Please look in the file [OWB Home]\owb\reposasst\log.txt.0. Let us know if any errors or exceptions are present there, from your latest attempt. More tips on troubleshooting the installation are in here in the appendix of the OWB Install Guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B11000_02/apddiagn.htm#1005923

    Patricia,
Although I don't speak Portugese, and I'm hoping your English is good enough to understand this, it looks like Java cannot find the "oci.dll" dynamic library when you are trying to run the OWB Repository Assistant.
Pardon me for stating the obvious, but have you verified that there is a file named "oci.dll" on the computer where you are trying to run the OWB Repository Assistant?
[By the way, I am unfamiliar with the OWB Repository Assistant.]
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • OWB Repository Assistant - ORA-12514 ?

I installed Oracle 11 on my desktop as my playground.
So far SQL Plus works fine
    SQL Developer works fine
Was going through the first installation and configuration of OWB as per the guide here
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/owb.112/e10581/intro.htm
And I am now on the "Repository Assistant" section

I make it to step 5 (enter in DBA password and ID) and hit the following error

  • Installing OWB 10.2.0.1 Unable to start Repository Assistant  in XP

I've just installed OWB 10.2.0.1 on am XP machine with Oracle 10G running. I've used a different home as recommended. The application will not respond at all. I can't get the Repository Assistant to work among other issues. I just finished the install. I've done no other configuration. What do I still need to do?

    I've had the same problem:
On windows XP pro, 32 bit
    - Installed 9.2.0.1 Server
    - Installed 9.2.0.6 Patch
    - Installed Oracle Worflow + and created workflow user
    - Installed OWB_10.2.0.1.win.zip
All seemed to be fine until attempting to create the OWB repository owner.
The first problem is the same as mentioned above. The issue relates to the view dba_kgllock which was forced created against objects that do not exist. To solve this I used TOAD to find the script used to create the view, deleted the view and created an empty table with the same columns.
This is a complete HACK but allowed OWB Repository Assistant. All then continued and was looking good until about 60% complete and then the system fails with a socket read fail within java.
Thats it, I've stopped dead now, going to continue installation attempts in the morning

    Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1)
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Hi,
during creating the repository owner in repository assistant in about 96% I had an ORA-22905 exception. I read somewhere that I need to patch 9i. I used
    Oracle PatchSet 9.2.0.6
Now "Creating repository owner" step has stopped after i had set owner user and password. CPU is working on 100% and memory used by process is growing. There is no exceptions and Repository Assistant hangs.

  • Cannot Install OWB Repository objects.

I use OWB Repository Assistant after finished Installing BO 10.1.0.2.0.
I filled the User Name field as SYS and surely another fields are correct. But I got the result as
INS0003: OWB Repository Installation cannot continue without DBA privileges. Connect as DBA and use option Create a New Warehouse Builder Repository to continue the process.
How should I do to solve this problem.

This appears to be a locking issue and looking at our Support database it is resolved in 10gR1 and 10gR2 versions of the database but remains on 9i although a warning dialog should be shown. Even so the installation should continue and should be successful.
Do you have AQ running? This sometimes causes this error to occur. I think in the 10gR1 documentation this locking issue was documented and it was supposed to be added to the 10gR2 doc (I need to check to this).
To figure the lock from Repo Asst code, use the following:
    select distinct
    s.sid,
    s.serial#,
    s.username,
    x.kglnaobj as objectname
    from
    dba_kgllock l,
    v$session s,
    x$kgllk x
    where
    l.kgllktype = 'Pin' and
    s.saddr = l.kgllkuse and
    s.saddr = x.kgllkuse and
    x.kglnaobj like '%DBMS_LOCK%';
If this returns rows, display the warning with a suggestion to connect to SQLPlus and issue the following statement (where SID, Serial are what came back from the query)
    ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION 'SID, Serial';
    e.g.
ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION '13, 8'
    That might solve the problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot Create OWB Repository Owner

