P2 MBP adapter vs P2 Store

On a shoot right now and am using the P2 store (via USB 2.0) to download files. all's well, but speed isn' the greatest. Will download speeds with the P2 duel adapter be faster. A local vendor claims that it will be up to 5 times faster. Is this a valid comparison of USB 2 vs. express 34?
thanks for the help!

Who's on first?
Exactly what I was thinking..."Who's on first?"
I was anticipating what drivers I needed once I received the adapter on set. I wanted my MPB to be ready to get plugged by the adapter and begin downloading P2 cards. Sorry for any confusion on my part.
The adapter driver and the panasonic P2 driver were needed. Eventually got it working, but speeds are inconsistent, but better overall than the Store.
thanks for responding and helping out.

  • Need to replace MBP adapter

My late-2007 MBP adapter cable finally frayed and shorted. Can I replace it with this adapter: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7776294&st=apple+adapter&type=prod uct&id=1142302604818

Look closely at the frayed area; any signs of overheating as opposed to plain old wear and tear? If so, you are near an Apple Store, you might have them look at it. There have been reports here where someone had a similar problem and the store techs determined the fault was not normal wear and replaced the adaptor even after the warranty period expired.
No guarantee that this will be your solution but it's worth a shot.

  • BizTalk Runtime configuration error - "Creation of Adapter FILE Configuration Store entries failed"

    Hi,
I am trying to install Biztalk Server 2006 R2 on a Vista Ultimate
edition machine. I completed the installation successfully, and have
configured "Enterprise SSO" and "Group" features. I am getting the
following error while configuring the BizTalk Runtime feature.
"Creation of Adapter FILE Configuration Store entries failed.
The SSO system is currently disabled."
I have already done/tried the following:
    1. I tried different settings - Inprocess only, Inprocess and
isolated, each trusted, each with a regular user account and each with
an administrator user account. In all cases I get the same error.
    2. I have made the changes suggested here (related to rpc
authentication changes after Windows XP SP2) but it still doesnt
    change anything: http://blogs.msdn.com/scottwoo/archive/2004/05/19/135453.aspx
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Anand

I'm having a similar installation error on an XP SP2 box and was getting the same error message (Creation of Adapter FILE Configuration Store entries failed. The SSO system is currently disabled.).  I checked and the Enterprise SSO application is not appearing in the list of services, and doing a command line "net start ENTSSO" returns an invalid service error.
So going on the theory that SSO did not install correctly and get registered as a server, I went ahead and uninstalled BizTalk/SSO, blew away BTS/SSO databases, and tried to reinstall (selected all options for install).
After BizTalk installed, I entered a local admin account and chose "Custom" installation.  Because the error message pointed at an SSO problem, I tried to apply the SSO configuration ONLY, using the default SSO Administrator/Affiliate Administrator accounts with the default admin account, but it keeps failiing at the same point in the install log when it tries to start SSO (see log below).

[10:30:52 AM Info SSOServerCfg] (ssoconfigobj2.cpp:5892) The SSO service state is: The service is starting (SERVICE_START_PENDING)
[10:30:53 AM Info SSOServerCfg] (ssoconfigobj2.cpp:5892) The SSO service state is: The service is not running (SERVICE_STOPPED)
The SSO database does get created, but the SSO Administrators and SSO Affiliate Administrators local groups do not.
So my theory here is that for some reason SSO cannot start, the exception is caught and the app rolls back.
    Any ideas?

  • Could I have purchased an i7 13" MBP non-retina in-store?

    Hey everyone!
Back in October, I purchased the 13" non-retina display MBP at my nearest Apple Store. I really wanted to get the higher-end i7 version (as it was listed on the website) but, I wasn't asked if I wanted to configure it to higher specs when I was in-store. At the time, I was only given the option between the retina and non-retina model so I went with the non-retina because it was cheaper but, I found out it only had an i5 processor. Now, I'm kinda stuck with the lowest-end mid-2012 MBP.
So, is configuring a MacBook Pro an online-only thing or could I have configured it in-store?

    Hi d,
From everything I've ever read, seen, heard and experienced, you have to do a build-to-order Mac online, so don't beat yourself up.

  • US MBP adapter can be used in UK ?

I bought my MBP here in US. I will be visiting UK next week. Can I use the Power Adapter there ? I believe they have a different type of plugs.

