P45 Platinum and CPU cooler

Hi all,is Zalman cnps9700nt compatible with MSI P45 Platinum??thanks for the replies

Depending on your case configuration, you can mount it to exhaust to the rear of the case or the top. The other thing I like, is it is a four pin CPU fan connection rather than just a three pin.
Here's a link so you can see what it looks like installed; http://s326.photobucket.com/albums/k432/HU16E/P45/

  • P45 platinum and CPU coolers.

Right, looking to replace my current CPU cooler with more effective one but there seems to be a slight problem if one wants to get a proper tower-type cooler on this board.
Had a look at coolink corator DS and noctua NH-D14 ( or something like that) and their compatibility list on websites state pretty clearly that they won't fit because of excessive height of chipset cooling.
Same thing apparently applies to thermalrights silver arrow. Couldn't find any info about Prolimatechs megahalems rev 2 on their site.
So, what CPU-coolers have you been using on this board. I'm not afraid of slightly modifying them as long as it doesn't impact the performance. Slight bending of fins enough to make them fit or is there actually a cooler available that fits straight away?
Apparently Scythes Ninja \ ninja 2 fits, atleast that's what someone said on Scythes forum.

Took some pics from different angles. "Lots" of space all around. Fan covers ram slot 1 but that shouldn't be a problem if your sticks don't have large heatsinks on them.
    Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Result in temps. With previous cooler would prolly have been 10 or so celsius more with these volts.

  • MSI P45 Platinum and Scythe Ninja 2

    Hi all,
I'm a rookie here and sorry if this question has already been asked but search didn't give solution. I'm planning to buy an MSI P45 Platinum and found Circu-Pipe 2 interesting. They said it leaves enough space for "giant CPU heatsinks". Scythe's Ninja 2 seems to be a giant one... Cause I will purchase them via net, I cannot try them manually in a shop. Does anyone (or friend...) have the same or similar Circu-Pipe-d mainboard with a Ninja 2? Will them work together?
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers!

Managed to find the following link after doing a search, hope it answer ur queries

  • MSI P45 Platinum and Neo2-FR

    Hello everyone!
I have small question will P45 Platinum and P45 Neo2-FR work fine with those memories OCZ DDR2 PC8500 4096MB KIT, Reaper HPC, 2x2048MB, Heatpipe, (CL5-5-5-18) ?

Quote from: Jack the Newbie on 04-October-08, 18:05:31
A few facts about the P45 Chipset and those memory modules:
    1) According to Intel Specifications, the Intel P45 Chipset natively supports DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 modules, that is it.
    2) Those OCZ Modules are essentially DDR2-800 modules (use DDR2-800 chips).  DDR2-1066 is an overclocking rating that will force you to overvolt these sticks above DDR2 standard voltage.
    3) EPP profiles are pre-programmed OC profiles that are not fully supported on Intel Chipsets but are for NVidia Chipsets only.
    The bottom line is:
-> To run those modules @standard DDR2-800 speed should be no problem (neither on the P45 Platinum nor on the P45 Neo2-FR.
-> Trying to get the system stable @DDR2-1066 speed may or may not work stable, as this means overclocking both the memory controller AND the modules. So, get ready to some tweaking of memory related BIOS settings (inlcuding memory voltage, MCH Voltage, DDR reference voltages and timings) to find stable settings for non-standard clock speeds.
So I shouldn't have any problems to start computer after I connect everything? And what IF I will be unlucky and those memories won't work ?

  • Msi p45 platinum and e5300 HELP

Hello! Can you help me with this?
    bios v1.6
    Intel e5300 - 2,6ghz
    Msi p45 platinum
    2gb trancend ddr2 667
What function to enable, what to disable. Also, have I hardware overclock fsb jumpers (now sets to 200Mhz)-JB1 and JB2. And how to decrease cpu ratio if I have to( now is 200x13=2600Mhz). Also what dram ratio etc...
I'll be greatefull if somebodu help me,I just wanna overclock processor to 3gHz for every day,not 24/7, maybe 12/7...THANX and sorry for my bad English

hello! I try that, remove both the oc jumper, and I CAN'T EVEN RUN THE BIOS    So after couple restarts, i shut down pc and se jumpers to 200-266 mode. Disable what you said, set fsb 260 x multiplier 11,5 and get 3ghz. Some programs seys core 1 and 2 speed 3371mhz? I set cpu voltage to 1.32, little increase the ather voltages... With max load max temperature with core temp is 63c after couple hours. Should I do something to increase more speed or is better to leave it like this? Or try set jumpers to mode 266-333 and decrease cpu multiplier wuth more fsb?