    Hello All,
On windows XP pro, 32 bit, the following tasks were completed (clean system, 1.5 gig ram and dual core)
    - Installed 9.2.0.1 Server
    - Installed 9.2.0.6 Patch
    - Installed Oracle Worflow + and created workflow user
    - Installed OWB_10.2.0.1.win.zip
All seemed to be fine until attempting to create the OWB repository owner using the Repository Assistant
    Problem 1)
The Repository Assistant froze after being given the user details for the repository owner.
I found a fix (read Hack) for this that I am including FYI. The issue relates to the view dba_kgllock which was force created against objects that do not exist. To solve this I used TOAD to find the script used to create the view, deleted the view and created an empty table with the same columns.
This is a complete hackbut allowed OWB Repository Assistant. All then continued and was looking good until about 60% complete.
    Problem 2)
At approx 60% installation fails with a socket read fail within java.

  • Where is the runtime repository assistant???

    Hi all,
I am working with the OBI SE.
When I am deploying the objects I am getting an error because there is not a valid runtime repository. I found that I have to create the runtime schema with the runtime repository assistant but I don't find it in the menu.
Someone knows if it is installed with OBISE? What do I have to do to create the runtime schema? or, it is already created with the installation?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Victor.

The runtime repository is a part of OWB repository. It's not related to OBISE.
So, I'm assuming your question regarding the Runtime Repository is related to Oracle Warehouse Builder.
It seems like you've created the Design Rep, but did not created the runtime. This is not possible to achieve, unless you explicitly create like that.
You should run the OWB Repository Assistant and choose the BASIC INSTALL option, if you are using OWB on the same box as the database server.
Please, provide more details about your servers and software architecture, versions, os versions and releases.
    Best wishes,
    Marcos

  • INS0003 OWB Repository Installation cannot continue without DBA privileges

    Hi:
I´ve installed oracle database 10120 and today installed oracle warehouse builder 10.1, the installation haven´t problems, but when i try to execute OWB Repository Assistant i have the follow message error:
INS0003 OWB Repository Installation cannot continue without DBA privileges
If i connect me to OEM and check the privileges for sys or system user don't have any problem if i connect me as sysdba.
I created a new user with all privileges and the error is the same.
How could i fix my problem?
    Thanks for your help.
    Alex.

This issue is normally caused because you have not setup sys to connect as sysdba per newer database setup procedures, test with connect "/ as sysdba" in sql*plus.
If you cannot connect from SQLPlus by just the '/ as sysdba' login, then check the Note 50507.1 via Metalink as this describes the different ways you can connect to Oracle as an
    administrative user.

  • Repository Assistant

    Hi,
I get an error while defining workspace "OWB software with the compatible version must be installed locally on the database server machine"
I already Ran remote_owb_install.sql script and after this my owbsys user have granted to read this directory .
Please help me on this issue.
    Regards.

    Hi,
This is not the correct way, but I've been doing this by deleting all tables/functions/packages/sequences... beginning like WB..., OWB..., the tables CREATE$JAVA..., JAVA$CLASS..., VBZ$CHECK... and private synonyms UTL_NAME_ADDR and WB_RT_MAPAUDIT (this is the most important) of the target schema.
This way the target schema is disassociated of the old WB repository, or at least it's not detected as a Target Schema in the new Repository. Then I can use the Repository Assistant in OWB 10.2 to associate the schema to the new repository (and re-deploy all the mappings, etc using the former WB_RT_MAPAUDIT package).
In OWB 9.2 you can find the Repository Assistant in START/Programs/OWB 9.2 (or the way you have named it)/Warehouse Builder/OWB Repository Assistant, but the "Delete Target Schema" process has always failed, it doesn't delete all the objects and the synonym on RUNTIME_USER.WB_RT_MAPAUDIT package it's not deleted, so it caused a lot of problems because in 10.2 this synonym it's not created, the package it's directly referenced.
    Hope this helps
    Ana

