OWB 9.2 on AIX

Hi,
when will OWB 9.2 on AIX be available / downloadable ? Is September still true ?
Regards, Bernhard

Phil and all,
We have continuously stressed the importance of the OWB AIX port to the porting team. Unfortunately it is not our direct development team that does the porting. The porting team has told us that the 10g beta 2 release goes first; OWB is next. For whatever reason there has been a delay and we also bang our heads against the wall.
Unfortunately the only 'real' option you have to target AIX is to temporarily use the OWB904 release and use patch 2864550 or 2864560 (depending on the database release) for the server-side installation. Luckily to migrate from OWB904 to OWB92 is relatively little effort.
Thank you for your patience.
Mark.

  • OWB 9.2 for AIX release date

    Hello,
I was told by an Oracle representative that Warehouse Builder 9.2 for AIX would ship on december 15th. Apparently it is not yet available for download from OTN.
When can we expect OWB 9.2 for AIX to be available for download?
    Regards,
    Janus Christensen, System Developer
    The Confederation of Danish Industries

OWB Development team received the OWB 9.2 AIX port from the porting team late last night. We're in the process of loading onto OTN's download page and should be available by tomorrow at the latest. I'll update the forum when it's available for download.

  • OWB 9.2 for AIX ?

When can we get an actual/realistic date when OWB 9.2 will be available for AIX platform? The dates for OWB 9.2 for AIX have continually slipped Aug 2003, Sep 2003, start Nov 2003, end Nov 2003. Another date has slipped, can Oracle give us a realistic date when OWB 9.2 for AIX will be available? (looks like it may be sometime in 2004!!)

The latest from the porting team is that the port would be ready around December 10th. So we seem to be making it before 2004...
But seriously, we are well aware this causes headaches for our customers and we are pushing hard to get these ports done asap.
    Thanks,
    Jean-Pierre

  • OWB Installation problem on AIX 5.2

    Hi,
We are trying to install OWB 9.2.0.2.8 on IBM AIX 5.2 using the download version from OTN. Following installation instructions, we have removed all references to existing ORACLE_HOME in the environment variables: CLASSPATH, PATH, LIBPATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
When we try to run installer from owb92aix/Disk1/runInstaller
following error message appears: Can't find libjvm.a
    and the installation aborts.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Aravind

Yes, we do have the java virtual machine installed in /usr/java131/jre/bin and it is referenced in PATH variable.
When we extracted the downloaded tar file for AIX, the file libjvm.a exists in the extracted directory. We do not know why the installer is unable to find it.
    Thanks,
    Aravind

    1. Install OWB in a new home
    2. You must create a repository before you can start the Control Center Service
    3. I'm not sure, but I think you can use your local OWB
    Hope this helps

  • OWB Windows vs. AIX

    Hi,
On Oracle OWB download page, we have OWB for Windows, and OWB for AIX. If I want to install OWB client on Windows and repository (Oracle DB) on AIX, do I need to download both version? What's the difference between these two versions?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
you need to do both installation:
OWB Software on AIX-Server and OWB Client on Windows.
Then from Windows Client, start the Repository assistant (Start-->Programms--> Warehouse Builder --> Administration --> Repository assistant) for Konfiguration
Please refer to the Installation and Administration Guide
10g Release 2 (10.2.0.2) for Windows and UNIX
    B28224-03
    December 2006
    Best regards,

OWB[u] 9.2 on AIX is available for download on OTN:
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/warehouse/index.html
    Instructions:
Here are the instructions to un-tar and install from the owb92aix.tar file
    - transfer owb92aix.tar to the machine where the install is to take
    place
    - put it into an empty directory w/ at least 2G disk space
    - un-tar from it using "tar xf owb92aix.tar"
    - cd into the owb92aix directory
    - cd into the Disk1 directory
    - the contents of this directory is exactly what CD #1 is, so the

  • OWB 10.2 Performance

    Hi all,
We are using OWB 10.2 on AIX 5.3L, with Oracle DB 10.2.0.
We are experiencing performance issues, in particular during mapping deploy.
Sometimes, a deploy of a single mapping takes over than 5 minutes.
In particular, we have discovered that when the DB is performing I/O bound operations, OWB experience becomes very slow. If we launch query or procedure via sqlplus, it runs immediately, even under high I/O.
    Do you have similar experiences?
Can you suggest a strategy for the solution of this issue?
    Bye,
    Andrea

Did you try to create the following indexes on your repositories schemas ?
    create index wb_rt_idx_ao_ou on wb_rt_audit_objects (object_uoid) tablespace &tndex.;
    create index wb_rt_idx_ao_pa on wb_rt_audit_objects (parent_audit_object_id) tablespace &tndex;

  • Error installing OWB 10.2.0.1 repository on for AIX

    Hi!
I'm trying to install OWB repository on AIX with repository assistant, but I'm stuck with the following error included on the log file generated:
INS0017: Installation of the seeded data failed.
    oracle.wh.util.parser.ParseException:
Internal Error: id generation error. Please contact Oracle Support with the stack trace and details on how to reproduce it.
I read several posts and workaround about dropping schemas and roles, but none was effective.
Also tried using "thin" user jdbc driver.
This would be the first repository for OWB 10.2.0.1.
    Any help?
    Thanks in advance!
    Rgrds,
    Eduardo

    Hi,
Thanks. I have the version that's available for download on OTN.
I believe I have both the 32 and 64bit versions of rpms.