Yes, you will need an adapter plug, which you can buy in the US in drugstores, at the airport, and even in the UK. The Power Adapter is dual voltage. You can also buy at Apple a travel set with various adapters, which you hook on he Power Adapter.

  • Buying a MBP in the apple store at the mall

Alright, I am going to get a MBP for the first time and I am so excited about it that I might just go to the store to get it instead of buying it online and waiting for it to be shipped to me. My question is, does the store in the mall have MBP tailored to each specification you can have so I can pick it up the day I come in to buy it? Or do I give them my specifications and then wait a few days to go back in to pick it up? I'm just wondering what the buying experience is like since I've never owned a mac. Switching from a PC

Or you can go to the store, and order it online.  They will advise you through the process though.  Might be a good idea since you will be switching from a PC and they might have some info that you weren't aware of in that "other world."

  • MBP and the Apple store

I am going to be ordering my MBP, Final Cut Studio, and various and sundry items very shortly. I live 150+ miles from the nearest brick and morter store. Would yall order online or drive the 2 1/2 hrs to get there? My wife is a teacher so we want the academic discounts.
    JD

It really depends. If you're going to buy online, I would recommend buying from amazon.com. They have gret, super-fast free shipping, no tax and the best return process/policies out of all online stores in my experience. If something is wrong with the computer, it will be a no-hassle experience. The online applestore is fine, but not as fast shipping and you have to pay tax. The return period is also shorter (14 days compared to 30 days with amazon). So, to sum up, amazon is the way to go for online purchases.
I've bought at my local apple store a few times and it was fine. It's like buying cookies behind the counter: you tell them what you want, they get it for you and you pay. through your ears! The only benefit I can see with buying at a store is that it will always be less hassle if you have a problem and need a replacement, but that's only valid if you live near the store.
Just for your reference, and I hope I don't scare you, I've returne MANY defect macbook pros to amazon without a hitch - problems ranging from squeaky keyboards to uneven illumination of the display. They are great to deal with and , unlike Apple sometimes, they don't question the defects. Apple often dismisses things as being 'within specifications' even if they guy who bought the computer before you doesn't have the issue.
Just go with whoever you think provides the most convenient and flexible experience, but don't forget to take into account how problems will be dealt with!

  • Glossy MBPs available in Apple Stores?

Hi All, I've been on assignment abroad for 6 months and will be coming back to the States for a few days and want to pick up a 15/17 MBP....quick question, are the glossy displays typically available in stock at the Apple Stores or are they special order? Thanks....

I have yet to see one in stores. I received my MBP with a glossy screen a few days ago. I think it is 100% an improvement over the matte. I get hardly any glare, and have already tested it outside in full sunlight. Inside, glare is practically a non issue. I'm surprised at all the people who won't even give it a chance.

  • Bought MBP for US apple store, Canadian Rebate?

I bought the MBP off of the US online store with a printer. I was just wondering if I can use the candian rebate form instead of the US one. Will my rebate be denied if I use the candian rebate form? Also, do I have to cut the MBP box to get the rebate or can I just peel off the UPC label?

These are AppleCare questions. Call AppleCare.

  • Bad Power Adapter - no apple store nearby

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro that is still under warranty, and the power adapter has decided to stop working. However, I am on Cape Cod and there are no Apple Stores in my area. How can I get my adapter replaced? Will they do it over the phone, and where should I call? I need this done ASAP, my laptop is going to die and I have no way of charging it...

If you can't contact the store where it was purchased then call Apple and ask to speak with somebody in Customer Relations, explain the problem and they might be able to arrange to post you a new power pack and return the other. If they do this they will want credit card details to cover the cost if they find the adapter to be OK. Your other option is to contact on of the authorised dealers in the area and see what they can do for you.

    *1.*
Click the Create Adapter icon and choose Local Store Adapter.
    *2.*
    Enter the Adapter name LSA.
    *3.*
    Leave Template set to Default.
    *4.*
    Click Next.
    *3.*
    On the Settings page:
    *1.*
    Enter the Adapter Suffix/Namespace dc=oracle,dc=com.
    *2.*
    Enter data/localDB for Database File.
    *3.*
Use the default values for the rest of the fields on the Settings page.
    *4.*
    Click Next.
    *4.*
Review the summary page and click Finish if everything looks correct.
    Note:
If, for some reason, you decide to delete the adapter and create a new one, use a different Adapter name and a different Database File name.
    *5.3 Adding Entries*
Create an entry in the local store as follows:
    *1.*
Using a text editor, create an LDIF file that looks like this:
    version: 1
    dn: dc=oracle,dc=com
    objectclass: top
    objectclass: domain
    dc: oracle
    *2.*
Access Oracle Directory Services Manager, as described in "Accessing Oracle Directory Services Manager".
    *3.*
    Click the Data Browser tab.
    *4.*
    Highlight dc=oracle,dc=com under Client View.
    *5.*
    Click the Import LDIF icon.
    *6.*
Browse to the LDIF file you created and click Open.
When I try to import the ldif I have this error:

