OWB Client 9i : Hardware Requirements

Hi,
I like to have your feedback regarding the Hardware requirement for OWB9i client side. On training the teacher said that 512 Mb ram and a CPU higher that 500 Hz is the minimum. In the other hand on a Oracle site they said that 256 Mb and CPU: Pentium II, 266MHz is the minium.
What's the reality ? Do you have some Oracle documents ?

The recommandation mentioned in the documentation is valid for 'minimal' requirements, but the performance will not be particularly good.
For production-like real world environments, your teacher's recommendation is probably closer to the mark.

  • OWB Client Hardware Requirements

The hardware requirements specified by Oracle for the OWB client appear to be greatly understated in their documentation. I'm getting a lot of complaints. Does anyone have basic specs for a workstation that doesn't need to be rebooted once a day and doesn't cost a fortune that they have had success running the OWB client on?

We've found the biggest requirement for 10gR2 is to have AT LEAST 1 Gb of Ram. Any less and the processes just seem to drag. 2 Gb of ram is even better.
Sounds like a lot, but RAM is pretty cheap.
    Hope this helps,
    Scott
p.s. a dual core processor is nice too, but we have people using a single 2 Ghz chip having no problems at all.

  • Which folder requires the permission to run OWB client on linux server?????

I use to login to linux server by Xmanager by windows machine which requires a username and password, when i changed the password recently OWB started showing a error when exiting OWB client open on server throuh XMANAGER, It is asking for a permission on a particular folder..............can anybody tell me which folder requires the permission to run OWB client on server???

This is probably complaining about either the preference properties files or some other user preference files in owb/bin/admin
    Cheers

  • Client Hardware Requirements - Portal Usage

    Hi everyone,
is there a guideline what is the minimal/recommended hardware requirement for a Client PC. So it is able to access SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Portal.
Maybe more detailed than "Every Modern PC"
Is there an official SAP statement regarding this?
    Regards
    M. Stanka

    Hi Michael...
    System Requirements :
    Operating System:
Windows 2000 (Service Pack 3); Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 1) or Windows Server 2003
    NTFS-File systems
Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher or Firefox 1.0 or higher
At least 1 GB RAM, 2 GB are recommended
Intel Pentium III/1.1 GHz or higher (or compatible)
14 GB free hard disk space (8.6 GB for the installed software and 4,9 GB for the installer software)
    High-resolution monitor (1024x768 or higher, 256 colors)
Sun Microsystems J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_08 or 1.4.2_09 (Sun JDK 1.5 not tested)
Please navigate to J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_09 installation archive site if you need to install this software.
If you have already installed SAP products on your computer, you must ensure that none of the systems are called "J2E".
The file C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\services (Windows 2000) or C:\Windows\system\32\drivers\etc\services (Windows XP) must not include an entry for the ports 3601, 3201 and 50100 to 50130. A possible entry can be excluded by using the hash symbol (#).
If no DHCP server is available on your network (which dynamically determines the IP address) or your computer is not connected to any network, you need to install the virtual interface adapter MS Loopback Adapter.
To use Interactive Forms based on Adobe software, you must install the necessary credential file and activate it using a unique password.
Download the latest credential and password from SDN.
If necessary, install the SUN J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_09.

What are the recommended system & hardware requirements for clients P6 Professional and Client Web for P6 8.2 ???
I need to know the recommended systems & hardware requirements for clients P6 Professional and Client Web for P6 8.2
I mean what kind of processor, memory ram minimum and maximus to run or to deploy P6 Professional Client from P6 8.2 version and the requeriments to run the P6 8.2 Web application.
I need like a chart (not necesary) with the most common configuration with hardware and software like the example below
         SO     Ram     Hdd     Processor
    P6 Professional 8,2     Windows Xp Sp3     4 Gb     2 Gb +     Core2Duo 1,8 +
         Oracle Linux     4 Gb     3 Gb     Core2Duo 1,6 +
    P6 Web 8,2     Windows Xp Sp3     4 Gb     2 Gb +     Core2Duo 1,8 +
         Oracle Linux     4 Gb     3 Gb     Core2Duo 1,6 +
Because all information I saw it´s about Server (Database, Server Application and others) and not very clever about P6 8.2 Client and P6 8.2 Web.

