P35 Neo FR wont boot with 1066 Ram

Hi Guys,
I have a problem with a new build.  The specs are
P35 Neo FR
E8400 (not overclocked)
2 gb Crucial Balistax tracer 1066 Ram
XFX 7900GS card
450W PSU
It will boot and I have been into windows to which all seems fine, however I have an issue.
1. The BIOS and CPU-Z are showing my ram at 667.  I have manually adjusted it to 5-5-5-15 and set the divider so it should be running 1066.  However it wont boot and goes into the re-boot over and over and over and over and over again "mode".  This can only be rectified by re-setting the CMOS and then it will boot with its origional 4-4-4-24 timing @ 667.  I have checked the voltages and they make no difference.  It will only boot when the LED's on both ram sticks are lighting up on first power up.  Ram has been tested in another PC and doesnt seem an issue.
Bios is 1.5 I think.  Should I flash and go to 1.8?
I will also try the Mobo, PSU, HD and GPU without anything else attatched to see if there is a problem
Also, 1 stick of ram at a time to see if thats causing an issue.
I would appreciate any suggestions
Thanks

Which FSB/Memory Ratio did you choose in BIOS?
Does it work, if you choose the divider for DDR2-800 MHz?
What is the memory voltage recommended for these modules @1066 MHz effective speed?
Did you try with one stick of RAM only?
Thanks for the quick reply
I think the divider was 1.1-6?  I will confirm in a couple of hours once I am home. It works at 1-1 but the speed was 400mhz.  It also ran at 667. Whatever that divider was.
I am going to try the one memory module test tonight and I will also report on that and the DDR800 settings.
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/partspecs.aspx?IMODULE=BL2KIT12864AL1065  Is my ram and its rated at 2.2V
Thanks in advance and I will update in the next few hours.

  • P35 Neo-FI memory problem with 4 ram sticks

    Hi,
I have a problem to get my 4 ram sticks to work. a1 and a2 works but soon as i put another ram in to motherboard example to b1 or b2 it wont post anything on the screen. I know that my 4 rams works ok and i dont have any problem with them. I have also tryied to turn up the dimm voltage but with out luck. Please help me!
    CPU = Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (bios 1.3)
    Motherboard = MSI P35 NEO-FI, P35, Socket-775, DDR2,
    Memory= 4 * Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 2048MB, 256Meg x 64, CL5, 667MHz, 240-pin
    Grafic card = Gainward GeForce 8400GS 256MB DDR2, PCI-Express, DVI/Tv-Out, SilentFX

I'm not sure if the board can directly support 8GB instantly, which may also explain that it can run 4GB without a hitch.

  • Ms-7360 P35 Neo wo't boot with full 8GB DDR2

Let's begin with me stating my problem:
    I recently bought these ddr2 modules: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_vista_performance_gold_4gb_dual_channel (2x2GB OCZ Gold PC2-6400)
    I already had 2x2gb Patriot ddr2 (http://www.patriotmemory.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=5&catid=2&prodgroupid=38&id=658&type=1) installed on my mainboard (ms-7360 P35 Neo).
Now i can't boot Windows 7 64-bit with the full 8GB memory, it gives a blue screen or just keeps looping the boot sequence. If i use 6 GB my rig works, but is still a bit unstable.
I have tried placing the new memory modules in another rig and they work. I also tried swapping the modules:
    A1 + B1: Patriot memory
    A2 + B2: OCZ memory         ---> doesn't work, turn out in a blue screen
    A1 + B1: OCZ memory
A2 + B2: Patriot memory  --> this doesn't work, because i it has something to do with BIOS remembering previous setup.
    A1 + B1: Patriot Memory
A2: OCZ memory module 1 --> works, but when i was loading files to a separate hdd i got the blue screen.
    A1 + B1: Patriot Memory
A2: OCZ memory module 2 --> works too, but like above it's only 6GB and i want the full 8GB.
    A1 + B1: Patriot Memory
    B2: OCZ memory module 1 --> works
    A1 + B1:Patriot Memory
    B2: OCZ memory module 2 --> works
Oh, i almost forgot to say this: During the boot i also see that, when all 4 slots are full, i see 8GB
Now if anyone can help me get the full 8GB working, I'd be a very happy person

