happy new year to all .now then ive been running everest v4.60 util and it shows my mobo temps at highest 56c during gaming and then cools down to 40c when just touring the web and normal desktop stuff.  now i am not having any issues no bsods noprobs whilst thrashing my system playing nfs undercover (very fast on grapffics) or farcry2 just wondering are these temps normal or is my mobo telling me its got problems thanks in advance for all help

Played Farcry2 with medium to high settings for more than 2 hours.
My cpu temp reached 40c and mb temp about 50C with ambeint room temp is around mid 25 here in mumbai winter.
I have a brand new:
Core 2 Duo e7300 2.66
MSI 9300/730i mobo
Corsair XMS2 2GB kit

  • SLI and P35 Platinum Mobo

Is it possible to run a setup with two 6800GT cards on the MSI P35 Platinum Motherboard? If it is, any idea where I might find an SLI bridge for the cards?
    Thanks
    Pete

SLI requires an nVidia chipset that supports it. You have a board that uses an Intel chipset.

  • P35 Platinum Mobo - PC will not power off, restarts immediately

After 4 weeks of excellent performance my new PC will not shut down but restarts immediately. I have tried the following, reseated all power connectors, set bios to "failsafe", reset CMOS and checked all other cable connections to drives etc so I am now stuck.
I am running Vista Ultimate, Core 2/Quad E9300, 4gb Ram, 2 X 500gb samsung SATA HDD's, Nvidia GeForce 9600GT. The only thing I did not check before posting was the BIOS version so I will reboot and post it subsequently.
    Any help much appreciated,
    TIA,
    Colin

    Hello corkyboy,
in BIOS, go to the section labeled Power Management Setup -> Wake Up Event Setup and disable all options that have to do with Resume (especially Resume by PCI Device (PME#) and Resume by PCI-E Device).

Also, note that your CPU is not officially supported before BIOS A7345IMS.180 (v1.80).  If you decide to update your BIOS at any point please do not use MSI Live Update but the forum's USB flashing tool.  It is a much safer method.

  • Problem installing MSI P35 Platinum & MSI NX8600GT & windows XP

    Hi all,
I just bought my MSI P35 platinum mobo and MSI NX8600GT graphics card.
Was trying to install XP on it.  During installation, got the following error message :
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer.  If this appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space.  If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.  Try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates.  Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.  If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

I recently bought a WD My Book Premium ES 500GB and when i try to connect it via eSata cable, it doesn't work.My system can't recognize the drive, it doesn't show up in BIOS screen where HDD's are. I tried 2 different eSata cables but nothing.Via USB2 connection it works fine.
My system Specs are: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600,MSI P35 Platinum Mobo with latest BIOS update 1.1, 2GB RAM DDR2, Asus X1950XT VGA,Tagan 500W PSU.
I tried both eSata ports at the Back Panel of my motherboard but none worked with My Book.
Is there a problem with My Book? or is a compatibility issue?

Make sure you have set the switch or whatever your external drive has, to E-Sata mode.  I'm sure you probably already did that but just sayin!
I have a different board AND different external drive but after playing with my setup for a whole day trying to get the esata to work, it finally dawned on me that I had not set the switch from  USB to Esata (no wisecracks please
As soon as I did the switch, the Esata started working just fine.

  • P35 Platinum - CPU Cooler of Choice for a Quiet Solution

Hello Everyone...I'm going to put together a build with a P35 Platinum mobo. Would others care to offer what CPU Coolers they are using that are quiet? I want to go with a 100+mm fan solution, but I'd like to hear from others here with any good or bad luck with a larger cooler on this board.
    Thanks!

Thanks for responses, very helpful.  I have a slight worry about the board having enough room for a larger cooler and wondered if anyone here had some experience with size limitations. If  a Scythe Ninja would fit, then probably anything would fit.
Sorry to spawn another thread off this topic, but my other concern was the reports of the heatsink being used on the P35 for the south bridge sitting up a bit high and preventing video cards (i.e. 8800 GTS/GTX) from seating properly. I did see a post in here some place referring to that, and the poster stated the heatsink was not preventing the card from seating in the socket far enough to prevent connectivity. But that was the only reference I found in this forum.  Does anyone have anything new to say in this regard as well?  What cards are people using with this board would be helpful. I am a huge MSI fan so don't sling anything at me, but I find it disappointing that this issue occurred and even a review on the P35 with an MSI graphics cards was used to demonstrate this flaw (http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/462). So I suspect that some video cards may be fine based on their design and I would like to know which if possible.
Thanks for your support and continued spending!

