P2 24pa FCP bug, I think.

OK, I shot some footage at 1080i 24pa and I am having problems with the imported footage. It should be 24 frames per second but it is playing back at 30 fps in the TC. The footage says 23.98 but the TC goes to 29 and then to 0 again. The information of the clips says 1080 p30 even though I shot 24pa. I am playing the clips back in a DVCPRO 1080 24p time line.
I think this is a bug with FCP. 720 works the way it should but 1080i does not.
Any news on this problem???
Thanks,
-Lars

Thanks for your response, Tom.  Are you an Apple FCPX agent (looking at your thumbnail image)?
The video media is all imported into the library as optimised ProRes 422 and it's 40 minutes in length.  There are quite a few stills overlaid, also imported and optimised.  It was a two camera shoot and I've edited it from synced multi cam clips.
My point is that an MP3 export worked flawlessly from the less complete but still full length previous edit (same specs, except for the stills which were added since) in FCPX 10.1.4, before I upgraded to 10.2 on Friday.  Now it doesn't.
Looking forward to hearing more...  And thanks again.

  • Apple Animation & Major FCP Bugs.  Help?!?!

    I'm really getting frustrated with Final Cut Pro. I'm a long time Adobe Premiere user on the PC and recently started using a Mac workstation with FCP. It seemed intuative enough but it's been nothing but frustration on what seems to be an extremely simple task.
    I've got a bunch of material captured using the Apple Animation codec - 1024x640, 15 frames/sec, non-interlaced, square pixels, along with a 44.1 Khz stereo soundtrack. They are .mov files. This is a capture from a desktop recording program called iShowU. The footage plays great in Quicktime and looks awesome.
    I need to bring these into FCP and do some very simple cuts-only editing then re-export. I'm being hit with various frustrating problems. Please someone help with any of these - I don't even know where to start.
    I'm running FCP 5.1.4, on a new MacPro quad 2.66 with 5GB ram and the stock video card, fast 7200rpm SATA hard drive with plenty of space.
    _*Timeline Playback / Space Bar:*_
    When I hit the space bar the play head should play - yes? This is how I edit. The space bar function is totally intermittent. Sometimes it plays, somtimes it doesn't, sometimes it plays then stops after 1/2 second, sometimes it plays for 7 seconds then just randomly stops, sometimes it's playing and I can't stop it by hitting space so I have to hit multiple times then go back and re-position the play head. Arugh!! I've got the latest updates for Apple Pro Apps Interface Support or whatever that is - hoped that would fix it but no. Premiere always worked just fine in this function. I've tried holding the space bar longer or shorter - nothing seems to work. I want a simple tap-start, and tap-stop operation here to position my play head for cutting. Help?!?!
    _*Render Previews: Total Confusion:*_
    Apparently FCP won't just play these clips native without having to "re-render" them to play in the window while editing. This is an apple codec so that just baffles me why it wouldn't play them straight up, but oh well. So here's what I do...
    1. Create a new sequence and in Sequence Settings make sure I set frame size, aspect, QuickTime Video Settings to compressor: Animation, set the audio correct - everything to exactly match my source footage.
    2. I drag some clips on to the sequence.
    - Sometimes they play right off without any apparent need to render.
    - Sometimes I get that beep - beep - beep that the audio needs rendered
    - Sometimes the preview window reads "Unrendered", but if I zoom in to say 400%, now all of a sudden it plays - cropped of course, but it plays. Zoom back to where I can see the whole window, and it shows Unrendered again.
    - This doesn't seem to corespond to the red bar over the footage in the sequence. One sequence I've been messing with has a red bar on top, a grey bar right under it, and it plays fine - audio and video both play fine when previewing.
    I just can't find any pattern to what plays or what won't.
    3. I understand these clips should probably be pre-rendered so I dumped a bunch into a sequence, selected all of them, then went to Sequence > Render Selection > Both, then waited a LONG LONG LONG time for the render to complete.
    That was okay, but then I dragged the same exact clips into another sequence and it showed them as NOT RENDERED. How frustrating!
    Now it appears I have to have a perfectly good rendered copy on my drive, plus re-render a preview copy of each clip for each sequence I use it in which means now doubling, trippling, quadrupling the amount of drive space and time needed to just slice these clips together and be done with it.
    Obviously I'm doing something all wrong - FCP was supposed to be a "better" program and so far it's just dumb every way I look at it. I read in the manual about this stuff but it wasn't much help - it pretty well repeats what's obvious by reading the menu headings.
    _*Please Help:*_
    Can someone please give me small little steps to get this done? I'd like to create a fresh new project, do whatever to import the footage, do whatever to setup a sequence, do whatever to make FCP happy enough to preview the stuff live while I edit, and allow me to re-use the same content in multiple sequences without having to re-render it every time.
    Maybe I can do that offline edit stuff? Can someone walk me through that? Maybe I can import it all and make FCP think it's regular SD video, let me edit, then use the real footage when I export via H.264 at the end. I've never had to mess with that "offline editing" stuff because Premiere always handled anything I threw at it without complaint.
    Much thanks in advance. I'm about to kick this computer out a window right now.

