OWB copying entire project to another repo environment

Hi Experts,
We are using Oracle 10g R2 and I'm still pretty much new to OWB. My question probably have been answered before but I can't find in the forum.
Details:
- We have 3 Repository Environment (Dev,Test,Prod).
- Users login in Dev
- In Dev we create our projects, deploy mappings and execute for initial test
- When everything works fine, we set the locations and configuration to TEST environment. Again deploy and test for larger data set
Question:
- Is it possible to copy the entire projects from Dev into TEST environment? If yes, please assist me on how to do it.
Concern:
Although changing location and the configuration for control center from one environemnt into another works fine. For me, having the copy in TEST is more organize and easier to manage.
Thank you for reading and hoping to get some answers.

After the import, you can check if all the objects were imported in the log. If the project wasn't recognized, all the internal objects will fail.
But before you should choose if you want to match by names or id. If the projects were created isolated in each enviroment, you have to choose "by names". If the project names are diferent, then nothing will be imported. I only use "match by id" when one project was a result of a previous import of the other project.
Also, you have to choose if you want to merge or replace the objects, because you'll have many duplicated objects. If you have chosen "create only" and the objects was already there, nothing happens.

  • How do I copy a project to another computer?

A project in FCPX has grown from its original scope. I've now got four different Events on an old iMac (maxed out with 4GB). I want to move the project to another Mac. I've copied over all of the Event folders as well as the Project folder. (Total: about 100GB)
The problem is that the timeline tells me I'm missing clips, but they were all consolidated into the Event folders before copying them to the second Mac. Trying to reconnect each clip is not working (because it's like cutting the whole thing again). Many of the edits used "Favorites," excluded "Rejected" clips, had audio corrections, transitions, connected storylines, etc.
Is there a way to save my edits when moving this project? (Re-editing the whole project is almost impossible to consider.)
    Thank you.
(I'm running 10.6.8 on the old computer and 10.8.2 on the new one. Both are running FCPX 10.0.6.)

Sorry for the incovenience. It's fine. User error. [head slap]

  • I got error 8: vi resource not found After copy the project to another location

I copied the project folder in C: to D:
I opened a .vi file in D: then closed LabView.
I try to open the same .vi file in C:   I got :"LabVIEW Load Error Code 8 -   Could not find VI resource".
I checked all the files in C:  no file have been modified.
I'm using LabView 5.1 with Windows NT.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Suesong,
This KB seems to suggest that the erro you are getting is a result of the Vi in question being compiled in a newer version of LabVIEW:

  • AP crash - can't open/copy/backup project

    Hi,
    got a disaster here:
Aperture crash while I was making selections. I was able to open Aperture once, all it did was recovering smart albums, but it would not show any files at all. The project has all masterfiles included. I tried to copy the whole project to another harddrive - but it just stops. I had to pul the power plug on the HD to get at least the finder back.
I believe that there is a corrupt file inside the package. How can I find it? What else can I do? I have not tried to open the project again - would like to get a backup first.
I did all "normal fixes" like repair permissions and repair disk - there were no problems.
One more hint, when I try to copy the project to another Harddrive I'm not able to eject the harddrive - I have to pul the plug to get at least the finder back.
Any ideas?? Can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

Chances are low but you might get lucky.
If the projects were originally in the Home/Movies/iMovie Projects and Home/Movies/iMovie Events respectively on the other Mac, there is a chance you could move them to the corresponding folders on your Mac and they might work. At that point, you could use iMovie to move them where you like. If they used photos or music in the project, they would probably be missing,

  • Copying an entire software instrument track from one project to another

    Hello,
Is it possible to copy or import one entire software instrument track from one GB 3.0.2 project to another? At the moment I've got to copy a region from one project, open another project, paste it in the 2nd project, and open the other one again (which appears to close the 2nd project) to copy the second region. This is incredibly cumbersome because I can't have both projects open at the same time.
Has anyone found a less tiresome method to do this?
    Thanks

The easiest work-around I can imagine is to join all regions of the track and copy that. Another option is to freeze the track, which will turn it into normal audio. You might also add your MIDI parts to the library. That will avoid the need to switch between projects, but does require one or two more actions.

  • Can I copy clips from one project to another?  The clips are still frames captured within a video event.

Can I copy clips from one project to another?  The clips are frames saved as stills from a video event.  I try the copy & paste but it does not seem to work.

The video was converted into MP4 and then I could get it into iMovie events.  I had right clicked and saved farmes as stills.  ABout 50 of them,  When I tried to copy and paste those stills into another project I couldn't. They came up blank.
I ended up going to a Genius appointment at my APPLE store this afternoon and was told that those "stills" aren't really anything. Not a .jpg or video, so the program doesn't recognize them.  So instead I'm using the Project with the 50 stills and copying other .jpgs and video into it.  (This is for a 1961 Class Reunion, so it's old stuff).  Seems to work so far.
So bottom line seems to be I can use these stills created from a video in the project in which they were created, but no where else.  Do you know a way around this?

