P35 platinum(7345) and "F" keys on boot up

does any body know of any f keys to press on boot up apart from f8 -- f11--and f4 in bios. i only need for my help section when trying to resolve problems for my self and others. thanks in advace

Oh man, do I feel your pain. In the last 2 weeks, I've had to re-install Snow Leopard 4 times because of a machine lockup. I haven't been able to find anything to fix the problem. I have 2.5 GB of RAM installed, over 70% of my hard drive is available (free GB to use for virtual memory, scratch disk, etc.), and just basic applications installed. Just as you said, I'll be doing something extremely simple, such as browsing the web (maybe 2 tabs open), and transferring files from my Time Machine backup in the background; out of nowhere, that **** beachball will start spinning, and things grind to a halt. Maybe 5-30 seconds later, everything resumes as normal. It's getting so f'n bothersome. I've read everywhere: it's Safari, it's the network, it's Time Machine, it's this or that. I've literally tried everything, and nothing seems to fix the problem. SMART status reports no problems with my disk, Disk Warrior says my directories are optimized, iStat Menus say the CPU isn't working too hard, nor am I running out of memory. For God's sake, what is wrong?!?! I'm sorry if I'm ranting, but I've just about had it. Currently, I'm using Chrome (even though I miss Safari), I'm not backing up to my Time Capsule, and I only open one app at a time (and remember, my installation is brand new; I've simply installed the COMBO updater via Software Update). It still "hiccups." I really, really, really hate to say this, but it's true: I never had problems like this with my old HP running XP. I absolutely love the Mac, and up until now, I've been an overzealous fan boy, but I can't keep doing this. I'm a web developer, so I need my computer to be running in tip-top shape at all times. Oh well, if you figure anything out, I'd love to hear about it. Good luck to you. Again, sorry about the diatribe. Have a good day.

  • P35 Platinum stuck with 008D error in boot with newly added OCZ Fatal1ty rams

    Hi,
I was using 2x1 GB 800 MHZ OCZ vista performance rams without any problem. I just bought 2x1 OCZ Fatal1ty 1066 MHZ rams. In the specification of my P35 Platinum mainboard it tells that it supports 1066 (OC).
I don't want of course to run all my rams at 1066 MHZ. I just want to run all of them at 800 MHZ.
However, when I placed all 4 rams in every combinotion on the slots, computer boots but it stuck after the boot screen and there is "008D" in the rightdown corner.
Interestingly when I just put Fatality rams (2GB)  computer doesn't boot! Only 1xvista perf. Mhz 1xFatal1ty or 1xvista perf. Mhz 1xFatal1ty works but stuck at after the boot screen.
I tried to enter 5-5-5-15 values and tried to adjust memory voltage to 2.1 V as told in the new ram's specification but doesn't affect. What is your solution? Since new rams do not work among themselves, are they broken or my board doesn't support them?

If I'm not wrong, your post sounds to me that you are trying to mix the OCZ Vista and OCZ Fatal1ty RAMs on the same board.
This is highly not recommended as both RAMs are very different in most aspects (Speed, latencies, voltage and made).
I would suggest that you clear CMOS and choose which set you'll want to boot the system with and settle with that.

If I deactivate External IDE from bios, Raid bios is accessible and raid drives are ok, but I can't use Cd drives. With an older bios version 1.0 I can use both raid and CD drives, but I can't build raid 10 drive, only raid 1 or raid 0 drives.

Hi as the provider didn't have the Matrox at first he installed temporarely an Nvidia 8800GTS card. This has been replaced since. The RAID array just crashed yesterday and Windows XP pro has just shown me the big blue screen, since then nothing. It is KO.
I really wonder if I will ever work with MSI again. My client is really p...off!
Tell me if you already experienced this type of problem.

    Hi
    I've tried Kingston KVR1066D3S8N7/2G (2gb 1066mhz PC3-8500 NON-ECC CL7 240-Pin DIMM) and MB didnt even boot.
I installed the dimms as its done in msi MB manual.
Same result with two same ddr3 dimms.
    BIOS v.1.30 and CPU Intel Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
Can someone please tell me should this ram work with this MB or not :(
    Thanks in advance

Hi I have this exact same Kingston DDR3 ram as Jeff mentioned and same processor and motherboard. Bios v1.3, and even my PC wont display anything, the CPU fan is working the LEDs are on inside the cabinet. But its like the Screen gets no signal. I tried with Single stick and still no results. However it works fine with DDR2 ram. Please some1 suggest a solution.

