P1005 Windows 7 can't print from remote PC

Very strange issue.
Windows 7 computers. All HP compaqs. Printer P1005. Driver just downloaded (version 20090918).
No problem to print from the host PC
From the remote PC. Windows 7 Pro with 3 local account.  After lot of issues I'm now able to print on using the administrator account. However the 2 others accounts can't print.  Everytime the print dialog should come on the screen Windows 7 report an error and application crash (even printing a test page).   In an application if I default another shared printer (deskjet 5940), the print dialog come on, then I select the P1005 in the dropdown and got the error again.  Deskjet have no issue on all accounts.
To install on the admin account I did the following:
   - deinstall the P1005
   - decompressed the install app on the HD
  - Add a printer, select a local printer on USB, and manual selection of the drivers. printed without problem (with printer connected locally)
 - added a printer, selected the network one, added it and printed without issue (yes I switch back the printer to be on the shared one)
I tried the same tricks on the others accounts but still crashing when printing
I tried to upgrade the 2 others account to Admin role, no luck same issue.
I have exhausted. sounds this printer is not very compatible with Windows 7.
PS. my windows xP remote PC is able to print through the Windows 7 host without issue.

If it is not wireless it is USB connected.  So you need to choose USB connected and let the program do it's thing.   Are you trying to share the printer from the desktop to the laptop?  If yes, just go to Add Printer and follow the instruction.  Make sure File and Print Sharing is enabled on the desktop.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.

Hi, i've installed HP LASERJET M1132 MFP in my PC with windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and it works fine. But when i connect using remote dekstop with  our Windows server 2008 r2 64 bit. its not printing. error "test page failed to print , would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?" and it doesnt solved the problem.
    please help

    Thank you for your interest.
The situation is a bit different than the picture. Windows Server 2008 R2 is available through the WAN. LAN is plugged into the PC-1, PC-2 and Konica Minolta printer. HP LaserJet M1120n MFP is connected via USB to the PC-1. OKI ML 3320 printer is connected via LPT also to the PC-1. PC-1 has access to Konica Minolta printer via the LAN. PC-2 also has access to Konica Minolta printer via the LAN. PC-2 is also available for PC-1 HP and OKI.
It seems to me that I found the explanation for the printing problems - some of "my" printers are simply not compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2. I found on the net the following information:

  • Can't print to Windows 7 shared printer from Mac OS Lion

    Dear all,
I would like to share my experience battling to figure out how to print to Windows 7 shared printer from Mac OS Lion. Myself had this problem and looking throughly in internet without success. But finally I figured out the solution by myself, hope this can help other Mac user with similar problem.
OK, when I try to setup my new MacBook Pro with OS Lion to connect with my Canon MX308 printer attached to desktop with Windows 7 Ultimate,
    1. I simply select System Preferences>Print & Scan.
    2. Then looks for the + sign just below the box to add a new printer.
    3. From the option toolbar above, I select Windows. I have connect this MacBook with my Windows Network, so the workgroup will appear to the left column.
    4. After I select this group, the computer list will appear in the middle column
    5. Then after I select the computer which my printer connected to, my printer sharename will appear in the right column
    6. Last step is to select the printer I want to use.
    7. After that it will automatically put your printer sharename to the "Name". And then I select my printer driver at "Print Using" and find my printer manufacturer which is Canon MX300 series from driver lists. Finish!
My printer appear in the Printers List. But the problem is everytime I try to print there will be error message saying "ON HOLD Authentication Required".
This problem start to kill me, I search all around for similar problem, but the solution was never worked for me!
Until just now I figured out accidentally for the solution.
THE PROBLEM LIES ON MY PRINTER DRIVER!!!! Although I have downloaded the most update driver from Apple site and Apple Software update said there is no more update for my system!
The solution for my problem is Gutenprint Printer Driver! You can download this driver at http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php, then select for the latest driver gutenprint-5.2.7.dmg. Install this driver!
Then back to Print & Scan in System Preferences, then right click on Printers List box, then choose "Reset Printing System..." to clear the previous failed printers.
After that, repeat the above step 2 - 7. Only for the last step I need to select the Printer Driver for my Canon MX308 for the driver name : "Canon PIXMA MX300 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.7"
Now I can sleep as a baby knowing that my printer make a friend with my new Macbook Pro! Hope this will help others!