  • P45 Platinum and 8GB (4x2GB A-Data Vitesta 1066+) Problem

    Hello friends,
i have some questions about this memory configuration on mobo P45 Platinum:
    CPU E8400
    4x2GB A-Data Vitesta 1066+
    P45 Platinum
    Asus EAH4670
    2x500G WD5000AAKS
I have problem with start up of my comp when i use all 4 sticks at 1066MHz. When i use 2 sticks only i don't have any problems at [email protected]
When i try to start pc with 4 sticks at 5-5-5-15@[email protected] nothing, my pc won't start.
I have NO problem when i start it with 4 sticks and 5-5-5-15@[email protected], everything is fine.
Maybe i need give a little more voltage to MCH, but i'm not sure.
Have anyone tried 8GBs on P45 Platinum with more than 800MHz.
    Thanks in advance!

    For two reasons:
    1) you don't have real DDR2-1066 (the modules you have are overclocked & overvolted DDR2-800)
    2) with 4 memory modules, any DDR2/DDR3 controller (northbridge) gets into speed limitation.
In conclusion: 8GB (4x2GB DDR2-800 5-5-5-15 at 1.8V) is the best choice (presuming you don't have any stability issue).

  • PSU and CPU cooler for Mega PC 651

I got my hands on a 2nd hand msi Mega PC 651 for free because the case does not contain any CPU cooler and PSU.
Where can I bye these components?

    Hi Lewis,
I presume you are refering to this guide?
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/support/manual/note/quick_installation.pdf
I don't think there are any better instructions, other than what you might get with the CPU. Here's some breif comments that may or may not help though:
Get an anti static strap and attach it to earth, (ie I leave my main PC plugged in and attach to it's chassis, when working on another PC)
Your CPU may be attached to the heatsink with thermal paste, if it is be very careful
On my 865 the CPU heatsink is screwed to the motherboard, it may also be held on with levers. Disconnect it as appropriate
Once the heatsink is loose gently remove it, you may need to lift one side first or it may lift the whole CPU out
Once the heatsink is out lift the CPU lever, the CPU will easily lift out
you may wish to remove the old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink, I use ArctiClean 1+2 check your CPU supplier for options
put the CPU straight into an antistatic bag
Only when you are finished playing with your PC insides should you take off the antistatic strap
If you are still unhappy with these instructions try checking out the Intel or AMD website for help
    Hope this helps
    cheers

  • MSI P45 Platinum and RAID 0!

System specs below! First of all this system is basically a gaming rig. I am running Vista 64 on one single Western digital hard drive, and using an identical drive for storage. I was thinking about setting up a RAID 0 array with these two drives. Can this be easily done with this mobo? I am just wondering if there are any quirks associated with the MSI P45 Platinum mobo that would make this a pain to set up. Anyone else running a RAID 0 with this mobo and having good results? Would it even be worth it?
I was told my several different people in the gaming community, that RAID 0 really speeds up map loading, which would be great. I would be backing up the array to another internal drive using True Image.
    Any advice would be great!!

    Quote from: Jack t.N. on 20-May-09, 03:16:19
Only, if you set the controller to AHCI Mode (which would not really be a problem either).  You probably won't need any additional drivers when the controller is working in IDE Mode.
If you have to install drivers, use the latest ones from the JMicron FTP Download Server:
    ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/Win2k_xp_Vista/
Ok, well I won't have my new storage drive until Thursday. I will run HD tune on the drive connected to both different controllers and see what is the fastest.
I know we talked about this just a little. Still wondering about the RAID drives, or any drives attached to the ICH10R's SATA connections when it is set to RAID in the bios. The drives, including my SATA CD/RW drive does not show under "Standard CMOS features". Just #7 and #8 of the JMicron's show since they are still set to IDE in the bios.
    You commented with:
"They are now Controlled by the ICH10R Firmware.  Look here":
--> Integrated Peripherals --> On-Chip ATA Devices --> AHCI Devices Group
    --> Integrated Peripherals --> On-Chip ATA Devices -->
Those locations are just where you set the RAID mode. There's no actual drives listed there. I do see a screen popup when booting my system with the two RAID drives saying "ok" and bootable. Plus I see them in the Matrix storage console. Is this normal then?  There really is no place when you search through the bios that you can see them listed??  I can hit the Ctrl and I keys and go into the actual RAID bios, but I don't see my RAID drives listed in the actual bios.
Am I explaining this right??  Just wanting to make sure everything is working right.  It sure seems to work well with bench marks. Here's a shot of my array with HD tune.  I'm thinking that burst rate can't be right.

