P-ATA S-ATA whats the right setting

I just got a 865PE NEo2-V and trying to set the BIOS the right way.
I have 2 SATA discs and 3 IDE and a DVD.
I want XP installed on one of the SATA discs and finally made it so.
But the settings in the BIOS puzzles me, what is the right settings for the SATA disc.
I wonder because i takes way to long to boot up XP now and i think it might have something to do with my set-up for the drives.
To get it to even recognize my IDE drives in BIOS, let alone in XP i haft to have this set-up >>
On-Chip ATA(s) Operate Mode: Native Mode
ATA Configuration P-ATA Only
S-ATA Keep Enabled Yes
P-ATA Keep Enabled No
P-ATA Channel Selection Both
Combined Mode Option (not available)
S-ATA Ports Definition P0-1th. / P1-2nd
If i set it to just S-ATA in the ATA Config option, my IDE wont show up.
If i set it to Legacy Mode in the On-Chip ATA-setting i get it also messed up.
What is the diffrence between all these settings, first of all i dont have P-ATA discs, as far as i know of, second, what is this Legacy and Native settings and can a faulty setting in here cause my slow boot-up for XP??
A other question is if the 6.2 BIOS maybe can fix all this ( I have the 6.1 now) and is it worth the risk updating it to 6.2?
Are there any benifits with it?
.

The setting is correct. However, you can try this:
On-Chip ATA(s) Operate Mode: Native Mode
ATA Configuration S-ATA Only
S-ATA Keep Enabled -
P-ATA Keep Enabled YES
P-ATA Channel Selection Both
Combined Mode Option (not available)
S-ATA Ports Definition P0-3rd. / P1-4th (just dun set them to be the 1st and 2nd...)
In the Boot Device Sequence setup, make sure you put your OS HDD at the first.
Regarding, Legacy or Native, Legacy only allow 2 channels - 4 devices. Native allow you to use all the SATA and IDE ports, give you accessible to 6 (or 8?) devices.
What do you mean you don't have P-ATA discs???! What is the "3 IDE" you mentioned if they were not P-ATA?  fyi,  P-ATA = IDE.
There is nothing wrong and I don't believe 6.2 BIOS did any changes here.
Slow boot up, this is pretty normal to XP when you have plenty of IDE devices.

    Try running the following query:

            statistic# in (38,39,40)

                    'physical reads',
                    'db block gets'
;The you will understand the point the previous answer was making. It's a bad idea to rely on things like the statistic# being consistent across different versions of Oracle - names tend to be safer.
But neither query is correct. If you want any sort of vaguely meaningful "buffer cache hit ratio", you should be quering v$buffer_pool_statistics. See also: Re: Testing of buffer cache reveals these results: and http://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/2007/09/02/hit-ratios/

  • I cannot receive email properly now. When I open mail, it says that is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, it gives me my newest ones. But this takes a long time. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right setting

I cannot receive email properly on either my IPad or my IPhone. I have had them for over a year and they have always worked fine. Until three days ago, when they both started acting up. On the IPad, when I open mail, it says it is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, which takes quite a while to get to, I finally get the most recent ones. The IPad is sending emails just fine.
On my IPhone, when I open mail, it says it is downloading 100 emails, but it doesn't do that. And it gives me no new emails at all. The IPhone is sending email just fine.
I have already deleted the email accounts on both devices and reinstalled them. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right settings. The Outlook email on my desktop is working perfectly.

WMV is a heavily-compressed format/CODEC, and the processing time will depend on several factors:
Your CPU, which is not that powerful in your case
Your I/O sub-system, which is likely a single HDD on your laptop
The source footage. What is your source footage?
Any Effects added to that footage. Do you have any Effects?
Each of those will have an impact on the time required.
The trial has only one main limitation - the watermark. Now, there are some components, that have to be activated, but are not with the trial, but they would be evident with Import of your source footage, if it's an issue.

