P45 Neo3FR restart issue

Ello
4 days have passed since I got my new pc.. 4 days in which I tried to make it work (with no result of course). The system : MSI p45 neo3fr, leadtek 9800gx 2 with 1gb, 2x1gb a-data 1066, intel e8500 and a corsair 470w power supply.
The system reboots everytime I do something other than just watch the screen. If I try to run prime or orthos it reboots in 2-3 seconds. I checked the cables and all the other components but Im wondering if there is a compatibility issue between the mobo and the memories since A-Data was not on the "supported by neo3" list.
Any directions?

Okay okay I get it but the psu is not the problem. I know this for sure because I switched the 9800gx2 with an older 8800gt and it still restarts and stuff. So right now the psu<>gpu is not the main problem.
Yep, thinking the same according to test that you have done:
/* VGA is not underload when you doing the Orthos testing where you the problems, that means CPU overheating, Memory troubles{Too tight timings, underpowered memory sticks, defective stick} Do you have any OC?}
Do memory check with >>Memtest86<< 1st

  • Another Mavericks Random Restart issue...

I've seen lots of discussions about these issues, but nothing definitive that will simply fix our problems. For the last month I've been trying the various suggestions offered on these forums: turning off the Energy Saver stuff, auto logging in, etc, but still having intermittent random restart issues.
I called Apple this morning and went through these trouble shooting steps with their tech:
    1) Reboot to Recovery Mode (cmd-r)
    2) Disk First Aid to repair (success)
    3) Disk First Aid to Verify Disk (no trouble found. Verified)
30 minutes after hanging up the phone, BAM. Random restart again. Seems like I'm always pressing a keyboard key or mouse clicking when this happens. No matter if it's the trackpad, the wireless Apple Mouse, a USB mouse, the built in keyboard, or my external Matias keyboard.
My next step is to appeal to the gear heads here for any assistance they can offer. Thanks in advance for any input you can provide. Here's my EtreCheck report and latest panic report:

I am a volunteer here. I don't work for Lenovo

Hi again, I found a solution to the nested folders problem. Apparently this was not due to Java... It was just a folder replicating itself over and over again. Still don't know the cause, but searching with Google I found this:http://forums.macnn.com/54/unix/156870/nesting-of-folders-problem/
The command allowed me to find the folder and subsequently trash it. Everything seems to be fine right now. The disc utility does not report the "exceeded the recommended limit of 100 " error.

  • Macbook AIR 11" Lion frequent restart issue, Macbook AIR 11" Lion frequent restart issue

Has anyone faced this problem with auto restart issue with the Macbook AIR (1.8gz i7 Intel). These few days it keeps restarting stating a hardware problem. I remembered software updated once in China using a 4MBit/sec line once. But it works ok. But when I get back to Kuala Lumpur, it started to have this problem. Reapir permisssion...repair utitlities ueed, even jap RAM etc. did...  So, I tried to call a local reseller has suggested while I downloaded the updates may has been facing with some 'broken chains' for the entired file system in the installer..  (whatever); and ask me to think of some ways to reformat the hardisk and reinstall. as AIR doesn't has a conventional CD install but all using online services, ....problem  it require 27 hours to reinstall the system online. FAS@^$*(@... if it takes a gigabytes of data or so, wondering is this a really wise way to have the AIR supported in this manner .. I guess 90% of the lines are not 1.5mbits /sec. and it SHOULD has been well informed to the buyer first of this potential technical and internet speed requirement -man...
but my problem is, So now, HOW-AH ???

Yeap, NEXT issue, I read some of the honest comment on the battery life which relates to AIR, ... you can chop my head and sit on mine if the AIR battery lasts more than 3 hours !  it doesn't. I bought it because it is lighter than the Mac Book Pro which I also owned, primarily for traveling.  But I never knew it was a technical highlight on a new AIR. Anyway, doesn't matter as I have external cables, as long as it doesn't show the frequent "Your computer requires to restart because of a problem...."

