P2V Server using Bootable media

I have a server that cannot boot fully into Windows. I want to boot off a CD and create a VHD of the server on a USB drive or network drive. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction of how I can do this quickly and easily.
Vincent Sprague

Hi Vincent Sprague.
I agree with UdoWalberer, cloning or duplicating an installation without taking the recommended steps could lead to duplicate SIDs. For removable media, a duplicate SID might
give an account access to files even though NTFS permissions for the account specifically deny access to those files. Because the SID identifies both the computer or domain and the user, unique SIDs are necessary to maintain support for current and future
programs.
When you want to move a physical server system to Hyper-V environment you can use P2V method.
You can refer the following article to realize how to use P2V solution

  • How to use bootable media for Miix 3 1030?

    Hi folks, I think I've made a grave mistake.  In order to free up precious disk space, I wiped the hidden Windows 8.1 recovery partition on my Miix 3 1030 with AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro 5.5. OR at least I attempted to - halfway through, it crashed (smooth non-BSOD-ish error screen by the way). Now it doesn't boot. (but mooooooom...I just tried to delete that darn recovery partition...) - error code 0xc0000225. Same error message when I try to use the Windows Boot Manager or the System Recovery from the BIOS. It says that I should press the Windows key for accessing the UEFI firmware settings. That doesn't work. Anyway, is there even a way to use a recovery medium with the Miix 3 1030? Given that there's just a microUSB slot, would it be possible with an OTG cable? Or ist it possible with an SD card (would seem weird to me, but what the hell...)? If so, do I have to use WinPE, similar to what is stated here? -> https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-based-Tablets-Knowledge/Miix-10-Unable-to-boot-from-USB-stick/ta-p/1460131 ... Something else? Thank you very much in advance, hoping that I didn't **bleep** my 1030 up royally. p

    hi, not bricked my tablet, but yeah, can't boot off usb devices is pretty bad for a modern device. i contacted support asking nicely for a bios update that enables usb booting.. i don't like uefi...legacy booting ftw. i hope they respond as i like the tablet, but no usb booting means limited usefulness.

  • Bootable Media Malware Removal Tools, Preferable?

    Quite often a system can be rendered useless by malware, a recent example of this in Germany being the Bundeskriminalamt virus.
    Those who were unlucky enough to get hit were informed that their computer had been traced as being used for illegal purposes and they should transfer €100 to pay the fine and the message would go away and they would be able to resume to normal usage of their computer. This was of course not the case and the system remained unusable as it is not possible to close the window and it always remains on "top".
    In such situations I often turn to bootable malware removal tools offered by most of the anti-malware companies and find them to be very effective removing malware and bringing a system back to a state in which further diagnosis / repairs can be carried out.
    If I suspect a system to be infected, which may also boot normally, is a bootable media scan preferable to a scan carried out from within the OS?  Are there any drawbacks / disadvantages in using such tools?

    Hi,
    IMHO, whatever works, use it, as long as you completely understand how the tools work, their limitations, what they can do to the infested system and can provide clear instructions for the tool's use.  I regularly use installed tools, tools which do not require installation, online scans, bootable media tools and Linux Live distros.  I generally work with the easiest first, and then go to more powerful methods as needed.  The more complex the method used, the more difficult it is for the owner of the infected system, and the greater the likelihood that a mistake may be made.  So, care is needed as well as being very aware of the technical capability of the victim.
    It is worth mentioning that most of the bootable media tools are Linux based due to copyright restrictions that could easily arise from using bootable media based on Windows.  There are such tools, but they are always AFAIK paid tools, where part of the cost pays a license fee to Microsoft for using their copyright files for the bootable media.

  • Help me step by step for using Flash Media Server!

    Dear all!
    With reference to advertisement/introduction of in website (http://www.adobe.com/ ), I am writing to you to request some things bellows:
    My company would like build video streaming application on Website (and mobile in future), maybe something likes http://youtube.com . It is streaming: films, video clips with the different sizes which are stored in folder of server with high quality, powerful, secure, extendable, high-performance, highly scalable, and custom video solutions. After I went through the Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 of Adobe I see that it seem usefully with the streaming video application of my company. So that, before my company purchases the Flash Media Interactive 3.5 software we would like use trial the Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 software with full features, unlimited the end users, and full functions in few months. And  we hope you provide full Flash Media Interactive 3.5 software and guide clearly, more details and more focus for “how to use the Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 for matching with our application” during use trial. If we see this software which displays well the streaming video application and it matches with our application so that we will purchase this software immediately.
    Addition, did we have the encoder (video, film) software when we purchase full Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5? Because, I know that adobe media encoder CS4 supports for encoding video/film to FLV/F4V, but it is different software and do not package with Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 software. And do you have software to encode automatically video/film like flash media live encoder? Because I think that there are some troubles to use adobe media encoder CS4 for encoding video/film such as: sequential, so slow, non-auto encoding and occupies 100% CPU performance.
    Finally, adobe flash player 10 in Flash Media Interactive 3.5 has HD (+,-) feature. But I do not know to use it? Could you tell us more?
    Please give me your hotmail for chatting and reply us early!
    Thank for your prompt help!
    Sincerely,
    Thao Nguyen Thi,

