Owl Orphanage Error

I try to start up Premiere CS4 and I get the infamous Owl Orphanage Error. It says that there's something wrong with handlertitler.dll.
I read another discussion with someone who had a similar problem with PS and someone suggested to delete the said plug-in. However, when I tried it, I couldn't start up the program because the plug-in was missing.
Please help. I beg you.

I would do a Repair Install of PrPro, if Harm's "Prefs trashing" does not work. A Repair Install will survey your installation and will add missing components, and also repair corrupted ones.
To me it's sad, thinking about those poor orphaned owls...
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - not with PrPro, but with another Adobe program, I had to Copy a .dll from another machine, and manually replace it. Even Repair Install (my go to action) kept missing the bad .dll.

  • Owl Orphanage Error (no, I'm NOT kidding!)

I am hoping someone can help me out with this problem!
I have Adobe CS4 with Photoshop v11.0.1 loaded on a Dell Optiplex 755 running WinXP Pro SP3 with 2.66 GHz, 3.25 GB of RAM, 150 GB hard drive. It has been running without issue for a few months now.
Yesterday, when trying to open PS, I had a string of error messages pop up in succession immediately after the "Welcome" screen appeared. As I clicked "OK" (the only option I had) on one, another would appear. This happened NINE times! And, it continues to happen each time I open Photoshop now.
    The error reads:
    Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe Bad Image
The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plugins [add below here] is not a valid Windows Image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
Where the [add below here] is located in the above message, each of the following items comes up (in the order they are listed below) minus the ellipsis at the beginning.
    \Alias.8BI
    \Bigger Tiles.8BX
    \ElectricImage.8BI
    \HSBHSL.8BF
    \JPEG2000.8BI
    \RLA.8BI
    \SGIRGB8BI
    \SoftImage.8BI
    \Texture Fill.8BF
I am baffled, confused, and frustrated! I haven't used Photoshop extensively since this began so I don't know if it is causing other problems within the program or not.
    Anyone with ideas? Any suggestions?
    All input GREATLY appreciated!

Phos...my apologies. I was so focused on making sure that I included all of my OS info and the details of the errors I forgot to mention that I had already searched the other threads. I sincerely hope the tone of my response was not offensive. It wasn't meant that way. Just my frustration coming out.
Steve...THANK YOU! I did delete these from the plug-ins folder and this corrected the problem. What I don't understand is where they came from?!? I haven't loaded anything onto the computer and the only difference from the last successful launch to the first unsuccessful one was that I began working with Dreamweaver a bit as I prepare to transition from GoLive to DW. The DW program was already on the computer though as the entire Design Premium suite was loaded at the same time.
My sincerest thanks to you both for your assistance.

  • Owl orphanage error message

I installed CS5 and everything was working well until I added an Additional Plug-in File in the preferences. Now I get this error message. I believe it is being caused by a bad plugin-in but I cannot figure how to diagnose and remove theptoblem. Can you please help me?
Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found
    The procedure entry point ?append@String@ScCore@@QAEXPBD@Z
could not be located in the dynamic link library ScCore.dll.

And what plug-in path did you add? Simply remove it again. Many CS4 plug-ins will be compatible, but certainly some require specific CS5 updates. Just the way it is. instead of using an additional path, I would also duplicate the plug-ins and copy them in the CS5 folder one by one. Deleting and adding them selectively is the only way to find out which ones are compatible...

  • "Owl Orphanage" error in Dreamweaver CS5 - ordinal not found

About 3 weeks ago, I started getting this dialog box whenever I start Dreamweaver CS5:
For the sake of search engines, it says
Owl Orphanage: Dreamweaver.exe - Ordinal Not Found
The ordinal 3712 could not be located in the dynamic link library LIBEAY32.dll.
When I click the X or the OK button, the dialog goes away and pops up again immediately. When I click X or OK a second time, Dreamweaver starts normally.
I just reinstalled Dreamweaver, and the problem persists. I haven't yet resorted to uninstalling all of CS5 and reinstalling it, but that's the next step.
Can someone explain what's going on (including why I've been running Dreamweaver for years with no problems and then this suddenly starts happening), and is there a fix for this? Thank you.

That's very good information to know - thank you. Unfortunately it doesn't help much since I'm at the mercy of AMD for graphics drivers. But at least I can report this to them, maybe they'll fix it.

