P2055dn random very intermittent duplicate page is printed.

On WinXP machines; we have upgraded from LJ2200 to the LJ P2055dn on 2 systems, and about once a month while printing groups of checks - one will duplicate. We tell our software the starting check # and use pre printed checks. About once a month each of the computers/printers will duplicate a check at random. The remaining checks in that batch then have to be voided, discarded, and reprinted costing time, money, and IT face. Has anyone else seen this problem? We have never had this happen with the older LaserJet 2200's in better than 4 years. Does anyone have any ideas to help remedy the situation?

Very intermittent missing page regions / report rows / page item values

My goals in making this posting are twofold:
1. I'm looking to see if anyone else has experienced this type of issue before.
2. I'm looking for ideas about what can be done to debug such an infrequent bug with serious implications.
Synopsis
I'm having a weird problem where very infrequently I will load a page and I'll notice that one or more page regions, report rows, or page item values are missing. If I reload the page the missing parts appear as they normally should.
By "very infrequently" I would say it happens to me somewhere between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000 page loads, of course at my last project demonstration in happened twice in 10 minutes to my demo participants. I've attempted to debug this, but most of the techniques I know of involve reloading the page or reposting the form data and (of course) everything looks fine then.
Environment
* This has happened on multiple different pages, under ApEx 3.1 (Linux) and 3.2 (Solaris).
* I believe that so far I've only ever seen this under Firefox 3/3.5 under OSX, but since I do the vast majority of my development with this browser it's not reasonable to conclude that it only happens under Firefox.
Logs
* No application errors during this timeframe.
* Nothing of significance in the database alerts log (just thread notes and log sequences).
* Nothing of significance in the webserver log (just the usual mod_ossl connection errors).

Well, thanks for reading the post anyway.
While working through some debugging steps I realized that I was populating some of the regions as the page rendered using AJAX -- this would pause the page rendering until the AJAX request returned. I believe that a hanging AJAX call was the likely culprit of the very intermittent symptoms I was seeing.
I moved the AJAX calls to the last region of the page and added a javascript function that "watches the page load" by checking for regions by ID and looking at javascript boolean flags to let me know when the page is fully rendered. If this process takes longer than 5 seconds it notifies the user that something happened and offers to reload the page for them in an effort to fix the issue.
So far, so good -- but it will take a lot of testing to convince me that this case is solved. I hope my documenting this is helpful for others in similar situations.

I have a pdf file with as many as 10,000 pages, which actually should has 6,000 pages. The extra duplicate 4,000 pages are randomly distributed in the file without any discipline. Do we have such as tool can scan, compare and pick out the duplicate pages by a batch processing so that I don't need to do this manually. You can manual mark the duplicate pages with comments. After this you can delete the marked pages with Acrobat Javascript.

HP LaserJet P2055dn that is on the network doesnt always print all pages in print job

We have 4 of these printers on our network. It is very sporadic but when users print they do not always get all of the pages from the print job. Sometimes the additional pages will come 30 - 40 minutes after print job was processed sometimes they don't ever come. I have watched the print jobs go to the print server and then to the local print queue and it looks like everything prints although there are sometimes these lingering pages that do not come out (or come out at a later time). There are not other documents being printed at the time so that is not the issue. Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

oh, my! That was so long ago. But, if i recall correctly, when i pulled off the top of the printer, there was a very small wire with a plastic connector on the end that had pulled appart when i removed the top. I probably had to use tweezers in order to reconnect it. sorry for the foggy details, but that is what resides upstairs these days! good luck.

except this major point i must admit the quality is quite good , but a bick lack of quality control and a customer disapointed at the end.
On the internet site it is not possible to send it back. So apple doesn't want to take in account that they mail sometimes fail, and want to satisfy their customer, because you have no other choice that accepting it.

Random words disappear from pdf and printed page

I work for a newspaper and we have had an ongoing problem from week to week of random words dropping off pages. It happens with the same font family each time but usually only occurs on one page a week. These fonts are used throughout the entire paper and has no problems in other places. The problem seems totally random. I usually send groups of pages (about 25)and the printer then extracts the pages.
They say the words sometimes drop off when the pages are extracted in acrobat.
I'm using indesign cs6, with the default "high quality print" setting. The font in question is the Knockout family from the Hoefler foundry. It is open type.
Does anyone have a solution for this? We had an entire headline drop off last week resulting in the printer having to reprint the entire paper... Not so good.
I have tried reinstalling the font but it has not helped.

Yes I export directly from InDesign and then send the files via FTP after that. Once they receive the files, they they use the Document/Extract tool within Acrobat to separate the files. Apparently this is when they find that letters on the page have been replaced by X'd out boxes.
Their fix is to open the orignal set of pages in Photoshop and rasterize the problem page. I would rather they don't do this so that we don't lose quality. Also, when fonts drop from the page, they can be easily overlooked by an unattentive printer.