  • Problem with motherboard and cpu cooler

    First of all , hello.
Let me present my current pc.
    Mainboard - MSI 880GM-E41
CPu - Amd phenom x2 560 black - unlocked to quad
    Ram - 4 gb kingmax DDR 3
    Video - Gainward GTS 450 512 DDR 5
Hdd - Western Digital 640 GB
    Power suply - Sirtech 400 W
Now the problem.I bought a Scythe Katana 3 cooler because i couldnt stand the noise from AMD stock cooler anymore.
The cooler RPM in idle/load / full load is 2800 RPM (maximum !) Shoudnt the mainboard set the cooler's rotation to match the processor current usage ? My cooler stand in maximum rotations every single time.
Note that my temperatures are excelent.
I took a look in Bios and could find much.
    H/W Monitor
    Cooler - 4 pins selected
Smart fan target - disabled selected.Guess this is the automatic option.I dont wanna set it to manual in order to give some values.
Amd cool and quiet - enabled (tried it with disabled too , same deal)
    C1E support - enabled.
Would updating my bios to lasted available solve this problem ? I wanted to do that but i wonder if updating the bios would interfere with my unlock of the processor's cores.
    Thanks you very much.

    Yes , it is
I dont actualy have an "enabled" option....just disabled or some values.
    I heard from a friend that :
Smart Fan Target - the critical temperature from which the fan starts to grow in rotations
Cpu Min.Fan Speed - the desired rotations per minute in idle
    Is this correct ?
    Im thinking about
    First - 45
Second - dont know....i have to test with different values.

  • P45 Platinum and 8 gigs of g skill ram at 1066

Hello, I am new to this so please have patience.
I have read the forums here and and found much info on this subject but have not been able to solve the problem I am having.
My bios version is 1.6 and I have not overclocked the cpu.
I have set the dram volts from 2.1 to 2.3 in small increments.
    Spread spectrum is disabled.
    Timings are 5,5,5,15
Now the problem is I can run 4 gigs of this ram stable at 1066 but not 8 gigs.
When I install the other 4 gigs machine will not boot at all.
8 gigs run stable at 800.
Have installed all combination's of this ram at 4 gigs at 1066 and is stable.
Have ran memtest for 10 plus hours and no errors. (at 1066 with 4gigs 2 sticks at the time all possible combination's.)
Any help, comments, suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Johnny

your memory spec says its default voltage is 2 or 2.1 volt.
when you use 8 gb ram due to load there is a fall in voltage at memory slot terminal and you have to make up for that fall. to go round the prob this is what i would do.
    Stage 1
    shut down pc and unplug.
then insert only two in slot1 and slot 3.
then plug the pc and power then go into bios and cell menu section. in there you have to increase the memory voltage to 2.2 save and exit  then let window boot then run CPU-Z and look at spd section and make a note of its value on a paper then restart the pc and go back into bios cell menu section and check your memory spd setting with that of cpu-z. if they are different then you change them to that of cpu-z,  save and exit and let window boot. then shut down the pc and unplug.
then you insert the other two memory in slot 2 and 4.
     and hope it boots.
What if it does not boot.
    Stage 2
no boot means the memory  setting are still wrong.
you have to shut down and remove the two memory in slot 2 and 4.
power the pc and go into bios and increase voltage from 2.2 to 2.3 volt,  save and exit and let window boot.
again run cpu-z and make a note of spd.
restart the pc and go back into bios and check memory spd in bios and correct them to those of cpu-z. save and exit and let window boots and shut down the pc, unplug and insert the other two memory in slot 2 and 4.
power the pc and hope it boots.
at all time you make sure spread spectrum is disabled
in addition to votage you may have to change other settingd in bios. good luck

  • MSI P45 Platinum and e8400 at 4GHz but Vcore at 1.512V

Ok, so I hit the big "4" but with a price of using 1.5+ :( on vcore.  Using Orthos to stress, my temps on both cores are 60C or below.  That seems acceptable.  Btw, I left Orthos running for 30 minutes then turned off and went to bed.  Any advice is welcome on lowering my vcore for longevity?

Quote from: iTalisman on 14-November-08, 14:21:38
I just raised the vcore to 1.3v. But the board has a vdroop. If I set it up at 1.3, it takes up to 1.32+. Currently at 400X9=3.6. Memory divider 1:1=800 (4-4-4-12). Testing if its stable. Intel Burntest for 20 minutes seems ok. Temps are 52 and 55. Gaming is ok for a few hours. BIOS is currently 1.53 beta. I am still confused about the n.bridge setting in cell menu. There are 4 options....not sure about those. And I've pulled up those FSB jumpers. So its set to 333-400. By the way....what about performance BIOS....give me some pearls about it...since u r using. The pro's and con's....
What kind of vdroop are you seeing?  Your setting seems okay for that configuration.  N. bridges settings are the MCH voltages and MCH GTL REF.  If you want to go higher say 400FSB+, than set MCH Voltage to around 1.4V and bump your vcore up to 1.4V.  However, that will generate heat and if you don't have adequate cooling (e.g. water) then there will be problems.
Also, I have no idea about the differences in performance and non-performance bios and I have not personally tried them all, just A7512IMS.P0D, A7512IMS.153, and A7512IMS.P0M.  I really don't understand how they label the bioses either since its not too clear.  For example, how do you know A7512IMS.P0M is V25.0B22?  It's only after you flash the bios and look on the startup screen.  This confuses people in my opinion.

