Ownership percentage aggregation

Greetings to All,
I am new to HFM and I have a doubt on ownership % aggregation while performing consolidation. Situation like below.
Parent entity “A” has 70% ownership on it’s child entity “Aa” and we have given the same percentage for ownership while defining consolidation methods. As per my knowledge, consolidation is the sum of ownership and minority interest. In this situation how much percentage will aggregate from child entity “Aa” to parent entity “A” in consolidation?
Could you please help me on this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi 809483,
If your HFM application is configured to use Default Consolidation.
Then changing the Entity Aa [PCON] to 70 and [POWN] to 70 will result in 70% of the amount loaded in Aa to be consolidated into A. For Example if Aa had 100 USD on consolidation A would aggregate 70 USD.
PMIN will be automatically calculated as PCON - POWN
From what you've described it sounds like your HFM application is set up to perform consolidations for full and part-owned subsidiaries.
IF your HFM application has been created to perform consolidations for full and part-owned subsidiaries with defined Methods of Consolidation and specific Consolidation Rules for treating these methods. Then your results may vary depending on factors such as:
- How is 'Controlling Interest' determined?
- How are the Methods applied during Consolidation?
- How is ICP for each subsidiary treated?
- How will retained earnings into Pre and Post-Acquisition Reserves be treated?
- etc.
Depending how this data is captured and to what degree often determines the configuration of HFM Consolidaiton Methods and Rules.
Hope this helps.

  • WebI aggregation on top of BW query

    Hi,
I'm having problems with aggregated values shown on WebI when using percentage values.
    As an example:
                                                                           Actual 3    Actual 2    %
                                                                          jan-09       jan-08       R3 - R2
Product type              Sales office                                feb-09       feb-08
    VINO                         ALIM. BALEARS                            789          1822         -56
    VINO                         ALIMENT. ANDALUCIA                       362          1000         -63
    VINO                         ALIMENT. BARCELONA                       745           830          -10
    (...extra rows suppressed...)
If I remove Sales office on report design, report shows this information:
                                                                    Actual 3    Actual 2    %
                                                                    jan-09       jan-08        R3 - R2
    Product type                                             feb-09        feb-08
    VINO                                                        90123       125316      -699
So, percentage aggregation is doing a summation instead of an average.
I can't change universe aggregation because we're using the same measure on the 3 columns (it's a calculation on BW).
And the three columns are values belonging to the same dimension (they are dimension values), so how could I use a new measure only for the third column?+
    Any more workarounds?
    Thanks and best regards,
    David.

    David,
My advise would be to not use the calculation for percentage defined within the BW query. The query in Webi is executed only once. If you remove an object from your report the BW query is not executed again, but Webi is just aggregating based on the setting of the object in the universe (in this case it summerizes the percentages).
It would be better to define a variable with the calculation of the percentage in Webi itself. Then no matter what objects you put in the report the variable is recalculated at any level.

  • HFM: Intercompany Data and Ownership Mgmt

    Hello All,
My below doubt is for HFM, though i have posted it in correct thread of HFM still posting it here for more better responses. Apologies for inconvenience.
I was going through the file format example of Interccompany data present in user's guide which is as below:
    !SCENARIO=Actual
    !YEAR=2009
    !PERIOD=January
    !DECIMAL=.
    !THOUSAND_SEPARATOR=,
    INTERCOMPANY DETAIL
    COLUMN_ORDER=ENTITY;PARTNER;ACCOUNT;C1;C2;C3;C4;TRANSID;SUBID;DATE;TRANSCUR
    R;TRANSAMT;ENTCURRAMT;RATE;REFID;COMMENT1;COMMENT2
    China;France;ICPay;[None];[None];[None];[None];DE124;08/10/06;EUR;2000;
    8000;Ref123;Text1234;Text9995
    China;France;ICPurch;[None];[None];[None];[None];BX3212;08/12/06;EUR;2500;
    10000; ;Text2345;Text8984
    China;Germany;ICRef;[None];[None];[None];[None];AC4345;08/15/06;EUR;1700;
    6970;ABC12;Text2323;Text9232
    Now my doubt is
    1) Where are the dimensiion VIEW, VALUE and ICP members are present. In other words at what members of VIEW, VALUE and ICP dimension this data is loaded?
    2) Does this data automatically populate the data in [Elimination] member of Value dimension against members of other dimension present in the file example above?
When we load data in ownership management in PCON
    3) Does it mean we are loading data in [Proportion] member of value dimension.
    4) What is the relationship between PCON, POWN, PMIN?
    5) At what combination of other dimensions these values PCON, POWN, PMIN stores?
    6) [Contribution] member automatically calculated based on [Elimination] and [Proportion] ??
I have recently started working on HFM, so struggling initially in basic concepts. Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ashu