Get all 4 matching modules. It works when you have 3 of them installed because they would be in single channel mode and single channel can tolerate miss-matched RAM much better than dual channel can. 2.2V Patriot 4-4-4-12, 1.8V OCZ    CL 5-5-5-18

  • Any one ever posted on p35 platinum bios 1.3 with 1066 ram?

just wondering cause im outta options here.

i'm was testing P35 Neo2-FIR (nearly like Platinum) with 1066 memory (A-DATA, Kingston etc.) and it was w/o problems
well relatively because i needed to setup manually CAS etc. values (SPD autodetect seems to always set wrong CAS (6) etc))
with 1.4 it seems be bit better in autodetect area too

  • More detail and a reply for the CQ50 - 130US will not boot with 8gb ram post

The specs, on the web site say that the  max memory supported is 3GB DDR2 because the notebook was built with the OS Vista(32 bit) installed so that’s why the manual has the 3 GB max. memory supported limit. The 32 bit OS can’t address memory over 3.12 GB.   To my mind that is not a spec. but rather a tech. writer who made a mistake and copied the sales literature.  With Windows 7(64 bit) Pro. installed the OS can address up to192GB of memory if the system supports it.  Other Compaq and HP Notebooks can deal with 8GB of memory installed. That’s why I would think HP’s could easily fix this with a patch or use one of their other BIOS’s.
The difference between 4GB and 6GB is that with 6GB system runs faster and the display quality has improved.  I have set the cache size to large and the executive paging is set to off in the registry. The menu(System Properties - Performance Options – Advanced – Virtual Memory) is set to automatically manage the paging file size.

You should keep it in the original; thread you started.

    Please advise...

Ensure the computer's RAM is fully seated down, and then try resetting the PRAM by holding down options-command-P-R at boot. The computer will make the boot chimes and then reset and chime again. When it chimes the second time release the keys and let the thing boot normally. Hopefully that will let it recognize the RAM.

  • Comp wont boot with ram in any slots besides 1&3 no matter what, faulty board?

Ok i've tried pretty much everything, got latest bios, changed timings to everything but the comp just wont boot if I have any ram in slots 2&4. Actually got the comp to boot up with ram in slots 1&2 once, but tried with all 4 slots filled and didn't work, and after that slot 2 didn't work again.
Could it be a faulty board? I know it's not the ram.

Ahh, turns out you were right tiresmoke.
Even though I thought I had 4 sticks that were exactly the same..one wasn't. 3 of them are xms32004.1 0427033 - 0...the one i've always had in my comp is 5.1 0430069 - 1. Put in 2 of the 4.1 and was able to run dual channel np. That explains why one time I was able to run dual channel then switch the ram and couldn't..had no idea there was minor differences..and have no idea why I got 3 of one kind and 1 of another when I orderd the 4 sticks.
Going to try and exchange the 4 sticks for 2 1 gig sticks..how good is neweggs return policy heh? Been like nearly 2 months..

  • MSI p67a-gd53 (b3) Wont boot with ram in slot 1 and 3, or 2 and 4.

Hi i recently built my own system, with just one ram stick in it boots fine and everything.
When i try to put the other stick in slot for so that in runs dual channel it just wont boot, it turns on starts the fans up and then just goes off, and repeats this.
The ram i have is Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit.
It also doesnt work in slots 2 and 4, can anyone help me :(?
    My setup is :

MSI ATI Radeon HD 6870 OC HAWK 1024MB
    Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 4GB
    Seagate Barracuda 500gb HD
Gets no beeps on boot with just one stick in, im really confused :s
    All Help will be appreciated.