    Hi Thao Nguyen Thi,
    You could download the Flash Media Development Server for free which provides the complete feature set. The only limitation is on the number of connects (allows only 10). But you could use that to try out a scaled down deployment which might give you an idea on what factors to consider while scaling up while allowing you to try out the streaming aspects.
    There is also this helpful document http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/fmis_largescale_deploy.html which gives a lot of useful information while going about the deployment.
    From what you say you seem to be interested to know the deployment of Video on Demand (VOD) streams.
    Thanks

    Hi. It looks like your code is not finding the mp3. At least,
    I can reproduce your error code by removing the mp3 from the
    directory, or renaming it.
    Btw, if you test with FF instead of IE, you'd see the error:
    Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2032:
    Stream Error.
    at KZFlash_fla::Sound_2/KZFlash_fla::frame1()
    Hope that helps.

  • How to use flash media server with cisco show n share live event module?

    hello all
    Is it  possible to use flash media server in show n share (non dme)live event ?  i 've configured flash media server, can receive  multicast streams, bu i have no idea what to write in video url fild in the live event basic setup.

    Hi Temur,
    You should be able to stream from a Flash Media Server.
    The URL should look like this:
    rtmp://xxx.yyy.com//flv:
    You can do some tests from a PC to get the exact URL that would suit your environment.

  • Streaming Live Video using Flash Media Encoder/Flash Media Streaming Server

    We currently get a video feed from local cable channel that gets streamed live to our internet website. It gets encoded first on our Windows 2003 server running Windows Media Encoder and then gets published on another Windows 2003 server running Windows Media Services. We are trying to replace these two servers with another solution and the two things driving this project are:
    1. These two servers are coming to an end of life cycle so we need to replace the hardware and upgrade the OS.
    2. They currently only support Windows compatible file formats. Just like other organizations out there, iPAD users are popping up and they want to view these video streaming from their iPAD.
    That's why we are looking at Adobe Flash Media Encoder3 and Flash Media Streaming Server 4.5. My questions for the experts out there are:
    1. Can Adobe Flash Media Encoder and Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server can replace our current solution?
    2. Do we need both Flash Media Encoder and Flash Media Streaming Server or can Flash Media Streaming Server also can encode video feed?
    3. Can Flash Media Encoder and Flash Media Streaming Server can run on the same server?
    4. Our Windows Media Services server also has few on-demand publishing points along with a live video streaming. Can above mentioned Adobe products support having live streaming publishing point along with on-demand video publishing points?
    5. Does Adobe Flash Media Encoder only support Flash and Quicktime or does it also support .wmv?
    I called the sales to find the answers to these questions but he basically read the features listed on the Adobe product website and couldn't really answer these questions.
    Any help in find the answers to these questions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks you.

    FYI - I was able to do it by using the "onFI" handler of the embedded NetStream object.
    myVideo.addEventListener(fl.video.VideoEvent.STATE_CHANGE, onVideoStateChange);
    function onVideoStateChange(evt:fl.video.VideoEvent)
      // trace("State = " + evt.state);
      if ( evt.state == "playing" )
      if (!ns)
      ns = myVideo.getVideoPlayer(evt.vp).netStream;
      ns.client.onFI = onFIHandler;
    function onFIHandler(infoObj:Object):void
      var ts:String = infoObj.st;
      trace("system time: " + ts);
      ExternalInterface.call("updateTimeStamp", ts);

  • Timecode/TimeStamp in RTMP live streaming using Adobe Media Server and FMLE

    HI There,
    Am trying to stream a video on to Adobe media server(using RTMP) through FMLE and play it on my web site using JWPlayer. i could stream the video successfully, but know i want to get the timestamp/timecode on the stream. does Adobe media server and FMLE support this kind of use-case ? if not is there any other way to achieve the same. any comments/suggestion/pointers appreciated .
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Deepak

    If you're talking about nonstop, continuous streaming, your subscribing client will need to close and reconnect the stream every couple of days, as the server will run out of timestamps for the stream.