  • Generation of Control file in OWB Mapping.

    Hi All,
OWB config details is as follows:
    OWB 9i :9.2.0.2.8
    OWB Repository: 9.2.0.2.0
OWB 9i Client OS: Windows XP Environment
Oracle DB 9i Enterprise Edition 9.2.0.1.0-64 bit Production on IBM AIX machine.
I developed mapping which involved a source file (CSV) & oracle table as target.
Validated & Generated mapping. No error displayed.
Configured mapping set Data File Location, Bad File Location, Log File Location (All these parameters were set to point to different directories in unix.)
Registered all the above location in Deployment Manager.
Deployed the mapping & executed mapping.
I was expecting control file generated by mapping to create on unix partition, however many times it did save on my local machine on Windows XP rather than on unix. The control file created in the local directory where OWB client is installed.
When the same mapping is executed from another machine still the file was created on my local machine.
This was observed after I created file location for Bad file & Log file from OWB.
Why does control file is created on local machine rather than Unix Server?
Can someone please let me know more on this?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Vidyanand

    Hi Vidyanand
You may try to register physical file location under one logical location. Then register the location with physical datafile lication. It worked for us.
    Cheers, Bana

  • OWB 11.2 with SAP V6, Eror while execution the mapping.

I have a simple staging mapping, I am trying to get data into my staging table from SAP system. So far I have created a simple 1-1 mapping. when I generate the code it produces a abap report which when I try to execute on SAP system I get a syntax error. Now this error did not occur with SAP 11.1, Now I am trying to do is the following since going back to 11.1 is not a option.
When I try to run the mapping using OWB I get the following error.
    NativeExecution PlatformSchema M_STG_CABN_ODS
    M_STG_CABN_ODS
RPE-01082: Fail to execute the ABAP report.
Starting Execution of ABAP Report CABN_STG_CABN on Wed Nov 03 11:59:58 EDT 2010
Running ABAP report through function module RFC_ABAP_RUN_AND_INSTALL
    ERROR: null
Exit on error: Execution of ABAP Report CABN_STG_CABN on Wed Nov 03 11:59:58 EDT 2010
    M_STG_CABN_ODS FAILURE
    NativeExecution PlatformSchema M_STG_CABN_ODS
Although the error is not descriptive i believe structure of the report could be the reason.
Now I am trying to do a work around I save the report into a folder on AIX and modify the file to change the structure of the file. All I have to do is add/ delete spaces in certain places.
Now I plan on creating a process flow which would call that file using a user defined function.
Once I modify the report file manually, I want to execute the report so that I can generate the .dat file and ftp it over to the location and load it into staging using SQL loader as the .dat file is in that format.
The question is How do I do this. Do I need to specify the complete process in the process flow
or when I execute the report it would do the process for me as the ftp folder location has been specified in the SAP location.
    Edited by: U1234567890 on Nov 3, 2010 9:01 AM

Is there any other work around?
I am planning on saving the file and making the changes manually and then FTP it to SAP, Now my problem is I am not sure what Location to move it to.
My question now is where(location) does it(ABAP Report) get deployed . If it is not stored then how does OWB execute the steps in the file. I am trying to find where I can drop the modified file.
    Thanks

  • OWB: Warning in Owb 10.2.0.5 has become an Error in 11.2.0.1

    Hi.
I'm trying to find a way of recovering from errors in our WF's in Owb 11.2.0.1.
In the dev/test/prod environments we are have today we are using Owb 10.2.0.5, WF 2.6.4 and Oracle 11.1.0.7 (running on AIX 6.1).
Our WF strategy has been (and still is) to create a "level one" WF for each mapping and use three END-nodes (Warning, Error and Success) at this level only.
We are using higher level WF's for controlling the running sequence and to run processes in parallel, and these consist of mainly level one WF's. In the higher level WF's we only use transitions with Success condition between the level one WF's. The reason for this is that if a level one WF fail we want to be able to enter the higher level WF and restart the failed WF in WF-manager after having fixed the problem that caused the WF to fail. In other words we want the higher level WF's to stall if any level one WF fail.
When deploying these WF's in 10.2.0.5 we get the Warning VLD-10031. But since this is only a warning it deploys OK.
In preparation for Owb 11.2 we have set up an environment with 11.2.0.1, WF 2.6.4 and Oracle 11.2.0.1 to do a test migration. And what we find here is that the former Warning VLD-10031 now has become an Error VLD-10031. And hence the same WF's do not deploy in the new enviroment.
What I would like to know is if there is a way of setting up a WF so that it stalls in Owb 11.2 whenever a sub-WF within the WF fail.
Any other suggestions on how to work around this poblem is also welcome.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi,
if I look in Metalink/Oracle Support there is bug 6896287. It describes exactly your problem, although with an slightly other environment. Have a look and otherwise contact Support.