I haven't seen PC requirements for a Win workstation per se either. Here are the only 8.2 client requirements I can find.
    Supported Configurations for Client Modules
    For Clients Accessing P6
     Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 8, IE 9, Firefox 8+, Safari 5.1.x+, Chrome 15+
 Sun JRE (the required version will install automatically with P6); Always install the latest supported patch update with security fixes

For Clients Accessing P6 Progress Reporter
     IE 8, IE 9, Firefox 8+, Safari 5.1.x+, Chrome 15+
     Sun JRE (the required version will install automatically with P6 Progress Reporter);
Always install the latest supported patch update with security fixes
     TCP/IP network protocol
     Optional software:
 Java Access Bridge 2.01 (for 508 accessibility)
 P6 Progress Reporter has been tested with the following technologies:
 JAWS® for Windows screen reading software, version 7.0
     ZoomText Magnifier 9.0
For Database Clients Running P6 Professional
 Database client release 11.1.0.7.0 is supported for Oracle 10gR2, Oracle 11gR1
databases and 11.2.0.2.0 for Oracle 11gR2 (required only for Oracle databases and
    supports only the 32-bit version).

  • Flash Media Server VOD hardware requirements per client

Hi I was wondering what the hardware requirements are for VOD
use of FMS 3 per client.
What I want to do is to be able to calculate what kind of
machines would be required to cater an x amount of clients at the
same time. For example CPU usage per user for a 500 Kbps video is
40 MHz, memory 100MB etc. or if there is a formula. If I have that
then I can also calculate the cost per view etc.
If you have a server with a Gbps connection to a network you
could cater for 2000 users but then if the memory usage is 100MB
per user that would not be possible etc.
Any kind of relative information (even server suggestions)
    would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Hardware Requirements for Forms 9i Client machine

I'm busy investigating what will the hardware requirements be for migrating Forms 4.5 to Forms 9i.
Please give me indications how much RAM, CPU I need on a
user machine to quickly and efficiently display & generate the correct GIU Java classes as received from the Forms 9i App Server?
What requiremnets are recommended for the Forms 9i App
Server? (Not according Ora docs, but accroding expierance)
    Regards
    Francois du Toit

First for hardware requierments a good starting point is the capacity planning guide http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/6iscalability.pdf
As far as what you need to license
Oracle9i Developer Suite - for each developer.
Oracle9i Application Server Enterprise Edition - for the server (Solaris) that will be used to deploy your Forms.
Costs - check out http://store.oracle.com or talk to your Oracle account manager or Oracle Direct.
Web Server - included as part of Oracle9iAS (an enhanced apache). Oracle9iAS is the only supported application server to run Forms on.

  • Hardware requirement for Implementing RF

    Hi Experts ,
Our client is looking forward to implement RF in Warehouse ;Can any one let me know what are the hardware requirements ( Servers required ) to implement RF.
    1. If they intend to use a Character based hand Held device.
    2. if they intend to use a GUI Based hand held devices.
    Looking forward for reply
    Regards
    Albert.

    Hi,
    If you are having the User Id to use the service.sap.com, you will find all the documentation related to RF, if you don't have the User ID, please check out the following;
    1. Apart from SAP Server, you need to install the Telnet Server, if you are using the SAP Console.
    2. If you are using the Third Party interface for RF Scanners, they will install the third party interface software instead of Telnet software.
    3. Recommended vendors for RF are; Techlogix, LXE, Intermec.
    4. You need to make sure about the Screen formats and the network coverage and the range for the Access points which you use in the warehouse.
    Hope it helps you.

    hi ash7319,
    greetings of the day.
well the hardware and software requirements are as per the need of ur usage.
if u r looking at 15 users, then u need to have atleast 1GB for every 4 users in the intranet.
if again via citrix, then u need more.
well the suggestion that can be recommended is that u can have the following.
    8 GB RAM
250GB HDD if no other application is running, if any other application then its better u have 500GB with RAID 1+0.
Xeon Processor would be the best with two processors.
    two sockets.
    preferably IBM server.
    thanks and regards.

  • Owb$client role

    Hi,
I have a question regarding privileges which are necessary for OWB. I am not an OWB specialist, so hope someone can give me god advice here.
Our OWB setup is to have one 'technical' account for executing all OWB flows and mappings - this user is granted OWB Client roles and privileged i.e. OWB$Client, OWB_USER and OWB_DESIGNCENTER_VIEW roles and so called 'target' DB schemas where only data are stored with simple DB privs. like 'create table, view, procedure' etc.
This 'techincal' OWB user have on DB level all necessary privileges on objects in 'traget' DB schemas in order to execute procedures, manipulate data etc. This means that privilege resolution on DB level for this user works fine.
But, in order to execute OWB flows and mappings out of this 'technical' OWB user which are modofying data in our 'target' DB schemas our developer is requesting the 'target' DB schemas must be also granted OWB$Client, OWB_USER and OWB_DESIGNCENTER_VIEW role.
Is this really necessary? If yes, why?
    many thanks,
    goran