    Can you help me?
    best regardes

    Hi Saggu,
You are absolutely right. It's working fine now. I need to know one more like performance.
If i have three adapters in the adapter configuration, and 21 adapters in the adapter configuration.
Which kind of configuration will help to improve the performance?
    Two Scenarios:
    1. Three Adapters
    2. 21 Adapters.
    Explanation:
    1. Adapters are mapped at Root DN level.
    Example: dc=company,dc=groups,dc=com
    2. Adapters are mapped to interior level.
    Example: ou=Firstgroup,o=initialemp,dc=company,dc=group,dc=com
Based on the above two scenarios which mapping is the best regarding the performance level.
Can you please suggest me on this performance issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sandeep D

  • MBP w/ MB power adapter?

has anyone tried to use the MB power adapter with the MBP? or the other way around? I'm scared to try, but having both computers it'd be nice to use just one powercable...

You can use the MBP adapter for the MB - it will only draw the power it needs with no harm to the MB. The MB adapter will power your MBP, or charge the battery, but not both. No harm there either (like the MagSafe airline adapter, which powers the computer but does not charge the battery) - it's just not the most efficient set up.
    Hope this helps...

  • I have a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, then I purchased 3 VGA adapters: a VGA to HDMI, VGA to Component, and VGA to RCA. When I hook them up to my TV (I've tried multiple TVs) they do not detect a display, even when I click Detect Displays.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a solution for this?  The only other Mini DP I found was a HDMI connection.  I want to make sure I can connect to not only TV's via HDMI, Component or RCA, but also projectors (some of which may be older requiring a Component or RCA connection).
    I'm using this Mini DisplayPort:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTA4NDU0NjA
These are the VGA Adapters I'm using:
    VGA to HDMI:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OLCHJ6
    VGA to Component:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P3Q0YW
    VGA to RCA:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

None of the three lower adapters pictured in your post will do you any good with your MBP.
    1. The VGA-HDMI adapter does the reverse of what you want: it yields VGA output from HDMI input. The opposite is not possible; a VGA input does not contain all the information necessary to create an HDMI output. You'll have to get a direct mini-Displayport-to-HDMI adapter instead.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
    2. VGA-Component: Lots of posters here when the MDP-equipped MBs and MBPs first came out tried adapters like this one with no success. What does work with the MDP (and a VGA adapter) is a converter box like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Startech-Component-YPbPr-Video-Converter/dp/B000G6Y0S6
    3. VGA-Composite: This doesn't work with MBPs either. For Composite or S-Video output, you need a converter box like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/PC-To-TV-Video-Converter/dp/B001CJOLBW/ref=pd_cp_e_2
    or this:
    http://www.startech.com/AV/Converters/Video/High-Resolution-PC-VGA-to-TV-Convert er-with-Remote-Control~VGA2NTSCPRO
These converter boxes will work fine in combination with your Apple MDP-VGA adapter.

  • Mini Displayport to HDMI Adapter Problems!!!

Okay so I have a MacBook Pro running OS X version 10.5.8.
2.4 GHz intel core 2 duo
And I recently got a Phillips flat screen tv with HDMI hook ups.
So naturally I wanted to connect my Mac.
So I went to Best Buy and purchased the Rocketfish mini displayport to HDMI adapter.
However upon connecting everything to my computer, nothing happened.
No picture came up on my tv, no sound, no change at all.
My computer doesn't even say there's a device connected.
Is there some sort of steps to setting it up?
I was under the impression I'd just have to plug it in and it would work.
Do I need to get another adapter?
    Please help!
    Thank you!

Took the MBP to the apple store. The display port works fine.
Embarassingly the tech pointed out the USB plug on the adaptor which I hadn't connected thinking it would be for another peripheral. Hey presto it worked!
    Red faced thanks!
