P35 Neo2-fr cannot unable to show IDE Dvd-rw in XP

Hi guys, i have 2 SATA hdd, 1 Sata DVD-rw and 1 IDE dvd-rw drives.
With P35 NEo2-fr, everything is detected except the IDE dvd-rw drive. Both Master and Slave mode are tried, still it was of no use.
Help , thanks.

Jumper it as cable select.
Also ensure data{in properly direction} and power cable are connected.

Have P E 5. Wish to create and display slide shows on HDTV. Have created a show, but just learned that my version cannot burn the show to DVD. Am I missing something? Are there other options? Does the latest version 10 have this feature?

No version of PSE has this function, since Adobe wants you to buy Premiere Elements.
If you have a dvd burner you must have some kind of software you can use for this, even if it's only windows movie maker. You may also have gotten something like Roxio. Check to see what you have on your computer already. Then just output your slideshow as a wmv file and use whatever it is to create the video disc.
However, note that PSE does not create HD output.

P35 NEO2-FR startup problems, cannot get into BIOS

So i recently bought new parts for my computer:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz 1333Mhz
Motherboard: MSI P35 NEO2-FR
RAM: 2x Corsair TWIN2X 2048MB 6400 DDR2
PSU: Corsair Powersupply 550W (3.3v/30A, 5v/28A, 12V/41A)
Graphics Card: GeForce 7800 gtx (this part was not new, so i dont have any more details for it)
I start up my computer with only the CPU, graphics card and one RAM module installed, and a keyboard attached to the ps2 slot (using a converter) for simplicity. The problem is that the computer freezes up when the MSI screen comes up, and i cannot get into the BIOS. The LED lights on the motherboard is indicating the state "Testing base and extended memory". And b/c i go straight into the MSI start-up screen i am unable to find out what BIOS version i am running, though i am fairly sure (i have talked with another person that bought the same motherboard from the same shop as me at about the same time, and he is running BIOS v1.8) that it is 1.8 and it is therefore compitable with my cpu. I have also tried several different types of RAM with the same results. I am also very certain that i have all the cables plugged in correctly (have also tried resetting CMOS ALOT of times) but still the same result.
Does anyone have any clue what could be the problem ?

Have a look at the sticker on the BIOS Chip of the board to check the factory BIOS Version. The following picture shows the location of the chip on your board (it is actually a P35 Platinum, but it has the same PCB as the P35 Neo2-FR):

Accessing a second IDE HD on the P35 NEO2 FR

Soooo, I had some issues recently installing a quad core processor in my p35 NEO2 FR. I updated the BIOS to version 1.10, and things went to hell. Turns out it was not the BIOS flash, but something in the combination of a new processor and the BIOS flash that turned a windows xp install that was getting old sour. I got a new HD, installed windows xp pro on it and things are going swimmingly. The issue is that I'd like to get the data off of my hd with the borked windows install and am unable to boot, or get all the way past posting, with both drives hooked up. I damaged the sata data connector on the old drive while messing around in my case....that's why I want to get all the data off. It is, however, still fully functinal...I can get past post with the old disc, all the way to the point that windows BSOD's just before I get all the way into windows.
I tried setting my boot devices to only my dvd-r/rw drive and the new HD with a good windows install, and the same thing happens, lock before post completes.
Long story short:
Need data off old drive with effed up windows install
how can I get that data off when machine locks with both drives hooked up?

P35 Neo2-FIR boot problem (GRRR - no video)