  • Owl Orphanage Error loading CS5 32-bit

After successfully loading Photoshop  CS5 several times this morning, I suddenly started getting this error upon loading:
Any idea what would have caused that and more importantly, how to get RID of it?
    Bob

Yep, I'd added OnOne Phototools 1.0.3 and that messed it up.
When I reloaded just the 1.0 version it works without the error.
    Go figure.

  • PS CS4 opening error message: OWL Orphanage

Had no problem installing the PS CS4 (update from CS3). On opening PS the first time, and every time after, I receive an error message:
"OWL Orphanage: Photoshop.exe - entry point not found."
This is followed by a bunch of numbers or addresses. After I shut the message, the program opens normally, and as farr as I've explored it, functions OK. Haven't had time to really explore things.
Any idea what is producing this message?
    Am running Win XP SP3.
    J. Lipmanson

    Found It!!
    Ender and Fred:
Didn't get to try Fred's suggestion as Ender's gave me another idea that fixed the problem -- although it's actually a work-around, and this is a bug.
Ender you said to move the CS3 plugins folder. I didn't know if that was a typo or not, so I tried it with both the CS3 and CS4 plugins. Neither did anything, but I got no additional error messages, just the usual OWL error.
I decided to try Fred's suggestion of eliminating the Preferences so opened them up to record my current settings. On a hunch I unchecked my Additional Plug-ins folder, which is on my second drive, D. I do this because I got tired of losing or copying or installing all my own plugins when I went to a new version. In CS3 I use the same additional plugins setting and there is no problem.
When I unchecked the Additional Plugins folder, the message disappeared. Don't know if the problem is that the additional folder is on another drive or if it's because some of my plugins are incompatible with CS4. This is a bug.
Fred - To answer your questions, I do not have any of the suites. I have standalone PS/Bridge and Lightroom. I also have the full Adobe Acrobat. When I first loaded PS-CS4 from the installer I immediately set my preferences, and yes, I did set the scratch disk. I also set the additional plugins folder. The second time I loaded PS was after a reboot, and the error message appeared for the first time.

  • Owl Orphanage Photoshop exe msvcp 110 error message

I just returned from holidays and fired up my computer only to find that for some reason, photoshop cs 5.1 could not be accessed. The error message read "Owl orphanage Photoshop exe. Msvcp 110:dll System error. I used the program the night before leaving and am at a loss as to what happened. I am new to the technical stuff so any help would be appreciated.

    Yes, you have plugins installed.
That error only comes from some third party plugins.
And the MSVCDP100.dll error comes specifically from Nik/Google plugins that did an auto update recently (and botched it).

  • PS CS5, Owl Orphange Error Message

    Hello Everyone.
I am currently a Photoshop CC user, but I opened My Photoshop CS5, and I get this error message.
    Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe-System Error
Would you please look at my screen-shot..
    Thanks.

I received a very similar message to this when trying to open Adobe Photoshop CCS5. This forum indicated that the problem might be related to On1 software, and they were right. If you have On! software this may be the root of your problem.
I updated from On1's Perfect Photo Suite 8 to Perfect Photo Suite 9 only to discover that Perfect Photo Suite 9 does not link automatically to CS5 so I retained the Perfect Photo Suite 8 as well. I looked up the error message on the On1 web page. The resolution to my problem was to go open CS5 and go to preferences - Plug ins. In this screen I unchecked the box labeled Additional Plug-Ins Folder: that would have linked to the On1 Perfect Photo Suite 9. I then closed CS5. This has resolved the problem. Hope this is helpful!

  • Owl Orphanage - what happened?

Today I opend PS CS5 on Win 7 64 bit and got this message:
owl orphanage: Photoshop.exe - System error
The program can't start because d3dx9_43.dll is missing from your computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
OK, I'll do that when I'm back home. But I still want to know why this dll simply diappeared from my computer?
and then... I ignored the error, PS opend and for a time everything worked just fine despite the missing dll. now i wanted to use a simple brush (50 px 100% hardness) to create a mask and all i get is little saturn images????
    any ideas why?
Sorry, i would post images but somehow it doesn't work

    Hi Chris,
I have only one plug-in installed and that's the NVIDIA Normal Map Filter (Win7 64Bit). I tried to deinstall that but I keep getting errors and it won't deinstall. I reinstalled both Photoshop CS4 and CS5 (though CS4 runs OK) and the Owl Orphanage message keeps coming.
It may be connected with the NVIDIA Normal Map Filter plug-in. But I did some research on the Owl Orphanage and found related bug reports for CS4 from 2008, so this is a Photoshop issue.
I can very well work with CS4, so it's no big deal for me. But it's a bit annoying when I accidentally open CS5 (most of my pictures are pointed to that).