    Well then, let's work backwards: what is your final deliverable? What is the setting that most closely resembles that?
    And as noted above, use compressor to do the transcode-- you can do it in a batch while you go out and weed your tomatoes.
    (H.264 is a delivery codec and not suitable for editing.)
    My final deliverable is 1024x640, 15fps, non-interlaced, H.264 Quicktime. As you note, H.264 is not for editing, I get that.
    Using compressor to transcode is a great idea and a big help - but what should I transcode to? I was hoping for a specific suggestion. I'll use whatever codec will work - I'm not picky. As stated, it just needs to maintain it's details as much as possible in the final output.
    It would seem that to render from Apple Animation to (some other codec) then render that material out as H.264 would be a bad idea as it would create two rounds of compression, but that seems to be the solution - so what should (some other codec) be? I can do trail and error all week and see what works but I was hoping someone would have some specifics settings to try?
    And tweaking the various quality and data rate settings of that destination codec brings up even more variables - getting something compressed enough to edit and yet still with enough good data to represent a clean output.
    Again, this is a little frustrating as I'm not trying to produce a feature film here - it's just some software demos with some audio narration, I just need to do some straight cuts editing to cut around the dead spaces in the narration and menu hunting. Then export that cut down sequence as a quicktime in the smallest file size possible while maintaining the large 1024x640 screen size. It really is a pretty simple task that's turned into a real hassle. I realize the screen size isn't exactly standard but this should be a fairly straight forward process.
    I do very much appreciate everyone's help. I can't thank you enough. I feel if I just knew what settings to punch in or what codec to use or what order to import stuff or whatever, I'd be done with the project by now.
    Thanks.

  • Suitcase Fusion causing FCP bug

    Just thought id post this,
    Since installing Suitcase Fusion when i export a qt from fcp, where the drop down box asks you what type of markers, if any, you would like to include, rather than having the choices none,chapters only etc etc i just get a list of all my active fonts.
    If i quit suitcase, the proper marker choices show.
    Its not a huge problem, but annoying.
    Just thought someone else may have come across this issue with a solution.

    I used to use SuiteCase years ago - it was a great and powerful tool on ppc.
    That's weird - but from what you've just described, I'd disable SuiteCase altogether. That sort of behaviour gives me the shakes if you're working with video.
    God, it's complicated enough without a Font Manager running.
    <thinks> corrupt render files, project files ....

  • Did the FCP bug finding team die in a plane crash?

    I love FCS2, it does wonderful things, super-duper well, but FCP, Compressor, Garageband have so many bugs, whassup? What happened to the bug hunters? Eaten by lions? Like with FCP, if I duplicate a sequence, whe I close down and open up, the renders on previous versions are gone! What a pain in the paduski!
    best,
    Elmer

    well maybee the bug team can fix this in FCS2.
    -50 frame timebase support ,which is still in beta, but works with a XML workaround.
    What is taking so long? Europe is on the map too you know. Do i have to explain where on the map?
    -When animation audio keyframes with a control surface the canvas freezes. ( not in fcp 5.1)
    -Color 1.01 renders cause a different and wrong color space in the footage.
    Color 1.0 fixes the problem ( Wauw a downgrade bugfix!!, typical Apple)
    -When importing an image sequence with alpha (tiff , tga) in quicktime player and convert it to movie with 25 frames. It always creates a 22 frame movie. Why? I say 25, it creates 22.
    -When will the iApp quicktime team will start communicating with the Pro App Quicktime team?
    Almost ALL quicktime updates cause problems for either iApps or ProApps.
    I don't have to be a programmer to see how often this goes WRONG.
    In most cases Pro Apps suffer from badly patched quicktime updates.
    All bugs above are reproducable on a clean system with OSX 10.4.10 with FCS2
    Well that's enough for now, more to come.

