P2V Effort Estimation

I would like to understand if you have experience with P2V pricing.
Example: How much do I need to spend to get my one Physical Machine converted to Virtual Machine.
I have my ESXi environment, P2V tools are already in place.
Looking for rough figure along with efforts(Man Days) needed
Below are areas I foresee of Effort Estimation
Activity                            Man Hrs/Server
Data Collection (Inventory)
Application Compatibility
Utilization
Capacity Planning Per Server(CPU,RAM,DisksSpace)
Conversion from Physical to Virtual using Conversion Tool
Post Build testing (Stress test, UAT)
Operational Acceptance
Build ESXi Host

Hi,
IF it's a report u can estimate it through se30(runtime analysis).  U will get percentages in that tool.
u go se30 and enter u r programe or transaction and click 'analyge'  button on the bottom.
Reward points if useful.

  • Best Practice for Portal Patches and effort estimation

    Hi ,
One of our client is applying the following patches
    1. ECC 6.0 SP15(currently SP14)
    2. ESS MSS SP15(currently SP14 with some level of functional customization )
    3. EP 7 SP18(currently SP14)
We would like to kwow the best practice for applying portal patches and the effort estimation for redoing the portal devt on the new patch.
o   What is the overall level of effort with applying Portal patches?
o   How are all the changes to SAP objects handle?  Do they have to be
         manually re-entered?
o  What is the impact of having a single NWDI instance across the
Portal Landscape during the Patch process?
    Regards,
    Revathi Raju.

    Hi Revathi,
o What is the overall level of effort with applying Portal patches?
overall effort to apply the patch is apprx 1/2-1 days for NW7 system. This is exclude the patch files download because it's based on your download speed.
o How are all the changes to SAP objects handle? Do they have to be
    manually re-entered?
Depending on your customization. Normally it wont effect if you created the customzation application apart from SAP standard application
o What is the impact of having a single NWDI instance across the
Portal Landscape during the Patch process?
Any change that related to NWDI, you might be need to re-deployed from NWDI itself.
    Thanks

    1. Activatating the business content Object in BI7 for all BC extracotrs in ECC.
    2. If content is not suitable for the requirment then what is the time frame for creating the Customized BI objects and DS,ES and all in ECC.
I knew it the sam has been circulated to their personal e-mail ids earlier from this forum.

  • Effort estimation (Aufwandschu00E4tzung) for WDA

    Hi,
is there any best practice out there how we can calculate a effort estimation for a the development of a WDA application? Any Excel-Tool, anything?
I thought about calculating for every screen (if it contains for example 3 tabstrips i would calculate alltogeather 4 screens) and add some time for the component. But this is by far too vaguely, isn't it?
How do you do this usually?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Axel,
the time one needs for developing a Web Dynpro ABAP Application mainly depends on the answers to the following questions:
Are there good enough APIs that can be used for handling most of the business logic required?
How flexible should the application be? Do you need to generate the ui or is it sufficient to have fixed screens?
    Can components be used again?
--> Ask your developers, not excel

  • Effort estimation of developments

    Hi all,
Could anyone please provide me with some inputs or documents/ templates on Effort estimation of developments in ABAP??
I have done the initial analysis, but not sure what should be the base of measuring the complexity and time for an object?
How an object can be further divided and the total time be measured?
Also please let me know about the marginal timings and all...
    Thanks in advance,
    Anshumita

    Hi
First the know the complexity of the object.
Based on complexity only we can estimate the hours.
    Generally for
    simple - 5-6 days
    Medium : 8-9 days
    Complex : 15-18 days
This can vary from company to company.
    Guidelines for complexity :
Tables,Transactions involved that is the scracth development or any developed object there for reference like that.
    regards,
    kumar

  • Effort estimation for upgrading Sap Net weaver 7.0 to EHP2 SP6

    HI,
We have BI 7.0 on SAP Netweaver 7.0, we want to upgrade it ot EHP2 SP6.

please give me some bried idea about this acitivity.

