P_SESSION.GET_VALUE_AS_NUMBER not working

Question

Hi,
I have a report containing links to a form. The links work fine and the correct records are opened in the form.
I'm trying to get the value of a textbox to display as text but P_SESSION.GET_VALUE_AS_NUMBER is not playing ball.
The row id I'm working with is 644. Here is my code:

end;I have this in the "... before displaying the page" in the additional pl/sql tab. The form is a single form, not a master/detail.
I get this error:
r:      Internal error (WWC-00006)
An unexpected error occurred: ORA-01403: no data found

The preference path does not exist: ORACLE.WEBVIEW.PARAMETERS.22094234487 (WWC-51000)However, if I change the select to:
where NEWS_ID = '644'
I get '644' printed onscreen.
I cant understand why P_SESSION.GET_VALUE_AS_NUMBER isn't getting the textbox value? I've used this method many times before and had no problems.

I changed numbers to varchar2 and its working now.