When you go into the bug tracker, there's a drop down list on your left that says "Arch Linux". Go into there, select "Community Packages", and pres the "switch" button right next to it.

PAL is 720 x 576 pixels interlaced (bottom first).
If it's 16:9 aspect ratio, you need to select "Anamorphic" and the frame rate it 25 fps.
If you need help with Compressor settings - I use Best for everything including re-sizing - processing is slow but the result is excellent.
I believe you can use MPEG Streamclip for converting, but I have not tried it.

  • Does the Left Hand know what the Right Hand is doing?

Along the same lines as this, I scratch my head and wonder how a company as big as AT&T doesn't have more checks and balances?  Where is their quality control?!  Today I received an email from AT&T dated 7/10/2015 (today) saying, in part:Enroll in AutoPay.  Get a $10 Reward Card as our thank you when you enroll in free AutoPay.** If you follow the double-asterisks to the footnote at the bottom, the fine print says:**$10 Card Offer ends 6/30/15. That's verbatim.  The offer expired ten days ago.  Hello... Right Hand, meet Left Hand.

    LOL. That is rediculous.
If you have wireless (cell service) and any home service, you will get the real "left hand, right hand" nightmare. I am referring to combined billing. ATT is 2 companies, combining billing when they operate independently is a mistake. Severing bills is advised.

  • Left hand doesn't know what the right is doing

I ordered fibre optic broadband, tv & phone over 2months ago, after waiting 7weeks, 6 engineering no shows, 3 cancelled orders, 9 million different reasons why is hasn't been done and 3ton of BS - I do have tv and phone but have been given a copper connection that is far to slow for the needs of my home. I was told that the copper connection was only a temp arrangement to get me through until my street cabinet was updated to take fibre optic ( the box is currently inside the boundaries of a live building site and won't be aces sable for at least 8 or more months).
I have since found out from someone in sales, another in customer care and 3 open reach engineers that I CAN have fibre optic but it needs to come from a different "box" and after asking around the street where I live I've found out that no less that 3 other houses have HAD installations of fibre optics that I have been told is unavailable!!! WTF is that all about - if it's unavailable to me then why is it being installed to others in my street??
Since no one in the complaints dept is able to sort this out or even listen to what I have to say I guess I'm just the one who gets shafted with 1year wait for installation.

as you are ordering fibre to cabinet your existing copper line is still used between your home and the street cabinet
it is also possible your cabinet is possibly ful and awaiting upgrade use this checker and post back the results edit out you phone number though http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.TelephoneNumberOutput

  • Have I got the right set-

I'm a VERY new owner of a Zen Touch 40gb. I have bought it because I teach dancing and wanted it to replace my portable stereo that I've borrowed from my daughter and hasn't got too much volume to it. I bought the Creative Megaworks 2. speaker system to go with it and have plugged the player into the speakers via the headphone socket and it sounds quite loud when you've got the volume up on the player. I am wondering, though if this is going to be powerful enough to play in a community hall and also if I can connect a head-michrophone to it as well. Can anybody give me any guidance on these matters, please.

Well, it really depends on the power (wattage) of the speaker system that you intend to connect the player to, and also how big the area is that you want to fill with sound. I can't guarantee that your potable sound system will be sufficient for the task. It maybe wise to use a bigger stereo system (with a line-in input) so that you can plug players output into the amplifier.
I used my player in a large hall awhile back and used a separate amplifier and speakers, this did the trick but if the area is rather large and then when full I would recommend that you use something with a bit more power (25 Watts at least)
using a headphone splitter, available from most good Hi-Fi stores you can plug in you stereo and headphones too so you can monitor the sound, if you want to speak in to a microphone then you'll need a separate connection to your stereo.
Hope that this is of some help to you.

  • YouTube Widescreen PAL DV Format - Right Setting?