  • Streaming interactive swf files using Adobe Media server

    Hi!,
    I have some swf files which are interactive. Is it possible to stream them using adobe media server via http or rtmp? Will the resulting stream be interactive? I have to play this streams on android devices. If not possible, is there any other way?
    I'm using 5.0.3 version of Media server. Our Android devices are Jellybean and ICS.

    This kind of question really has a much better chance to get a good answer if asked in the product-specific forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_media_server

  • Record every received Stream using Adobe Media Server

    We have a platform implementing CometChat product, this producto has Audio Video Chat, using RTMP stream, we rent Influxis.com service because they offered to record each streaming from CometChat AVChat, we want to know if its possible to achieve this using Adobe Media Server, because CometChat request a lot of money to record them, so, we need to know if this is possible just buying the Adobe Media Server, because we have our own Virtual Server, so we can Install it there and use it, but we want to know if there is something that need tos do CometChat, because that things will cost a lot for us.
    Please, any help would be great, its really Urgent, our site its in use now, and we need to record every stream because our site manages children interactivity, so, because of security this its really urgent.

  • How to create playlist on amazon using adobe media server

    Hello All ,
    I have created ec2 instance on Amazon  and  completed the On-demand streaming with Flash Media Playback and configure fms and now  I am  able to play my video by using my public DNS . Now I want to login using Flash Media Server Administration Console. I have set username and password in fms.ini file but until I not able to login.
    please help me

    No sample is required ..... the data fiel is created automatically for you and is based on the structure of the design (if none is implied with a data connection). To get the data out of the form you can use a button that has this code on the click event:
    xfa.host.exportData();
    When th euser clicks the button a dialog will appear allowing th euser to select a location for the file. Note that it will save it as an XDP (XML Data Package) file, but it is simply XML. There are a number of parameters that you can pass to the command that will allow you to save as XML directly. You can look that up in the Help files.

  • Issue with Client Authenication Certificates within Bootable Media

    Hi All,
    I am in the process of deploying SCCM 2012 R2 in our environment parallel to our existing SCCM 2007 R3 environment. So far everything is working well. I have hit, however my first issue. This seems to be related to Client Authentication certificate validation.
    The problem occurs when booting from SCCM 2012 Task Sequence Bootable media and attempting to contact a local Management Point. I am using a USB Boot key at this point as I do not want to overlap with our existing PXE environment.
    The SMSTS.LOG shows the error 0x80072f8f. Specifically the error that I need to get past is:
    [TSMESSAGING] AsyncCallback(): WINHTTP_CALLBACK_STATUS_SECURE_FAILURE Encountered TSMBootstrap 19/12/14 11:27:22 AM 1164 (0x048C)

    I have followed all of the recommended steps that I can think of so far. I have:
    Ensured that the Server Authentication and client authentication certificate on all Site systems is correct (I.e. all certificates are based on Certificate Templates as per the TechNet documentation)
    Ensured the Root and Issuing CA's are registered within the SCCM 2012 Site
    The Distribution Point role and Bootable Media are using a dedicated Client Authentication certificate that has been imported via a .PFX
    Ensured this certificate is in a "Not blocked" state
    Ensured the Date and Time of each Site System and of WinPE during the boot process is in sync.
    Checked the MPControl.LOG on each of our 2 Management Points looking for errors. These logs are all clear.
    Checked the IIS Web Logs on the Management Points. These logs are also all clear.
    The SMSTS.LOG is successfully importing the Root CA certificates ....
    Root CA Public Certs=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX TSMBootstrap 19/12/14 11:27:22 AM 1164 (0x048C)Importing certificates to root store TSMBootstrap 19/12/14 11:27:22 AM 1164 (0x048C)

    Added certificate to store or replaced matching certificate in store. TSMBootstrap 19/12/14 11:27:22 AM 1164 (0x048C)
    I have noticed that there are plenty of issues related to an invalid CA due to root CA import issues or CRL checking. We currently have CRL checking disabled and based on the "INVALID_CN" reference I don't believe CRL check is part of the equation.
    With regards to the Common Name I can confirm the following:
    The "ConfigMgr Client Certificate" Template used to auto enroll all domain joined systems is based upon the "Workstation Authentication" template. The Subject Field is set, as by default to "None". The SAN is set to DNS name.
    The "ConfigMgr OSD Certificate" Template used to create the client authentication certificate used on the DPs and Bootable Media is set to "Supplied at Request". I set a CN of "Configmgr OSD Certificate" for this certificate.
    I have tried using another client authentication certificate for the DPs and Bootable media that had no Subject Name defined.
    Can offer any suggestions as to where I might be going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Nathan Sutton