  • FEAKISH CAPTURE ISSUE IS PROBABLY AN FCP BUG

    Brian Connor, Patrick Sheffield and Studio X may recall a recent issue regarding the odd truncation of clips. Brian's "solution" was to edit the clip in QT, then re-import the file. He wanted to know what would happen when I did this.
    I never performed that experiment, because the problem suddenly vanished when I pulled the clip directly from the Browser into the Sequence, bypassing the Viewer. I assumed it was some oddity in the Viewer and finished the job for the client and marked the thread "solved."
    Now the same problem has appeared with another clip. the clip is 17:38. At 10:25, the video cuts back to Frame 1 and plays from there. The audio does not change. It's the same problem I had before.
    The clip appears normal and complete in QT. As Brian suggested, I copied the clip (Self contained, 3.2 GB) to desktop, then deleted the first 10:25. In QT, the clip appears normal.
    HERE'S THE SPOOKY PART: When I open the ORIGINAL clip (different hard drive, different file name) in FCP, the entire first 10:25 is MISSING. There is only the final segment, as I has edited it in QT.
    FCP MUST HAVE SOME ISSUE HERE IN ITS INTERNAL FILE MANAGEMENT. No matter what I do, FCP goes back to its original error and replicates it.
    Or can anyone figure out this wierdness?
    Meanwhile, I'll just keep hammering at it on non-chargeable time...
    g4, dual 1Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   2 internal, five firewire

    I think I get the "clapper slate" joke. 72 frames? I don't know...
    I'm just trying to get this job done.
    I found the FCP Rescue page, but the download page doesn't work. Can't find...
    But I did find a problem with my internal hard drive. Fixed with Disk Warrior, but in Disk Utility it couldn't unmount..nasty red notice. But now green and fixed, as are all my other drives.
    In QT, found the two clips. Pasted one into the other. But when I saved this under another name, QT CHANGED THE SIZE FROM 1920 X 1080 TO 950 X 540. Why does that happen? Now I note that the size change after paste has been consistent behavior. The original clips remain at 1920 x 1080.
    To make it clearer:
    ClipA (1920x1080) pasted into ClipB (1920x1080) saves as Clip C (950x540).
    When I view Clip C in QT, it looks correct. When I import I it into FCP, the problem comes back: the file reverts to frame 1 at 10:34. But I can look at them side by side, the correct version in QT and the truncated version in FCP, both reading the exact same file.
    Conundrum city.
    Needing to deliver product, I dragged this combined file into Toast, set the encoding to auto, and hope that I will get at least a viewable DVD, no titles, credits, dissolves. Let my producer explain our "technical problems."
    If I can ever get this job out, I've got a backlog of six reels to capture. How can I stop this from happening again? My immediate plan is to go into all the FCP folders and delete the media from all completed jobs.
    Someone did say to avoid using Capture Now. Do you agree with that? I've done a bit of logging, but the process is time-consuming and seems hard on the camera/player, all that stopping, starting and jockeying around. Capture Now is much faster, and the auto-numbering is fine. It's much faster to sort out the clips in the Browser than logging.
    But if Capture now is causing these problems, I would invest the time in logging (in just a few long clips) to save the serious malfunctions I am now having.

  • Here's a little bug (I think) in 10.06

    I loved the idea of multiple clip selection in events but this is what happened when I tried it.
    I did command + shift + i and o to select multiple clips and then just hit "e" to put them in the story line.
    But when I did a command +t  to add the default cross dissolve transition I got the error there wasn't enough media.
    Later I tried it again and iit worked.
    Can't tell what was different.

    Nope there were 15 minutes apart.
    But there were the first clips I tried in the project.
    Later on I tried again and it worked, but I already had clips in the project.

