OWB 11.2.0.4 on Windows 7

According to My Oracle Support doc id 340955.1, OWB 11.2.0.4 standalone client is available on Windows 64-bit. According to MOS doc id 1073079.1 only OWB client 11.2.0.3 is certified on Windows 7 64-bit platform. I'd like to know if OWB client 11.2.0.4 certified on Windows 7. Does anybody know?

Hi Mary ,
I assume the first 2 question is about RDBMS so I am not attempting answer those question .
3. install owb 11g on this server;
Ans : Not required as OWB 11g is a part of Oracle11g database .
All you have to do is unlock OWBSYS account and create repository . Those steps are well documented in the product documentations , have a look into it .
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/owb.111/b31280/reqs01.htm#BABICFEG
4. using client 9.2 export dml objects from instance 9.2 and using client 11g import to 11g owb instance;
Ans : Yes that can be done .
Thanks,
Sutirtha

  • Succesfully installed and setup an OWB 10.1.0.4 & Ora10gR2 & Windows 2003?

    Hi,
I want to know if anyone has been successful in:
    installing
    configuring and
having a complete and working development environment using:
    Windows 2003 AS SP1
    Ora10gR2
    OWB 10.1.0.4
    Workflow 2.6.3
We tried several times, and after designing our first map we got error ''RPE-01011'' WHEN DEPLOYING A MAP IN OWB 10.1.0.4 RPE-01011
I found several entries reporting the same error, but all the solutions listed didn't work on our environment.
    Any help is appreciate
    Thanks
    Silvio

We had a similar issue and opened a TAR, but no luck from oracle. We figured out that the install looks at 64 bit LD library, but actually uses the 32 bit. After setting this up in the runtime_service.sh script, the deployment went through and we are good to go.

  • Connect Oracle 10g and OWB to SQL Server 2005 in Windows XP

I am unable to create a working connection between Oracle 10g and a SQL Server database. I have followed the instructions in several sources, but when I attempt to connect to the MSSQL database through SQL Plus or SQL Developer, I get the ORA-03135 error. I set up a non-Oracle location in OWB and the connection test was successful but the metadata would not import. Creating an Oracle location with the same parameters produced the ORA-03135 error.
In TNSNAMES.ORA I placed the following definition:
    MSSQL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = wgilt1.hsd1.nj.comcast.net)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = MSSQL)
         (HS = OK)
In LISTENER.ORA I placed the following in the SID_LIST_LISTENER:
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = MSSQL)
    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_2)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
The inimssql.ora file contains the following:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = MSSQL
    HS_DB_NAME = MSSQL
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = ON
    HS_FDS_TRACE_FILE_NAME = c:\hs_fds_mssql.log
    What is missing?

could be a copy paste issue, but please make sure the tnsnames.ora has at least on space in from of each line after the alias.
In addition what is the listener status? Please post the output of lsnrctl status <listener name>.
Need to know also the output of: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_2\bin\hsodbc

  • File System Location properties: view path (OWB 11..2.0.1 Windows)

    Newbee question:
From the tutorial "Handling Flat File and COBOL Copybook Sources in Mappings", I imported the metadata for ETL_OWNER. It contains file locations such as SRC_FLAT_FILES_LOCATION but I cannot find any way to view its path in the file system. I created my own file locations where I can specify a path in the Create File System Location wizard, but afterwards, I can neither inspect nor change the path.
    Thanks for help
    Sebastian

Thank's for help, I am simply not used to the user interface. The Connections Explorer seems to have disappeared in 11gR2 but the Locations node still exists, listing all file locations. However, the property inspector does not display the file's path, somewhat counterintuitively. Double-klicking the file location opens the Edit window containing the path.

Then, I´m thinking in install Oracle Data Integrator to solution it, but i`ve read that neither can install on 64 bits system... This is true?
Somebdoy knows how can I install OWB 11g / ODI 11g in a Windows 2008 Server 64 bits?
    Thanks & Regards!

OWB 11G Will have been installed with the database, it now ships with 11G.