  • I have no problems copying iMovie Events from one Mac to another, however, how can I copy iMovie Projects from one Mac to another?

I have no problems copying iMovie Events from one Mac to another, however, how can I copy iMovie Projects from one Mac to another?  Any help will be appreciated.  Thank you.

This should give you some good insight, I'd probably store them on an External HD on the old machine and then just drag and drop to the new machine.

  • Copy tracks from one project to another

(Hopefully, I'm just missing something obvious. Programs like Final Cut Pro and PhotoShop make it very easy to have multiple projects open and copy and paste between them.)
I frequently copy tracks I like from one project to another. Although it's possible to do, it seems a given that Logic doesn't not like to have more than one project open at a time. This complicates it a bit, but I just copy the track I want, close the current project and open the new one.
I wish in the edit menu or in the track drop-down menu there was a straight forward "Copy Track" option. Since there isn't, I just select the whole track (which is essentially all the regions) and copy and then paste into new project. The problem is that it brings the content over fine, but not the track info (name, etc.)
Is there some better way to accomplish this? I don't want to export MIDI tracks as audio, so the Export option doesn't work.
    Thanks,
    Dave

I looked at the video again and unless they did some editing in FCP (which would have to be the case), the following frame after selecting the regions shows both gone simultaneously.
It is quite possible of some FCP editing but as I said first you can do that very fast using two neighbor keys so it can look as one magic shot. The screen capture tools use low FPS settings for media capturing about 15 fps for example.
I tend to occasionally put a blank track between other tracks as a separator (been doing this since the Master Tracks Pro days).
I think you can try a little trick for doing that. You can create a "Dummy" empty region inside a folder track for example, and use the folder track(s) as separator(s). I have not tried that yet, cause I'm away of my Logic but it must work this way.

  • How to copy a Jdev project to another Jdev on a different machine

I have an application running in JDev 9052 using uix and bc4j objects connecting to an Oracle database. It is running on a Terminal Server Windows 2000 machine.
I want to move this project to a different PC in a different location running Windows XP professional and Oracle Personal Version.
I have done a clean install of JDeveloper 9052 and zipped up the project on the Terminal Server and downloaded it to the new location. I setup my JDeveloper environment to be identical to the original. Same JDevhome and My work environment and so on.
The only difference is that the connection information is slightly different since the host name and SID are different. The connection name is the same.
After unzipping the project into the new environment, I open the projects JWS file to add it in. I then rebuild the bc4j and web portions of the project. I can then run the bc4j part and see the database records. I can also open up my UIX pages in the preview section and they connect to the database properly.
When I run the application from JDeveloper I get the following error: The page cannot be found
This is caused by the URL being rendered improperly. What it tries to find is:
    http://192.168.1.101:8988/SMART/Login.uix%20"%1"
If I erase the characters at the end in the browser address field and get:
    http://192.168.1.101:8988/SMART/Login.uix
    Then the application will work.
The only thing I can figure out is that I don't transfer the application properly.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong here?
    Thanks ver much, Steve

Here is how I got it working
    1. open the projects and make sure the Dependencies are checked for the other project
    2. open the JClient client project that contains the calling form
    3. select the databinding.cpx file and you see that one datacontrol is used
    4. To add the other datacontrol (the other BC project) select an attribute from it in the data control palette and drop it to the calling JClient panel.
    5. Delete the create item because all that we care for is to get the the second data control registered in the project's cpx file
    6. Open the databinding.cpx file of the second (the called JClient project) and copy everything between the <containee> elements into the clipboard. Note that you can have one or more of them
For my example, the databinding.cpx content of the second JClient project contained the following binding reference
    <Containee
    id="FormUIModel"
    ObjectType="BindingContainerReference"
    FullName="mypackage3.FormUIModel" >
    </Containee>
    7. Open the databinding.cpx file of the calling project in a text editor and paste the content of the clipboard to it. Save the file.
    8. Add the following code to a button that calls the JClient form in the other project (in my example the called form has a name of "Form" and is in a packe mypackage3 that I imported
    Form frm = new Form();
    frm.setBindingContext(panelBinding.getBindingContext());
    frm.setVisible(true);
The reason you have to do all this is because the binding context is passed from one form to the other, which means that its databinding.cpx file need to contain all the binding information.
You could make your life a lot simpler if you don't use two model projects. But this is your design decision and i can only tell you how to get it working.

  • --Any way to copy/paste clips from one project to another w/o LOSING TRANSITIONS...??