Hi.
A have a problem with my Neo2-FIR. But first my system's specs:
MSI P35 Neo2-FIR (PCB 1.2, BIOS 1.9 or 1.A - the first one supporting my CPU. I don't remember and there's no video, so I can't check it)
Intel E8400 E0 stepping (SLB9J) cooled by Thermalright Ultima-90.
2x2GB DDR2 A-Data 800MHz 4-4-4-12 2T
PowerColor HD4850 PCS+ (512 MB)
Enermax Pro82+ 385 W (Click for more)
WD AACS 640 GB (irrelevant)
It has been working well since fall 2008. Suddenly, I turn on the PC to see "No input signal" on my monitor..
Diagnostic LEDs report GRRR (from top to bottom), which translates into "Initializing video interface. This will start detecting CPU clock , checking type of video onboard. Then detect and initialize the video adapter". No signals form the speaker.
The full sequence after an restart is GRRR (for a split second) -> RRGR (Mem. detection test) -> RRGG (Decompressing BIOS image to RAM) -> RGGR (Processor initialization) -> GRRR.
After hardware changes (like different RAM configuration - in this case detecting RAM), it can freeze on some other stage. But an restart helps, and clearing CMOS before start up prevents this. Normally it's the above sequence.
What I've tried:
- Tested all the voltages with an Voltmeter. They're fine. The PSU was always rock solid.
- Detached everything that's not crucial (HDD, DVD, fans etc)
- Checked all the connectors.
- Cleared the CMOS (with the button, by removing the battery etc.). It worked, because the dual boot issue was reintroduced.
- Booting with the video card in the second (yellow) PCI-e slot.
- Booting with an old, PCI videocard. (Same symptoms as with the new one). I've also tried booting without and video card - it was the same, but there was an beep from the speaker.
- Booting with one RAM stick, in various configurations.
- Reseating the CPU (it looks fine, so does the socket BTW).
- Reseating the motherboard in the case (to make sure there are no shorts). No shorts on Ultima's backplate.
- probably some other stuff that I don't remember
- (edit) various FSB jumper configurations.
Of course the video card was checked on an different PC and it works fine. I can't check the CPU, but it's rather unlikely that it is its fault.
What I haven't tried is an blind BIOS update. A bit risky. Is it worth trying?
Any ideas? I probably have to RMA the board, but maybe someone knows the answer or had an similar problem.
I've also had some problems with CRC errors with the HDD. Windows reported problems with writing on it (don't remember the error codes). It was moths ago and replacing the SATA connector and changing the port helped.
There were some (rare!) BSoDs, mostly caused by Realtek drivers. RAM was tested with Memtest86+, it was fine. Anyway nothing special and most probably nothing related to the current problem.

Thanks for your help.
They've actually sent me the P35 Platinum Combo mainboard. It the same as normal Platinum, but supports both DDR 2 and DDR3. I don't mind really, though I also don't need it It does have a slightly different PCB and a different BIOS (at least it has it's own number, everything else looks the same).
I have a problem though with the BIOS. It's impossible to set the proper CPU voltage. On Neo2-FIR the minimal voltage was equal to CPU VID (1.1 V). There were some problems with EIST (when it was enabled, the minimal voltage was higher - 1.25 V I think. I've just disabled it).
On this mainboard, with exactly the same CPU, I'm unable to set the voltage below 1.25 V and the CPU overheats It works, but gets really hot. EIST was disabled on default. Rather annoying, this is supposed to be a quite build, which won't be possible with an overvolted CPU
The BIOS is the newest version, but I'll double check.
I'll probably create a topic about this issue after some more research and testing (when I'll find time for it ). Though I'm afraid it's a bug that cannot be resolved. Apart from that everything looks fine.

P35 Neo2 - OS died, need help restoring RAID after re-install of XP

I have a P35 Neo2 with on-board Intel RAID. I need a bit of help getting a two drive RAID going again after reinstalling XP.
Here's my situation:
Same hardware, MB, etc. I originally set up the system with a 20gb IDE and two 320gb SATA drives. I put the OS on the 20gb, and set the two 320's up as a RAID. I partitioned the 320's into 200gb + 120gb sections on each drive. The 200gb partitions were mirrored between the two drives, and the remaining 120gb on each drive was used as non-RAID storage space.
I picked up a nasty virus-spyware a month or two ago that I was struggling to find a fix for when the OS began to BSOD. I put the 20gb IDE to the side, and put a 40gb IDE in it's place. I re-installed XP on it last night, and now need to get the RAID up and running again.
I went into Disk Management and it showed three dynamic drives with a yellow triangle icon and labeled 'foreign'. I right clicked and found an option to 'import'. I clicked on import and a window popped up showing all of the partitions and logical drives I had previously created on the two drive RAID. I figured I was in business, so I clicked OK.
Disk Management now shows one dynamic disk as 'Online', but still shows two as 'Foreign'. If I right click on them, and chose import, I get the same window showing my partitions and logical drives, but if I click OK, I get a warning message that: "Some of the volumes you are importing will lose data because you have not moved all of your disks to the system."
I'm in over my head at this point, so any help would be appreciated.