I have the same setup but with a Canon MX850.  This did not fix my problem.

  • How Can I Print from my Microsoft Surface Running Windows 8 RT?

How Can I Print from my Microsoft Surface Running Windows 8 RT?
Most new wireless printers won’t have a problem printing from the Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 RT.  All you should have to do for these printers is tell them to print and they will.  Older wireless, Ethernet, and USB printers might not have an officially supported driver in Windows 8 RT, but there is a way to get the printers working.  There are different requirements depending on how the printer is being connected to the Surface.
Note:  All steps below are only for PhotoSmart, OfficeJet, DeskJet, and other HP Inkjet printers.  These steps are not for Laserjet printers or printers from other manufacturers.  These steps may not work for all Inkjet printers.  If these steps don’t work, try different drivers from the list until you find one that will work (you’ll understand what I mean once you follow the steps below).  If none of the drivers work, your printer will not work with the Surface.
For networked printers (wireless or Ethernet), all you need is either the Surface keyboard, or an external USB keyboard to connect to the Surface.  This just makes anything you have to type easier to type.  You will also need to have the Surface and the printer connected to the same network.
Starting from the right edge, swipe your finger left on the Surface screen to bring up the Charms bar.
    Touch Search.
Below the Search Box, touch Settings.
In the search Box, type Devices and Printers.
    Touch Devices and Printers.
    Touch Add a Printer.
Touch “My printer is not listed”.
Select the TCP/IP option and touch Next.
Enter the printer’s IP address and touch Next.  Note:  You can get this from the printer’s Network Configuration Page, or from your router’s DHCP list.
The Surface will locate the printer and try to install it.  The install will fail and the Surface will ask you what you want to do, search the internet for the driver, or manually install the driver.  Choose to install the driver yourself.
Touch “I want to choose from a list of drivers”.
If no drivers appear in the list, make sure the box next to “Show compatible drivers” is not checked.
Choose HP from the Manufacture list.
Choose DeskJet PCL 3 Class Driver from the Drivers list.  If that driver doesn't work, try using the Photosmart PCL3 driver, or the Officejet PCL 3 driver.  (Thank you JonW for letting me know about these other alternates. )
    Touch Next.
    Touch Finish.
    Test printing.
For USB connected printers, you will need a USB cord to attach the printer to the computer.
Connect the printer to the computer via USB.
Windows will try to find the drivers but will not be able to.
Here Windows may ask you if you want to choose the driver to install.  If it does skip to step 14 below.
Starting from the right edge, swipe your finger left on the Surface screen to bring up the Charms bar.
    Touch Search.
Under the Search box, touch Settings.
In the Search box, type Device Manager.
    Touch Device Manager.
Touch View and select Show Hidden.
Search for the printer in the Device Manager.  It should be under Other Devices with a yellow caution sign beside it.
Select the printer from the list.
    Touch Action.
Touch Update Driver, or Install whichever one it displays.
The Surface will ask you what you want to do, search the internet for the driver, or manually install the driver.
    Test printing.

installed new 5520 last weekend.  windows keeps shutting down IE.  went through windows suggestions.  says it is due to smartprint.  I do not need smartprint or e-print, just want to print from my laptop.  Can I uninstall smartprint and e-print and just use regular printing?  Also, I can't print from e-mail.  I can print everything else except from e-mail.  Anyone know how to correct this?

  • How can I print from my windows 8 pc to my printer using my 2nd g express?

I have an hp deskjet 1055. It's just a USB printer how can I print from windows to my printer connected to my 2gen airport express? If it only works with airprint printers than why is there belkin routers that can work with any printer?