I'm telling you the little i know since this is an Essbase forum:
PCON- Percent consolidation (the percentage the entity consolidates into its parent)
POWN- Percent Ownership (ownership percentage based on the entities shares)
PMIN- Percentage Minority (calculation resulting from PCON-PWON
POWN represents the percentage of an entity's non-voting shares that other entities own, directly or indirectly.
PCON- The system uses the methods defined in the Consolidation Method metadata table to determine the percent consolidation to apply for each entity.
PMIN- System calculated. HFM will base the remaining percentage from the POWN to produce this.

  • Defining sub-group with Ownership application

    Hello,
I'd like to set up this consolidation :
    1st group :
    C_NEZONE (dimension « Groups » entity = NEZONE)
    |____USA
    |____japan
    2cd group :
    C_EZONE (dimension « Groups » entity = EZONE)
    |____France
    |____Italy
And I finaly need a consolidation to C_CGGROUP
    C_CGGROUP
    |____C_NEZONE (partially owned by C_CGGROUP : proportional method)
    |____C_EZONE
    As
1 - C_NEZONE and C_EZONE are,of course, members of the "Groups" dimension, it's not possible to attach them as child of C_CGROUP.
2 - The consolidation engine calculation, generates only values on the entity members concerned by the consolidation process (France, Italy...) and not on the "parent" members (EZONE or NEZONE in my example).
How can I set up thas kind of consolidation ? Using the PARENT_GROUP property of the groups dimension can only perform a 100% consolidation.
    Thank you

    Pascal,
You need to setup three group members:
    - C_NEZONE (parent_group = C_CGGROUP)
    - C_EZONE (parent_group = C_CGGROUP)
    - C_CGGROUP (this group may NOT be a parentmember itself)
These groups need to get the ultimate ownership percentages, this should then something be like this:
    group C_NEZONE
    USA - 100%, method 86
    JAPAN - 100%, method 86
    group C_EZONE
    France - 100%, method 86
    Italy - 100%, method 86
    group C_CGGROUP
    USA - 50%, method 70
    JAPAN - 50%, method 70
    France - 100%, method 86
    Italy - 100%, method 86
    Method:
    86 = global
    70 = proportional
So the trick is to enter the ultimate ownership percentages for the flat groups dimension.
BPC also contains a method of calculating the ultimate ownership percentages, but I don't have experience with this tool, I always advice my customers to enter them manually because this gives them complete control of the consoldation, and you can ofcourse copy the ownership from the previous period to the current period.
    Hope this helps,
    Alwin Berkhout

  • SAP BPC 7.5 SP04 POWN - PCON and POWND

    Hi experts,
I begging the development of COI, but all the HTG about the subject is on version 7.0, we are using the 7.5 with the DHE, and the input of percent is on a automatic standard screen in Excel, so with this some query appears:
    1 - Where is the POWND ?
2 - What is the difference of POWN and PCON ? Could you give more concepts than we have below ?
A member named POWN that stores the percent of ownership or control if it is applied
A member named POWND that stores the percent of ownership or control calculated with the direct share method
A member named METHOD that stores the consolidation method
A member named PCON that stores the percent of consolidation
3 - What is the difference between the Proportional and the Equity ? Is the proportional for the cases we use subsidiaries ownership below in a parent of the group and the equity is for the cases we use percent of control below the 0,5 and above 0,2 ? I think the direct share we use the global, correct ?
    Best Regards
    Alexandre Mendoza Collepicolo

    1 - Where is the POWND ?
POWND is the account that the system writes to when you execute ownership calculation using the direct method (versus group)
2 - What is the difference of POWN and PCON ? Could you give more concepts than we have below ?
POWN is the actual ownership percentage.  PCON can be left blank provided you do not have split ownership
3 - What is the difference between the Proportional and the Equity ? Is the proportional for the cases we use subsidiaries ownership below in a parent of the group and the equity is for the cases we use percent of control below the 0,5 and above 0,2 ? I think the direct share we use the global, correct ?
Proportional and Equity are 2 different methods of accounting consolidation.  Too detailed to be described here.
    All the best

