Thank you in advance.

Dear Friend,
First of all delete all refistry values related to ORACLE 9i from regedit .
then select minimun option for installation , but donot use database creation

Using dbassist Create database . If it will work or not inform me , then i will give u another option to solve u r problem

  • Has anyone experience with personal oracle on a lone machine?

    I keep changing configurations around trying to connect with personal oracle running on my own machine. Right now, EasyConfig doesnt like any of the service_names I give it and gives me ORA-12514. Please post or e-mail me. Thanks

    According to the information on this page the required Aircard 580 card is NOT compatible with any version of the Mac OS. Which is really odd since the banner across the top of the page proclaims "wireless, mobile web access for your mac". Perhaps they intend for you to buy a compatible phone and use Bluetooth connectivity to allow the phone to act as a modem for your Mac.
    The built-in wireless of your Mac does not allow you to connect directly to cellular networks like BlueMobility.
    After some more digging... I found this page which supposedly lists the Mac compatible options.

  • Which Forms version works with Personal Oracle 8i

    Can any one let me know which version of Forms/Developer works with Personal Oracle 8i (8.1.7)? The OS that I have Personal Oracle 8i is Windows 2000. Also is the Forms/Developer version that goes with this available for download? If yes, where?
    Thanks in advance,
    Aruna.

    you can use forms/reports developer 6i (for client/server and web) against 8.1.7 P.E. on windows 2000. I tested this configuration in the past and it worked fine. You can download the forms/reports developer 6i from OTN (from the forms download page).

  • Discoverer 3.1.x Install on NT with Personal Oracle 8i

    Can Discoverer 3.1.x be installed on a Windows NT machine that already has Personal Oracle 8i (8.1.6) installed on it? If so, how?
    The Discoverer Installer posts some contradictory error messages when I try to do this.
    First, if I try to install Discoverer to a separate ORACLE_HOME, the Installer tells me that the Installer does not support multiple installations and that Discoverer must be installed in the same ORACLE_HOME as the existing Oracle8i.
    But when I rerun the installation trying to use the existing Oracle8i ORACLE_HOME, the Installer tells me that this ORACLE_HOME directory is already being used for "Oracle 816 Production" and that "It cannot be used as an Oracle home for 'nt'".
    This is an odd contradiction. IMHO, it seems that Discoverer and Personal Oracle 8i would be a rather natural pairing, and that Oracle Corp would be interesting in having these 2 products be able to co-exist on the same machine.
    The Install.wri notes (July99) do indicate that Discoverer 3.1 cannot be installed on the same machine as Personal Oracle 8.0.3 but can be installed alongside 8.0.4. Also, in another posting (http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum16/HTML/000117.html) in this Discussion Group, it would appear that Discoverer 3.1 can be installed with Oracle 8i, but how?
    (As a footnote: I would definitely prefer to install Discoverer into a separate ORACLE_HOME from the Oracle server.)
    Thanks for any clarity on this situation.

    Hello Jerry:
    There are two possible ways to deal with this issue:
    1. Install Discoverer into the first (Default) Oracle_Home on your machine.
    2. Install the RDBMS into another ORACLE_HOME.
    Discoverer cannot be installed into a non Default Oracle_HOME.
    Also...
    In this scenario you can do the following.
    In the Oracle Installer you write DEFAULT_HOME in the NAME field and the you enter a directory different from the one Oracle8i is installed in. In many cases this does the trick. But you can get into a scenario where you still gets the errors message. In this case you exit the installer, starts a Dos Prompt and enter regedit, to edit the registry. Here you
    find the key
    \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\ALL_HOMES\DEFAULT_HOME. You change the value of this key to DEFAULT_HOME and then start the installation again.
    I hope this helps.

  • Problems with Personal Oracle Instal on WinME

    Hi,
    Can someone throw some light on this, please?
    I am trying to install Personal Oracle on a machine running ME.
    When I use Personal Oracle for '98, it stops with a message about the paths to Source and Destination of the software. I checked many times about the availability of the directories, but it does not go forward. I tried the JREW = ... in the COMPATIBILITY95 section of the WIN.INI without success.
    When I try to install Personal Oracle for Win2K, it apparently installs the EE, and tries to configure the network. Here it asks for the name of the host. When the server and the client are to be on the same machine, what is the need for a network connection?
    That aside, what is the correct version to install on a ME machine? Are there any work-arounds for these problems?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    The OCI drivers require a client-side DLL in order to work. I believe it also needs some of SQL*Net. The client-side DLL is available with the Oracle Client software distribution.
    You need to install the Oracle Client software that matches the version of the JDBC drivers you are using on the machine where you are trying to make the connection (the client).
    If you are using the ORacle 8.1.5 JDBC drivers, you need the ORacle 8.1.5 Client software (regardless of what version of the database you are connecting to). Check the Paths tab in your project properties to see what version of the drivers you are using. By default it is 8.1.5 with JDev 2 and 3.0.
    If you want to use a different version of the JDBC drivers, make sure to see the online help for switching driver versions.

    I tried your advice, unfortunately it still does not work. Curiously, I get the error "Unable to connect to destination" not "Cannot resolve name".
    It seems as if it can read tnsnames.ora, but cannot connect to the database??? One thing that is unusual (i think) is that when I installed Developer 6.0 from the CD,
    the Net8 Configuration assistant was never launched. I've heard from several people that
    it should be launched after installlation. I'm working with a CD-ROM from a textbook titled
    "Oracle Developer Starter Kit" which claims to be the complete Oracle Developer-Developer Server Release 6.0 product!
    Does anybody know if the installion of Developer 6i includes configuration by Net8 assistant???
    Still trying> Thanks for your help.