  • P35 platinum, memory and videocard questions

    Hi folks.
I recently had a problem with an Asus P5K board in the sense that it doesn't allow use of 8gb of ram (despite saying it does) when you use 4x 2gb sticks. I want to replace this board with a P35 platinum but first I want to make sure my geil 8gb kit (4x 2gb DDR2 6400 sticks) will work (I'll be runnnig windows xp x64).
Also I have an XFX Geforce 8800 Ultra which has quite a big cooler, I read in some reviews of the board that the southbridge heatsink is too high for cards with big coolers like that to fit neatly. My question is will it still work? Can I screw the card in or do I have to live in fear of it plummetting out of the slot?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

I've tried 4 x 2GB OCZ DDR2 memory sticks. P35 Platinum detects 8GB main memory but shows usage memory as only 4GB out of 8GB. I've emailed MSI helpline if they can help out.

  • P35 Platinum (7345 1.1) "GRRG debug"

hey after getting a total computer failiure (psu based) i got a new PSU and found out that one of my stick of memory was totally shot (would not boot in any config with that stick in) so i currently have 2 sticks in i managed to get it back to life after underclocking my computer and puting my memory back up to its default voltage (2.2v) and it worked for a few weeks just fine, but last night it had a hickup and paused on said lightcode and the bios screen showed ( stuck at initalising usb controllers) so i rebooted the computer a few times and it booted just fine,
light code is GRRG (processor information)
now this night i turned it on it stick at that error regardless of what i do and i cannot get to bios (i have reset bios since then and now only see the damn splash screen and dont get the the point i can press TAB to see the post)
i have unplugged all my front usb on the motherboard and unplugged all usb devices, i will also try fiddleing with the memory tonight,
a friend says that my old psu could have damaged my motherboard with power fluctuations (damage as in blown transistors and capacitors),
    setup:
    e6750 c2d
800mhz ballistix 4-4-4-12 (clocked at 667 5-5-5-15 for stability) manufacturer default 2.2v (when i was overclocking it would run 900mhz 4-4-4-10 at 2v tested stable)
650w PSU (last psu was a 7 year old server PSU rated at 1400w)
8800gt 1gb (know to work in another machine so this is not the problem afaik)
cpu cooler: gemini II with 2 high power fans
any idea? i am on a VERY tight budget and wish to in some way zombie this mainboard back to life so i have a computer to use,

I would suggest that you set everything back to original stock and use just one RAM to boot and see if there are is success.

Please forgive me starting this again as a New Topic. I thought most of you wouldn't want to read over an old post.....I hope I was right?
I finally have started the ball rolling with my rebuild, I have follwed recommendations and bought the MSI P35 platinum MBO. I am now looking at a Q6600 Quad processor, I now would like to review the compatibility of my other components. Will my Enermax handle the power reqd, should I go for a new heat-sink/cooler? Will my case need replacing? I am concerned with heating after my Pentium 4 processor which radiated like a stove pipe. I have read the P35 does a great job of cooling main reason I chose it. I also would like to quieten fan noise as much as possible, existing set-up is noisy. I hope I can still draw your interest into my plight....I'd rather slow things down and get it right. Thanks in advance

Mine is an Enermax EG701AX-VE (600W) the fan was noisy and did get a bit rattly in my previous P4N Diamond 7160 + Northwood EE set up and the exhaust air was very warm. Since I upgraded to the P35 Platinum 7345 + Q6600 the fan is now quiet as I can turn it down to minimum and the exhaust air is still cool.
I read the reviews on all the CPU coolers and the best budget one seems to be the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro7. I was looking for a cooler around £40 and after looking at performance tables went for the Thermaltake V1. It also dropped the system temperature (around the circu-pipes) and overall case temperature significantly.