  • Error when running consolidation

    Hi,
I am running a legal consolidation with this script logic:
    *RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
          CATEGORY = %CATEGORY_SET%
          GROUP = %CONSOLVIEW_SET%
          TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
          RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
    *RUN_PROGRAM CONSOLIDATION
              CATEGORY = %CATEGORY_SET%
              GROUP = %CONSOLVIEW_SET%
              TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
However, on executing the package I get an error:
RUN_LOGIC:Accounts not found in application COWNERSHIP
COWNERSHIP is the ownership cube but it does have an account type dimension (called OWNACCOUNT).
    Has anyone seen this before?
    Thanks,
    Arnold

    Hi,
Are you maintained data in Ownership application? If yes, check OWNACCOUNT contains data or not?
OWNACCOUNT should be maintained as below:
    METHOD        Consolidation Method
    PCON             Controlling Percentage
    PGROUP        PGROUP
    POWN           Ownership Percentage
    hope it helps...

  • Joint Venture Associate Consolidation Translation Question

    Hi All,
I have two problems with our Joint Venture/Associate Entities and the way they translate/consolidate in HFM which I would appreciate some input on if anyone can help:
    1. Our implementation of HFM is YTD and each period that period's ownership percentage is applied to the whole YTD balance of the P&L which doesn't account for period on period ownership changes. I believe I can overcome this by forcing HFM to think periodically with closing/opening balances and the consolidation rules but does anyone have a neat/best practice way of doing this?
    2. We have movement tables on our Balance Sheet accounts so the consolidation of the JV/Associate's P&L to the Balance Sheet for the parent works on a YTD movement basis, forming the year's closing balance which rolls forward to the opening balance in the next year. This all happens at the Node at [Proportion] and [Contribution]. I need to find a way to make sure that the consolidated amounts are at the current period's closing rate by adjusting the opening balance. I can't see a way of doing this as I don’t think there is a concept of the <Entity Currency> balance at this level.  Any thoughts on this?  I can think of some really messy roundabout ways of doing this but am again wondering if anyone has already worked this through and come up with a neat/best practice way.
Thanks in advance for any input!

    Hi there,
Do you use the default consolidation rules or you have written your own custom rules?
If it is custom rules then both questions can be easily fixed.

    Hi Nilanjan
I checked this link and is correct, and I can save changes in DHE, my doubt is ?
should I enter Ownership like this?:
    ENTITY --- INTCO --- CURRENCY --- ACCOUNT -- CATEGORY -- TIME              SIGNEDDATA
    S100        IC_2000     LC              POWN                    REAL           2010.009       0.80
and then should I run package Calculate Ownership? (Which is the function  of this package?)
because when I´m using DHE, the data looks like this
    ENTITY --- INTCO --- CURRENCY --- ACCOUNT -- CATEGORY --         TIME                       SIGNEDDATA
    S1000        IC_NONE     CG1                METHOD          REAL                  2010.009                      90

    S2000        IC_NONE     CG1                PCON              REAL                  2010.009                           1
    S1000        IC_NONE     CG1                PGROUP          REAL                  2010.009                      1
    S2000        IC_NONE     CG1                PGROUP          REAL                  2010.009                      0.8
you can see the INTCO is IC_NONE in all records

    Hi,
I have  prepared following script for BPC 7.0 MS Version for eliminating all the amounts in IC accounts irrespective of having Trading partner value. All the IC accounts are marked with property called ELIMACC with value of ICBAL OR ICdiff. But this script is not eliminating the values without TP.

  • Lega consolidation package error

    Hi experts,
We are executing the legal consolidation package and we get next error:
"Accounts and entities do not match data in application OWNERSHIP failed"
We have entered the ownershipdata, but the "ultimate ownership calculation" package did nothing, so we guess that is the problem.
Did it happen to anybody? How can we solve the problem?
    Regards.

    David and Jorge,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
Yes, we followed the procedure decribed in the How To Paper on NW Consolidation.
I will create the message tomorrow. Strange, that there is still no reply from SAP to your message. It is time to escalate the issue.
Were you able to run calculation of Group Shares (CALCOWN) before execution of the Consolidation Package?
There are various sources of information on the function:
    On the help.sap.com
"The calculation of PCTRL in the business rule table is supported as same as itu2019s in BPC5.1, however the automatic calculation scripts of PCTRL (% of control) from investor/investee ownership percentage is not supported in the BPC 7.0 version for NetWeaver, so This means the user mustneed manually input the PCTRL % into the ownership application in order to use it for further calculations."
    How To Paper
Step4: Run the pre-delivered DM package u201CCalculate Ultimate Ownershipu201D to calculate the ultimate ownership that how much each consolidation group own on each entity. As a result that write back after calculation, the ultimate ownership is stored under the member  u201CI_NONEu201D of IntCo dimension, and POWN, PGROUP, METHOD member has the group-own-entity value
    described above.
    Traing Materials:
Ultimate ownership is a function for legal consolidation used to perform certain calculations used by he application (primarily in regard to calculating the group share of a subsidiary). This information is needed by the business rule library to
properly consolidate the operations of various subsidiaries in accordance with GAAP.
Customers may decide to also enter the direct and indirect pown values instead of having the system derive them.
The concusion is that we can enter Group POWN data manually. We can execute the function, we get a message "Could not write the transaction data successfully. No data found.' Do you have the same problem?
The second question is whether we need to enter PCTRL?
    Best regards,
    Mila