    I have CS5...
I'm trying to speed up render/export time. I have multiple edited video's in about 15 different projects.
I had a couple video's within one project and rendered the work area - consisting of 4 video's...then exported. It was much faster than just going to straight exporting so I wanted to do the same with all the other video's.
Pull everything into one project - render first - and export from there but premiere doesn't copy transitions from one project to another. Is there any way to get it to copy/paste transitions??
    Thanks

exported regularly and took 2hrs 50min's for each video....then rendered and exported - took prob around 2hrs total - including rendering/exporting.
That seems unlikely.  If anything, the separate render/export should take slightly longer (though not that much) as you may also have to transcode the preview files (depending on your preview codec) during the render, as well as decode them for the export.  Besides adding an additional layer of compression, it also adds time.  Here's what I mean.
    Export only:
    1. Decode original media
    2. Render new frame based on sequence, effects, titles, etc.
    3. Transcode that new frame to the export codec of choice.
    Render (1-3) /Export (4-5)
    1. Decode original media.
    2. Render new frame based on sequence, effects, titles, etc.
    3. Transcode that new frame to the Preview codec (if anything less than Uncompressed, this adds time and potentially degrades quality)
    4.  Decode the rendered frame (if not Uncompressed, which adds time)
    5. Transcode that (decoded) render frame to the export codec of choice.
So you see, the render first process has two extra steps which add time, one of which could also introduce additional artifacts (depending on your preview codec).

  • Can you copy custom To Do List settings from one project to another?

Using RH9. We created a number of To Do List entries for one of our Robohelp projects that we now want to use in all of our RH projects (File > Project Settings > Manage To Do List for Robohelp Project). Is it possible to copy these entries from one project to another? Or do we need to re-create the list of To Do tasks for each one of our 20+ projects?

    Hi there
The "To Do" list items appear to be stored directly in the ProjectName.XPJ file. So theoretically it would be possible to copy them by opening one XPJ using Windows Notepad, copying them, then opening the target XPJ and pasting. However, this will likely cause a disparity between the XPJ and the .CPD. So before actually opening the project where you are copying them into, you would want to close the project and delete the CPD. Then modify the XPJ and re-open the project. A fresh CPD should then be baked up and things should be in sync.
You might also want to submit a Wish Form to ask for an easier way to transfer custom lists. (link is always in my sig)
    Cheers... Rick

  • Can I Copy and Paste From One Project To Another?

I have a scrolling title working very nicely in one project and wanted to "simply" copy and paste it into another project.  After doing the copy on project 1, when I get to project 2 to do the paste, there is nothing there to paste.  Is this something with Premiere Elements 12, or with my iMac for not keeping what I copied in the appropriate buffer?  I found something online that implied there was some software to do this but I can't believe that is the only solution.
I also created a "temporary" project for easier editing with pictures, transitions and sound added that I want to put into my "master" project.  I could create an avi and bring it over but I was hoping to have the finished project all in one source.  Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
    Rick

Thanks for the info.  I'll keep that in mind if I ever want to do it again.  Unfortunately, I had already just re-done it in the master before I saw this.  Amazingly (to me, anyway), I couldn't even cut and paste the TEXT in the title to a Word doc just to save me from keying it in again.  (It was more than a title - it was like movie credits with names, songs, etc.)  I figured I could at least cut and paste the text.
The bigger issue was I had done a "save as" of my main project, deleted all but the 55 pictures I had, then added transitions and music, burned it to a RW DVD so I could see how it looked, then figured if it looked good I would just copy and paste the info into my master.  Well I wound up redoing that as well once I figured out I couldn't do that.  In Pinnacle, whether it was a title or just the video track or audio or both it was a simple highlight of what I wanted, copy it, close that project, open another one, paste it in.  Done.
I also had trouble editing today.  If I edited my pictures, maybe changed one or added one, it messed up my soundtrack.   In Pinnacle I would click a lock icon on the timeline and edit either the audio or video to my heart's content and not mess up the other track.  I could leave the audio in place but replace the video.  For my daughter's wedding, for example, I took video from 3 different cameras but used the audio from just one so it played smoothly but I could switch the video around for the best shots and it looked very good.
Dare I ask how to lock just the audio or video track?  Don't spend a lot of time replying.  I already edited my music file by putting it way out in the timeline where there wasn't any video track.  Then I could split the audio clip, copy part of it, and paste it back in.  I needed the music to last a little longer while the pictures were displaying.  Then when I was done I moved it where I wanted, but even at that, I had to be careful because moving it sometimes messed up the video track if I didn't do it just right.
The good news is I'm pretty much done with my video.

  • Copying Objects One Project to Another

I am trying to copy some obejcts from one project to another.
Both files are version 2. I select import, then from the filmstrip
I clear all, then select objects only, then tell it wht slide I
want them on. It acts like it's working, but noting happens. The
    object don't show up.
    Any insight is appreciated.
    Bill

As we both have found out, no question is a silly one. I have
one click box, one highlight, and a text caption. I am creating a
simulation for a 1st level manager. When I create the sim for teh
2nd level manager the backgrounds are different but the same object
apply. Rather than create the click, highlight and captions all
over, I wanted to use the import feature. It just made sense. I'll
give ADOBe a call and see if they know of any work around.
One thing I did notice, when I do try and import the objects
to a slide I get a very fast progress indicator. The objects do not
appear on the slide. Then if I go to exit it tells me the project
was changed and I need to save it. The when I do save it takes 4-6
miutes to save. Odd becasue no changes are visible.