    > 6. dowtime -. what system dos in this phase - 2. how much time system takes - 3. impact on server ( like availabel or not available). In general how much downtime system takes during this phase.

    > 8. Finalization -. what system dos in this phase - 2. how much time system takes - 3. impact on server ( like availabel or not available)
Nobody can tell you any time values. This depends on the used hardware, the speed of the underlying I/O subsystem, the number of processes you use, the speed of the server, number of languages etc. etc.
1 - 5 is done online, nobody will notice because all the work is done in a shadow instance .Downtime says it all and 7 and 8 are postprocessing work.
To try that do a copy of the production to a sandbox and play with the values and see yourself how much time you need.

  • Upgrade Effort Estimation

    Dear All,
For system that is termed complex (e.g. Interface =400, Language=10 ,Custom Object = 20,000, Unicode Conversion - 15,000, DB = 4TB etc) is there a best practice/thumb rule published as to how efforts required for SPDD/SPAU can be estimated ?.
    Regards,
    Neeth

    Hi Neeth,
Yes!! there is best practice for effort estimation. Before that FYI, SPDD/SPAU means stanadard objects adjustments not custom objects.
Iff you want the estimation for SPDD/SPAU first count the Standard repository(SPAU),datadictionary objects(SPDD), for this
1.Run SPDD tcode in your system which ur going to upgrade, it will give the objects, save those objects into excel document, count the objects
2.In the similar way run SPAU tcode, get the object count.
Here in both spdd/spau there will be subcategories,
    for SPDD:
    With Modification Assistant
    Without Modification Assistant
    Deleted Objects
    for SPAU:
    Note Corrections
    With Modification Assistant
    Without Modification Assistant
    Translations
    Reset Objects
    Deleted Objects
In the both of the above categories no need to take care about
    a.Deleted objects
    b.Reset objects
Finish the above task, then let me know the object count and given mandays to finish this, then i will assist you accordingly.

  • EP effort estimation

    Hi,
Do SAP provide any guidelines or thumbrules for the effort estimation of EP development, implementation etc.
Please let me know the details
    regards,
    Sujesh

    HI,
Providing Effort estimation in EP is highly vague as it purely depends on the kind of development and implementation to be done. You can be more specific in the areas you would like to get info about such as development using webdynpro etc.
Also the architecture and process work flow play decisive roles in estimation.
As of now <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/4c2b16e2-0a01-0010-0eab-9a90926d5947">here</a> is an estimation for a migration project.
Additional <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/2eb43136-0301-0010-9b96-b00377384497">info</a>  on the same project.

  • SSM Effort Estimation

    Hi All,
Can you please share the components/objects that should be considered while doing Effort Estimation for SSM projects.
For Eg :- No. of KPI.
    Regards,
    Niksha

    Niksha,
You have to start with defining the initial deliverables, both on the business side (how many scorecards, KPIs, and how many areas will be involved with the initial rollout) and the technical side ( how many models, what other data systems need to be connected for initial data).
I agree with the other responses above, they offer good guidance and things to consider. The amount of effort that it takes is very dependent upon the initial deliverables and the scope of the project. Strategy Management works best with an incremential implementation that allows for a quick start and then to build on the progress you've made, and build out by including more departments/LOB/regions/etc.
On the business side, as pointed out in a previous response, the organization needs to have defined goals and objectives - the strategy drives the measurements, On the technical side, there is the design of the dimensional models and the connections to other systems or databases to bring in the data.
By setting an incremential approach and phased roll-out, you get the best results for your efforts.
    Regards,
    Bob

  • Effort estimation models

Does anyone use any new good effort estimation models for DI? I have a couple manual stuff ... what does everyone else use..
    thanks

Not getting your point. Is the question how long it usually takes to build a dataflow? I personally divide the target tables in three categories:
    simple....1 day
    complex...3 days
    fact table...5 days
Obviously development could be done within minutes, but the refinements, documentation, delta logic, testing,.... takes its time.