  • Problem installing MSI P35 Platinum & MSI NX8600GT & windows XP

    Hi all,
I just bought my MSI P35 platinum mobo and MSI NX8600GT graphics card.
Was trying to install XP on it.  During installation, got the following error message :
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer.  If this appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space.  If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.  Try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates.  Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.  If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.
    Technical Information:
    *** Stop : 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF748E0BF, 0XF78DA208, 0XF78D9F08)
    *** pci.sys - Address F748E0BF base at F7487000, DateStamp 3b7d855c
Then it just freezes there.  Any ideas how I can resolve this ? Please help

  • MS 7345 - P35 Platinum won't boot

    Hello guys,
My P35 Platinum probably died last night. First sign of a trouble was when system hanged on WIN7 booting screen. After reset the system hanged on first screen where it shows SATA discs connected. After turning off there is no more reaction to the power button.
The only sign of life coming from MB is the standby light (red LED3 from manual) flashing. If I remember correctly this should be on, not flashing. After day of browsing/searching I can't find anything like this.
    Any ideas please?
Setup of the computer is really not important as it worked like this for at least 3 years. Anyways, I'll try what I remember:
    MSI 7345 P35 Platinum v1.1
    Intel Core2 E6800
    OCZ RAMs 6GB
    PSU Bluestorm 2 500W
    GFX Gainward 480
    SATA2 disks

Probably your PSU and hopefully it didn't take anything else with it.
That thing wasn't made for modern systems. 18A each on 2 X 12V rails and you were running a GTX480? Surprising that it didn't die sooner.
Test with another good quality PSU.

  • P35 Platinum and WD Hard Disks unrecognised on cold boot

    Hi,
I am having a problem with my WD drives on my P35 Platinum motherboard. Simply, if I power down my PC neither drive is recognised when I boot up again. Usually I have to open the PC, reseat the SATA cables (this may be a red herring) and then when restarted the drives are recognised again.
A simple restart from within Windows (warm boot) works every time.
I would have suspected a cabling connection problem, except that I have tried other cables and also the fact that it is both drives every time, rather than one, other or both randomly.
I have seen other people having problems with the spin-up time of WD drives and have disabled quick booting in the BIOS, but this has not helped much. I have also verified that the RAID Mode is set to IDE, as I am not using any RAID features.
The disks themselves are plugged into SATA3 & SATA4, whilst my Pioneer DVD Writer is plugged into SATA5.
I have the latest BIOS installed but cannot remember the version number off the top of the head, my full hardware spec is in my sig and the 160GB drive is my system disk.
Does anyone have any other suggestions that I could try?
Apart from this issue my PC works flawlessly.
    Regards,
    Charles

Just FYI though, it appears (by some comments on Newegg.com) that there is some compatibility issue between my CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 750W and the P35 Neo2-FR motherboard.  The power supply worked fine by itself, and the motherboard ended up working fine with a different power supply (Antec Neopower 650 Blue).

  • P35 Platinum won't boot

    Hi all.
    My specs are :

Corsair 620W HX V2 Series Modular PSU

    Patriot 4GB PC2-6400 C5 Extreme Performance (2x2GB) [PDC24G6400ELK] Latency : 5-5-5-15 [2.0v]
    500GB Seagate/Maxtor SATA2 16MB
    MSI GeForce 8800GTX 768MB PCI-E OC
NEC Optiarc 18x DVD-RW RAM SATA Black
    List of problems :
    1)
1 boot. auto restart after 2 seconds after starting to boot
    2 boot ( RRGR ) - reboot
3 boot -> message that overclocking failed and fail-safe default settings loaded and I'm able to use bios or all stays just like in the second boot till the end of the times ( untill you turn off the PSU and turn it again -> then go to boot one )
    2) When in bios it shows that CPU clock is 1.8Ghz but it should be 3.0Ghz
    3) It cant find a HDD but it's plugged into us usual and in bios I can see it but when it starting to boot it can't resolve the HDD.
    Any ideas ? Thanks