  • MSI P45 Platinum and 6 HDDs

    Hello friends,
i have this strange problem, i have 6 hard disks connected to ICH10R on my mobo. Everything is detected in BIOS on ICH10R. I have created these volumes:
RAID0+RAID1 on first and second disks and other 4 disks are in RAID5,BUT:
when my OS load, storage manager find degraded raid5 volume and missing the last (6th) disk.Someone have any ideas? Thanks in advanvce!
My OS: Windows XP x64 SP2
last version of the matrix driver 8.8.0.1009

I have done some more continuous tests with intelburn test and memtest and i think already, that definitely problem is NOT CPU and RAM.
I have done some tests on hdds and the results on all 4 disks are the same:

There are 3 disks with fw 1AA01113 and 1 with 1AA01119. I don't know what that RAM error means (maybe disk cache), but i don't think this is the problem (the 4 disks are buyed from different time period), maybe just estool has some bug.

The thing is i already bougth them....
I tried to make them work but i culdnt, my best gues is (as long as the mother supports them) to flash the bios becouse i noticed that a lot of them have a improved memory compatibility.

    plz excuse my lame english....

I tryed them, it took a while for the pc to go functionaly on windows and when it did, i had a some lame latencys....
After rebooting, the pc wont start... i had leds indicating "broken memory or not properly installed". y used the jumper of the motherboard and the old memory.
What do i have to do to unlock the voltage item in the Cell menu? i still have it in dark-grey...

currently i'm running @ 266*9 = 2.4Ghz n my fsb/dram ratio is 1:2. the thing is wen i set my FSB to 400 , fsb/dram ratio is changed to get 1064Mhz for my rams thou, (CPU stil runs @ 400*6=2.4Ghz), i c my NBB Voltage is marked in RED color in d core center software.
the thing is i'm not sure wat is d safe voltage to set it in BIOS to as i'm afraid i might fry d board. PC parts over here are freakin expensive. All settings in BIOS is set to AUTO as i didn't OC my Q6600. Except my ram timings in BIOS is set to 5-5-5-15 (others all auto). so guys, please help me out here. i'm sorry if tis question is lame or a repeat post. i've been checkin around for months but just cant seem to get an asnwer. once again, thanks for all d help guys...

If all voltages are set to auto and everything's running without an issue you don't need to change any voltage setting because the auto settings are safe. Forget about core center software as it is quite crappy. What does your HW monitor in bios report for nbb voltage?

  • P45 Platinum, some overclocking experience needed !

    Hi,
I have bought a new computer last winter and been busy with it all the time.. when i bought it i had problems with MY CPU and memory but both fixed, CPU with BIOS 1.4 ( at that point the most recent BIOS ) and memory fixed with the help of some other guy with the same problem and the same hardware.
When all that was fixed and my PC runned stable i began overclocking the CPU by taking off the FSB jumpers so it wouldn't run on 333 MHZ but 400 MHZ FSB.
Now i wanna know if someone has experience with overclocking a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 on a P45 platinum, my CPU is now running on 3.4 GHZ ( stand 2.83 GHZ )  and I wanna know if a Vmod is nessecary need to get it to.. lets say 3.6 to 3.8 GHZ ?
I also want to know if someone has overclocked his Corsair Dominators above 1066 MHZ and how he did it, because nothing is working for me ( little changes direcly give BSODS etc. )
    Thanks for everyones time,
    Tim

Try your overclock first by setting your memory to 5.5.5.15 at 800MHz. This will eliminate or at least minimise any possible memory instabilities that are more than apparant in the forum when trying the 1066 overclock. If you are succesful, let me know, as I have the same set up, except that I have OZC Reapers. I must say that my 3,4 GHz (I have followed the same route as you via the jumpers) has not encountered a program or game yet that yielded unsatisfactory results. In actual fact my average frame rate in Far Cry 2 allgraphics maxed out runs between 70 and 80 fps. (MSI 9800GTX+). Unless you are running some scientific programs that need speeding up or you want to increase a theoretical benchmark, I wonder if the extra ,2 or,4 GHz will justify the potential temp increase or possible instabilities. But please advise once you have achieved that, what your system settings are what the percentage temp increase is on your CPU. I would be interested as I am too conservative at this stage to go beyond the 3,4.