A 200gb partition is restored, but the 120gb is not, which is confusing. ALso, when I look at the logical drives in the partition, I'm beginning to think I had the 200gb mirror /120 gb storage backwards. The data restored is not something I would be concerned with losing. It's installed applications, and multimedia files that I could lose without worry.
There is also 70gb dynamic drive labeled Missing. I know I left a small portion of all three of the drives unallocated as a reserve, so that must be what this is. It's like the RAID info is incomplete which leads me to the next piece of info.
Something I didn't initially mention for the sake of brevity, was when I right-clicked on 'Import Disk' the applet noted the disk was 3/3. I assumed that meant disk 3 of 3 disks. I've since begun to wonder if I imported the disks in the wrong order. ie) I should have imported disk 1/3 first.
Do you know how to clear out Disk Mgt's info, so I can start over?
I also noticed only one of the 320 SATA's shows up in Device Mgr, (DM). What I found both confused me and encouraged me.
When I created the array, I named the the drives RAID0 and RAID1. They both show up in DM. But only one of them shows up as the drive model: WDC WD3201ABYS-01B9A0. There should be two of them.
The OS knows there should be a RAID, but for some reason only one of the drives show up as hardware. I rebooted and checked the data and power supply cables, (connected), the BIOS, (both drives show up) and both drives show up in Disk Mgt. Just not in DM.
Does that mean the HD has died?
Part of my difficulty is I had a brain injury in 2001, followed by another in 2003. The 2nd injury caused 6 months of what the docs call it a walking coma - I walked and talked, but have no memory of the time.
When I 'woke up' in the Fall of 2003, I found I had lost considerable cognitive function and other problems. These problem have ended up disabling me, (I'm now on SS Disability).
Until then I had been a 'System Admin' for micro-businesses, (max - 15 computers). I built systems and servers, installed networks, maintained them and did all the support. Basically I was these company's Sys Admin on an as-needed basis.
One thing I lost was the ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware. Combined with other cognitive problems, I was forced into closing my business. At the time, I was maintaining close to fifty offices; ~20 had Peer-to-Peer networks & ~20 had servers I had built.
What's doubly frustrating is I was just getting ready to sign up with an online backup service when I got hit with a nasty malware/virus that's so new there's no info on the 'net about it. I got entangled in trying to fix it and spaced out the online back up. Now I find myself in a situation where I desperately need to restore the data on these RAID drives. Because of the memory problems I now have, I completely depend on my computer as an auxiliary 'brain' - I have stuff on these drives that I have to have.
I didn't do much with RAID when I was still in the biz, and this is the first time I've had problems with a RAID of my own, so I'm struggling to figure this stuff out.
Should I be able to install one of these drives by itself so I can get the data from it? The way I understand the theory of RAID is that if one drive dies, you can put another in and the mirrored portion will re-create itself on the new drive. Couldn't that be a way to get the important data off the drive or drives if they don't want to go back together as a RAID?
I could back each up to the online service and then just rebuild them. Not my first choice, but it would reduce my stress level if I thought I could do it.
Sorry to go on, but now you can see why I'm both struggling & worried.

Bios Update Problem P35 Neo2 - MS 7345 V 1.1

I've update my board bios because a "hard disk not present" problem and since it I was having several problems:
I'm running Windows XP SP2 and it takes a very long time to start (in bar and loading windows screen).
The major problem I have is when power on the computer it is alwayls showing the red font message that says it was a problem overclocking, so everytime I need to go into setup and to save changes whitout changing anything.
I suspect the bios I've installed is not the right one since the start screen says "MSI Neo Patinum" instead Neo2, but I've used Live Update ... so it should be the rigth one.
Can anybody help me please with this?

I will tell you the story:
I bought the computer and I was using the Blue (Marvel) sata port for the hard disk.
Then a normal day I began to have a very low Windows start so I changed the sata plug to a purple one and the problem disappeared.
Then I began to have the same problem again so I changed the plug again but problem was there anyway so decide to update bios to 1.8 version.
The problem come back randomly and sometimes it disappeared just changing the sata port to wich the plug is connected to.
After that I began to have the "No hard disk present" error and I cleared the CMOS and tried several things until it come to work again.
Few time ago I noticed that was a newer bios version, so then I used Live Update to update bios and drivers again.
Now I'm having the "slow" problem again. I'have been trying several configurations and testing programs but I just didn't find anything wrong.

I'm having the first post problem (overcloking message after power on)
I also had a very rare issue few time ago when shutdown the pc: few minutes later it power on by It self !! until I have disabled every wake up event from setup.

Hard disk not detected p35 neo2 fr

hi i have a p35 neo2 fr (great mobo) and on the boot it says:
adapter 1:
no hard drives detected!
but i leave it and windows loads as normal.
could this be becuase of corrupted bios? if so will flashing fix this problem
the only downside is slow startup and shutdown times.
this problem occured wheni installed a sata dvd writer.
in bios it shows the dvd drive as port 1 and hdd's in 5,6
it also displays the dvd drive as being primary master and the hard drives being 3rd and 4th master.
i was thinking switching the sata ports may change it?
any help appreciatted.