    Hi Goran,
But, in order to execute OWB flows and mappings out of this 'technical' OWB user
As I understand you developers plan to execute mappings under target user. In this case their requirement is justified.
    Regards,
    Oleg
P.S. In my opinion direct granting privileges to OWB-related database users is a bad practice.
The only legal and documented way for configuring OWB is using OWB utilities (like Repository Assistant, Design Center etc. - look at OWB Administrator guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31080_01/doc/install.102/b28224/security.htm#BGBEBFEG)

  • Edge server role hardware requirements

I'm new to Exchange Server 2007 and am in the early stages of planning the installation and deployment. This server will be used in a company with approximately 25 users.
My plan is to use a one machine for Client Access, Hub transport, Mailbox, and Unified messaging.
What are the hardware requirements for the machine that will be running the Edge Server role? Are they different than the machine that will be running the other four roles?
Would 25 CALS be required for the edge server and 25 for the server running the other four roles?
    Thanks

You will find all Hardware requirements here (all roles)
    http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/01/16/432222.aspx
All clients only need one CAL for all Exchange server
I don't even think that you need a CAL for the EDGE server
You do need an Exchange Server License for every server you have

  • Hardware requirements for OA 11.5.9 ....

I'm looking for hardware requirements for OA 11.5.9 on .... i want to install it on AMD Barton XP 3000MZ, 512M memory and 120GB hard disk on XP operating system ... please help me
I wait to receive yor opinion ...... please

Thank you for those who replied me ..... I think I must give you more details ... This EBS instalation is for a small group of developers who wants to study this ERP for implementetion at clients site .... So, performance isn't so important ... all that I need is "to work"
I found out that I need more software - is this software for linking executables of products that I install?
I make download for resource kit which tell me -when I want to install it- that he needs by MKS Toolkit ... I must to wait to cantact me someone for this toolkit?
I read a very good documentation -short but comprehensive- from Liam Cooper
    -http://mce.org.uk/liam/orahelp.tif-
Do you think that 512M ram and 120G on disk is enough? You think that for what I need is enough memory? I must remaind you performance doesn't matter ....
About diskspace ... how diskspace is needed for database -in the initial stage of usig this product- , how for middle tier - forms, reports and self-services applications?
I heard that EBS is on many CDs ... version 11.5.9 on how many CDs is relying?

  • Java GUI's & Hardware requirements

We wish to write Java applications either browser based or Swing based. Our application server is runing on our AS400 thro Websphere. What choices do we have as far as client hardware is concerned ?
What actually runs on the client in a swing based app ?
What actually runs on the client in a HTML app ?
    Thanks for your help
    Simon

The hardware required for the client is going to be very much dependent on the application. A good new (Pentium 4) would certainly chew through most applications without much problem. I've had few problems beyond 500MHz. Memory has been quite important from time to time, though.
I would recommend Windows for the client; this platform has typically been best supported in terms of browsers and Java GUI functionality.
However, if you're developing a Java client you shouldn't really need to worry too much about the client machine specification. Do you actually have control over the client machine specification anyway?

  • Hardware requirements for BizTalk

Hi we are planning to setup BizTalk server in our Clients environment. what are the hardware requirements needed to set it up ?
Can anyone give more information for setting BizTalk 2010
    and also for BizTalk 2013
    MBH

    Hi,
Many factors influence the performance of a production BizTalk Server environment.
    - Message size
    - Schema complexity
    - Map complexity
    - Pipeline components
    - Tracking data
    - Message-persistence frequency
    - Transport adapters
    - Host configuration
    - Orchestrations
    Performance Factors
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc615058(v=bts.10).aspx
Use tools like PAL on a staging or acceptance environment to evaluate the performance of a BizTalk Server solution.
    Performance Analysis of Logs (PAL)
The PAL tool is used to generate an HTML-based report that graphically charts important performance counters and generates alerts when thresholds for these counters are exceeded. PAL is an excellent tool for identifying bottlenecks in a BizTalk Server solution
to facilitate the appropriate allocation of resources when optimizing the performance of the solution.

don't have real-world experience with xgrid and before starting I'd like to ask the pros what would be minimum hardware requirements (CPU, RAM, network bandwidth) for a server running xgrid service with less than 5 clients connected to it and used from Compressor.
How much load a Compressor job puts on the server when distributing the task?