This is not a question, but having seen a few postings here in the forum (and in YouTube Help) I thought it might be useful to publish my own findings in order to help others looking to place PAL Widescreen 16:9 DV Format 720x576 onto YouTube.
I have just spent 12 hours doing battle with the codecs in AME (Adobe Media Encoder) and what appeared to be a very unco-operative YouTube. I have read and re-read the topics on the subject still not knowing what the right setting is for DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 720x576  ( if there really is a definitive setting). What's more the instructions to leave the output the same as the input (in my case) proved to be way off beam. Hopefully, I can save someone their hair and and a night without sleep.
    The material:
PAL Widescreen 16:9 DV Format 720x576 shot on a Sony HVR-ZE in DV SP. A small amount of material was shot in HD but down-converted (via the camera) to DV 16:9 format (no artifacts are visible in the final). Editing was in AVI with a number of renders for colour balance, levels, audio et al. News-type item running about 2 mins.
    The Codec:
Like most, I went to the AME presets and started with Windows Media Video, always a safe bet I thought, and selected PAL Widescreen Source to High Quality Output (well you would, wouldn't you?), and besides the file size will be quite reasonable. Nope, YouTube didn't like that one bit - extremely poor definition, stretched and quite sick looking, even though the Windows Media Player loved it - correct aspects and quality.
After about an hour of fiddling, I then moved to H.264. I'd had success with PAL DV 4:3 aspects and learned that you must keep the output the same as the input - and what's more there are YouTube presets SD & HD. Again no luck, still quite awful and not a scratch on my edited final. But the Quicktime player (like the Wiundows Media Player) loved it. So those presets were out too. What followed was a long night trying different combinations of presets, aspects and just about everythinjg I could think of.
    The Solution (for me):
Without getting into the aspect ratio debate of square pixels which has been well covered by more knowledgable persons than I, it was simply working through the issue which brought the light on.
What I had in effect from the DV format was not 720x576 which I stuck to throughout based upon passed experience, but 1440 by virtue of it being widescreen. So clutching nothing more than that concept the following morning (after some sleep) and recognising that YouTube looked like it was stretching the 720 format I went to H.264 and the 1440x1080i 25 High Quality preset. I thought if the YouTube player wants to stretch my 720x576 format then I thought let's see what it makes of a bigger mouthful to chew on. Also having got quite tired of waiting for the entire item to upload eveytime, I made a widescreen test project (DV PAL Widescreen 16:9) with just three shots in it.
On my first test of 1440x1080i 25 High Quality preset, Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels, Progressive, I uploaded to YouTube. Success! So I quickly set about uploading my main project - but no - it looked absolutely rubbish again - what is going on? GSpot gave no indications as to a problem (in fact I find this piece of software quite unhelpful with its false positives).
I uploaded my test project again, and the result was poor - again! Poor definition, like it had the wrong aspect setting.
I decided to close Premiere Pro and then start it up. Went into the test project and saved with the settings above (as they were the only ones that gave me success after hours of trying many others), but one thing I was careful not to do was to click around the settings - straight in and do it! Uploaded, and success again! Now I had my benchmark - and what's more, after a few minutes I saw the YouTube HD button come up and the HD tag alongside my video entry. I downloaded the MP4 file using the YouTube "Download" button - now I felt I was getting somewhere as this was my "control" sample.
I went through the same process with my main project - reloaded it into PP4 and set the settings H.264, 1440x1080i 25 High Quality preset, Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels, Progressive, in AME and started the queue. The total file for a 1min 40sec item was about 176MB. I uploaded to Youtube.
After about 10 minutes YouTube said "Live". I played the video - rubbish! But wait. The video started to improved on my next play - infact, after about 5 minutes the video was looking great. After 15 minutes or so the HD button came up. Hooray! I have my project on YouTube in the quality as near as to how it was shot.
Whether YouTube had been going through some HD issues at the time I have no idea; whether AME had really selected the right settings even though it said it had, or whether I had not given YouTube time to fully process, all I know is that I now have a repeatable solution to uploading DV PAL Widescreen to YouTube which reproduces my video as near to the original as it will be. But most important, if you are uploading a very large file, allow YouTube time to fully process the video. Often YouTube says "Live" but is still processing. The processing time can go on long after the "Live" message comes up.
    Hope this helps someone else?

the DV format was not 720x576 which I stuck to throughout based upon passed experience, but 1440 by virtue of it being widescreen.
As a point of interest, anamorphic PAL DV translates to 1024 x 576 in square pixels.  1440 is the HD anamorphic equivalent.