  • Ipad 4th gen restarting issue

My ipad has recently gone crazy, constantly restarting itself over and over until I can finally be fast enough to turn it off myself before it restarts itself again.
It is a 4th gen and I haven't downloaded anything new. Once I can get the ipad back on, the restarting issue seems to calm down until I go into the general settings and try to update my ipad to keep this from happening. I've tried to reset the ipad but this sends it back into restarting as well.
I even tried to connect it to my laptop to try and update via itunes but it sends it into restarting again as well.
I feel sad because its out of warranty and I feel like this is Apples fault with their latest ios 8 and if all solutions fail that probably means I have to trade it for a new one.
Is anyone else going through this nightmare?

I know I'm a week late, been real busy. But this isn't a forum for excuses.
I think I'm going to schedule a genius bar appointment because the iPad will not let me update at all. Once it downloads the update and gets ready to go through with it, then it begins on an ongoing restart cycle until I can be fast enough to interrupt it and shut it off.
I'm going to make the appointment but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they tell me I need to buy a new one.

  • Z87-G45 Restarting Issue

My wife and I have just completed our first gaming build (the specs should be in my signature), everything works fine from a cold boot and loads up successfully and I can shut the computer down using Windows or by holding down the power button and switch it back on again successfully. The problem is restarting the computer from Windows, the reset button on the case or the motherboard resetting itself after saving changes from the BIOS menu. The motherboard will begin to power down, all of the ports will become inactive, however it appears to never fully switch off, the fans will continue to run and I have to turn it off using the power button and then turn it back on again for anything to work.
I have tried reinstalling all of the drivers from the discs, resetting the bios and have checked the connections inside multiple times, everything seems fine and operates perfectly with the exception of this restarting issue. Any help would be appreciated.

It requires bios version 1.7 or above to fully support Haswell Refresh cpus (like the i7-4790 used). As you are using version 1.6 an update is needed in any case and might cure the issue too.
With following you can update to the latest version 1.8:
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
         F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash the bios

  • CPU fan speed on P45 Neo3FR

I just installed Coolermaster Gemini iis cpu cooler on my system. From the HW monitor, I found that the max fan speed was only 1867 rpm. A similar reading was found on the reading of DualCorecenter utility. I have put the CPU fan speed in the bios to maximum but no change. The support center of coolermaster has confirm that the fan is able to run up to 2000 rpm.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?
    My system is
    mb: P45 Neo3FR pcb 1.0
    bios 1.8
    CPU : E8200
PSU : Antec pure power 430

I tried the options in the smartfan, but no response. The fan speed did not change. Actually, my problem was the cpu temperature is about 1-2 degrees higher than the stock cooling. So, I took of the fan, cleaned both CPU and cooler, applied the correct amount of thermal paste following your suggestion. Now, the CPU temperature is about 40 to 41 C during idle compare to 43 to 44 using stock cooler. The fan speed has increased to 1910 rpm.
I just wonder that the fan speed may not properly regulated by the bios. Do you think it is necessary to tell MSI support?

  • MSI P45 Neo3 FR - E7400 - reoccuring restart issue

I just received new parts to rebuild my PC. It were:
    MSI P45 NEO3 FR
    Intel E7400
    2x2GB A-Data (800) memory
and BQ Dark Power 450W PSU
    Unfortunately I have an issue:
After building this (with addition of my old GPU Geforce 7950) I wanted to test it... I run this set into BIOS it worked till CPU temp. reaches around 40C then it gets into restarting loop. It happened each time I made a test. Of course I've tried also with my HD attached to the set with the same result. I've checked the RAM and PSU on my friends PC and it works fine so the next 'suspect' is mobo..
    What might be wrong?
My best guess is BIOS - I have A7514 IMS V.1.3
It is old but how to upgrade it when there is such a big risk in restart during process...

    Quote
I did not installed new Window, at present I don't think it would be possible with hardware going into restart after few minutes at best... But when I attached my harddrive with Win XP on it it runned just more or less for the same amount of time (like in plain bios) before it gets restarted.
Nah you can't just plug in a hd that contain window and other drivers which is mean for another mobo and hope miracle work though some does but in the long run you're bound to run into issue. Not forgetting different mobo are having different chipset, unless you get back the same mobo.
If you doesn't believe me, give it a try and reinstall window from fresh with the mobo driver cd. If you don't have window or are facing licence key issue. Install linux as in ubuntu instead