Does this message appear to be a Marvell-Controller Status message? If yes, and there is no drive connected to the fifth SATA port or the IDE port, that message does not indicate a problem.

Need Help with ESATA on MSI P35 Neo2-FR

I have the MSI P35 Neo2-FR motherboard http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1261 and trying to get the eternal ESATA to work. It works with one individual HD. I'm using an external ESATA drive with 3 HD inside the external case with one cable running into the external ESATA in the back of the motherboard. It's only recognizing 1 drive and the other 2 isn't showing up. If I switch it to USB connection it will read all 3 drives. I'm running windows 7 x64 but it recognize on my other 2 computers with a different motherboard. I have install it with the ACHI setup in Bios and I've also install the Matrix Storage Controller after installation. I never install the Intel ICH9R SATA RAID driver where you have to press the F6 to install it. Is that what I'm missing and is taht needed for the ESATA to work? I'm getting this message "A storage device was connected. If this device is a port multiplier, only port 0 of the port multiplier will be active." Been googling all day and still can't figure out what I'm missing.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

P35 Neo2-FR / Marvell Controller problem. - DVD/CD Burning

I think this is hardware related and more like limitation of the model rather than one faulty motherboard.
My setup is
P35 Neo2-FR / E8400 / WinXP
I have all 4 intel SATA for RAID so I've used Marvell controller for my DVDRW. 1st was NEC drive IDE and while it read disc fine it couldn't burn any CD/DVDs
I thought it was faulty DVDRW so I've bought a new samsung SATA burner. It has SAME exact problem. Cannot start burning.
I've tested the same unit with different computer, and of course it works.
I'm sure not many people have similar spec as mine (4 SATA HD RAIDS) so this might go unnoticed but I find it a very serious problem.

You might be right. This might be issue with Raid and Marvell conflicting.
I use Lastest driver for all of them. I actually use DriverPacks from DriverPacks.net
Just trying to see if anyone have same config as mine so I can know that this is driver issue and not hardware issue.
You could disconnect your raid setup and attach your burner to a Intel SATA port and see what the Intel controller thinks about your burner. Bios in none raid mode and fast boot disabled so you can see whats going on.
Boy there is another possible problem. I would never use the DriverPacks on hardware that I can get drivers for manually. Did you slipstream the DriverPack into your XP disk? I have seen the wrong drivers used and or mis configured when doing so.

This is happening for most of the pupils and staff at our school and they are unable to complete their work.
This also happens on a fresh copy of windows and CS5.5 without any updates and also with all latest updates.
I have tried it on 32-bit and 64-bit CS5, Windows, Air and Java with the same error every time.
There are a small minority of users where this works fine for them with no issue.
I have tried re-setting user profiles.
I have tried a local admin and domain admin account with the same issue
I have noticed however that if the file is moved to the shared area it will compile. If it is on their documents area it will not compile. The users have full control in both locations. This is fine for staff but we are unable to give full control or modify access to the shared area for the pupil's
I have been through the online support section and it directed me to phone Adobe Customer care who informed me that all support has been discontinued for CS5, CS5.5 and CS6 and they will only support creative cloud.
Any ideas what to try next? There is no other information about this error and I cannot work out what is causing it.

I have tried and able to package an apk using your XML file.Could you please make sure your XML file starting from line 1 and coloumn 0.Any space will results in the error (Application Descriptor file cannot be parsed)

Weird artefacts, mobo(P35 Neo2-FR) or gfx card problem?

Recently I was playing a game when some weird artefacts appeared on the screen before just completely freezing up.
I rebooted and saw this:
The desktop/login screen was all ****ed up too (pardon my French!)
I ran ATI Tool and saw my gfx was 40'c which was about normal considering I was just playing a game so don't think the gfx had overheated.
Then suddenly the PC froze.
Rebooted and got the same problems so I left it for several hours just in case it was overheating. (unlikely though since I've got plenty of fans, all of which are working and no alarms went off etc)
Few hours later, same problems but I noticed my IDE cable wasn't in all the way so I pushed unplugged/plugged it in and it worked fine!
Fast forward through 4 days of normal usage (although no games) with no problems to today.
Left the PC for a while before coming back and seeing the screensaver was all screwed up and the desktop was running at a lower resolution that it should have.
Shut down and restarted but nothing showed up on the monitor (LCD via a DVI->VGA adapter) not even the POST or BIOS messages.
Tried my TV which has DVI and an image was displayed:
Managed to login but again it was all ****ed up.
So at first I thought it was my graphics card but after it started working again I'm not so sure.
BTW, all the parts are only 2-3 months old and have worked flawlessly together since I built the PC.
I haven't been able to try any parts in any other PC's as I don't know anyone with a PCI-E mobo or even anyone with a PCI gfx card (only AGP and onboard!)
What do you guys think is the source of the problem?