  • Ken Burns Crashes FCP X

    I am currently on 10.0.7 of FCP X.  I have noticed this bug since the last release, but not prior to that.  This occurs on my MacBook Pro (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 running MacOS 10.6.8) and also on my 11" MacBook Air.
    Basically, a third of the time that I add in a Ken Burns effect, the program crashes as soon as I go to adjust the START/END boxes.  The effect will still run as long as I don't touch the default positions of the boxes.  Once this occurs, I can not edit KB on that image, no matter how many times I restart FCP or the computer.
    This is a relatively new issue to me that hasn't gone away.  I have seen a prior thread from a year ago on this topic (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3707812) but the suggestions all point to a user file size issue which I don't think is the case here.  It is clearly a FCP bug that perhaps the Mac application development folks don't see on the combination of hardware/OS that they are using.
    Any thoughts on this?  Does anyone else see this bug?
    Thanks in advance for any tips,
    -Todd

    Tom,
    This happens on most movies I edit, but it may have something to do with size as it is usually after I'm 90 seconds or so into the flick.  All my movies are 720P or 1080P and the content is either from a GoPro HD camera (any of the 3 generations) or my Nikon Coolpix S8100 (video and stills).
    Today I was reminded that this problem happens with Ken Burns cropping video in addition to stills, so it is not limited to the file type.  Seems tied to the KB effect and perhaps (?) the size of my project.  I just don't see it on video as often as I rarely use this effect.
    Would it be useful to post or email the crash information that FCP provides when it restarts?  I always submit it to Apple, FWIW.
    I do have my media on an external drive when running FCP.  I use a USB slim drive for the Air and a FW GDrive on the Pro.  It is possible that I only see this problem when running the USB slim drive, but I can't confirm that (I usually see it on the Air, but currently am using the slim drive on the Pro and see the problem.)

  • Bug - multiple related instances of same class

    We've discovered a rather subtle bug in the process by which Kodo
    searches for reachable related objects to persist. If an instance of a
    PC class (A) has two relationships to the same PC class (B), and both
    related instances of B have the same value for their PK-field, then only
    one of the related instances of B will be persisted.
    Obviously, this problem only occurs in the context of application
    identity. We've only encountered it when all the instances involved are
    newly created and being made persistent for the first time (else the
    instances would have different PK-values). It should also be noted that
    we're assigning PK-values in jdoPreStore(). Here's the specific
    situation we encountered:
    Class A has two relationships to class B, represented by fields "B b1"
    and "B b2". In our case, A.b1 is the many-side of a bidirectional
    one-to-many relationship; the one-side is implemented by a field "List
    aList" in B. A.b2 is the navigable side of a unidirectional
    relationship; there is no corresponding field in B. (We haven't checked
    whether or how the cardinality or navigability of the relationships
    affects the problem.)
    Let "a1" be the sole instance of A. If a1.b1 is set to an instance of B
    but a1.b2 is null, and makePersistent( a1 ) is called, then a1 and b1
    are persisted correctly and the relation field b2_id in TableA is NULL.
    However, if a1.b2 is set to a second instance of B and both instances of
    B have the same initial value of their PK-field, then a.b2 is not
    persisted. Only one record is added to TableB; it corresponds to A.b1.
    Interestingly, in this case the relation field b2_id in TableA is not
    NULL, but has the default value of b2's PK-field. jdoPreStore() is not
    called on b2 and b2 is not persisted, but its PK-field is read in the
    process of persisting a1.
    Since we've placed the jdoPreStore() callback in a common non-persistent
    adapter superclass, we're currently able to work around the problem with
    a static "seed" PK value that is incremented in the superclass default
    constructor to provide a unique initial value for each PK-field. If
    anyone would like the code for this approach we'll post it, although
    it'll become unnecessary when the problem is fixed.

    I'm curious what behavior, besides throwing an exception, could even be
    possible. If the pm discovers two object with the same id, it seems that it
    has to choose one of them to make persistent. How could it possibly resolve
    differences in the fields of the two instances in deciding which one is the
    correct one to put in the db? Additionally, allowing this behavior could
    lead to subtle, difficult to detect bugs in your program, since ( as Abe
    points out ) JDO promises that there will only be one instance of an object
    with a given primary key per PM. Other code may make decisions based on
    this expectation ( like refreshing one of the objects after making a change
    in a different PM ), that would lead to problems for code still hanging on
    to the second instance.
    IMHO, it should throw an exception.