    Hi Friends,
I have the requirement to design a consolidation application.
I am confusing with currency and group dimension in the latest version BPC 7.5

    1)    ABC COMP  (USD)   having 2 subsidaries  2 and 3
    2)  DEF COMP (USD) (100%)         3)IJK COMP (USD) (65%)  and 3 having 2 subsidaries 3A AND 3B
3A) LM COMP,  3B)  NO COMP (USD)
my problem is how to design a group and entity dimension for the above sturcture,
can i use Group dimension for maintaining OWNERSHIP Percentages.
    For ENTITY DIM....
    ENTITY  DESC                   INTCO      CURR   PARENTH1
    C100    ABC COMP          I_C100      USD

    C500    NO COMP             I_C500      USD
[HOW TO DEFINE A PARENTH1 FOR THE ABOVE]
how to define a Group dimension can i take into a single group CG1 or ?
if i take into single group how to assign a Percentages in ownership application.
please give me the guidelines for the above, its having only single currency(USD) do i need to do currency translation or not?

It sounds like you were running a second display in extended desktop mode.
If the adapter and/or cable for the second monitor is still attached, it can fool the Mac into believing the second monitor is still present. Detaching that cable/adaptr and then restarting should fix it.
You can also try going to System Preferences > Monitors and change the setup from extended mode to mirror mode.

  • SPRUNCONSO with 0% in POWN

I have set up the rule to calculate POWN in Group and 1-POWN in
Minority. This works fine where the ownership percentage is not 0%.
We have however, some entities with 0% ownership in one of the
ConsolViews. This results in values being computed - 0% in the Group
account and 100% in the Minority account. The client however, does not
want any account values where ownership is 0%. What is the most
    effective way to achieve this?
To illustrate further: Entity X has 80% POWN in Consolview 1, but 0% POWN in Consolview 2. How do I set up the business rule so that no values show up in Consolview 2?
    thanks.

If the ownership is 0%, then this entity should be excluded from the consolidation scope entirely, correct? I would think if you leave the METHOD blank that should fix the problem.
If you've already set a method to a value other than 0, change it to zero. Once you do a full optimize & compress on your ownership application, the zero will be removed and it will be treated as a null value.

  • Minority Interest in HFM

    Guys
We are using custom logic to calculate minority interest (not using PCON,POWN or PMIN). We are capturing the ownership percentage in certain accounts thru the web forms and using this info in rules to calculate minority interest.  This calculation executes at entity currency, at base level entity and translates into USD as part of standard HFM translation.
We are running into issues where minority interest entity belongs to foreign entity (not same as reporting currency entity)
It works fine for P&L but does not work correctly for balance sheet as we have two different rates for these.
Is there any better way to handle this ?
    Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Venkat,
Any particular reason why you are using calculation rules in order to do this? Minority interest as such in my view is a consolidation specific calculation which you normally calculate in the consolidation itself, not so much in the calculation routine. Wirh regards to the ownership percentage and such, this is normally done in the ownership module which is default functionality of HFM. Have you turned consolidation rules on or off?

  • BPC 7.5 NW SP06 - Audit changes made in DHE

    Hello Experts,
As part of our month end process, we sometimes have to make changes in the DHE (change organization hierarchies, ownership percentages, etc).
I would like to know if there is a way in BPC Web Admin to track these changes using the Data audit or the Activity audit feature.  I looked in the Web Admin (under both the Manage Activity Audit and Manage Data Audit) for my "Ownership" application, but was not able to figure it out.  It would be really helpful if you can provide me some guidance in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Van.

    Any takers please?

    Hi Oleksandr,
Suddenly you could help me a little more and give me some guidance on how to run the package "OWNERSHIPCALC".
If I put the option: "Calculate Ultimate% Share Ownership by Group Method"