  • P45 Platinum USB issues on XP 64 Pro

My mouse (Logitech MX518) works only when plugged into one of the USB ports on my motherbeoad.  Any other port and it tries to detect new software - runs through the installation and I get a fatal error message - and the mouse does not work at all.  I can't get the Logitech Setpoint software to install either - when installing the drivers I get an error message.  I spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone with Logitech and they think it's a USB / Intel control issue.  I had a SM Bus controller error in device manager and I used the "INF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets (2455KB)" which solved the SM Bus controller issue.  but I'm not sure that was the correct piece of software to use as the motherbeoad says its a P45 chipset.  The USB issue has existed since I powered up the machine yesterday - the Intel software installation did not impact the problem either way.  the MSI CD is useless as it doesn't seem to have any 64 bit drivers.  I've downloaded all from MSI that I can find and got the audio and LAN working but I still get the occasional blue screen for really no reason, just surfing the web and bam - blue screen.  am I missing something ciritcal for the installation?  any thoughts are appreciated on the best way to set up this 64 bit system.

Quote from: mockymock on 24-January-09, 04:47:45
I'll look up the BIOS in a second
    BIOS is                              A7512IMS V1.0 052108
I also made the change so it won't restart automatically if I get a blue screen.  And BIOS has USB Enabled. (I'm catching up!)
Alright, now I'm trying to make a bootable CD to update my BIOS.
Update: Got the USB drive BIOS to function per the MSI Forum Flash Tool, but I get an error message - Error File ROM ID incorrect - and the BIOS doesn't update.  Still listed as V1.0 and should be V1.7.  My P45 isn't listed as supported for Sure Hands, so I haven't tried that.  Don't know if that ROM error is the reason my BIOS isn't updating or not.  I cleared the CMOS, etc.  Not sure why it isn't working.
You have pickup the wrong BIOS file. Latest BIOS for your board is 1.5 ==> http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1479
    1.7 doesn't exist.

  • P45 Platinum Posting Issue

I have a P45 Platinum Motherboard that I purchased from Newegg on the 14th. I recieved it on the 17th and built a brand new system with it from scratch. I'm using an intel E8400 Wolfdale CPU along with  4 sticks of 2GB G-SKILL DDR2 RAM (PC-8500) @ 1066. I'm currently using a BFG 8600 GT graphics card (soon to be a Sapphire 3870x2) and its all being powered up by a Rosewill PSU with 850 watts of power. All items purchased from Newegg (aside from the 8600gt, thats an old card).
Here is whats frustrating me, and as you can see from the topic's title... my system doesnt post... sort of.
Technically it does POST however it will only POST if i hit the "Clear CMOS" button located on the back of the system. Upon doing so, the system will act as though its booting up for the very first time. It will ask you to set up your CMOS configurations and once that is complete it will load up Vista right off my Harddrive with no problems.
    However..
Once the system is shutdown or restarted, the system WILL NOT POST and I am forced to clear the CMOS again!
Now... I have troubleshooted ALOT with this board... and I'm left with only two conclusions... either this board is defective (highly likely) or it just needs its BIOS updated.
Ram sticks, video card, HDD, DVD drives... all have nothing to do with it! I can remove all devices and turn the system on with no memory sticks, and I will be left with 4 solid red lights (the ones that turn green after posting) and there will be no beeps of any kind to indicate I dont have memory installed. However... once i hit the clear cmos button then it will post and it will correctly see that there is no memory sticks... it will beep.. I will shut down... I will install devices... turn it on and it will POST.

I need help with this in a desperate way...