    Thanks for the bug report! However, I'm not entirely sure that this is a
    bug (at least not the bug you think it is); either way it's an extremely
    interesting case. The reason I say it might not be a bug is thatassigning
    pk values in jdoPreStore seems suspect.
    We know that a single PM cannot at any time contain multiple instances
    with the same oid value, app id or otherwise. This is obvious from the
    getObjectById method -- only one object can have a particular oid.
    We also know that jdoPreStore is called only for instances managed by a
    PM (duh!).
    Thus it should not be possible to see a case where jdoPreStore is
    called for 2 objects with the same initial oid.
    Now, I realize that when you're dealing with persistence-by-reachability
    things become less clear. However, I think the general point stands: at
    the time that the objects are made persistent they all must have unique
    oid values, and objects must be made persistent before jdoPreStore is
    called.
    Technically we could get around this. The current
    persistence-by-reachability algorithm is something like:
    flushed = {}
    while flushed.size < persistent.size:
    for each persistent instance:
    if instance not in flushed:
    instance.jdoPreStore // may persist more instances
    instance.persistFirstClassFields // may persist more too
    flushed += instance
    In sum this is a breadth-first method of persisting relations. It could
    be changed to a depth-first system instead of persisting all first class
    fields each one is persisted and then immediately the algorithm is
    repeated for that object before the other fields are touched. However,
    this seems like it might lead to other unexpected behavior.
    Generally, it just seems like waiting till jdoPreStore to assign the oid
    of an object seems like a bad idea. I think the real bug is that Kodo is
    not throwing an exception as soon as 2 object with the same oid are
    detected (currently it just lets one overwrite the other in the cache,
    which results in the behavior you see).
    Does anyone else have an opinion on this? I'm certainly not fixed on my
    interpretation of things; if you disagree I'd be very interested in
    hearing other arguments.

  • Flash not reading colour correctfrom an external PNG? Bug? Or am I missing something?

    Hi guys and gals.
    I have a very interesting bug I think.. Wondering if there is
    a way around the problem I'm having.
    ok.. Very Very simply script here..
    Make new flash movie..
    On frame one.. put this code.
    r=this.createEmptyMovieClip('currentImageMask',this.getNextHighestDepth());
    r.loadMovie('test.png');
    (because I'm lazy and didnt put in loading detection... on frame
    20 put this code.
    import flash.display.BitmapData;
    image_bitmap = new flash.display.BitmapData(r._width,
    r._height,false);
    image_bitmap.draw(r);
    curr_colour = this.image_bitmap.getPixel(5, 5); //0
    trace(curr_colour.toString(16));
    stop();
    Now... make a simple image with the rgb colour 100,100,100
    filled in it. (Mine is a simple 50x50 pixel image filled with that
    colour. save the png as "test.png" and put next to the fla with
    code above. You will see that the colour returned in the trace is
    not the hex value that matches color 100,100,100... it matches
    99,99,99. Flash isnt reading the colour correctly...
    Now this same test returns the correct color and works fine
    if using a .gif or a .jpg. but I cannot do what I want with these
    formats. it must be a png.. .it must read the rgb value 100%
    correct every time and the image MUST be loaded from an external
    file.
    It seems that regardless the rgb is off by one. so if colour
    was 25,25,25 it would be returned as 24,24,24
    Is there any other way to do what I need to do.. or is there
    a bug in my code.. please anyone help.. I'm pulling my hair out
    with what should be a simple damn thing to do.

    There are two reasons why I cant/wont to do that ....
    1... If it is a bug.. Adobe will fix it and my program will
    break... (Ina lot of places)
    2... the colour 0,0,0 comes back 0. teh coloru 1,1,1 also
    comes back 0... So regardless I cnat tell teh difference between
    0,0,0 and 1,1,1... (This is very important for the program to
    accuratly determine these colours)

  • JNI bug?

    Hi,
    I hope this is an OK place to report bugs. The opening message on the forum
    points to the website for bug reporting, but that's only about support and
    I'm not looking for support, I just want to report a bug (I think).
    Anyway. I'm playing with JRocket 7 over Win2K sp3. The version string is:
    $ ./java -version
    java version "1.4.0"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0)
    BEA Weblogic JRockit(R) Virtual Machine (build
    7.0-1.4.0-win32-GARAK-20020830-1714, Native Threads, Generational Concurrent
    Garbage Collector)
    I'm using JNI and though most things seem to work OK with JRocket, I've
    found that using JNI to call java.lang.Class.getDeclaredMethods() on any
    class object will trigger a Null pointer exception. The attached program
    demonstrates this. If you compile it up, and then call it with the full
    path to the JVM.DLL then it tries to print the results of listing all the
    methods of java.lang.Class. With Sun's J2SDK 1.4.1 (and before), and IBM's
    1.2-style JDK, it works fine. Using JRocket it throws a
    NullPointerException. I'm using all default options for JRocket.
    I'm using the CallObjectMethodA() function with a NULL argument array to
    invoke the method ('cos that's what my real code does), but providing a real
    non-NULL array, or using the varags form, CallObjectMethod(), makes no
    difference.
    BTW, I'm finding a few other places where JR's JNI is inconsistent with
    Sun's (not necessarily bugs, though I think some are). Should I post them
    here ? Or email someone ? Or just keep 'em to myself ;-)
    -- chris
    [JNITest.zip]

