Hello Colin
As far as I know this kind of information WMP pick up from the internet but just if you use original music CD. I dont know which WMP version you use but check please WMP Options. You can find it under Tools.
Under tab Security activate the option Show local captions when present. Check also settings for internet connection.
By the way: on this page http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq.aspx you can find frequently asked questions about Microsoft Windows Media Player for Windows.

Re: Macbook Pro 10.6.8 RAM Upgarde to 8 GB
The amount of RAM is not dependant on the operating system. It is all about the model of you Mac.
10.6.8 is the version of OS X that is installed on your system. It has no real baring on the amount of RAM that CAN be installed.
Personally I have never had good luck with Corsair RAM. I have always had good luck with Crucial and Kingston.

    thank you

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • ITunes 11.4.0.18 will not get track names for imported mp3 albums.

I'm new to Apple (Windows 7 i7 Sandy Bridge processor 16GB ram) and recently got an iPod touch 5g 64GB and I am trying to figure out iTunes.  I have GB's of albums that I have collected over the years in mp3 format.  When I imported them to iTunes via...File>Add Folder to Library...It imported all of my albums, but, almost NONE of the tracks are in order and they are "scattered" for lack of a better word.  Some are with the albums they are supposed to be with, but MOST made their own names and albums.  Getting the tracks with the albums I fixed by doing it manually.  Getting the tracks in order in the albums...HELP.  I tried to "Get Track Names", but iTunes comes back with "iTunes cannot get CD track names for songs that were not imported using iTunes.  To allow iTunes to look for CD track names for this song, import the song again using iTunes."????  I'm assuming that iTunes will only get the track names if they are imported from CD only and not mp3?  If I have to manually enter all of the information in myself....God help me...just leave it unorganized???

When iTunes imports a CD it records the information used to look up the album in the Gracenotes database. When you add your tracks into a different library that data is no longer available. See Grouping tracks into albums for some tips on organizing iTunes content.

  • ITunes 5 doesn't have way to NOT get track names

In previous versions of iTunes you could check a box to connect to the internet automatically to get CD track names when you inserted a disc--but you could also choose to have that option turned off. With iTunes 5 I don't see where I can turn that off. I am ripping a 24-disc audiobook and each disc I insert keeps getting the wrong information assigned to all the tracks and I have to edit it out. It would be much easier for me to just add my own information to begin with than have to take out the wrong information first. How do I turn off the option to get CD track names when I am online all the time?

That is bad news, because often the track listing is wrong in the CDDB, just like you are experiencing.
They should bring that option to disable it back.

  • I do not see track names in itunes from my pc library

Have some problems  with itunes. I do not see any text anywhere on the itunes page. The only text I see is when I drop down the window with preferences in it.
All other drop downs show blank or black. There is no text telling me what these drop downs do when I hover over them.
Also. When I copied all my music, check marks show up but no title, name or even track shows up. When I click on one to see what it is, there is no text in that window either? Help? Running windows XP.

  • I tune doses not import track name

When I nsert a CD in to the drive, the I tunes only reads track 1, track2,... and so on. How can I solve this problem?

Use CD text. At least it will be on the CD. Still, iTunes won't use it to label the tracks and there's no way around that.  I guess you could try submitting it to Gracenote but I don't know how they have changed things since I last sent in a correction to them many years ago.  As I said, it kind of clutters up their database with everybody submitting a once-off frat. party CD to them, or maybe just submitting junk names for a real CD to mess them about, so they may have clamped down on it.
Franlky, if you're worried about them stealing it, it probably doesn't matter what you do with the CD.  Let's say an online labeling service did accept your labels. I could take your CD, import to iTunes, change all the artist names on it, then re-submit to the online labeling service.  I could burn a new CD, destroy the old copy, then when you came to my office I could claim you somehow stole my CD and put your labels on it.  Since this is all going too far, if you think they are that dishonest you probably don't want them as agents in the first place.

  • No track names on burned cd's.

why aren't the track names and info transfering to the cd's when i burn playlists?

Because audio CDs do not have track names or other info.

  • Burn Purchased Music CD No Track Names

I'm upgrading a few purchased songs to iTunes + and want to copy them to a second authorized PC. The track names show up on the CD when I burn them on the first PC but when I insert the CD into the second PC, I get the msg "Could not find track names, do you still want to import them?" Looks like GraceNote trys to name but cannot. I have the Audio CD and Text boxes checked when I burn. How can I get the track names, etc without manually typing them. TIA

I will not be able to play the Data CD on any other cd player?
No, a data CD, since it's just computer data, cannot be played on any normal CD player. CD players with some exceptions can only play Redbook-standard audio CDs, which is what iTunes burns when you select the Audio CD option.
basically the Data burning is used for transferring songs from one itunes library to another.
Burning as a data CD is for transfer and for making backups.
The audio is used for having a cd to play outside of itunes.
For playing on any player that can only handle standard CDs. This could include a home or car CD player, a DVD player (many if not all of which can play audio CDs), or some other computer that doesn't have a player that can handle the format of the tracks (particularly the copy protection on some tracks from the iTunes Store).