  • Difficulties connecting with oci8 to Personal Oracle 8 on Win98

    After looking through responses to other similar difficulties posted, I still can't seem to get this working.
    I have Personal Oracle 8 running on Win98 on a laptop. I'm using Sun jdk117 and trying to connect with oci8 because the thin driver won't work without a TCP/IP listener which I understand Personal Oracle doesn't support.
    There's an entry in my PATH pointing to c:\jdbc where the oci805jdbc.dll file is, and an entry in CLASSPATH pointing to c:\jdbc\classes111.zip .
    To start with I'm using a simple connect program which shouldn't do much more than make a connection and close it again (please see below).
    The program compiles fine, but when I run it all I get is:
    C:\apache\jserv11b3\servlets>java connect2
    in main()
    connect instantiated
    in tryconnect()
    going to attempt connect
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no oci805jdbc in shared library path

    at connect2.tryconnect(connect2.java:19)
    at connect2.main(connect2.java:42)
    C:\apache\jserv11b3\servlets>
    I can't see any reason why there should be problems linking oci805jdbc.dll as PATH definitely has an entry pointing to the directory where it is located.
    Doubtless I'm doing something silly, or I'm missing some essential configuration parameter.
    Thanks for any helpful suggestions.
    program code:
    import java.sql.*;
    class connect2
    public int tryconnect()

    DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc racle ci8:@laptop:1521:ORCL", "system", "manager");
    catch (SQLException e)
    System.out.println ("Database Connect Failed");
    System.out.println (e.getMessage());

    return (0);
    public static void main(String argv[])

    int Csuccess = c.tryconnect();
    if (Csuccess == 0 )
    System.out.println("Successfully Connected");

    Thanks for your kind response.
    I'll have a look through the docs and see if I can find out how to get the TCP/IP listener running with Personal Oracle.
    I've been trying to use oci805jdbc.dll from the jdbc80520-nt.zip download file.
    Since the original post I've been trying to get the connection working with the Sun JDBC-ODBC bridge, but all I get is:
    C:\apache\jserv11b3\servlets>java connect2
    in main()
    connect instantiated
    in tryconnect()
    going to attempt connect
    Database Connect Failed
    [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default drive
    r specified
    The java code is identical apart from:
    Class.forName ("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    and
    Connection conn =
    DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc dbc:LAPTOP;database=ORCL", "system", "manager");
    The relevant entry in tnsnames.ora is:
    LAPTOP.WORLD =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = BEQ)(PROGRAM = oracle80)(ARGV0 = oracle80ORCL)(ARGS = '(DESCRIPTION=(LOCAL=YES)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=BEQ)))'))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = ORCL)

    Hi, how are you?
    I read your file. On my computer, I got the same problem. First I installed Personal Oracle 8.15 version under window 98. The oracle home is e:\orale\ora81. Then I installed Form 8i in the orale home e:\oracle\ora. After installation, there are two SQLPLUS. One is under ora81 and another is ora. The one which is in e:\oracle\ora81 is working and it can bring up the database. Another one and Forms don't work. They can not connect to the local database. It means my client which is under e:\oracle\ora can't connect to my server which is under e:\oracle\ora81. I think I shoud set up the connection in tnsnames.ora by using Net8 Easy Config. I did it. It failed. Can you help me?
    Thanks.

    No, you shouldn't have to to.
    If you have Personal Oraacle 8 running properly on your PC, then you can just connect to the database from Developer V6 using your normal username/password. For example, if you log on to SQLPLUS as scott/tiger, then the same will work for your forms and reports. You don't even need to enter a connect string. I have it working OK on a Windows '98 PC, with Personal Oracle 8i, and Forms v6i.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

    Faisal,
    You may already have resolved this issue but just in case you
    are still getting problems, here is some info that may help.
    I faced the same problems with Oracle Developer 6 and Personal
    Oracle 7.3.3. Oracle Developer 6 uses Net8 to connect to the db
    whereas Personal Oracle 7 uses SQL*Net, hence the TNS problems
    you have been getting.
    There is a solution. Oracle Support suggested that you had to
    have a listener running in order for the connection to work. To
    do this you needed to instal the SQL*Net Add-Ons from the
    Personal Oracle CD, configure TNSNAMES.ora to point to a dummy
    IP address and start the listener. When I tried this I
    discovered that you don't infact need amend the TNSNAMES.ora
    file or run up the listener. As long as the SQL*Net add-ons are
    installed, the connection from Oracle Developer 6 to Personal
    Oracle 7 seems to work.
    Hope this is of some help.

  • Personal Oracle 8i

    I installed Personal Oracle 8i on my Windows Millennium system but cannot login to Oracle to start the database. Does anyone know the default password to initially start the database? I tried "ORACLE" and "MANAGER" but they did not work. Does Enterprise Manager come with Personal Oracle 8i? I could not locate it after I installed Oracle.

    Not sure about Windows ME, but on Windows 2000 you would open the "control panel" and then open the "services" icon. In the list of services find an entry like "OracleService<SID>" and by right clicking on it should give you the option to start the service/database instance.
    Alternatively use the Oracle server manager using the user "internal" and password "oracle" (default) and you should be able to start your instance from there.

    you need to firstly delete all references to oracle on your pc then start with a clean install(after checking in windows registry and deleting all referencves to oracle, also in aoutoexec.bat file) install into 2 separate directories, 8i into oracle and forms into another directory, then configure using sql net easy config