So okay, heres whats bugging me in regards to my memory sticks. Your throwing out numbers like PC2-6400 but on the stick it says PC2-8500?
So... is it incorrect or what?
Let me try to explain a little more detailed:
A given board/BIOS is not able to read the sticker that is glued to your modules but only the SPD Profiles that are pre-programmed into the SPD Chips of your sticks.  If you check those SPD-Tables with Everest, Memset 3.5 or Memory-Z (in BIOS) you can see for yourself that the "fastest" Profile is a JEDEC-Standard DDR2-800-Profile [CL5 @1.8V].  There is no profile for DDR2-1066 clock speed.  That is why whatever Board or BIOS you try, your modules will be detected and handled as DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) modules.  It is evident, that there is no issue here and there is no point in discussing this any further.
So, what does the PC2-8500 rating mean?  It means, that G.Skill has tested these modules, which are essentially DDR2-800 sticks, up to DDR2-1066 clock speed with increased voltage.  Basically, G.Skill is giving you a permission to overclock these memory sticks by increasing the voltage above the 1.8V +/- 0.1V JEDEC-DDR2-standard without voiding your warranty.  Therefore they sell these modules as DDR2-1066 RAM.
If your RAM was "real" DDR2-1066 memory, it would have to be able to operate @1.8V (DDR2 standard voltage) above 1000 MHz.  But in order to be to that the timings your timings would have to be relaxed to CL6 or CL7 depending on the chips used by the manufacturer.  In addition to that, there needs to be an SPD-Profile that tells the BIOS that these modules are DDR2-1066 and that it should set frequency, timings and voltage accordingly.
Furthermore, the P45 Memory Controller does not natively support DDR2-1066 modules.  That is why that rating is tagged with an "OC"-mark on the product page of the P45 Platinum.
This said, your only option to get these modules to DDR2-1066 speed is to manually set the clock speed and increase DRAM voltage in BIOS.  There is no other way to get there and it is also perfectly normal to do that.
Now, let's look at your actual problem:  The system is unstable as soon as you want to overclock your RAM to the DDR2-1066 rating, that G.Skill has promised you.
There are a couple of reasons that can cause such an instability:
    1. Your memory modules are not up to the task of running at that speed.
    2. Your memory related BIOS settings (especially timing & voltage) are not properly set.
    3. The board is incapable of supporting such clock speeds above chipset specifications (remember: DDR2-800 max. according to Intel).
    4. The board's current BIOS is not optimized in such a way, that it can properly handle DDR2-1066 clock speed.
I can assure you, that the board has no problems with DDR2-1066 in generell and I suspect that this is simply a BIOS related problem.  I have no issues getting my Kingston HyperX RAM to DDR2-1066 speed with BIOS v1.1b5.

I am still using the v1.0 Bios. I've already stated that I don't feel comfortable flashing my BIOS with something thats in Beta.
Of course, I can understand that and it is generally not a bad idea to be careful with BETA releases.  However, in your case I believe the problem is rather BIOS related.  I had stability problems with DDR2-1066 clock speed with different earlier BIOS Versions as well (including v1.0) and I have tested more than 10 BETA- and Performance releaes so far.  BIOS v1.1b5 however allows stable operation @DDR2-1066 MHz.
If you do not want to use flash this BETA, you will have to wait for an official release which can be expected soon.  This official release will be based on v1.1b5 and it could very well be the case, that v1.1b5 will simply be renamed to v1.10 and offered for download on the product page.

And as I remember it, it supposedly voids your warranty if used??
You can contact MSI Technical Support and describe your problem there as well.  I am almost sure that they will provide you with a more recent BETA BIOS in return (v1.1b5 or later).  If you want to be reassured by an official feedback from MSI Support, I suggest you contact them and see what they have to say.

  • IPad 2 Wi - Fi 16 GB Black charging & restarting issue

I'm facing some problem in charging of my iPad 2 Wi - Fi 16 GB. it is not starting up without plugging the charger cable in a power outlet, and after a while when it opens up shows 81% charge and lasts for a mere 2.5 minutes and restarts.
It is not even starts when plug into a usb port of a PC or Laptop! just showing low battery ( red ) logo and apple logo, and keep on doing that. its only when I put the charging cable into it and attach the cable to a power outlet it show up apple logo then start up with start up tone , and every thing is ok for about 2.5 minutes and then suddenly it shuts down and restart...I have reset the tablet once within this 2.5 minute time frame but the problem remains, and if i pull out the charging cable from i-pad it does not even starts.
My question is whether it is repairable at home? is it a software or hardware related issue? if it needed service center care so how much it may cost ( i.e. Battery or charging socket / IC if required to be replaced?)

I'm sorry you have this error on your Ipad EMMIGOMAG.Did you attempt to shut it down completely? Is there any damage to the device? Are you having issues with any downloaded application? Keep us posted.