Today I was working on a uni assignment so I only had Word, Firefox and Winamp open and some horizontal artefacts appeared.(nowhere near as bad as the above photos though, it was more like specs and dashes)
I opened up ATI Tool and saw the GPU temp was 35'c.
Before I could do anything it froze but the music continued playing. It stayed like this for a few seconds before going black and the music stopped.
So playing games at hi res for several hours did nothing, but having word and firefox open seemed to trigger something and start messing up.
After several restarts (kept crashing at first) I managed to get into Windows (with artefacts similar to the first photo) long enough to recover my assignment and shut down.

P35 Neo2 stuck at PIO in XP

Philips DVDRW (IDE)
Maxtor 320GB (SATA)
Antec 500W
The DVD writer is stuck at PIO mode no matter what I do. The Marvell is using the Standard MS IDE driver. I can't find any other drivers for the marvell ide on the included CD or MSI website. I'm guessing that there is no driver included from reading on this forum. This driver will go into DMA mode in VISTA so I'm thinking it's a matter of driver. Can anyone point me to the right drivers or maybe the right firmware.

I'm not sure how I would check this in the bios. The DVDRW shows up in the boot priority and that's all I see.

P35 NEO2-FIR Controler problems

Specs new pc:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz, 1333 MHz, 6 MB
MSI P35 NEO2-FIR (stock bios, not at home so I can't check which bios version it currently has)
Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 512MB, PCI-e 16x
Corsair TWIN2x4096-6400C4DHX PC6400, 800 MHz, cas 4, Kit of 2
Antec Earthwatts 500 Watt, 80 Plus Rating
Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB, 720 Rpm, 32 MB Cache, S-ATA II/300
Lite-On DVD-RW LH-20A1S S-ATA
Everything on STOCK speeds. (no overclocking)
While building the pc I inserted my DVD-player from my previous pc (IDE interface) and connected it properly to the pc. (jumper on master and connected to the master connector on the IDE cable)
It gave me an error during windows installation that the disk would be corrupted or something similar while the disk was in the IDE drive. Then I placed the Windows disk into the S-ATA Lite-On drive and then it didn't have any problem and continued installation of windows. After installation I noticed windows didn't recognize the IDE player. I checked the bios and it wouldn't show up there either.
Then I inserted two of my IDE harddrives (320GB Maxtor and 120GB Maxtor) and they wouldn't show up on the bios or in windows either.
This all happened 1 week ago.
Today I booted my pc to find out it didn't have any internet/network connection so I thought my housemates did something with the router but soon I found out my pc was the problem. Reinstalled windows to check if it was a driver issue. Nothing helped so now my IDE controller and LAN controller both seem to be broken.
Would this be possible because of an unstable bios version or is my motherboard dying slowly?

I highly doubt another IDE drive would work, it's worth a shot though. Might try it tonight when I get home.
About the LAN driver: I installed Windows XP Pro twice, installed all drivers and the hardware manager wasn't showing any unknown hardware. So I guess it's safe to say it wasn't a driver issue since it just stopped working after a week and I didn't change the software or hardware setup in any way.

Msi p35 neo2 fr problem

Alright, I have been using this board for quite sometime and today it gives me problem.
When i tried to boot up this morning, the board just keeps on restarting. This happened once b4 but the problem solved after I pressed on the reset button on the board.
whereas for today, after resetting, the board did stop restarting itself, but it hangs when the LED is at (red, red, green, red)from top to bottom. I refered to the user guide and it shows that there is a problem during memory detection.
Can anyone pls help?

Okay. About the memory issue: I believe a BIOS Update to the latest version may fix the problem with your DDR2-800 modules. BIOS v1.2, v1.3 and v1.4 had known problems with DDR2-800 modules. In case you decide to do that, please >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< and avoid MSI Live Update or any other Windows based flasher.
About the video card: I is not necessarely defective. Your PSU is not only a low-end poor quality device but also rather weak in the first place. Try a stronger one with your original video card and see if that changes anything.
