Own video

i am trying to import my own video files from my digital camera to intunes and then hopefully onto my ipod (80gb)but i keep getting an error message saying the file is not a valid exported file. is there anyway around this?

iTunes only supports certain video formats, Mainly MPEG4. SInce I don't know what type of digital camera you have, Id suggest using the software that came with it or the software the Digital camera maker recommends using with your model to import/copy the video to your PC.
Once on the PC, you should be able to then import it into itunes or convert it in a format itunes supports.
A good place to start with video issues/questions with itunes and the ipod is here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302758
Not to be to nosy but can you tell us the make/model of digital camera you have or does the manual tell you what format the digital video is recorded and exported in?

  • I can't get my own videos in iTunes 6

I just bought the new iPod video 30GB, and downloaded the new version is iTunes (v. 6) for my PC, and i am trying to import my own videos (yes, they are mpeg 4, so i know they are compatible with iTunes 6 and my new iPod). I found an article that said drag-and-drop is the way to transfer your own videos to iTunes, but that isn't working. There is no option or menu that asks which folder i want my videos from (like you can do with photos in the preferences menu). I tried calling Applecare, and they want to charge me because their own FREE product doesn't work. Does anybody know how to work this, or encountered this problem?

I found the answer to my own problem, and probably yours as well. I knew ahead of time that the new iPod video would only be able to play mpeg 4 videos (or quicktime videos), and i could've sworn these were mpeg, but they were .wmv instead.. so i found another discussion that suggested using Nero 2 to change the format to mpeg4, and that worked! i changed the format for all my little videos in no time using Nero 2 (downloaded from download.com), and now dragging and dropping still doesn't work, but i found out the answer again: create a folder specific for all your little videos, then go to File >> Add Folder to Library... and then select your folder. It will automatically put all your new mpeg4 videos in the video portion of iTunes and update to your iPod accordingly... now my only problem is my new mpeg4 videos look like UTTER CRAP on my iPod... if i fix that problem i will get back to .. me.. on that...

  • Own Videos on New Apple TV

Can you put your own videos on the new Apple TV?

It's worth clarifying that not everything that plays in iTunes automatically plays on AppleTV.
Video files in particular have to be in an AppleTV compatible format which for most purposes will mean h264 encoding.
I suggest the OP checks the specs here under video formats:
    http://www.apple.com/appletv/specs.html
You can often right click on an incompatible file in iTunes and get it to convert it to h264 format but the process can be time consuming.

Why can't you do this? There's plenty of third-party software that can do the job. Download a few from
MacUpdate or CNET Downloads and try them out before choosing one to purchase.

  • HT4859 can i store my own videos in apple icloud?

if i can store my own videos, then can delete them in future?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
I'm sorry, but you can't store videos in iCloud, unless you make them with iPhones, iPads and iPods touch, and you are backing them up in iCloud, but you can't do that in Mac because there aren't any video apps for Mac OS X which support iCloud