  • P35 Platinum can handle 4x1GB ?

I'd like to know from other whether they can confirm/deny the P35 Platinum board can handle all the 4 slots filled with a 1GB module, other sites seem to report problems with this config and the P35 chipset (something to do with the limited Northbridge capacity), but I really am curious after your experiences.
At what FSB + mem speeds where you able to use all the 4 slots ?

He, many thanks for that ...
I noticed you set the RAID mode to AHCI, but have you then subsequently setup a RAID in the BIOS with just 1 hard drive, or didn't you have to do that ? Did you use the Intel Matrix Storage driver under Vista/XP or just the default Windows AHCI drivers ?

  • MSI P35 Platinum keeps crashing

    Hello!
    I have the following setup:
    MSI P35 Platinum w/ 1.6 BIOS
    INTEL E6750
    CRUCIAL BALLISTIX 2x1GB DDR2 1066
    MSI 512MB HD2600XT
PC Power and Cooling PSU 750W Single Rail
WD 80GB SATA HDD w/ OS
    SEAGATE 320GB HDD for storage
Since i built this system ive been having several stability issues.  Sometimes it will just completely freeze and video will go on standby.  Lately whenever i play WOW or COD4 it will just crash the game, the machine is fine but it will quit the game.  Ive tried MS memory test and also MEMTEST and both give me no error.  Checked HDD for error and there fine.  Latest GPU drivers off ATI website.  Also when  i run CPUZ latencies are wayyy higher than specs.  And if i run my mem at 800 it will work fine.  I know it may e some settings i have wrong, please help me.
    Regards,

So ill just leave them at 800mhz.
Should i just change the FSB Ratio to lower the RAM to 800MHZ?
    Leo,
    Use the BIOS default settings.
Your DDR2 modules with 5-5-5-15 at 1.85-1.9V (the default DDR2 voltage on MSI mobos) are running at 800MHz.
    And that's because they're DDR2-800 ...
Do not mess up the FSB. INTEL E6750 is a great processor.
    You need stability, not troubles!

  • Msi P35 platinum: bios auto-raises NB & SB voltages when fsb over 316

Why does this happen when I'm overclocking FSB in bios and reaching over 316, NB voltage goes 1.250V->1.450V and SB I/O Power 1.5V->1.8V automatically. Both are in red text after this.
Of course, I can try to lower these settings back to normal but never tried.. I've just left these raised voltage settings because everything is running fine (now E2140@2816MHz,352FSB). But are these settings safe (NB 1,45V and SB I/O 1,8V) ??
I know that raising NB voltage is necessary when raising up FSB but SB I/O Power voltage?
Should I try lower these voltages and see if my computer is still stable?
    I have bios v1.6, mobo msi p35 platinum rev1.1...
    Please help me

this is probably due to overclock jumper's setting for FSB STRAP(200/266/333).
With my Neo 2 Fr (pretty similar) about the same happen to me but at 382...then I moved the jumper to the 333 setting (see manual) and no more change in voltage of NB and SB over 382.
If you do so, be careful on your setting before the change of position of the jumper as it automaticaly add 67 mhz to the FSB and so the system may not start because of too high cpu freq. Be careful also on memory multiplier (before the change set it to 1:1 or calculate the ram freq. (FSB+67 mhz and your memory multiplier)) as the system may not start because of the RAM.
However even if it not start after 2-3 reboot it start in safe mode(as after OC) and you can change the settings.
My advice:I think your cpu fsb by default is 200, if so and if you don't plan to go over 382 set the jumper to 266 (you should be ok with voltages until 382mhz of FSB.
Always remember what said over about the +67 mhz on FSB when you move the jumper!!!!

  • MSI P35 Platinum EEPROM

Hi, I need some information urgently. My friend owns the Asus M4A79 Deluxe motherboard. I'ts about 2 weeks old now, and he tried to mod his BIOS. It failed, because he didn't follow my precise instructions. Now, he has nothing more than a piece of paper, it's dead.
Is there anyone that can tell me where I can find the EEPROM of my MSI P35 Platinum motherboard? Where is the EEPROM located on the MS-7345 motherboard? I know it'll be an 8-pin IC, which is soldered to the board.
My idea is to do a hotflash, i want to desolder my BIOS chip & solder a IC holder to the board, then, use my mobo as an EEPROM Programmer. I don't want to disasemble my whole PC just to find out that the EEPROM is integrated in the chipset, so if possible, can anyone tell me wheter the MSI P35 Platinum has an EEPROM located on the board & where exactly can I find it?