  • Problems with OMB+ (OWB 10.2.0.2 Windows client) - ORACLE_HOME env variable

    Hi.
I am trying to use the OWB_DEMO files found on the website. The OWB client is installed on a Windows XP SP3 laptop; when I try to use the OMBINSTALL OWB_TARGET_USER, I'm getting this error:
ORACLE_HOME(or OWBCC_HOME for Clearcase) environment variable is not set up yet. Please set up first.
I can't understand why I'm getting this error, because in the batch file setowbenv.bat, called by the OMBPlus.bat, all the env variables are correctly set and then passed to the JVM through the -D option.
Could anyone help me to understand where is the problem, please?
    Thanks.

This is bug 5853639, it is fixed in 10.2.0.3
As a workaround enter "set OWBCC_HOME=<YOUR OWB HOME>" in setowbenv.bat.

  • OWB R2 for 64 bit Windows (AMD/Intel)

    Hi,
We were unable to find the owb R2 version for 64 bit windows AMD/Intel in the downloads page at oracle.
We then found out that we need to use the owb R1 (10.1.0.4) 64 bit version and then apply some patches.
We downloaded the zip file p4703215_10104_WINNT64.zip from the oracle site.
But unzipping this file gives the error below
"The image file C:\DOCUM~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Direcotry 3 for p4703215_10104_WINNT64.zip \Disk1\setup.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine."
Has anyone faced this problem before? Our machine is a 64 bit machine and when we try installing this on a 32 bit machine we get a message saying "this is not for a 32 bit machine"
Any help or pointers in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    AM

yes we are using windows 64 bit.
We have found out from oracle that the R2 windows is compatible for bot 32 and 64. So there is no specific one for R2.
    Thanks.

  • OWB Client throws a DOS window when started

I installed Oracle Warehouse Builder 9i for Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and after installing configured the repository assistant, and a runtime assistant. I did not configure a OWB Browser as it asked for a Oracle Portal. Now when I start OWB Client, it first opens another window which is like a DOS window listing OWB environment variables, and the window comes with a Title "Select Oracle Warehouse Builder Client". Why is the window appearing?, I can simply close it, but what causes it to appear. I have a feeling I missed the Project>Preferences>Utilities. Does anyone concur with me.
    Thanks.
    Steve

Reinstalled it, and it works fine, no DOS window anymore. Dont know why the problem was there in the first place.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle Warehouse Builder 10.1.0.4 on Windows 2008 - 64 bits

    Hi Gurus.
I'm currently working with a customer who wants to migrate all their database-servers to Windows 2008 on 64-bits processors. They're using Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) and Oracle Warehouse Builder (10.1.0.4). The OWB-clients will still run on Windows XP. I've used the "Certify"-funcionality on Metalink, but it doesn't really answer my questions. (It does* ansver some of my questions, but it also raises a few new ones....)
My main question is: Can you run serverside OWB 10.1.0.4 on Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4 for Windows 2008 64-bits?
    Thanks in advance:-)
    Best regards
    Helge

    No.
Oracle Warehouse Builder version 10.1.x was desupported on 16-JUL-2007.
The desupport notice is available on Metalink (Note 376384.1).
The Warehouse Builder installation as part of the 11.1.0.7 installation should be certified, but I cannot find specifics.

  • OWB 10g -- Can't Create Database Links for Data Source and Target

We installed OWB 10g server components on a Unix box running Oracle 10g (R2) database. The Designer Repository is in one instance. The Runtime Repository and the Target are in another instance. The OWB client component was installed on Windows XP. We create a data source module and a target module in OWB. The data source is on another Unix box running Oracle 9i (R2) database. We try to create database links for data source module and target module, respective. But when we created and tested the DB links, the DB links were failed.
For the database link of data source, we got the following error message:
    Testing...
    Failed.
    SQL Exception
    Repository Error:SQL Exception..
    Class Name: CacheMediator.
    Method Name: getDDEntryFromDB.
Repository Error Message: ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred
For the database link of target , we got the following error message:
    Testing...
    Failed.
API2215: Cannot create database link. Please contact Oracle Support with the stack trace and the details on how to reproduce it.
    Repository Error:SQL Exception..
    Class Name: oracle.wh.ui.integrator.common.RepositoryUtils.
Method Name: createDBLink(String, String, String, String).
    Method Name: -1.
Repository Error Message: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended.
However, we could connect to the two databases (data source and target) using the OWB’s utility SQL Plus.
Please help us to solve this problem. Thank you.