Figured it out. To print wirelessly via airport express 2nd generation you have to do some things. Download the bonjour printer thing mentioned above and have the printer plugged in to the airport express. Then run the bonjour printer thing and select your connected printer and install. Where I went wrong was I tried to print from my hp printer (1). When you install a printer with bonjour to print wirelessly it installs the same printer (2) so it's like there's 2 different printers in word or whatever you use to print.  You have to select the one that says ready. Thanks for everyone's help

  • Can't print from Mac to Windows printer

I have a wireless network of 3 computers and a printer. One is a desktop running XP with the printer attached. The other is a laptop with XP. And the last is a MacBook with 10.4.11.
I can print from both computers running XP but I can't print from the Mac. The Mac sees the printer and I can add it and try to print from it. When I try to print I get the error message:
    NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY
I later get the "Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds" message too.

Be sure the printer name assigned in Windows is not more than 11 alphanumeric characters. Long names with punctuation and the like are known to cause problems.
    Look at:
    Mac OS X 10.4- Can't print to a printer shared by Microsoft Windows;
    Mac OS X- Cannot locate a shared Windows printer;
    Mac OS X- How to manually add a Windows shared printer;
    Setting up to print to a printer shared by a Windows computer via SMB;
    And finally this:
    Monday, July 24 2006 @ 11:00 AM PDT
    Tutorial: Resolving common printer problems
Mac OS X offers a robust printing system with built-in support for hundreds of devices from a wide body of manufacturers. It's not without flaws, however, and printers often become unrecognized or non-functional after a significant Mac OS X update. Printers connected through hubs or AirPort base stations can also exhibit some frustrating issues.
Below is a run-down of the most generally successful printer workarounds. Keep trying until one of them sticks.
Use Printer Setup Repair This tool lets you verify properties of the root user, the Printing Services (lp) user, and Print Operators (lp) groups, reset the printing system, perform CUPS maintenance and more. Run through its set of maintenance tasks before delving into further printer troubleshooting. See how to use it in this article.
Re-install CUPS If you are experiencing printer issues after applying an incremental Mac OS X update, problems may have occurred with your CUPS installation during the update process.
The file is available from this Web site: http://www.cups.org/software.php, and is labeled cups-1.2.1.dmg
Delete then re-add printers/Reset printing system Open Printer Setup Utility, located in Applications/Utilities and look at the "Printer List" Highlight and delete all entries.
Alternatively, go to the "Printer Setup Utility" menu at the top of the screen and select "Reset Printing System".
Click the "Add" button and re-add your printer(s).
Gutenprint and usbtb Some users have been able to resolve printer communication issues by installing the excellent open-source Epson printer drivers available as part of the Gutenprint package (formerly known as Gimp-print) and usbtb, a CUPS back-end for USB printing.
Remove non-required drivers Removing extraneous drivers from /Library/Printers(name of manufacturer) can sometimes resolve printer issues. Remove files that are for other models than your own.
Re-install drivers Re-installation of printer drivers from original media or from a Web download (either directly through the manufacturers site or via a search by model/manufacturer on VersionTracker) can resolve some printer issues.
Try disconnecting from network In some cases, LAN-connected printer, seemingly broken by the Mac OS X update can restored to normal operation by simply disconnecting the device from the network then re-connecting it.
"Communicator Error" -- try power cycling If you receive a "Communication Error" message when attempting to print after updating to Mac OS X 10.4.5, the first workaround you should try is power cycling the printer, as well as disconnecting then re-connecting it to the Mac.
Connecting directly to the Mac If you are having printer problems and are using an external USB hub, try connecting the printer directly to your Mac.
One reader who had success with this method writes:
"Unfortunately the update to Mac OS X 10.4.6 has eliminated the ability to use my Lexmark Z600 series USB printer on my iMac G5 20" iSight (rev C).
"I resolved the problem via the following: I unplugged my external USB hub and plugged the printer directly to my computer."
Disconnect from AirPort and reset For those who are using printers connected to an AirPort Express, Extreme or another wireless device with USB connections, you might want to try the following:
Disconnect the printer from the AirPort unit (or other router)
    Wait a few minutes
    Plug it back in
    Restart the base station unit
Check for your printer to appear in AirPort Admin Utility (located in Applications/Utilities)
Print one copy In some cases, using print one copy instead of the standard print command can result in elimination of crashes that occur during printing.
Try IP printing instead of AppleTalk Some Macs are unable to see AppleTalk printers that are located on the local AirPort (or other wireless) network. Several users have been able to workaround this issue by using IP printing instead of AppleTalk.
Last resort -- Archive and Install As a last resort, try performing the somewhat tedious Archive and Install process, then re-upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.7. This has solved some otherwise inexplicable printer issues for MacFixIt readers.