    Quote
I was wondering, isn't it possible to connect his BIOS chip to my motherboard's JSPI1 connector & program it from there?
I highly doubt that.  But even if that was possible, how would you want to establish communication from (let's say) DOS to whatever you connect to the JSPI1 header?
    Quote
but it's not 100% straight forward, I'll have to read up on this.
I am sure, you will figure it out.
    Quote
Also, I'll build the LPT circuit as soon as I have time, but with which tool will I reprogram the chip with?
Oh, you will definately find it, once you do some reading (there are direct links to it in the articles I pointed you to).  However, here is a link to the English Download Site of the Czech Programmer that made it:
    http://www.volny.cz/rayer/programm/programe.htm
Scroll down until you see a tool called SPIPGM in the list.
When I used the an older version of the tool (after building the described SPI Cable) to reprogram the BIOS Chip of my P45 Platinum after a bad flash, the tool did not entirely support the chip yet (Macronix MX25L3205 in my case).  However, it was able to detect it anyway (FlashROM JEDEC ID: EF3016h) and when it does not know its size it will simply prompt you to enter it.
An additional alternativ, which may actually be the fastest way to fix things, would be to simply order a new chip and have it programmed for you with a working BIOS Image.  I don't know where you live and what places there are near you that offer this kind of service.  Over here in Germany, I know at least one place that does this kind of stuff:
    http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bios-fix.de%2Fcatalog%2Fproduct_info.php%3FcPath%3D1_28%26products_id%3D139

I was considering to use an old ATi Graphics Card as an EEPROM Programmer, since it also has an 8-pin EEPROM with the exact same pinout. The hardware is not problem, I can quickly assemble it, but the software would be the problem, ATi's tools wont program an 8-megabit (1 megabyte) BIOS chip?
Another thing, the LAN ROM of the P35 Platinum, that can also be used?
No idea, never tried that nor have I ever thought about it.

  • MSI P35 Platinum Load Plate Cover

On my motherboard (an MSI P35 Platinum), the processor socket has a load plate to cover the CPU after it's put in place. You use the load lever to secure the load plate. But the load lever, on my mobo, requires what feels to me an excessive amount of force to secure the load plate in place. I don't want to damage the processor, so I'm inquiring here. Can anyone with experience tell me how much force is usually required? The CPU is lined up correctly...

It felt like a lot of pressure, just make sure your two notches are lined up and grunt like a man.

A few questions regarding your current setup:
    1) How are your system temperatures (CPU core temps, GPU temps, system temp etc).  Use SpeedFan/Everest/Core Temp to monitor your system temperatures.
    2) Is DOT disabled in BIOS?  If not, please disable DOT immediately and see if there is any change in system behaviour.
    3) Is MSI Dual Core Center installed/running when this happens?  If yes, uninstall that tool for further tests.
    4)
Try to loosen RAM performance settings for testing:
    - reduce memory freqency to 667 MHz in BIOS
    - manually set RAM timings to 5-5-5-18 in BIOS
    - set memory voltage to 1.9/1.95/2V for testing
    5) Have you installed the Vista Patch for more than 3Gb of RAM?
    1) CPU: 31C 34C 31C 31C; GPU: 60C; System: 45C (speedfan). Here in Panama ambient temp is somewhere between 25-31C
2)Yes DOT is disabled all time
3)I never installed dual core center
    4)Currently is running @800
5)I downloaded the patch and it says that doesn't apply to my system (Vista 64bit)
I found that when disabling the x-fi, the system runs OK. Is there any issues with that x-fi or 64bit driver? I ask because previously I was running vista 32bit with that same soundcard and everything was OK.
    Thanks for the replies!

They suspect a ground issue, but also have been reported several 12V rail "abnormal behaviours".
hi all, thanks for posts. we already switched to enermax psus and everything is going just fine.
but the question about cooler master psu still remain...we've done some electric tests, but we didnt find any ground problems...regard the 12V rail...an "abnormal behaviours" is a *very* generic definition of the problem, so we dont understand where we have to look...
It would be nice to find where really is the problem, so we really can say they products are "mediocres" and feel free of suggest them or not...this way product judgment can be based on real technical facts and not personal opinions...