  • 24P plug in on YouTube?  Finding the right export setting

I am using a Nattress Film Effect to get 24P of my video which is shot on DV 16X9. I am using GFilm Extra, and it's looking like crap on YouTube. YouTube prefers mp4s and I have spent days experimenting with different frame rates and standards conversions to try to make it work. It's probably got something to do with interlacing, but also something to do with the mp4 conversion process, which makes the 24p a little stuttery, which is exaggerated when it gets compressed by YouTube. I have discovered however, that if I make a Quicktime mov file that is below 1 Gig, that it actually looks okay on YouTube. I have been using Quicktime conversion to get there, but I have tried several variations and am unable to find a setting that will do it correctly. I have been trying DVCPro50 NTSC, and one of the settings is either 4:3 or 16X9. If I select 4:3 and then select anamorphic, the actual settings are 720X480 anamorphic, so when I upload it to YouTube it looks great but it's stretched. It looks fine when I see it in Quicktime but when I upload it it is stretched. If I select 16X9 and then use a custom frame size to make the file smaller, then it always ends up as 853X480, which is 16X9, but about 1.62 Gigs. I'm trying to make a less than 1 Gig anamorphic 16X9 mov file that will look halfway decent on YouTube, and because of the interlacing, it would probably be better if it was progressive, although it seems fine with the interlace .mov version. There are several examples of the problem now at http://www.youtube.com/metapunker (the video is Marielle) if you want to see the problem. I have been exporting a lot of different versions but I haven't found a winner yet, and am hoping that you have some ideas.

I tried a variation on that theme by exporting the sequence and then bringing it back into a 23.98 sequence, and standards converting it into a 23.98 finished product. The only problem then was flag edits, which are even more obvious and jarring when it goes to YouTube. If you want to see what I'm talking about, go to:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI-2cNZx8JM
The first one happens approximately 30 seconds into the video.
It works with a .mov if I can just find the right setting to make a small enough file to upload to YouTube. If you want to see the stretched version, go here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkjKTyyqFNE
This is a .mov 720X480 anamorphic which is what happens if you select 4:3 and then check the anamorphic button. It looks fine in Quicktime, but it is stretched on YouTube.

  • What is the factory setting for the Brightness Control?

Hi. I'm calibrating my monitor and I have to set the Brightness Control back to the Factory Setting. Does anybody know what the factory setting is? Thank you!

That may still be too high. The brightness is really cranked up on monitors these days. I doubt even at the minimum setting if you can get to the recommended luminance of 150 cd/m².
This link might help you determine the best setting. As you are adjusting the brightness up and down, you might see a subtle difference; a lot depends on the capabilities of the monitor.

  • Shot stabilization: The right way?

    Hey everyone,
I've been stabilizing shots for about a year now with after effects.  Usually nothing too intense.  Just Warp Stabilizer to polish.
Between my last project and this one I had a chance to sit down with the assistant editor on gone girl and I mentioned that I use warp stabilizer (usually without the warp setting).  He was basically disgusted at the thought.  Since I wasn't there to get a tutorial we didn't talk much more about it.  But he did say that the warp stabilizer doesn't give you a lot of control.
So I'm wondering what the "right way" to stabilize a shot is.  Is there a tutorial that is more advanced somewhere out there?
    Thanks!

Was this Tyler that you were talking with? If so, I'll have to ask him what he meant by this comment. Warp Stabilizer gives rather a lot of control, so I'd be curious to know what deficiencies there supposedly are.