  • Os windows 7 trying to install PhotoKit 2.06 in CS4 getting 'Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe - Bad Image. Have tried downloading Photokit from a different source - same problem. How can I get this to install please?

Has anyone had a problem installing PhotoKit 2.06 in CS4? I keep getting 'Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe Bad Image. I have tried installation files from 2 different sources without success. Pixel Genius suggested dropping the unzipped files directly into Plug-ins -  that didn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Peter
I am in touch with Pixel Genius, the plug-in developer, and so far ( this has been going on for 5 days) a solution has not been forthcoming, hence my post. The required files are shown in Windows Explorer but will not load when I fire up CS4. Previously, I ran version 1.2.4 of PhotoKIt without a problem but that was uninstalled to make way for the latest software. Pixel Genius have asked me to open up CS4 Help, System info, and send it to them which I have done. I wait in hope!

  • PSCS4: Owl Orphanage Message

I have just installed PSCS4. The first time or two it launched without a hitch. Now when I launch it I get two messages before it is apparently stable. The first message is: "Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe unable to locate command. This application failed to start because CoreFoundation.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." Click OK to acknowledge this message three times and the following message appears. "Could not load MMX Core Routines module because it does not work with this version of Photoshop." Acknowledge this message once and Photoshop CS4 loads apparently OK.
I reran the installation and still get the same messages.
I am running WindowsXPSP3 on an Intel Core2Duo. Photoshop CS3 is also installed on this machine. I have no problems with it. Can anyone tell me about this and how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance.

You're right. I did point the secondary plug-in to my CS3 installation. I removed the pointer and all is well. Thank you for spotting it. I've also spent the morning updating my plug-ins.

  • Error message Owl Orphanage : Photoshop:exe-Bad Image

I am having this error with Adobe Photoshop CS5.
With reading other posts I found an answer to this same question posted - except with CS4.
It mentioned the Plug-in folder and 32 bit and 64 bit. Here is where I get confused.
I pulled plug-ins over from CS3 and put them into my CS5 plug in folder, Is that where the problem came from. How do I now clean up my mess?
I have no idea how to tell what goes with 32 bit and what goes with 64bit....You could say, I don't know my bits and you would be right. LOL
Please help. I have benn ignoring it for almost a year now.
    c.sewick

Here's a reference list of the original files under the plug-ins folder that came with Photoshop CS5 32 bit.  Note that if you've applied the updates some of the dates/sizes may be different.  But you really only need the names to know whether a file has been copied by you.
    http://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/temp/PhotoshopCS532BitPlugIns.zip
Let me know if you need a listing of the 64 bit files (i.e., if you're running a 64 bit Windows system).

  • What is 'Owl Orphanage-PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe - System Error?

I manually loaded some filter plug-ins, then began getting this message error when the Editor was loading.  I can click 'OK' about 10 times and Editor will eventually load.  The message says 'The program can't start because MSVCRT10.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem'.  I reinstalled PSE8 and I still get the message.  I'm also afraid that the problem is damaging files in an external harddrive (I'm getting a new message with the external harddrive that says some files may be corrupted and it needs to be checked).  Anyone have an idea where to go to find the 'MSVCRT10.dll' file and what to do with it?
    Thanks!!

One of the older plugins that you manually installed uses the MSVCRT10.dll. You might have one on your PSE installation disc in the goodies folder. If you have an optional filters folder on the disc, it would most likely be in that one.
If it's not in that folder, you can often find it on sites that offer freebie plugin filters.
Here is one link with clear easy to follow instructions on where to put the MSVCRT10.dll file for both 32 bit and 64 bit OS along with a download link to the file. You only need to read Step 1.
    http://thepluginsite.com/products/picopro/tutorials/makework.htm
There's a freebie filter called Impressionist by Trimoon that includes the MSVCRT.DLL in the zip file. It's a really cool filter that is worth downloading if you like doing art type effects.