  • Repository Assistant 10.2.0.3 Create Repository hangs 30%, SeedData.xml 0%

Using Repository Assistant (Windows 32 bit 10.2.0.3) Advanced Setup Install Type to create a (runtime) OWB Repository on a remote server (solaris 64 bit) Oracle Enterprise Edition 9.2.0.6.0 but the installation hangs at 30% when it is about to start Process Element SeedData.xml (0%). I have checked that the JVM has been installed and is valid on the remote server, returned valid object count 9548 which is greater than the 8548 quoted on Metalink. I have looked at the log file and the last file processed was 'C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\owb\bin\admin\..\..\reposasst\SeedData.xml counted 16587 lines in 140 milliseconds', before lots of class does not exist messages (seems normal as installing Design Repository on local machine also raised these java class does not exists errors). One strange thing was the OWB Repository Assistant did not display the "Oracle Home for the OWB Installation" window/page where I would have checked the "Skip checking of the remote OWB Oracle Home for the Installation"
I have also tried creating the OWB repository using OMBPlus command OMBINSTALL OWB_REPOSITORY, e.g.
    OMBINSTALL OWB_REPOSITORY OWB_RUN_REP_OWNER/password \
    DATA_TABLESPACE 'REPOSITORY' \
    INDEX_TABLESPACE 'REPOSITORY' \
    TEMPORARY_TABLESPACE 'TEMP' \
    SNAPSHOT_TABLESPACE 'REPOSITORY' \
    BASE_LANGUAGE 'ENGLISH' \
    OWB_SERVER_HOME_CHECK_FLAG FALSE \
    USING CREDENTIAL sys/password@REMOTE_SERVER:1521:SERVICE_NAME
This also hangs at the SeedData.xml step by checking the log file created.
Any ideas what might be the problem? I have already been able use OWB Repository Assistant to create a OWB Repository on a remote Windows server.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Few years ago when i was using OWB 9.0.2 , i had similar problem but dont remember what i did to fix it..

  • Repository Assistant fails: Unable to create repository

    Hi,
I have a 10.2.0.4 database, OWB is installed in a separate Oracle Home (10.2.0.4). Both on the same server (RHEL).
When trying to create the Repository using the Repository Assistant I receive the following error after ~5% of the installation:
ORA-06575: Package or function SECURITY_PV_UTILITIES is in an invalid state. This happens during run of the secCreate.sql script. The installation aborts.
I have seen other threads with the same problem but without any solution. (I cannot migrate to 11g)
The installation is for a Runtime Repository.
    During the I selected
    - Advanced Setup
    - Creating the repository for a new user as repository owner
One thing to mention is that during the setup the system does'nt find a 'compatible' Oracle Home. I entered the Oracle Home of the OWB installation which wasn't accepted. Therefore, I pressed the 'Skip'-option. I am not sure whether this is correct.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Reiner Kühl

This is generally caused when something the package relies on is missing in the database.
    1. Drop cascade the following schemas :
    Repository Owner
    OWBRT_SYS user.
    2. Drop the following roles :
    OWBR_<repository owner>
    OWB_A_<repository owner>
    OWB_D_<repository owner>
    OWB_O_<repository owner>
    OWB_<repository owner>
    3. Restart the OWB Repository Assistant:
    a) Create a new Repository
    b) Create a new OWB Target Schema in your existing schema (or create a new target user)
    4. Connect in SQLPLUS as the repository owner and use the OWB_HOME/owb/rtp/sql/service_doctor.sql script to check the status of the Control Center Service.
You can use "NOTE.340196.1 Data Collection Script for Oracle Warehouse Builder" to check the status of the OWB 10.2 environment. It will list invalid objects by schema and type. This script also has a use in your normal backup and recovery plans. It outputs the details of your locations. With that data and your MDL file, you can recreate a repository very quickly. The note is available on Metalink. There is also a note available for OWB 11.1, Note:454044.1