    Staffan,
    I had a look at this and can confirm
    that this is indeed a problem in JRockit. Unfortunately there is no easy
    workaround other than calling Class.getDeclaredMethods() from a Javamethod
    instead of directly from JNI. Can you explain a bit more about your
    application and what you want to achieve?Thank for confirming the bug (which, incidentally also affects the other
    get[Declared]{Field/Method/Constructor/Class}[s] methods -- with the
    exception of getInterfaces(), for some reason).
    What I'm doing is using JNI to drive the JVM from Smalltalk. I'm using
    reflection to generate (on-the-fly) wrapper (Smalltalk) classes
    corresponding to Java classes and whose instances internally use JNI to
    invoke the Java methods, etc. So it's rather important that reflection
    actually works ;-)
    There's no great difficulty in setting up a forwarding Java class that
    invokes the reflection methods of java.lang.Class, and the forwarding
    class's methods can be invoked from JNI without problems, so I've been able
    to put together a patch that allows my stuff to work over JRockit.
    You asked about the other inconsistencies I've found. There are only 3 (now
    I've had a chance to analyse what I was seeing a bit better -- not to
    mention getting rid of a couple of bugs of my own...). None is especially
    important, and they are kind of esoteric too, but FWIW:
    The JNI DefineClass() method: Sun's implementation will accept NULL values
    for either or both of the name and the class loader. JRockit seems to get
    an access violation (this is on Windows) if given a NULL name, and
    apparently calls exit() if it is given a NULL class loader. I think that
    the Sun behaviour is better since both the name and the classloader are
    optional using the Java interfaces.
    Given a couple of Java classes:
    class Base
    Base(int i) {}
    Base(boolean b) {}
    class Derived
    extends Base
    Derived(int i) {}
    Attempting to use one of Base's constructors as if they were "inherited" by
    Derived acts differently on Sun and JRockit. Code like (I'm typing this off
    the top of my head):
    jclass derived = jnvEnv->findClass("Derived");
    jmethod mid = jniEnv->GetMethodID(derived, "<init>", "(Z)V");
    jvalue args[1];
    args[1].z = true;
    jobject new = jniEnv->CallConstructorA(derived, mid, args);
    will fail on Sun's VM since the call to GetMethodID() will fail with a
    NoSuchMethodError (correctly, I think) whereas JRockit will return a handle
    on the constructor with the same signature in the superclass. When that
    "inherited" constructor is then used the created object is of class Base,
    even though the constructor was invoked on Derived.
    Given the following:
    class Base { public static int ambiguous = 100; }
    interface Interface { int ambiguous = -100; }
    class Derived extends Base implements Interface { }
    Any reference to Derived.ambiguous from Java will trigger a compile-time
    error. However it is legal to do the equivalent from JVM bytecodes (a
    getstatic with class="Derived" name="ambiguous" type="I") and is defined (as
    I read the spec) to be -100. I.e. the JVM resolves the field reference to
    the interface. Under both the Sun and JRockit JVMs that works as expected.
    Doing the equivalent from JNI:
    jclass derived = jniEnv->findClass("Derived");
    jfield fid = jniEnv->GetFieldID(derived, "ambiguous", "I");
    jint value = jniEnv->GetStaticIntField(derived, fid);
    returns -100 on Sun's JVM (which is what I'd expect), but returns 100 on
    JRockit (which I think is wrong).
    Like I said, esoteric...
    Hope this helps.

  • Bug in the Forms 5 ?

