each day several times a day.
Ultimately I checked the box for 'Enable this account' and turned off my exchange account, and then turned it back on.  Now my settings have stuck.
What you describe here sounds to me like connectivity issues due to login credentials.  You can also run Connection Doctor to see what that says.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cant open any attachment or downloaded file with any office 365 for small bussines

I cant open any e-mail attachment or downloaded file of any kind with any application in office 365 for small bussines. Since I need it for bussiness need help NOW. Thank you.

    Hi,
Did you get any error message when you tried opening or downloading the attachment?
Are you viewing attachments in Outlook Web App or Outlook desktop client? If you were using OWA when this issue happened, please have a look at this KB article and see if it applies:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2852113
Since this forum focus more on Office desktop client side questions, if it's an OWA issue in Office 365, I'd recommended you post a question in the Office 365 Community forum:

  • Server error while navigating 'Options' link in 'Outlook Web App.'

    Hi,
Step 1: Navigate Web Outlook (say
    https://webmail.t-mobile.com)
step 2: Navigate "Options" link (next to 'Change password'
link) in Outlook Web App. (Browser: ie11, Google Chrome)
    step 3:
You will be broken; your page will give some server error.
    Note:
I am not able to attach screen shoot because of my account is not verify till now :(
    Thanks
    Shardendu Jha

That is not an Outlook issue but an OWA issue.
You'll need to contact the support department or Exchange administrator of this domain and notify them of it as they haven't properly implemented the password change feature for OWA behind a reverse proxy.

  • ACS 5.1 with Outlook Web Access

    Hi Everyone,
I have a weird issue which i am troubleshooting. I just wanted to see if anyone had a different view on this.....
I have an AD User, lets call them work\auser and there password just expired, so next logon to the domain they need to change there password.
They decide while at home to connect to Outlook Web Access, which authenticates to via ACS 5.1 to AD, when they try and connect they are denied with the following message in ACS -
24407 User authentication against Active Directory failed since user is required to change his password
    :                                                        Authentication failed
ACS also says this as resolution -
Check the password expiry under Account options in the properties of an  external database user. If the password is expired and the Enable Change  Password is turned on in the Users and Identity Stores: External  Identity Stores > Active Directory page, then the password will be  changed.
Now, our OWA is not configured to allow password resets, so they must call in to have there password reset, or they can connect via VPN and our ASA allows them to change there password as configured under Identity Stores > Active Directory > Enable Password Change
This VPN password change is successful although OWA still will not work. The only way to fix it is to select passwsord does not expire within AD. Let it replicate, then de-select password does not expire and let it replicate.
This is pointing to a OWA issue in my opinion, although ACS is somehow involved, is it possible that ACS caches authentication, or because OWA does not allow password resets, it keeps responding with user required to change his password?
Any thoughts or different ways to look at this from a troubleshooting perspective would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

The following is the procedure I am familiar with:
    Resetting the Administrator Password
If you are not able to log in to the system due to loss of administrator password, you can use the ACS 5.1 Recovery DVD to reset the administrator password.
    To reset the administrator password:
Step 1 Power up the appliance.
Step 2 Insert the ACS 5.1 Recovery DVD.
    The console displays:
Welcome to Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 Recovery - CSACS 1121
To boot from hard disk press
    Available boot options:
    [1] Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 Installation (Keyboard/Monitor)
[2] Cisco Secure ACS 5.1 Installation (Serial Console)
    [3] Reset Administrator Password (Keyboard/Monitor)
[4] Reset Administrator Password (Serial Console)
    Boot from hard disk
Please enter boot option and press .
    boot:
Step 3 To reset the administrator password, at the system prompt, enter 3 if you are using a keyboard and video monitor, or enter 4 if you are using a serial console port.

  • Issue with OWA (404 error)

    Issue with OWA (404 error)
From the server itself i can use IPv6 https://[fe80::feef:ff56:c498:1f0]/owa - this opens the mailbox.
https://127.0.0.1/owa - this opens the mailbox
https://localhost/owa - this results in 404 - File or directory not found
using https://servername/owa - this results in 404 - file or directory not found
using https://192.168.10.10 - this results in 404 - file or directory not found
is this an issue with IIS bindings?
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
I think you can check the authentication settings in IIS for exchange virtual directories.
    Thanks,

I had this same issue, except I have Symantec mail security not Forefront. It wound up being a line in the adult content filter. For whatever reason, they included "If you received this email" as one of the literal strings. This is probably part
of almost every corporate confidentiality clause I have ever seen!! go figure......
Thanks for the event log hint- since I have the adult content set to delete, I had no good tracking mechanism in Exhange or SMSME. I set email notifications for the future on these.