    My config:
    MB: P35 platinum ver. 1.2
    BIOS: Unknown
    PROCESSOR: Intel Quadcore Q6600 G0
RAM: Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 PC800 2x2Gb (total of 4Gb in 2 slots)
    PSU: Corsair 620HX (620W)
    CASE: Antec SOLO
    Noctua NH12F
    FANS: 1 x Nexus 120mm fan, 2 x Nexus 92 mm fans
    HD: 2 x WD raptor 74Gb
    VIDEO: PNY Quadro Fx570
Now I have the same identical problem....
    New configuration, assembled by myself.
Plugged only processor and thermal unit, PSU, video, fans.
Connections motherboard-PSU: ATX 24 pin (main power to motherboard), ATX 12V 8 pin (CPU power), ATX 12V 4 pin (PCI express X16 power)
Jumper setting of FSB leaved by default (200. Other values avaiable: 266, 333).
I DID NOT PRESS the CLEAR CMOS BUTTON.
1st PHASE (maybe due to not press the CLEAR CMOS???)
1st boot: a series of autorebooting for a while.
After that a message of wrong overclock settings, but at least i was able to enter on BIOS.
    ISSUES:
Under "System information" i noticed a correct identification of CPU model and number BUT under "CPU frequency" a wrong CPU speed (1,80 GHz instead of 2,4) AND under "Usage memory" something like 3Gb instead of my 4Gb.
So i cleared the CMOS by pressing "CLEAR CMOS BUTTON" on the P35.
    2nd PHASE
    Reboot...
    Loaded the BIOS.
Now the Processor frequency is correct.
But when i opened the BIOS "CELL menu" -> "Advance DRAM configuration", and made some changes on DRAM latency (according to the values suggested by my DDR2 manufacturer, Patriot) the BIOS froze up.
Waited for a long while...but at the end I rebooted.
After reboot...PROBLEM WITH MEMORY: the PC just freeze on "Memory Detection Test" (LED sequence: red, red, green, red), so no chance to modify anything (no video, no keyboard, nothing...).
I tried to clear the CMOS again, but nothing.
I tried to unplug the motherboard battery, but nothing.
I tried with putting only one DDR2 module, but nothing.
Right now i can not try another memory module (I hope that tomorrow a friend of mine can borrow me one, so i can make some tests).
    BUT FOR THE MOMENT....ANY IDEA???
    I'm quite scared....Did I kill my DDR2?????
Or it's an issue with the brand PATRIOT???? (On the forum i read a lot of issues between P35 and memory modules made by Patriot!).
If so, can we hope in a BIOS upgrade that will fix the problem?
    HELP ME...

  • P35 Platinum ... Initializing Floppy Drive Controller ?? (Wont Boot)

    Hi all
I have built a new comp for someone who wants reliability so i choose to go Platinum, but ... i cant make it boot.
It wont even show ANYTHING on the screen (tried the vga in both Pci-e 16x just in case i was dumb enough lol) the boot "procces" stops with the Status leds showing:
    4) Green
    3) Green
    2) RED
    1) Green
According to the user guide it says:
    Initializing Floppy Drive Controller.
This will initialize floppy drive and controller.
And i dont even have a floppy
Well as the problem persisted i removed EVERYTHING from the motherboard
    now i left:
    -Mother
    -Processor
    -Memory
    -VGA
    -PSU
And thats it. Let me tell you all the things i tried:
-Bios reset (with the little red button)
    -Plug only necesary things
-Taking off the battery and replacing it (and went back to the "original")
-Tried different connectors just in case it was the PSU (i really dont think so)
    -Tried different memory stick/s.
And well, thats all i think, half of this i did it with the mother in the case, and re-did all the list with the moter OUTSIDE the case. Can anybody help me ??
I guess is a BIOS problem, as i readed in another post (yeah used search first xD) but the only guy who could solve the problem was flashing the bios, but i cant even see a word on the screen, is it possible to flash the bios in my condition ??
    The specs now:
    Intel C2D E4500
    MSI P35 PLATINUM
2x1Gb (or 1x1gb, tried single sticks as well) OCZ DDR2 667mhz (and tried also with generic "titan" memory at 800mhz, does not change anything)
    Gigabyte 8400GS
    POWERCOOLER PS-500 SS PSU
AFAIK i have more than enough to make this boot, but well ... you know
Thanks in advance, i tried to give all details possible, in 2 days ill go to RMA if i cant make it work, but i would like give it a try, who knows
EDIT: my english sucks really bad, forgive me !!
EDIT2: Forgot to add !! when i remove the VGA the motherboard DOES the "VGA ERROR BEEP" and the leds are in the correct combination for VGA ERROR ... so i guess processor works and ram too (both OCZ and generic), if one of these fails then it wont make any sound, m i wrong ??

