OWB 11.1.0.7 patch (6890831), Can we apply to OWB 11.1.0.6 on DB 10.2?

Currently using OWB 11.1.0.6 on Oracle DB 10.2.0.3 hitting lot of Control Center performance issues recently. Recent <strong>OWB Patch 11.1.0.7</strong> (<em>Patch no. 6890831</em>) install documentation doesn't say that we could apply this to 10.2 db. Where as old 11.1.0.6 documentation clearly says on how to install on db 10.2
Please clarify.

For the record, managed to sort this out. The upgrade had moved the emkey.ora file (which the documentation warns can happen) so a broader search located it. I was then able to follow the "emctl status emkey" instructions for reconfiguring it (-force required); start/stop the dbconsole; secure dbconsole; start dbconsole and EM is back online.

I need to know that, can we apply CPU/PSU/Oneoff patches to the OWB Home. Is there any patches like that specifically for OWB.
As I am new bee on OWB please provide your inputs on this.

I get the same issue. I thought that it's a problem in a security - the catalog pane is clear in a union report. But saved filters work in 11g. I migrated catalog from 10g to 11g and I see saved filters in the conditions. But you may add saved filters directly into xml. Go on Tab Advanced and edit Analysis XML. You have to add code like this
<sawx:expr xsi:type="sawx:savedFilter" path="/shared/FOLDER/_filters/FOLDER/FILTER_NAME" name="FILTER_NAME"/> in a right place.

ORA-00600 after patch 6890831 on Windows Vista

I've just applied patch 6890831 and now the database fails to open. I'm using Oracle 11.1.0.6 on Windows Vista.
It's installed on my laptop, having 2.5gz Dual and 4gb RAM

Hi..
As you have applied patch, did you try to open the database as
sql> startup upgrade.
There musy be some files that needs to be run.
Better read the README.HTML of the patch and follow the steps.
If eveythig is done correctly and then also ORA-600 persist better raise SR to Oracle Support.

OWB 10.2.0.4 patch application failed and seek advice.

I have read some posts in this forum and tried to solve my problem with OWB 10.2.0.4 patch application. My basic situation is: OWB 10.2.0.3 was installed by someone before. Now developer only can get OWB 10.2.0.4 client. It can not access into existing OWB 10.2.0.3 repository because the version is not matched. I have to apply OWB patch 10.2.0.4 to OWB server. Installing patch is OK. After that, I need to create a test repository to upgrade OWB 10.2.0.3 repository to 10.2.0.4. When I tried to do so. I failed to either a new test repository or even accessed into existing repository. I got different errors as INS0009, ORA-01017 and LRM-00109 with the message as 'unable to connect to database with user SYS, invdlid username/password' Then I followed advices from another thread. Done these steps:
1. SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION SERVICES=(NTS)
2. INIT.ORA, remote_login_passwordfile=exclusive.
3. shutdown database
4. recreate password by using orapwd.
5. startup database and connect as: sys/new_sys_password as sysdba, I connected.
6. select * from v$pwfile_users; I got ' no rows selected'
7. I guess the sys might not have sysdba privilege, Grant SYSDBA to sys; I was feedbacked with ' password file missing or disabled'
I haven't used OWB before and don't know where is the problem that I cannot create a new test repository or access current repository. The password file has been recreated and verified. Why login process failed. By the way, I still use OWB client 10.2.0.3 on my desktop (old) and I have no problem to access into exisiting repository. Please help me to figure out the problem and upgrade my OWB server. Thanks in advance.

You don't answer to my question (about name of password file), maybe your problem is caused by incorrect filename.
Also please show instance name with select from v$instance:
select instance_name from v$instance;

In Windows Explorer open directory ORACLE_HOME\database, rightclick on password file and select Properties from menu.
Select Security tab and select (in Groups ans users list) the user under which Oracle instance service is executed (by default it is user SYSTEM),
in the bottom list (Permissions for ...) check granted rights.

How can I execute a OWB ProcessFlow without OEM?

I have created the "process flow" in the OWB,and I want execute it in my applicaton,not through OEM,how can I do it?

In order to use OWF without OEM, you can start the script owb/rtp/sql/oem_exec_template.sql in a sql session.
(Do the same as needed in OEM):
The mandatory parameters for the script are as follows:
- Runtime Repository Owner
- Target location
- Target Type: either one of the PL/SQL, SQL_LOADER, or PROCESS.
- Task name (name of the mapping/or process flow)
- System parameters (comma separated, enclosed by double quotes; comma and \ can be escaped by \)
- Custom parameters (see system parameters)
Example :
@oem_exec_template.sql MY_RUNTIME MY_WORKFLOW PROCESS MY_PROCESS "," ","

OWB 10.1.0.3 patch released

OWB 10g patch 10.1.0.3 for Windows is now available. This patch is to be applied on top of OWB 10g (10.1.0.2). 73 bugs are fixed in this patch. The details are in the README included with the patch.

We are running XP clients with AIX database. Previously we were unable to apply the Windows patch because it would have put our back end out of sync with the front end, so to speak.
Now that 10.1.0.3 is available for XP and AIX is it worth applying this and has anyone tried to apply the Windows and UNIX versions together?

Can we apply note AFTER patch has been applied?

We have installed a patch set into DEV which is being tested. This patch set contains a note which we need urgently in QA.
Are there any issues with applying the note individually? It will need to go into DEV first - although it's already there - & then be applied to QA as a transport.
We can only apply the patch set to QA when the full testing has been done.

I think our problem is that we're quite a long way behind on our patches. Which means that the note we need to apply has many dependencies - all of which I'd need to get into any transport we created on DEV. I could do this but I'm worried I'm likely to miss something.
So we're considering opening up QA & applying the note in there (using SNOTE). It may be a stupid question but how do we open up QA? We assumed it was a change to be made in SCC4 but this is client specific & we have 5 clients on our QA machine (as well as 000 etc).

How do I determine if a patch can be applied hot or not?

Hi,
I know that some patches like the financials help patch can be applied hot, ie not only while the apps instance is completely up, but while people are working etc. I would be using the -hotpatch option to avoid maintenenance mode, AND doing this during the day while every is logged in and working.
I do I know what patches are available to put in this way? For example we need to apply a small patch 9056607. Do I need to ask support each time?
Is there a way to determine this?

That's too bad -- that its on a case-by-case basis. I wish Oracle would mark patches as able to be applied hot or not.

Can we continue this discussion, so that I can gage this better in the future? In general, what actions would I want to see or not see in the *.drv?
For me, at least right now, I would consider it safe for -hotpath if there is only simple copying, without any sql. Would you agree or are there other things that are do-able?
I looked at the driver file for this particular patch. It looks to me like there are indeed too many other things happening in addition to copy:

Hi,
You just need to download all the patch parts in one directory and extract it there. You should have one directory which contains all the patch files in one place (as any other patch).
Make sure you follow all the steps in the following note when applying this patch.