I had this same problem, but I have ESET Mail Security Server. in some one case the problem y solved if I attach the "user@domain" in the "white
List". But in many case the problem is continuous. I have Exchange 2007 in MS Windows Server 2003.
    Thanks for yours help.

  • Cannot view OWA email - after upgrade to Firefox 5.0, Outlook Web Access displays ASCII characters (garbage) in message body. Same issue with multiple servers.

Email body of HTML or RTF messages are rendered in ASCII characters after upgrading to Firefox 5 when viewing email in MS Outlook Web Access (OWA) light from MS Exchange 2007 servers. Issue is repeatable with two entirely different Exchange systems.
Text email renders OK. Work around is to forward email (in use MS-IE).

You are welcome. I'm glad you got it back up.
    (1) You say you did the symbolic link. I will assume this is set correctly; it's very important that it is.
    (2) I don't know what you mean by "Been feeding the [email protected] for several weeks now, 700 emails each day at least." After the initial training period, SpamAssassin doesn't learn from mail it has already processed correctly. At this point, you only need to teach SpamAssassin when it is wrong. [email protected] should only be getting spam that is being passed as clean. Likewise, [email protected] should only be getting legitimate mail that is being flagged as junk. You are redirecting mail to both [email protected] and [email protected] ... right? SpamAssassin needs both.
    (3) Next, as I said before, you need to implement those "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server." Once you have that done and issue "postfix reload" you can look at your SMTP log in Server Admin and watch as Postfix blocks one piece of junk mail after another. It's kind of cool.

There are other things you can do, and you'll find differing opinions about such things. In general, I think implementing the "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server" and adding the SARE rules will help a lot. Good luck!

  • ActiveSync Issues - Emails remain unread on iPhones after marked as read in OWA/Outlook

    Environment:
    Exchange 2010 SP2 CU4v2
    iPhones with IOS 6.0+
    Background:
We've spent a couple weeks troubleshooting this since the vast majority of our users are not experiencing the email synching issue with their mobile devices. However, we have a few users that are remote (international) saying that activesync is not properly
marking mail as read when initially interacting with it via OWA/Outlook.
The problem isn't regularly reproducable -- it's sporadic.
    There are two issues really:
The mail icon indicates X number of unread messages, however when navigating into the mailbox on the phone, nothing is "unread" -- There is only one mailbox -- there is no confusion about unread mail being in a different account.
Mail marked as read in OWA/Outlook never gets marked as read in the mailbox on the iPhone.
    Steps Taken:
We've had them remove/readd the activesync account on their device, which initially solves the problem only for it to resuface.
We've asked them to change their activesync settings between Push, Fetch, and Manual.
Messages marked as unread always remain unread unless manually opened on the phone. No additional amount of time marks the message as unread unless it is manually opened on the phone.
We've asked users to try interacting with mail through wifi on a reliable network instead of their cellular network. Same results.
We don't have any other mobile devices to compare to since everyone is using an iPhone. If only someone had windows mobile.
Our thoughts are that this is due to some sort of latency issue that activesync is unable to handle, since only these remote users are experiencing the issue. Using in-office wifi the latency between their device and the CAS server is ~250ms. Over cellular
networks.. unknown. I would think the activesync could handle this.
Are there any server-side settings that can be changed on the exchange servers that could mitigate these problems?

Im sure more knowledgeable members will chime in here, but I would say the issue is in ios 6.0 here. The way to test would be if users on previous verison of ios have the same issue. There are various discussions on apples forums regarding ios 6.0 and activesync/
exchange. Myself personally I have not updated to ios 6.0 and im still using 5.1.1 and Ive not had any exchange/activesync issues. Being a windows user you tend to hold off on major updates / SP releases until the rest of the masses have discovered the flaws.
Likewise i cant say im keen to jump to ios 6.0 just yet.
    Good read here :

Out of interest what happens if you read the email/delete it from the phone ? does it show as being read within Microsoft Outlook ?