    Hi All!
    I develop with a Forms Builder 5.0.6.18.1 and I've found a serious bug I
    think.
    Just try to do the following things:
    1.Connect as user "A".
    2.Create a stored procedure which does something like this:
    function c is
    x number;
    begin
    select count(*) into x from example;
    exception ....
    end;
    return x;
    3.Create a table called example and insert only one row into it.
    4.Create a form a numeric field on it and a button on it.
    5.Create a when-button-pressed trigger onto the button and call the
    function c.
    6.Display the returning value to check the result.
    7.Call the form and check the result.
    8.Connect as user "B".
    9.Copy the same function which "A" has.
    10.Create a table example as we did in the schema "A".
    11.Insert two rows into it.
    12.Finally the most important thing: Try to run the form with "A" and
    "B" too!
    I've figured out that doesn't matter you are connected as user "B" the
    form calls that function which you've compiled in the other schema last
    time! If you compile the form with schema "B" and you call the form from
    "A" the "B"`s function will be run and vice versa. (Just try to drop
    "B"`s function and run the form in "A", ORA-004067 will appear.)
    tia and bye.,Sanya

  • Bug concerning ADF security

    Just wanted to make a thread about this strange behavior when working with ADF security. Discovered it was a bug (i think).
    I have just enabled ADF security in my project after reading chapter 28 of the developers manual and watching Franks tutorials on the Code Core center. I was having trouble implementing it and thought I was just doing it wrong. It seemed so simple in the manual. The trouble I was having was that if I granted some access to a task flow or a web page to a application role or to the anonymous role it wouldn't become active. No changes made in the jazn-data.xml would make any different. Next day when I started up again it all worked. But making further changes would also not become active. I looked ad the logs and noticed the following error in the deploy process:
    +[Running application Health_Project1 on Server Instance DefaultServer...]+
    Uploading jazn-data identities.
    Uploading jazn-data policies.

    After some digging I found that this was a bug related to the application path. The application was located in "My Documents" with the path c:\Documents and Settings\.......
    It is no good to have space in the application path. After I moved the application to a more simple like path c:\dev\sb\mywork the ADF security worked fine. Changes in policies would become affective immediately. Later I ran into the same problem but this time the application path was simple but the application name had an underscore in it "my_project". By removing the underscore and making the application name MyProject along with changing all the properties, xml and connection files the ADF security worked like it should.
    So in short:
    ** Don't have a space in the path where the application is stored.*
    ** Don't have a underscore in the application name.*
    Please comment if I'm wrong. This post is just for information if other users are running into similar problems.
    Best regards,
    Sturla Thor

    hi,
    if you delete this line
    <property value="doasprivileged" name="oracle.security.jps.jaas.mode"/>
    in the jsp-config.xml you can at least use your application with authentication but authorization doesn't work b/c the subject does not contain the principals:
    ADFContext.getCurrent().getSecurityContext().getUserRoles();
    returns an empty String[].
    Is there a workaround?
    Cheers Andy

  • LCM - 11.1.2.3 - Not sure if bug or not

    Hi,
    We perform all LCM exports of an entire application that is Classic not EPMA.    On the target server we create a data source with same name as source.  We perform all the imports and there are no errors in any step.  We validate the various artifacts to make sure they migrated.  We start comparing the outlines and in the source outline the YearTotal member is Dynamic Calc.  After migrating the target outline is 'Store Data' for YearTotal.   I checked the source in Manage Dimensions to make sure it was Dynamic Calc and nobody modified the .otl directly.
    Does anyone know if this is a know issue with LCM or should we be logging yet another ticket?
    Thanks.  I have no access to try and look this up.

    The LCM export .csv file shows 'dynamic calc'.   I manually changed it to 'Label Only', refreshed.  I then re-imported the same export that clearly shows 'dynamic calc' and it didn't change it.  Hmm....  Has to be a bug I think.  But not sure if it's already on Oracle's radar.

  • Color Bars and tone in FCP X?

    Just downloaded FC"P" X and having a look around I cant find Color Bars or Tone anywhere...?
    Did a quick search on the help... but couldn't find anything.
    Surely I must be missing something here - they must be available right!!?
    I know I could output some from my deck or earlier version of FCP but thats not the point really is it. What possible reason on God's green earth could there be for omitting something so simple. Sorry but most del specs (even for digital tapeless) require bars and tone.
    Can someone point me in the right direction - they must be in here somewhere.
    Thanks in advance
    J

    If I were to use FC X for a delivery then that would be the way to go I suppose.
    Or generate b+t on the deck and ingest to the computer and then import to fcp.
    Dont think I'll be using FC X for anything in the short term though. Just playing around. See where it goes.
    So many odd decisions - why get rid of a perfectly good, simple feature like "make freeze frame" - I know you can do it using the retime tool now but its a round about way of doing things.
    Sorry if sounded rude - there are so many crazy Apple fan boys willing to jump on people here at the slightest hint of criticism :-)
    Thanks
    J