Both ram sticks worked in slot one and it would boot but I tried running a game and it froze each occasion, cud this be due to the ram being dual channel and only having one in? Or that the ram has the wrong settings.
I have returned the motherboard along with the ram to the shop i got it from for tests to see if the dimm slots had problems. Il let you guys know what they say.
Thanks for the advice, when I get it back il build it again and see if it runs fine, if not il try the things youve said.
Can anyone else shed any light on this? Any other things I may have to try?
    Thx again

Hi, i just bought new motherboard for my system (msi p35 neo combo) and it wont post or beep at all, all the fans start but the screen wont wake up(aka black screen). All the components works just fine on my old asrock 775-dualvsta. So far i've tried to boot up with&without any ram, graphics card, hard-disks, checked all cables X times, re-seated cpu cooler, cleared cmos, etc. No go! :( Any advices?
I bet it's DOA but i want to be sure before RMA, long process... >:(

Have you checked if all power connectors for board and video card are properly connected?
    Board:
    - 20/24-Pin ATX
    - 4-Pin +12V CPU (connector cables should be black/yellow, otherwise it is additional 4-Pin plug for the 20+4 ATX connector above)
    Video Card:
    - 6-Pin +12V PCIe

Take the board out of the case and test it on a non-conducting surface in barebone confuguration (just CPU, video card, one stick of RAM, power connectors, keyboard).  Clear CMOS with main A/C power connector removed from PSU after hardware changes.  See if that changes anything.

  • P35 Neo does not boot

    Hi,
    I have just bought a P35 neo F and a Code 2 Duo E6550 processor.
When I switch the power on, the cpu fan starts and stop and then start again which looks OK for this motherboard - My problem is that the system does not boot after this - I have tried different combinations (with or without memory, with or without hard drive, with or without graphic card, I have tried 2 different graphic cards, 2 different power supply... no result - Could someone help me ?

I've tried a Kingston PC2 6400 CL5 - the system still do not boot up - I can see the keybord blinking at the beginning of the boot process but the screen noes not receive any signal - I get a bip after about 20 sec and another one again after 20 sec.
The processor or the mother board must be faulty...but how to know which  ?
    MSI P35 Neo2-FIR (bios v1.5)
    Intel E2180
    Tuniq Tower 120
    2 x 1GB Ballistix PC2-8500
    XFX GeForce 8600GT
    Maxtor 80GB
    Seagate 250 GB
    Advance 550 watt PSU
I just finished building this rig, and had exactly the same "no boot" issue using Ballistix RAM. The board powered up, then it did the auto shutdown thing which is normal, and then it started up for real, the diagnostic LEDs on the mobo light up, the CPU fan spins, I get a single beep but then just a blank screen, no POST screen, can't enter the BIOS
I tried a minimal build outside the case using just the graphics card, monitor, keyboard, and a single stick of Ballistix RAM in four different slots, re-setting the CMOS at each attempt, But still no POST
I was advised the Ballistix may be the problem as they're rated at 2.2v and the MSI board sets 1.8v until you change the voltages in BIOS, so I ordered 2 sticks Kingston Value RAM  667MHz rated at 1.8v, Inserted a single stick then powered up, but still no POST, Inserted the second stick and the board fired up!  I needed both sticks inserted to boot,  glad I ordered 2 sticks of Kingston instead of one, I'm keeping them as a backup if the Ballistix fail. Inserted the Ballistix and they're running fine @ 1160 MHz  CAS 5: 5: 5: 15: 2T  2.3v

  • P35 Neo: Freezes on Boot Screen HELP!

    Hi, I need help.
I took some of my old parts and bought some new ones to make a cheap computer for my dad.
The mobo I used, used to be in my old pc, and ran great with an intel e8400 in it.
    I put together today:
    P35 Neo
    Intel e3400
    Corsair XMS2 2GB ( 2 X 1GB )
    Zotac 8400GS
    420 Watt psu
I put everything together, tried both mem sticks, 1 at a time each slot, same outcome.
It boots to the sceen asking to press del or tab, and then freezes. The cpu fan slows down a bit, when it freezes.
The BIOS chip thinggy says something like a7360 ms 160, but i dont think the bios matters because i used to run a e8400 on this exact motherboard
    PLEASE HELP THANKS A LOT!

Celeron E3400 is not in the supported CPU list for P35 Neo (G33 Neo) with 1.x BIOS. G33 is the correct CPU list for your P35 MB with 1.x BIOS.