  • Can't able to syn own videos iPhone using the new version of iTunes 12.0.1

Can't able to syn own videos to iPhone using the new version of iTunes 12.0.1

    Hi Hamedkhan,
Happy New Year!  The resources below will show you how to sync your home videos to your iPhone using iTunes 12 for Windows:
iTunes 12 for Windows: Syncing overview
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH20342?viewlocale=en_US
    Do I have to sync?
If you have iPod classic, iPod nano, or iPod shuffle: You have to sync your device with iTunes. There’s no other way to add content to it.
If you have an iOS device (iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad): You only need to sync your device with iTunes if you want to:
Add your iTunes playlists to your device (unless you subscribe to iTunes Match)
Add your own videos to your device
Add photos, contacts, and calendars to your device (if you don’t use iCloud)
Remove previously synced items from your device
If you prefer not to sync, you don’t have to: you can download items from the iTunes Store directly to your device, and—if you have a free iCloud account—use iCloud to make sure items like your photos, contact, and calendars are on both your computer and device.
iTunes 12 for Windows: Sync iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH20343?viewlocale=en_US
iTunes 12 for Windows: Sync iPod, iPhone, or iPad
To add items on your computer to your iPod, iPhone, or iPad, you sync them using iTunes. You can have iTunes sync items automatically (which is the quickest option), or drag items to your device manually (which gives you more control)—or you can do both. You can also remove items from your device automatically or manually.
For more information about syncing, see Syncing overview.
    Select items to sync automatically
Connect your device to your computer and click the device button near the top left of the iTunes window.
Select the type of content you want to sync (for example, Music or Apps) in the sidebar on the left.
Select the Sync checkbox, then select the items you want to sync automatically each time you connect your device.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each type of content you want to include on your device.
The bar at the bottom of the window shows how much space will remain on your device after you sync.
By default, iTunes syncs your device whenever you connect it to your computer. If you want to have iTunes ask you before syncing, do one of the following:
Require a prompt before syncing this device: Click Summary, then deselect “Open iTunes when this [device] is connected.”
Require a prompt before syncing all devices: Choose Edit > Preferences, click Devices, and select “Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.”
When you’re ready to sync, click Apply.
Tip:    To automatically sync a connected device at any time, choose File > Devices > Sync [device name].
WARNING:    If you delete an automatically synced item from your iTunes library, the deleted item is removed from your device the next time you sync.
Add items to your device manually
You can manually add music, movies, TV shows, apps, podcasts, and iTunes U lessons to your device. You can’t manually add photos, books, contacts, or other info.
Make sure your device is connected.
From anywhere in your iTunes library, begin dragging the items you want to add.
A pane with a list of connected devices appears on the left.
Drag the items to your device in the list until a blue border appears.
The items are added to your device.
Keep items from being automatically synced
If there are some items you never want synced (for example, if they’re too big to fit on your device), you can keep them from being synced.
You can also turn off automatic syncing for music, movies, and TV shows. You must do this if you want to sync iPod classic, iPod nano, or iPod shuffle with more than one iTunes library, or automatically fill your device with songs using Autofill (see the next task, below).
Connect your device to your computer.
Click the device button, then click Summary.
    Do any of the following:
Keep individual items from being synced: Select “Sync only checked [items].” Then, deselect the checkbox next to any items in your iTunes library that you don’t want synced.
Turn off automatic syncing for music, movies, and TV shows: Select “Manually manage music and videos.”
    Click Apply.
Fill your device with a random selection of songs using Autofill
If you don’t want to always hear the same music on your device, you can have iTunes fill it with a random selection of songs by using Autofill.
To use Autofill, you must turn off automatic syncing for music and videos (see instructions above).
Connect your device to your computer and click the device button near the top left of the iTunes window.
    Click On My Device.
Select Music in the sidebar on the left.
Choose which songs you want to sync from the Autofill pop-up menu at the bottom of the Music pane.
To adjust Autofill settings, click Settings.
    When you’re done, click OK.
    Click Autofill, then click Sync.
Each time you use Autofill, iTunes adds different songs to your device.
    Remove items from your device
Make sure your device is connected, then do one of the following:
Remove an item that was synced automatically: Do any of the following, then sync your device:
Deselect the checkbox for the item in your iTunes library, and select “Sync only checked [items]” in the Summary pane.
If the item was added because it’s part of a synced playlist, remove the item from the playlist.
Change your sync settings to keep the item from being synced.
Remove an item that was added manually or using Autofill: Click On My Device, select an item (or items), press the Delete key, and click Delete.
The types of content you can sync depends on your device. For more information, see the documentation for your device.
You can sync multiple devices with your iTunes library, and use different settings for each device.
Important:    Before disconnecting iPod classic, iPod nano, or iPod shuffle from your computer, click the Eject button .
    Sync and organize iOS apps
Add photos to iPod, iPhone, or iPad
Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad

  • Cloud icon on own videos

Since I enabled iTunes Match there has been cloud icons inmost of my videos and movies. The problem here is most movies and videos are not purchase through the itunes Sotre and some are filmed by myself.
I understand the purchased videosshould have a cloud icon but what about my own videos? Why is that?
If I go to the music ection and then to songs I can look at the iTunes Match status and those videos are clearly classified as not qualified. As far as I know there is not the posibility to upload your own videos to the cloud so... why?

Go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores and set "use cellular data" to ON (green) then power cycle your iPhone. Also, make sure the initial scan, match and upload process is finished in iTunes. Not all music will be available on iOS devices until this initial scan is complete.

  • Is there any way to transfer a video off of Facebook into my own video/camera roll?.......I got new service but didn't get to back up my phone so I lost a few videos, but they're uploaded to my Facebook and I wanted to get them back to my phone

Is there any way to transfer a video off of Facebook into my own video/camera roll?.......I got new service but didn't get to back up my phone so I lost a few videos, but they're uploaded to my Facebook and I wanted to get them back to my phone

No, but you can save a photo on FaceBook.
Try downloading/saving the video from FaceBook on your computer. If successful, after doing so you can transfer the video to your iPhone along with any photos on your computer or alone. They transfer won't be in the Camera Roll, it will be in your iPhone's Photo Library.

You load them into iTunes and then sync them to your iPad. You'll then find them in the Video app. For detailed information, consult the iPad User Guide; the sections on Synching and Videos will be most applicable. Then if you have specific questions, post back and we can help further.