There are a few ways to print from your Android phone to your HP printer.
Send an email from your phone to your printer's ePrint address (ex. [email protected]).
Download the HP ePrint Home and Biz app from the Android Market to print photos and documents to your HP printer over your wireless network or through ePrint.

  • How can I print from Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8?

I need to print information from my dropbox that is a .pdf format.  How can I print from ART for Windows8? I can't find the print icon nor does a right click give me the option to print.  I'm using a laptop, not a tablet. (And not loving Windows 8!)

Please see FAQ: Printing a PDF file in Windows 8.
If you are running Windows 8 on a laptop with an Intel-based processor, you can install Adobe Reader XI (desktop app with classic UI) alternatively.
Go to your Windows 8 desktop.
Go to http://get.adobe.com/reader/ in your browser.
Download and install Adobe Reader XI.
Launch Adobe Reader XI and open a PDF file.
Select File > Print from the menu.

  • Can't print from a windows pc to network printer

I am having a network printer problem.
I have a Canon printer plugged into the usb port of my Mac-Mini.  I can print fine from the Mac to the printer.  I have network sharing enabled for the printer.
I have a Dell PC connected to an Airport Express via internet cable as part of my network.
I have bonjour installed on the Dell
Bonjour can see the networked canon printer and will install it as the default printer for the Dell PC.
However, I can not print from the Dell unless I have the wrong printer driver (an HP driver) installed.  As long as the wrong driver is installed I can print the first page of a document only.
If I install the correct Canon driver, the printer ceases to function.
I tried connecting the printer to the airport express via usb.  Once I did this, I was able to print from the Dell pc with no problem using the correct driver.  But then, I could no longer print from the Mac-mini via the Airport Express connected printer.  The Mac could see the printer and identify that it was connected via Airport.  And the Mac will allow me to connect to the Airport connected printer .  But as soon as I trie to print something from the Mac, it fails and gives an error message or pauses and says the drivers may not be correct.
Can anyone help me with this issue?

    Detective445 wrote:
I believe that there may not be a solution to this because the printer will only recognize one set of drivers.  Since one set of drivers is for the Mac and one set is for a PC It will only work with one machine or the other.
Then you should be able to print from the Mini after resetting the printer, e.g. by turning it off and back on after a short while. But it sounds as if this won't help either, and to be frank, it's not an "acceptable" explanation, either...
So, what's the error message? Unless known, we can only keep guessing:
You've reset the printer system in the Mini? Eventually consider deleting the Canon drivers manually afterwards, and only then add the printer again and re-install its software.
If that doesn't help either, the issue must be a communication problem, meaning I'd recommend to double-/triple-check all comm-related things as well.

  • My 4500 series printer is back in MI. I am currently in AZ with my 1410 series. I can't print from

I have a laptop that goes back & forth from MI. to AZ.  Mi has the 4500 series, and AZ has the 1410 series.  Now my laptop shows the 4500 as offline & I can't print from my printshop, or Kodak files.  How do I put the 4500 back online???

Did you want to print to your remote printer or are you trying to print to the 1410?
If you have Windows 7 you could set your system up to have a different default printer in AZ than in MI.  To do this go to the Devices and Printers folder, right click on the local printer and in the menu bar near the top a new menu item will appear that allows managing default printers.  You would then be able to have the default printer change automatically when you change locality.
You can also manually change your default printer.  If you have Windows go to the printers folder, right click on the desired printer and select Set as Default.
If you are trying to print to the remote printer and it has gone offline (perhaps due to a temporary power outage) you may have to physically reset the printer or have someone local do it for you.