When I print large PDF's of 10+ pages I get multiple duplicate pages.

When I print large PDF's of 10+ pages the print order goes in the following sequence.
Page 1, Page 1-2, Page 1-2-3, Page 1-2-3-4, Page 1-2-3-4-5 .... and continues in that fassion until the printer is out of paper.
When a smaller document prints it comes out fine like page 1-9 in sequesnce as it should. I am using Windows XP Pro SP3 fully patched and Adobe Reader X 10.1.3. This is very strange as there is only one machine in the office that is doing it and I have tried instalingin and reinstalling the printers and the Adobe readr in order to fix this and there isn't really anything that I can find that might be causing the issue.

Is there a way to split a very large 1 page pdf into letter size multiple page pdf?

I often have very large single page pdfs that need to be printed onto letter size paper. Usually I don't have access to the printer where I'm working so I have to send the file to someone for printing.
I have AXI pro, they don't.
I want to make sure the job is printed as I specify and most of the users are using Reader. So I want to give the someone the pdf ready to print sized in legal. This requires manipulation of the pdf that I don't seem to be able to figure out how to do.
In older versions of Acrobat, I could print to a new pdf and designate the page size. Acrobat would create the multipage pdf. The newer versions don't allow this.
With OSX 10.8 & AXI you can't save, export, split a one page (68" x 16") document into multiple page letter size (16 pages) pdf.
Perhaps this can be done by printing to eps and running through distiller again or something else, but I'm stumped at the moment.
Any suggestions of how to attach this would be appreciated.

That's a tough one. Acrobat is not designed for tiling PDF files to create another PDF. That's really what you're asking. There is the option to PRINT to a PDF, and turn on the Poster feature. If were in Windows where there is a real Adobe PDF printer driver, you could probably use that feature. But for various reasons (too complicated to describe here), that was withdrawn on the Macintosh.
If you have a copy of Adobe InDesign, and if you installed an Adobe PDF 9 PPD file (see description below), it could be done in a somewhat awkward way. InDesign allows you to place PDF files so you would need to make a page of the proper size and place your large PDF:
Then after installing the Adobe PDF 9 PPD file, you could choose File > Print. Then choose to print a PostScript file to the Adobe PDF 9.0 PPD file. In the Setup panel, you'd choose a Letter size page. Then you'd choose the Tile option at the bottom and set the Overlap amount:

How do I produce a duplicate page, without having spare pages at the end?

I am a basic user, who is currently trialing the adobe acrobat and Livecycle Design programs...
I am practising the preparation of a report which could have an individuals personal details in "page 1" and the report in pages 2-8 for example...
If I wanted to include, lets say, 5 individuals on the same report, is there a way in which I can have a drop down box, which could ask "how many individuals are in this report" and I could select "5" from a drop down box, causing adobe to add additional pages and duplicate page 1 five times.
Or, at the end of page 1, could I have a tick box or any other type of button which could state "If you have another individual, please "tick box/add/etc". Also adding a new page with the blank page 1 format.
At the moment, I have added blank copies of page 1 at the end of the report. The option described would stop me having to print every report I completed with several blank copies of "page 1" when they may not be required.
It also prevents me from completing the report then printing it, reseting the form and printing page 1 for each individual (5 times in my example)

Create PDF Online is a subscription service on Adobe's web site which
only makes PDF files, nothing else, so it won't help you.

When will Mozilla correct the printing bug with Firefox where only 1 page is printed?

There is a problem with FireFox whereby it only prints the FIRST PAGE of many sites.
Searching the web on this, it seems that this problem has been around for a long time and even what the cause is.
Apparently FireFox interprets the html text "overflow: hidden" as meaning to 'hide' all the rest of the page when printing.
Many users have reported this problem, but to date it has not been adressed.
Please correct this Mozilla (Or do I have to go back to using Safari?)

Unexpected size in Tray 1, Load A4 and press OK; 1st page of a multi page document prints fine...