You will barely, barely get by with a very good 300W PSU, but that needs to be very good. Any hardware changes or addings will render your system unusable. I would recommend you a Zalman unit of about 400 - 500 watts. ~80 - 100 $. So you can "develop" the system.
But your system seems to pass POST.  Can you disconnect the hard disk, possible opticals (CD/DVD) and if you have any USB things, and try again, please. Make sure you got the required power cables connected!
Nanya memory is new to me. It wouldn't be a Dell special (memory)?
thanks for the reply im currently using a dell system but my new builds motherboard just wont boot at all thats the main problem the psus seem to boot other systems so im unsure to whether the board is healthy or not since i cant connect the cases original audio plug to this mobo :( its unable to give me beep commands and the green light as ive read else where often means something bad but the condition dosent seem to change even when i change out parts
and the psu is a 12v

  • Macbook wont boot after updating ram

    Please help,
I have a white macbook mid 2010 model.  Today I attempted to upgrade the RAM in my machine but to no avail.  The ram I purchased was 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) - DDR3 SDRAM - 1333 MHz DDR3-1333/PC3-10666 - Non-ECC - Unbuffered - 204-pin SoDIMM PNY 4GB DDR3 SDRAM. I already tried to upgrade a few years ago so I had 3gb or RAM in my machine.  I wanted to buy a 4gb stick and use it along side the 2gb stick that I have in now.  When I put both sticks in my computer just beeps and wont boot.  It will however boot, if i put either stick in alongside one of the original sticks that my machine came with, which would either give me 5gb or 3gb.  I have seen people with similiar issues and the answers given was bad ram or bad memory slots.  If the memory or the slot was bad, it would work at all no matter what combination you used so that really dosen't make any sense to me.  If someone could help me, I would appreciate it.

If you bought your RAM at a place that also sells PC RAM you may have gotten mislabelled RAM. PCs can handle different RAM speeds so they’ll often label higher speed RAM as a lower speed rather than make two different speeds of RAM. But Macs are much more picky. They require a RAM stick to be exactly 1066mhz not 1333mhz. The way to tell is to put one of your old RAM sticks in and it will force the new RAM to run at the correct speed. Your MacBook requires 1066mhz RAM not 1333mhz.
These are good online stores for Mac compatible RAM
OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_Whi te - They offer Mac tested RAM at very good prices.
Crucial Memory http://www.crucial.com/ - good place to buy RAM from all over the world. They also have an excellent memory selector that allows you to choose memory based on your computer's model
Data Memory Systems http://www.datamemorysystems.com/apple-memory.asp - another good, cheap place to buying RAM if you live in the U.S.

  • Z77A-GD65 no longer boots with 4 RAM modules

I had 4 x 8GB Cosair Vengeance LP that used to work fine, but no longer boots into Windows with 4 but only with 2 RAM modules.  Any help in solving the issue would be appreciated. ( I need 32 GB as I run many virtual machines )
The 4 modules worked fine for few months until couple weeks ago,  when I saw issues with booting into Windows 7. The workaround was to "warm up" by leaving the PC in BIOS for about 5 minutes and it would boot fine.  Since couple days ago, it would POST but not boot into Windows or into live Linux on USB, so I started troubleshooting with bare bones first ( MB, CPU, 1 RAM, PS ) and then starting adding more and more components until I found that  1 and 2 RAM modules worked in either black or blue rail but with 4 RAM modules, it will POST, but not boot at all into either USB based live system or into Windows 7.
Memtest with 2 separate sets of modules pass with flying colors. Mixing the sets work fine too, but add 2nd set (i.e. 4 modules) and it fails to boot.  I am leaning more toward believing the issue is with the MB than with the RAM since mixing them doesn't throw any memory error.
Any suggestion on how to check if it's the RAM or MB ?

What voltage is the RAM running? A slight bump up in voltage might help.
As to voltage, I started with standard 1.5 and then incrementally upped it to 1.65v. At 1.6v and above, it does boot into Windows, but intermittently goes into BSOD... Works perfect with 1.5v with 2 RAM modules.
I'll save the money for next build instead of going for 32GB kit.  ... guess I'll live with 16GB for now.
Thank you all for the advice.