As I said prior the database link creation should work from within the OWB client (also in 10).
Regarding your issue when deploying, have you registered your target locations in the deployment manager and did you first deployed your target location's connector which points out to your source?
I myself had some problems with database link creations in the past and I can't remember exactly what they were but it had something to do with
    - the use of abnormal characters in the database link name
    - long domain name used in as names.default_domain in my sqlnet.ora file
What you can do is check the actual script created when deploying the database link so see if there's something strange and check if executing the created script manually works or not.

  • Debug owb 11gR1

    Hi everybody,
I have a mapping that validates and deploys fine. During debug, I get the following error:
    DEBUG INPUT ROW: 15

I googled and checked many Blogs but all have solutions for version 10g or 11gR2
where it shows the line and column number where the error is, but can any one please tell me how to find in 11gR1 at what line and column the error is occuring or please can any one give me a solution or where to look for this error?
can i see code in debug?
    thanks

See thread below..., the Windows 32 it and 64 bit database 11gR2 versions are now out which include OWB.

  • OWB-SQLSERVER connectivity - critical

    Guys,
I have few doubts... Please clarify.
    The details are -
    Scenarion 1:
OWB server & Oracle serever - machine 1 (windows)
Sql server - machine 2 (windows)
I am able create a DB link thru OWB.... I can import SQL tables into OWB.
    This is working fine.
    Scenario 2:
    1) Sqlserver is on windows (always)
    2) Our Oracle is on Unix
    3) Our OWB is on Unix.
    Questions:
    a) I am not sure how easy it is to add odbc to OWB in Unix. Is it available in the original installation distribution media on Unix?
    b) Don't we need a listener running on each Sqlserver database server, so sqlnet knows to talk to other environments (sqlserver)?
    c) In OWB if we want create one source module for other database, ODBC driver is required?? In unix we cannot find any ODBC driver by default.
Separately we need to insatll it.
From what I have read, it seems for Oracle to talk to Windows sqlserver, that a listener needs to be running on windows, which means that Oracle sqlnet client tools is not enough. (We have 10.2 installed on a few machines, but I don't see that you can start a listener, so I expect we will need to
install and support running Oracle server software no database), on the same server that is running sqlserver.
    Please clarify the above questions.
Also i am planing to set up a connection between Oracle - SQL thru OWB. Please find the below steps and let me know if am wrong -
    1) Sqlserver is on windows (always)
    2) Our Oracle is on Unix
    3) Our OWB is on Unix.
    a. Create a DSN in windows where Sql serevr installed.
    b. Modify initSID.ora file(HS folder) in Unix.
    c. Modify listener.ora file in Unix where oracle installed
    d. Modify tns.ora.
Now in the above steps i have few doubts...
    1) How the listener will pick the DSN of windows... Do we need to specify host to sql server ip (machine)???
    2) For this any ODBC is required in Unix??
    3) Do we need to install listener in windows where sqlserver installed & point host name of tns.ora(unix) to this ip(sql server).
    clarify the above steps...
    Thanks in advance.
    Harsha

    Hey thanks man...
    It helped a lot....
But u know one thing i followed the same method in windows...
    Details are:
machine1: Oracle & OWB (on windows)
machine2: SQL server ( on windows)
I am creating source module in OWB for non oracle database and giving host name as machine2 ip.
here the tns name on machine 1 is no need to change and i am directly connecting to machin2 and able to import SQL tables..
So here my question is how it is able to connect to machine 2 without changing anything in tnsname.ora file on machine1.
So can i follow this method in unix, like no need to touch anything in UNIX not even tns file.
    Thanks
    Harsha

  • OWB connection to teradata through ODBC driver

    Hi:
I am seeking answers to my OWB connection settings. I have installed OWB 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2003 server. The Oracle 10g database is on the same server. Right now, I want to configure ODBC connection for OWB to source database (all on teradata) on my windows 2003 server. However, I found from control panel
/Adminstrative tool/Data source (ODBC), there is no teradata driver in ODBC administrator. (It is available on windows XP). How can I solve this problem?
OWB perform ETL workflow through OWB server and source database. The connection between OWB server and source database must be set up. If no teradata ODBC driver, is there any other way to work around. Or should I update windows 2003 server to patch teradata ODBC driver to it? Please give me your idea and your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    look at this thread

What is the problem with installing Teradata ODBC driver to your Windows2003 server?