  • Need Help to locate a file on a FTP server using MediaLocator class

    Hi Friends,
    This is Venkat. Iam currently working on a Multimedia J2EE web project. Iam working on a requirement to
    show Thumbnail view for uploaded media. For this i have downloaded a standalone code from the following site.
    http://www.exactfutures.com/index02.htm.
    This code converts frames of a media files to jpg images which i can use them to show as Thumbnails.
    The code takes file name which is present in project folder as parameter. But in my web project iam using a FTP server to store my media files.
    The above code uses Java Media Framework along with another API Fobs4JMF. The media file name is passed to MediaLocator class constructor which is located in the project folder. Iam talking about a standalone application here.
    But my project is a J2EE web application.
    Now my problem is that, how can i refer a file which is located on a external FTP server and pass it to MediaLocator or some other class.
    Say the ftp file URL is mms://wm.testuser.net/12365741/testvideo.wmv
    Guys hope you are clear abt my problem. Please help me ASAP.
    Below is the part of code
         * Constructor
         public vid2jpg(String path) {
              MediaLocator ml;
              String args = path;
              if ((ml = new MediaLocator(args)) == null) {
                   System.out.println("Cannot build media locator from: " + args);
              if (!open(ml)) {
                   System.out.println("Failed to open media source");
         * Given a MediaLocator, create a processor and start
         private boolean open(MediaLocator ml) {
              System.out.println("Create processor for: " + ml);
              try {
                   p = Manager.createProcessor(ml);
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   System.out.println("Failed to create a processor from the given media source: " + e);
                   return false;
              p.addControllerListener(this);
              // Put the Processor into configured state.
              p.configure();
              if (!waitForState(p.Configured)) {
                   System.out.println("Failed to configure the processor.");
                   return false;
              // Get the raw output from the Processor.
              p.setContentDescriptor(new ContentDescriptor(ContentDescriptor.RAW));
    Thanks in Advance for your time.

    Hi Mani,
    Below is code that ran successfully on a cRIO-9002.  It looks much the same as yours, please double-check the formatting of your string controls.  If things still do not work, let's look at the cRIO more closely.

    Thanks Janaki but how can I add a new application? I tried to do it using Flash Media Administration Console but it doesn't work
    Hi Salma,
    To add an application to FMS follow the below steps
    1. Create a folder "my_app" under "$InstallRoot\applications" directory.
    2. For simple server side code... add "main.asc" file inside "$InstallRoot\applications\my_app" directory which has the content like
    application.onConnect = function(clientObj){
         trace('onConnect function");
         return true;
    3. To add streams to the application, creates 'streams' folder inside "$InstallRoot\applications\my_app" directory, within that create '_definst_' folder and then place your FMS supported streams within the directory. So your streams for the 'my_app' application will be at "$InstallRoot\applications\my_app\streams\_definst_\mystream.flv".
    You can connect to this application using the url "rtmp://your_server_name/my_app". To play the stream mystream.flv using video player, use the url "rtmp://your_server_name/my_app/mystream.flv".

  • SQL server 2008 Installation media

    HI all,
    I am trying to install SQL server 2008 express, and in the "SQL Server Installation Center" i select "New SQL Server stand-alone installation or Add features to an existing installation" After selecting that option a window pops up and prompt me to "Browse for SQL Server 2008 Installation Media"
    Now, what exactly is "SQL Server 2008 Installation Media"? how am i suppose to locate/browse the installation media on my computer?
    i am totally new to SQL server and i am self-learning it from a book, the problem is that the book does not explain where to browse for instillation media!
    my system info:
    Windows 7 Home premium
    64-bit OS
    AMD 2.60 GHz
    6.00 GB RAM

    This is a solution for Windows 7 users who used the Web Platform Installer (I'm going to call it WPI).
    1 - Make sure you have power shell installed.
    2 - Install the sql 2008 SP1.  google it and download it.
    Now comes the detailed part...
    You have to get a hold of the installation files without using WPI.   The WPI stores the installer executable on your computer and you have to run it and then get a hold of the directory it extracts before it deletes it.    You need to locate the WPI installation file and then run it manually.  Mine was located at...
    C:\Users\**username**\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer\installers\SQLExpressAdv\12A6B9C2237817DEEEB3DCE22AFFA25B6794850C
    Of course you substitute your own username.   You may need to reveal hidden folders.   If you can't find it try running a search for the SQLExpressAdv folder.
    In that folder you will find a file named "SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe" or something close to it. Run it and either on the first or second step you will see it extract a bunch of files.   Don't go any further after it runs that extraction.   Go to that folder and copy all the contents it extracted to a new folder and whamo.   That's where you will point your sql browse box to.
    Now you can uninstall, set up servers,  whatever it is you were trying to do.