Hello everybody, I have an annoying issue with a HP Laserjet Pro 100 MFP M175nw. The issue is that printing from any application and any PC platform (read Windows XP, 7 and 8.x, Mac OSX SnowLeopard and Linux) the first page is printed without a problem but the second page and the rest of the pages never get printed without intervention. The printer simply stops after printing the first page, the control panel display shows the message "Unexpected size in tray 1" "Load A4 and press OK." pressing OK button the 2nd page is printed, for the 3rd and the nth page same procedure.... The printer is out of warranty and HP does not provide any support on this subject. Printer is using genuine HP drum and toner cartridges. This isssue came up after having printed in total approximatively 7000+ (bw & color) pages in the past 2 years. The paper size used is A4, the printer is configured to use this paper by default. To remedy the problem checked all suggestions by HP provided online and checked some Dutch (HP) forums without finding a proper solution. Followed all advice such as resetting the printer, reinstalling drivers, updated firmware, using HP doctor.., replaced and changed paper lot several times, replaced toners etc etc ect no luck in printing whole documents without intervention. The issue is that printing from any application and any PC platform using either PCL or PS, USB or Ethernet or wireless (read Windows, Mac OSX and Linux) the first page is printed without a problem but the second page and the rest of the pages never get printed without intervention. The printer simply stops after printing the first page, continues to do something, lots of noise, displays printer cooling down or so message on the control panel and immediately afterwards the control panel display shows the message "Unexpected size in tray 1" "Load A4 and press OK." I am no expert in hardware but I do know enough about using the PC; I guess the problem is related to hardware which is logical as all mainstream PC platforms display same behavior. I could surely carry-in the printer to a HP service center but the price they charge would urge me to spend the money on a new printer; not HP branded one that is. Only page 1 prints well. Page 2 is offset to the right and information is lost at the page break. FireFox 8 and 9, Mac OS 10.6.8

If I print a web page, either just print or save as PDF, only the first page prints well. Page 2 is offset to the right such that the information is cut off at the right edge. Information is lost at the page break, several lines of text will be lost. If I need to print a page, I open Safari, which does a very nice job of formating the page for print. But I want to use FireFox. Can you help me?

Pages always prints envelopes upside down

When using Pages to print envelopes, my HP laserjet always prints the envelope upside down. Apple and HP indicate I shoudl feed the envelopes with the top to the right. This works properly with everyother piece of software I have used
I know, when I use Pages I could just change the orientation of the envelope in the envelope feed slot, or check "reverse page orientation" in the Print dialog (so the envelope is upside down in the print preview.) But I'd prefer not to have to remember random procedures to accomodate software malfunctions. Is there some preference I can set in Pages (or something) to fix this so it works correctly?
PS.I hate to post this as a question, but the Apple Support Communities (SW platform, not the people ) has sort of forces this.
Why in the world does it present "Ask a question" as the main option. Initially I skipped that, but the community search funcion really *****. Searching is incredibly non-intuitive and poorly targeted (If I'm in the pages section why is it giving me totally unrelated results from unrelated sections?

No help on your actual question, but some comments on the search function here.
Search offers the choice of limiting the searsch to a specific community/forum when the first results are presented. You can also limit the search to a specific user.
The basic search is a keyword search, and turns up any post that has that keyword in it (with some weighting added by then software). Searches search for "Any" of the terms included in the query unless you limit the results using commands such as AND or NEAR. Not all that intuitive, I'll agree.
One other feature of the ASC site is the 'related' topics list, "More Like This," that appears after you've submitted a query. You'll find the list to the right of the message(s) in the community. A click opn the (green) checked items will often provide a solution to your(well described) issue.
None marked 'solved' on the list at this time, but some worth exploring for hints or a solution.

Firefox 17 on Windows 7 prints blank pages after printing selection

I need to be able to highlight text on a webpage and print only that text using the print selection inside the file/print tab. However, instead, I am getting only that highlighted text AND then blank pages (with headers and footers) keep printing (how many pages that print depends on the actual size of the webpage).
I have Windows 7, 32bit and Firefox 17. I updated Firefox this morning and restarted but the problem still exists. I did not have this problem when I had Windows XP.
The print selection works properly in IE9.

What I get is blank pages ''before'' the selection but not after. You get blank pages for the entire document? That's especially unhelpful.

After installing this add-on, when you have a selection and right-click it, you can choose "Remove everything else" to isolate the text for printing. Note that you need to reload the page to see the rest of the content again.

Before learning about the above, I wrote a small script to isolate the selection for printing. I wouldn't use it if you are filling in a form, making a purchase, etc., since the script duplicates part of the page and this may break the form. On the other hand, at least there is some level of undo without reloading the page.

Sapscript bottom text in Main, just for the last page, but printing only in the last page

I need to print a text but only for the last page in the main window.
I have tried with IF.
IF &PAGE& = &SAPSCRIPT-FORMPAGES&
BOTTOM
....TEXT
ENDBOTTOM
ENDIF
But it prints in all pages in every main window.
Can someone point me what I am doing wrong or how can I do this?

the problem with this condition is the following.
The Sapscript composer cannot know during the processing of e.g. the first page,
how many pages will follow. So &SAPSCRIPT-FORMPAGES& still contains the same
value like& PAGE& and is filled with the correct values only at the very end of the processing.
(when the total number of pages is known).
So I suggest you to use the BOTTOM command in the print program,
when the processing of all item of the MAIN window is ended.
There is an other variable &NEXTPAGE&. &NEXTPAGE& will always be 0
when it reaches to last page to print. The problem with this variable that
it can not be used in a condition in MAIN window too, only in a separate page window.