  • Slow restart - blue screen BSOD and Boot Camp restart issue

After Snow Leopard install on Macbook Pro I have experienced a very slow startup and restart. The grey apple screen appears for about 25 secs and then the blue screen hangs for 2mins and 2 secs. Also when restarting from Boot Camp blue screen just stays and restart fails. I waited approx 25 mins and blue screen was still there. I have searched Console system log for clues but am not technically adept. hopefully someone can help. I have copied log below form recent restart (in OSX mode, not boot camp). My Windows Boot camp volume is called ERICGLPC and I can see some issue on the log but unsure what it means.

  • Auto Restart Issue with Mac Book AIR

Have been using a Macbook PRO for sometime, no problem with Parallel installed. Due to frequent traveling, light and compact is my priority now, so I bought another AIR (11" i7 chip w/ Parallel installed as well). It was working flawlessly for few weeks, used it to download a couple of updates when I was in China (approx. 4Mbit/sec line speed) still no issues. UNTIL when I get back to my office and using WIFI updated another few stuffs, the AIR started to behave strangely with "your computer needs to restart due to problem ..."  the last few days it happened at least 10 times daily, so I did what I know with the usual Mac way,  reset PRAM, repair permissions blah blah blah ..problems persists so I called the service centre and the technician I talked to suggested the issue could be from 'your moderate internet speed causing incomplete system updated files.' ;  half convinced but I followed / reinstalled ...with no CD, it has to press option to select  to reinstall -- only then I realized a big problem, originally it states requires 27 hours to reinstall a fresh LION in my AIR but finally it completed and restated in still about MASSIVE 7-1/2 hours time.
As I have bought a USB network connector now (a convenient gadget when stays at hotels with different levels of facilities offered), this is not so troublesome and I think fellow users should consider using network and avoid using WIFI for this purpose. I notice once the left USB once was used (without turning off the WIFI)  it keeps breaking the connections, as I read some articles from this forum the left USB could has some stability issues.  After all the time spent, the computer freezes at times and auto restarts again. What the heck has this causes the AIR to behave this way ?
NEXT, I also read on the Power issues, I bought it without realizing one of the technical highlight is on high performance battery management but you can chop my head off and sit on mine if the AIR can last 3 hours (probably the suggested time is with computer power on but without using it at all). I don't want to sound un-nice as I have been using Mac for many many years:  1) if AIR is entirely basing on internet (VERY HIGH SPEED) for support is not a really very friendly method for users if there is reliability issues via internet line support, says what if we are caught in remote area with 30k/sec line speed then we are totally dead ... ; 2)  the recent scare makes me dare not using the software updates now, as technician suggested, write down what is required to update, find it from apple and do it manually ...Goohs, my Mac Book Pro using side by side doesn't has this issue.   Since when was the last time I have to suffer maintaining a Mac myself ? ...  @%#&@*!(!
Anyone has clue to these or simply return to service centre to handle for me ?
Thanks in advance (first time user in this community).

    Hello!
I´m sorry it took so long to reply, but I´m new to these blogs; and I´ve been travelling a lot... Anyway, I was able to configure Airport Express, but I was told I could use it to expand my wireless network inside my house; which I found it´s not possible.
So, I´m returning my Airport Express to the store tomorrow and try to figure out a way to extend my wireless in any other way.
Any sugestion? Big houses are a problem...
Best regards, and once again thank you!

  • Restart Issues

I have a new intel imac, which is only 2 months old. I recently upgraded to Leopard. However, this issue has been occurring since before Leopard was installed.
When I restart the computer, it shows just a plain gray screen, no apple start up noise, no apple logo, just nothing but gray.
I have to hit the power button on the back, wait 10-20 seconds, and press the power button again in order to have my computer properly start up.
Today I tried to eject my ipod and external hard drive before restarting, and my computer actually restarted properly. It does not seem to matter whether or not these devices are plugged in, just so long as I eject them before restarting.
Why? I want to know what the underlying issue is. Is there something wrong with my imac that needs to be fixed? If so, how can I fix it?

Yes, something might be wrong with your Mac, as this Apple Support article details the startup sequence:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303363
The lack of a boot chime is usually considered a diagnostic of a basic problem with a Mac. However, it may be that your sound level is set so low that you can't hear it, so check that first.