  • My itunes does not get the names of all tracks which i import.

When i import a cd into itunes, it does not get any track names. Why is this.
Also, itunes does not connect to the music store. It tells me that i should check my connection etc etc. Are these problems related, and what can i do to fix it?

Let me guess, did you just install/upgrade iTunes?
If so, then it's surely your security software (firewall, web accelerator, privacy filters, etc) that is blocking iTunes.
The iTunes "upgrade" is actually an uninstall, then total new install, of iTunes and QuickTime. Many security packages such as Norton, Zone Alarm, Google Web accelerator, McAfee, PCillin (...the list is long) see this new iTunes install as a malicious threat, and block out the previous settings without telling you.
Go to your security software vendor's website and see if they have directions for allowing iTunes & QT back in the list of programs allowed to access the internet.

  • Ipod will not display track and artist name when i play a song

ipod will not display track and artist name when i play a song... i cant see the the volume display to adjust it eiether. Everyting shows up in the menus just not on the now playing screen.... any suggestions?

Try restoring your iPod. Just be aware that restoring will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • Track names and other data not showing up in CD burned in iTunes

Made a playlist today from songs in my library which have all data, selected "write CD text" in the burn dialogue box, burned the CD. When I reinserted into my computer and it mounted in iTunes there was no track or other info, title was "audio CD" and iTunes tried to connect to Gracenotes where, of course, the info was not found.
This is a new problem. Previous playlists burned to disc always had the info.
Just for fun I burned the playlist in Toast 8.0.4 (the latest version my iMac PPC can run), and again checked the box to have the CD text burned to the disk.
Again when I reinserted the CD burned in Toast all I got was "audio CD", the correct number of tracks and no other info.
Has something changed in iTunes recently?
    TIA
    Caroline

    Anyone?
    per HT3814:
    Remembering audio CDs you burn
iTunes also "remembers" every audio CD you burn. However, the CD and track names are not burned onto the CD itself. If you insert the burned audio CD into another computer, or even log in as another user, the CD will be titled "Audio CD", and will have generic track names. Since the track length and the overall CD length is the same as the store-bought album, iTunes finds the information for the store-bought album when it looks the CD up online.
So why does this no longer work on my iMac?
It DID work for a playlist from multiple ripped CD's a year or so ago--has this changed in the newer iterations of iTunes?

  • "Automatically retrieve CD track names from internet" not working

I'm about to begin re-ripping all my CDs (400+) which I haven't done since at least 14yrs ago in order to take advantage on newer/better formats. I was excited to see that iTunes can automate a lot of this process with the following two options:
    - When you insert a CD: (Import CD and Eject)
    - [ ] Automatically retrieve CD track names from internet
Found in the "Playback" settings of iTunes 10.1.1
However after inserting my first CD, I noticed it started to import without downloading the track names first. Obtaining track names manually is working for me because if I choose "Advanced -> Get track names" it accesses Gracenote DB and works fine.
It's just the automatic operation after inserting a CD that is not working. This causes me to have to:
    1) Insert CD
    2) Choose "Advanced -> Get track names"
    3) Click "Import CD"
    4) Eject
as opposed to the one supposedly promised step of "Insert CD" and have the other 3 things happen automatically.
I've tried deleting my iTunes plists in my ~/Library/Preferences/ folder but it still works the same.
    Any suggestions?

You can seach the Gracenote site directly. I don't know if that would help you decide which option you needed to use.

  • New Beatles albums - track names and artwork not showing up in iTunes 9.0

Has anyone else bought the new Beatles remastered CDs and tried to import into iTunes 9.0?
All that shows up is Track 1, Track 2 etc and no album art.
Is this due to there being video on these albums too and how can one deal with this issue?

It is because they have not yet been added to the database that is used to provide the track information.
When you insert a CD into your computer and it appears in iTunes, the iTunes software connects to a database and looks for the track names for the CD. If it finds the CD in the database the track names are downloaded and use to tag the music.
The album art on the other hand is provided by the iTunes Music Store, so if an album is not available in the iTunes Store than you cannot get the album art for it. As the Beatles are not yet available in the iTunes Store you will not get the album art.