    ITS ALIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, to be honest, i dont know what it really was but tried 2 things:
First i followed step by step and word by word the "clearing CMOS" guide (this mobo has a button and not a juper, so i pressed the button like 2 minutes to be REALLY sure xD), then i realized that it was not doing the "beeps" anymore, but the screen was black like before.
SOOOOOOOOOOOO THEEEEEEEEN ... (shoot me in the head for this) i unplugged the video and keyboard from the KVM switch (could THIS be the problem ?? i used it wit hundreds of computers and never gave me prblems before  ??? ??? ???) and plugged the cables directly and now its alive !!!
    THANKS !!  :D :D :D :D :D
    One last thing !!
Do you recommend me to upgrade the BIOS ?? the board always did a "false boot" then starts normally, i readed it was some "hardware checking" feature, its that true or its totally useless ??
THANKKKKKKKKKKKKKKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSSSSSSS =) (im so damn happy now LOL)

  • P35 Platinum and NX8800GTS

I have both motherboard and graphic card from MSI (oh yeah ):
    - Graphic card : NX8800GTS T2D640OE
    - Motherboard : P35 Platinum (MS-7345 v1.x)
And I have question about power connectors on board of graphic card and motherboard. On motherboard there is power connector sweetly called JPWR1, described in manual as "JPWR1 12V power connector is used to provide power to the PCIEX16 graphics card".
But on graphic card is already power connector. I can plug in specific cable that divides in two normal power connectors to connect to power supply.
It is safe to plug in all three connectors to power supply? (one to JPWR1 on motherboard, two to graph card through this special cable)
It is even neccessary to plug in all connectors?

I punched your component list into the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator v2.5.  Only the Pro-Version (not free) shows the amperages on the different rails (+12V, +5V, +3,3V).  The overall wattage if a PSU doesn't really really mean anything without the amperage values.
Anyways, I selected "High End Desktop Mainboard", "2 SATA drives" in the component list, added three 120mm fans, three USB devices and one additional PCI card. I also set CPU Utilization (TDP) to 100%.

When used heavily or over an extended period of time (1+ years) a power supply will slowly lose some of its initial wattage capacity. We recommend you add 10-20% if you plan to keep your PSU for more than 1 year, or 20-30% for 24/7 usage and 1+ years.
When I enter 15% the calculation adds up to:

    429W
    +12V: 26.5A
    +5V: 15.4A
    3.3V: 10.4A
Finally, I overclocked your CPU to 4GHz / VCore 1.4V:

    481W
    +12V: 30.8A
    +5V: 15.4A
    3.3V: 10.4A
I don't know how accurate these calculations are.  In any case, they should give you an idea of your systems power consumption.  When I choose PSUs I always make sure I have a headroom of about 30% in the +12V-amperages.  So if I was you I would get a PSU with about 36-40A maximum amperage on the +12V-Rail, depending if I plan to overclock the CPU or not.
Many users in this forum will recommend choosing a Single +12V-rail PSU.  One of the reason is you won't have to worry about problems due to inbalanced power loads or wasted power resources.
If you plan to get a PSU with two +12V-rails, make sure that the maximum amperage on each rail is at least 18-20A.  Maximum combined amperage on +12V should not be less than 36-40A.

  • P35 Platinum and Patriot Memory DDR2 PC6400

    Hello,
I've tried to adjust RAM Timings, RAM Voltage and RAM frequency manually on my P35 Platinum with BIOS 1.4. I had a reboot loop at CAS 4 so I've tried to put at 1000 MHZ ratio 2:3 after a clear CMOS. It's working.
Now my Patriot Memory is working at CAS 5 ratio 2:3 2,2V and 1000 MHz.
Should I carry on my "quest" to CAS 4 or are these settings good enough? I'm quite lost.....What should I have to do?
Does Patriot Memory owners experienced the same issue? Why can't they be set to CAS 4?
One more thing: After the Post, the Marvell Bios loads but find no hard disk on adapter 1. With Bios 1.1, there was no problem. Do you have any explanations?
    Thanks

    Hello Spikape,
please list full system specs and provide more information about the specific model/type of Patriot Memory you are using.

Can you try to be more specific about this?  Was it an on-->off-->on-->boot cycle or did your system reboot multiple times?

I'd like to know if maybe theres something wrong that I'm doing or if both sticks happen to be bad or something else that I'm missing? I've tried different combinations of slots/sticks and tried manually setting the fsb with the JB1 and JB2 jumpers. Someone said the 1.3 bios was picky about ram but I'm not sure how to check what bios version it is since I cant get that far =p
